Migrating license from old machine to new machine.

I have an old pc with an upgraded version of Lightroom, meaning I started with version 4 and upgraded to version 5. In the process my serial numbers were changed.
Recently, I purchased a new mac and I would like to move my license over. I've installed a fresh copy of v5 but  neither serial number will work. Do I need to unregister my old computer? Do i need to install version 4 and upgrade again?

You need to contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.

  • I had a data migration done from old iMac to new iMac, how do I use that file to find my old email contacts, Safari bookmarks, etc ?

I recently had a data migration from old iMac to new iMac 11.2
How do I use that data file to get old email contacts, Safari bookmarks, etc ?

FireWire cables are dirt cheap and that's how you should be doing the migration. You might have to start over, wiping the new machine's HD, and restoring the software as described in the Everything Mac manual that came with it. See Best Practices and Setup new Mac for more details.

  • Migrate data from old machine via NFS

I'm giving my mother a new mac mini for christmas. Her current mac mini (G4) is running Tiger.
I plan on copying the old data via a simple NFS setup (I don't have a fireware cable so migrate assistant will apparently not work. Please correct me if I'm wrong). Or alternatively, simply via samba/cifs. Opinions are welcome.
Are there any folders in her home directory that I should not copy?
Is there possibly any valuable data elsewhere on the old machine?

  • Cannot migrate files from old MacBook to new MacBook Pro

I have been trying without success to migrate files from my old MacBook to my new one.  The Migration Assistant doesn't work.  The new Mac recognizes the old one but the old one cannot see the new one.  The old MacBook has OS 10.5.8 and the new MacBook Pro has 10.8.1.
Then I tried migrating from my Time Machine backup, with the external drive still connected to the old MacBook, but it kept telling me I didn't have enough space to copy anything, even when I unchecked everything except my Documents folder.
I went to the Apple Store and one of their "geniuses" told me I could connect the external hard drive directly to the new MacBook Pro and migrate the files from there.  That didn't work either; I got an error message about incompatible software.
The genius also told me that I could back up the new MacBook Pro to the same external hard drive with Time Machine that I'd been using and that I'd be able to restore from backups from either computer, but that's not true.  I cannot see any backups on the drive except from the new computer.  Time Machine does recognize that there is space in use on the drive but will not show me any of the content.
Does anyone know how I can migrate my files, short of copying them to a flash drive and doing it the old-fashioned way?  Thank you!

It is possible to merge accounts but it is not easy nor foolproof. The easier solutions:
    1. Remove the account made in Setup Assistant and change the username on the migrated account.
See Mac OS X- How to change user short name or home directory name.
See Macworld | Changing the short username in Leopard - use the last procedure, "The Full Monty."
    2. Log into the migrated, renamed account and delete the account made in Setup Assistant, then re-migrate your data.

  • Moving Acrobat 11 license from old computer to new

I have Adobe Acrobat 11, purchased in March 2013.  My computer was damaged and I had to buy a new one.  Can I transfer the license from Acrobat 11 from the old computer to the new one?

You don't have to transfer it.  But you can deactivate it on the old machine if it is still possible so that you retain the option for a second machine activation.
Adobe allows you to install/activate on two machines, so you can just install on the new machine as long as you have the second activation still available.

  • Can't migrate date from old mbp to new mbp using maverick

Hi have a new MBP 15 and 1 old one 12 maths old bothe running maverick. Have been trying to migrate data from older MBP but they keep disconnecting as soon as the transfer is about to start.

Use the Setup Assistant during your initial setup of the new computer. You will need to connect your old computer to the new computer to do this. You can do this using a current Time Machine backup of the old computer if you can connect the backup drive to the new computer. See Target Disk Mode and About Windows Migration Assistant.

  • Transfer license from old computer to new computer

HI can you help me transfer my office 2010 prfessional plus license from my windows vista laptop (where it keeps crashing and i cannot activate the solution for this) to my windows 8 laptop. Office will be removed and uninstalled from the vista machine.
    Thanks
    Darren Vincent

    Hi,
You can install Office 2010 on your Windows 8  laptop and activate it.
If you have trouble activating Office 2010 on Windows 8  laptop, please do a phone activation in Office and the phone activation process will provide you with the appropriate phone number to call. Then explain
to the service (Human being) your scenario that you want to transfer Office to a new PC.
You can find your local custom support number on the link below.http://support.microsoft.com/gp/customer-service-phone-numbers/en-us
    Hope this can help.

  • What do I need to migrate files from old eMac to new iMac?

I just purchased a new iMac and need to transfer information from my old eMac to the new one. I have not even taken the iMac out of the box, just read over the booklet.
What do I need to have to be prepared to migrate information from the start up application?  USB cable? Firewire cable? I just want to be prepared so I can get it done at one setting.  There isn't a lot of room on the desk for 2 Mac's for an extended period of time.

When you boot the new Mac, choose Migration Assistant to transfer all your data.

  • Is there a way to transfer windows 8 license from old pc to new macbook air?

I got a macbook air about a month ago.  I was wondering if it was possible to transfer the windows 8 os license from my old pc laptop to the macbook air?

If you bought Windows 8 on a DVD, you can transfer the license from your PC to the MacBook Air, always that you remove Windows 8 from your old PC.
If Windows 8 came with the PC, you can use that license only with your PC, not with the Mac

  • Migration Assistant from old iMac to new iMac

I have just purchased a new iMac and on startup the setup assistant allows me to move all my data and setup from my old iMac to my new iMac. However when I start although both iMacs seem to acknowledge each other the transfer does not occur.
I new iMac asks me to install sharing software which I have done successfully.
The new iMac gives me a number to enter onto the old iMac via Migration Assistant. The old iMac finds the new iMac and asks for the number. Upon entry the new iMac moves from 'Searching for computers' to 'Preparing information' but then after about 10 minutes says 'Error connecting to network'.
The new iMac is connected to my router via an ethernet cable, my old iMac is connected to the network via wireless. I don't have a firewire cable to use.
    Any help appreciated.

  • Cleanest way to migrate date from old mac to new

Getting ready to purchase a new imac. Im wondering what route to take to more my data over. Id like to make sure the new machine stays as clean as possible and not carry over any potential issues. Does migration or setup assistant filter out unnecessary or even conflicting files? Is it better to move individual files and if so can i do this using Time Machine? I have both a time machine back up as well as CCC back up to choose from also.

Right-click one in iTunes, find its location from the Get Info window, and copy the item at that location as well as any others to the new computer, or redownload them from the iTunes Store on the new computer.
