Migrating AP's Between 4404 Controller Sets

I am working with two sets of Cisco 4404 wireless controllers and would like to balance the AP's between the two sets. One set has 90% of the AP's associating with them and the other set only has 10%. Is there an easy migration tool I could use to move 40% of the AP's off the heavier used controller to the less used one. If not in the current controller software does WCS support this. The customer does not have WCS but I am curious if it does.

WCS will allow you to create a template so you can configure the primary and secondary controllers. Then you can push the template out to which ever ap's you want. It will be faster using WCS, but you can do this manually if you don't have wcs.

    Mobility 'Control and Data Path Down' between 4404 and 5508 WLC's.
    Hello, we have 5 x 4404 WLC's running 7.0.240.0 with mobility configured fine between them.
    We have installed a 5508 with HA running 7.4.110.0, and have tried to add it to the mobility group, however we see 'Control and Data Path Down' between the new 5508 and all the 4404 controllers.
    All controllers have:
    The same virtual address
    Management interfaces are in the same VLAN, and indeed all the controllers connect via the same pair of 3750X stacked switches.
    The default mobility domain name is the same

    I've spent quite some time double checking all the configurations to no avail.
    Has anybody seen this problem before?

    Thanks Sandeep.
    I am well versed with WLC's and mobility, however trying to add a 5508 to a mobility group with 4404's has come up with a bit of a curve ball.
    All the 4404 controllers all joined the mobility group fine, no problems at all - its only the 5508 I am struggling with.
    In theory its simple, populate the IP address, and MAC addres of the management interface of the remote WLC, as long as the management interfaces are in the same VLAN, and the Default Mobility Domain Name are the same it should come up.
    Interestingly I have found the 5508 reports its own management interface MAC address incorrectly when viewing the Mobility Groups:
    For example:
    {Screen shot WLC1.jpg}
    5508 management address is 10.95.x.x and when viewing the Mobility Management screen it shows its own MAC address as bc:16:65:f9:37:60.
    however!
    From our router is I do an sh arp | i 10.95.x.x (controller management address), I see:f872.eaee.becf.
    {Screen shot wlc2.jpg}
    Hence the WLC reports as: bc:16:65:f9:37:60
    and
    The network reports as: f872.eaee.becf for the same IP address.
    I have changed the other WLC's to the MAC adress seen on the network for the new controller, aka changed from
    bc:16:65:f9:37:60
    to
    f8:72:ea:ee:be:cf
    I now see the controllers reporting the mobility with the new controller as 'Control Path Down', however I am at a loss as to what may be causing this?
    Kind regards

  • HRMS Payroll: Migrating Element Links between Environments/Instances

    Hi,
    I need to migrate element links between environments i.e, I need to move my element links from one instance to another.
    Apart from doing this manually or using dataloader, what are the other options/best practices that I can look at?
    Regards,
    Santhosh Jose

    We've previously done this successfully using Data Pump to process the migration of Element Types, Input Values, Extra Info and Links - once set up it works very smoothly, but it does require quite a bit of setup so I'd only advise using if you're migrating a lot of elements several times.
    Data Pump is just a set of tables and concurrent programs that wrap around Oracle API's for migration of data/setup.
    The setup involves getting data into these tables...
    Key tables are:
    hr_pump_batch_lines
    hr_pump_batch_headers
    hr_pump_batch_line_user_keys
    Using API's like:
    hrdpp_create_element_type.insert_batch_lines
    hrdpp_create_element_extra_inf.insert_batch_lines
    hrdpp_create_element_link.insert_batch_lines
    hrdpp_create_input_value.insert_batch_lines
    hrdpp_update_input_value.insert_batch_lines
    Conc Program: Data Pump Engine
    There should be plenty of documentation around the net and MoS about this if you want to have a read.
    Alternatively you can call the API's yourself.
    or, you can have a go with iSetup - we tested this briefly but didn't get too far with it, several quirky issues with loading Work Structure data so went back to using Data Pump.

  • Migrating dimension hierarchies  between 2 different essbase applications

    Other than manual copy & paste do we have any other option or utility to migrate dimension hierarchies between 2 essbase cubes?
    Edited by: 1002514 on May 4, 2013 7:51 AM

    If you happen to use ODI then it could be achieved using the "LKM Hyperion Essbase METADATA to SQL" KM to extract the metadata with the "MEMBER_FILTER_VALUE" option to define which member to start extracting from and then set the "MEMBER_FILTER_CRITERIA" with one of the following values - "IDescendants,Descendants,IChildren,Children,Member_Only,Level0,UDA" and then load the extracted metadata in your target databases dimension.

  • WLAN 4404 Controller

    What are the configuration that I can have as I have orered 2 Wlan 4404 controller with same spec specially to have redundancy / failover.

    Hi Friend,
    When APs join controller you can define primary controller and secondary controller for each specific APs so that if by any chance any controller is unreachable APs can join second controller with minimal downtime.
    Also you can configure mobility group between 2 controllers so that when client roams to different APs on different controller they can retain thir ip address.

  • Difference between custom controller and component controller

    Hi All,
    I am a beginner in CRM SAP .
    Please can anyone tell me whats the difference between custom controller and component controller with some scenario.
    I am totally baffled.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Shilpi

    Hi Shilpi,
    The main difference between custom and component controller is the role which they play during data transfer.
    a) Custom controller is used for data transfer across two views within a component. For that you need to bind view context nodes to custom controller either through wizard or manually by adding the code in CTXT class create_contextnode method:
    initial setting for depandant model node
        coll_wrapper =
          BTADMINH->get_collection_wrapper( ).
        TRY.
            entity ?= coll_wrapper->get_current( ).
          CATCH cx_sy_move_cast_error.
        ENDTRY.
        IF entity IS BOUND.
          BTOpportH->on_new_focus(
                       focus_bo = entity ).
        ENDIF.
    b)Component controller is used for data transfer across two views in two different components. For this, we need to define the component usage first and then bind the context nodes in the method-WD_USAGE_INITIALIZE of the Component Controller impl class.
        WHEN 'ComponentUsageName'.
          iv_usage->bind_context_node(
                      iv_controller_type  = cl_bsp_wd_controller=>co_type_custom
                      iv_target_node_name = 'ContextNodeName'  "#EC NOTEXT
                      iv_node_2_bind      = 'ContextNodeName' ).  "#EC NOTEXT
    Hope this clears some of your doubts!
    Thanks and Regards,
    Rohit
    P.S-This is valid for CRM 2007.Raghu is also right because Interaction Center is made up of different different components combined together.You have put your question in wrong forum.

    Hi,
    Adobe Flash IDE: Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5
    I am facing some  migration/compatibility issues between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe  Flash Professional CS5:
    I am working on a project that has  been completely developed in CS3 earlier. When I am using CS5 (Flash Player 9 /  Flash Player 10) to compile the FLA files, it is creating some new issues like  some customized radio buttons are getting disappeared while viewing the SWF on a  web page etc.
    So, I would like to  know:
    1) Is there any  migration/compatibility issue between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe  Flash Professional CS5?
    2) If yes: Is there any patch  available from Adobe for it?
    3) If no: What could be the causes  and the best possible solutions for it?
    Any help and support would be highly  appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Can any one tell me how to talk between two controller.....
    Help will be awarded.
    Regards,
    Gurprit Bhatia

    Hi Gurpit,
    If you want to share data between 2 controllers then you can simply do that by providing a data link between the controllers in your data modeler.
    If you want to use some methods of one controller in another then you can do it using
    wdThis.wdget<controller name>().<method name>();
    If your question is something different than this then please elaborate your requirement.

  • Migration of orginals between two KPro storage systems

    Hi Friends
    I have created a document and checked in the originals into Storage category - SAP-SYSTEM (DMS_C1_ST-Default storage DMS (main files)).I have checked "Use KPro" configuration in "Define document type". Now, I need to migrate this originals into a fileshare system, which i have created as a new storage category(ZNEWDMS).How can I go about?
    I know there is program DMS_KPRO_CONVERT available. But this program migrates documents from DMS storage(Vault, Server, Archive) to KPro storage. My requirement is to migrate the originals between two KPro storages ie From DMS_C1_ST to ZNEWDMS.
    Could anybody help me on this?
    Regards
    S.Sivakumar

    Hi,
    I noticed this thread is a bit old, but I thought I would ask anyways.
    I have the following situation:
    Multiple SAP Instances, each with their own KPRO. A consolidation project to move towards a single SAP Instance. The multiple KPRO's stay as is.
    I am assuming the easiest wat to go about this is to ALE all the metadata of the various SAP instances to the new instance. Would the KPRO links remain intact?
    As part of the consolidation, Objects like materials and equipments have changed, e.g. Material 100 has changed to Material E100. For this I would assume a Bapi to update all the DIR's with the new Objects? This I am hoping would sever the old Object Link and create the new one?
    Any suggestions please.
    Thanks.
    Freddie.

  • 4404 Controller roaming - retaining IP

    Hi again guys!
    I have this scenario:
    We are using a 4404 controller with 3 different subnets (interfaces), all using the same SSID (using AP Groups VLANS). The thing here is that when a client roams from one AP to another AP of different subnet, the IP remains the same, even after resetting the interface on the client. I think this is a normal behavior, I mean, layer 3 roaming. But I want to make sure, and also I would like to know if this behavior can be disabled.
    Also, the client doesn't go from one AP to another immediately, I mean, the client stays some time without signal, so I think it should get an IP from the new subnet, not the one it had.
    The DHCP server is external, I dont know if this behavior has something to do with lease times on the server or something like that.
    Thanks in advance!!

    The default session timeout for a WLAN using authentication is 1800 seconds (30 minutes). I think the controller may be considering this client as still having an active session and not timing out their entry, although I would expect it to do so if it loses connectivity. In the IOS days there was a station timeout whereby the controller would send keepalives to verify activity before disassociating the client. I'm not sure what the equivalent keeplive mechanism is now, if there is one.
    If the client is on a new subnet the (old) DHCP renew request should be rejected as it would not be served by the (new) interface its sourced on. This should be in a different scope, so the client should obtain a new address sepecific to the scope served by the new source interface (router interface). Unless the client itself is holding onto the address, regardless of the DHCP process.

  • Migrate scheduler jobs between 2 databases

    Hello,
    I'm working on migrating a tablespace between 2 databases on different platforms.
    I'm using DataPump for export/import, and I'm using the CONTENT=METADATA_ONLY parameter for the export/import of schema and tablespace.
    The schema owner has some scheduler jobs on the source DB, and after the migration, the same jobs appear on the target machine, but the ones with arguments cannot be run - I saw a bug (#5239417) exists on MetaLink on this subject - cannot migrate scheduler jobs with arguments if the above export parameter is used.
    Are there other ways to transfer the scheduler jobs between my 2 databases?
    Thank you,
    Adrian
    Edited by: AdrianM on Apr 6, 2010 7:54 PM

    is it JOB and SCHEDULE, my guess is schedule
    if it's job, then you can use dbms_job.user_export
    if it's schedule, did you try to generate DDL script instead of running the actual import and then run that DDL on a side? http://www.dba-oracle.com/job_scheduling/export_scheduler.htm

  • Migrating 1240 APs from one controller to a new controller

    Hi Guys,
    I am installing a new 4404 controller and I want to simply move the APs that are associated with my current controller to the new controller once installed.
    The plan is to change the DHCP server once my new WLC is ready and change the option 43 IP address from the old controller to the new controller. This sounds quite simple to me.
    BUT,
    I know that the LWAPP flash on the AP sometimes gets stuck, and all of the APs are consealed above the ceiling and would be a nighmare to pull down the ceiling and console into all of them.
    Should the original plan of just changing the DHCP server option 41 to the new WLC IP address work OK, or do I run a big risk of having to get ceiling tiles down and all that jazz?
    Please can anyone advise me?
    Many thx indeed,
    Ken

    Hi Ken,
    FIrst of all, if both controllers run the same code, there is no flash issue. Still, the APs tend to remember the previous controller they were connected to, so you might see APs taking a Looong time to join the new controller, but they should eventually join anyway.
    A few other ways to do it:
    - my favourite: add the new controller to the same mobility group as the first one and make them know each other (adding each controller IP and MAC to the other one). Then define this new controller as the primary controller on all APs, reboot them.
    - Variation: if you use WCS, use a template to push the APs to the new controller.
    - If you replace the controller, configure the new one with the same IP addresses as the former one (and of course remove the old one before plugging the new one).
    - You can also put one of the APs in the same subnet as the new one, and use OTAP to have the others join it.
    Keep in mind that option 43 is just one way, among others, for the AP to discover as many controllers as it possibly can before choosing which one is the best to join. Changing option 43 will not remove the info about the old controller from the AP memory, so it might be more efficient to push them to the new one more gently... but the option 43 technique should work anyway...
