Migration A report or A Dashboard from One Env to Other ?

Hi All,
How do we migrate a DasHBOARD or a REPORT from One env to Other env manually as well as with Catalog manager ?

Hi Shivaji,
Open your catalog manager 2 times i mean 2 catalog managers (2 instances)
Login in one catalog manager with the source from where you want to copy the reports..
Login in another catalog manager with other , which is target.
Now copy from the existed folders and paste in particular folders you want...
As per my knowledge, there is problem while copying dashboard pages.. and you need to create the dashboard pages manually and create objects..
i need to work on this and let you know..
I think you might have known how to copy the dashboards..
Go to particular _Portal* path of particular shared folder
There you find the dashboard pages.. and layout..
Need to copy these and paste in another environment
But no problem in copying the reports..

Identify the "class=MyStyle" string in the MTML code, and use the Multi-File Find and Replace feature to step through each topic and change the specific instances to "class=MyOtherStyle." (I doubt that you'll want to "Replace All".)

URGENT: How to selectively migrate composite instances and task data from one env to another

Gurus,
We've come across a situation whereby we need to migrate instance data (including Human Task related) of some specific composites from one environment to another.
(Environment is equivalent here to a different domain installation on different physical server.)
Is this possible in some standard way like using Oracle import-export utility or script?
If not, how can this be achieved?

Hi,
If your SharePoint environment supports InfoPath Forms, then you can customize the form and add rules to make the list items as read only when user A submits the form.
you can then write a form load event to check the logged in user using username() function. This logic can be implemented in variety of ways, like setting a flag when User A submits the form, or storing user A username in a form variable etc., else comparing
User A and User B values within form Load event.
Another way of doing this is using Views or grouping all of the User A fields within a section etc.,
The above would take care of Form logic, and for the workflow, you can use SharePoint designer to create a custom workflow, where it will run on onItemCreate and onItemChange events.
The logic for workflow would be if the form Submitted for the first time, the workflow will start and send an email to User B, and when User B submits the Data then onItemChange change event will start the workflow to send an email to approver to approve
the data.

Problem while moving Web Dynpro code from one env to other

Hi Experts,
I have developed some Web Dynpro program in Development Environment. The Web Dynpro program uses BAPI and gets data from R/3. I have to transfer the Web Dynpro program to Quality environment. When I am trying to compile, I am getting following error message:
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to resolve JCO destination name 'DT8_METADATA' in the SLD. No such JCO destination is defined in the SLD.
In Development environment, I have created JCOs called DT8_METADATA and DT8_METADATA. Is it important for me to create same named JCO in Quality as well.

the JCO destination names u have created in Dev also needs to be created in Qlty also with targetd destination msgserver.

Incosistent execution from One Env to Other

Hi ,
I am working on application which has search page .It allows user to search PO's based on certain parameters ,ie ,like PO#,Customer Name & customer Number(i have lov for this), Start date ,end date ,etc.
While running this search page on local machine and in Dev environment, it returns results based on different values mentioned for the attributes described above except for Customer Name/Number.
When search is performed based on customer Name on local machine instance, it returns the resultset , however, for the same criteria ,it doesnt return the resultset when executed on Dev instance of Oracle Apps 11.5.10 .
I have already doublechecked the code ,database connection ..but no success.
Any ideas where things could be wrong from my local instance to Oracle apps dev instance ??

so i finally figured the Sql string on dev instance v/s local instance (Jdev and local OC4J). Seems like on the local instance it generates the query with "Like" clause for Customer column , however , on Dev server instance it equates the value of customer with the bind parameter .
ie , for example Customer Value as compared in the application now is concatenation of Customer Name + Customer Number
Something like - WAL-MART CHINA(123234)
So the query on the dev server is
select * from (
Select customer_name||'('||customer_number||') customer
from xyz )where customer = :1
-- this fails since it equates to WAL-MART CHINA
Query on Local instance
select * from (
Select customer_name||'('||customer_number||') customer
from xyz )where customer like :1
-- This runs fine since % covers the customer_number while comparing Customer_Name value to it
any idea why i am seeing this descrepancy from Dev instance to local instance??

Export Financial reports from one env. to another

Hi,
I have a question regarding Hyperion FR export.
Is it possible to export a set of reports at once from one env. to another.
I'm able to export and import one report at a time..Just wondering, how's this going to work if we have huge number of reports to be exported.

Just curious to know the reasons for changing the connections. There are a couple of ways to manage different scenarios
1. Are you migrating from one environment to the next (ie: Test to Production).
Setup the connections in the Database Connection Manager with the same "DATABASE CONNECTION NAME" in both the Test and Production environment (the underlying application and database for each connection would correspond to the appropriate Test/Production server/Application:Database). Then when you export and import between the 2 environments there is no need to change the connections on the report.
2. Are you changing connections because your database changes monthly/quarterly/annually?
In the database connection manager setup a general "DATABASE CONNECTION NAME" like Production or Active or Current. Then each month/quarter/year go to the Database Connection Manager and Edit the Production connection to point to the new application:database and all reports that use that connection will change as well.
This may not help you current situation but it is helpful in managing reports going forward as they are developed and updated.

2>If there are 100 reports migrated from one environment to other environment and again we did small changes for 2 reports and if we want to migrate that 2 reports which was the best way to migrate is it possible any by XML.
3>One subject area can consist more than one fact table...?
4>Is it possible join fact-fact table if yes in which type of scenarios we will go for that.

Report not displaying data from one of the infoproviders

Hi Experts,
Issue: Report not displaying data from one of the infoproviders
I have a report 'ReportA' which has multiprovider MP1 as the source.
MP1 has two Infocubes IC1, IC2 in its design.
Now, when i execute the report, data from IC1 is displayed. But no data from IC2 is displayed.
Is there a setting i need to enable in MP1 ? or is there anything else that needs to be enabled ?

Hi All,
When i display data directly from the multi provider, without any restrictions, i cannot view the data from infocube IC2.
I feel its not an issue with the Query. It must be a problem with the setting in the Multiprovider MP1.
Infocube IC2 is a copy of Infocube IC1. Multiprovider MP1 first only had IC1 in its design. It was recently IC2 was also included.
I checked the Characteristics, all of them are assigned corectly.
Now, this issue sure has something to do wiht the setting of Multiprovider or please correct me if wrong.

I see that PU12 is an option. Anybody used that to migrate between SAP systems. Please provide some details

As far as data transfer, If have all normal configuration settings in your targeted system you can use LSMW (Use T.code AS91 in LSMW for recording) to transfer your data in your both cases.

Business Rules Migration from one server to other server

Hi All,
Can some body help on business rules migration from one server to other server? and also wt is the difference there in Export and import BR's and Administration repository to migrate.........i fail to understand if we export and import br's and need to change in xml target server and after import whether all users can able to see this imported BR's ?
then wt is the use of Administration option under Business Rules-->right click-->repository...connect--->need to connect oracle info....wt is this process? can some body help on this please........

Hi,
The methods are pretty much the same in what they do.
When you export rules it creates an xml file based on the selection you have picked, you can just log into EAS and do this you don't have knowledge about the repository, it is also useful for migrating across versions. You also have the option of changing the xml file before importing it into your target.
When you migrate the respository you have to physically connect to the database repository and have knowledge of the connection details, it is probably aimed directly at a system admin.
The options in both methods are pretty much the same, you can choose what you want to export or migrate.
You hit issues when you export/migrate for instance the location names change and need to be updated, you can update the xml file to change the locations though if you choose the migrate option you won't have that ability.
The next issue is the user/group accounts which is the biggest flaw, if the users/groups exist on the target and have the exact same SID then they will migrate otherwise they will usually get dropped.

Standard report which importe personnel number from one server to other

Dear Hcm Gurus.
Is any standard report exist in SAP Which imports Personnel number from one server to other server which are maintained in Source server ,imported all contents maintained in source server.
e.g An employee is hired in u201C Server Au201D and personnel number is generated internally while we want to imports same employee data with same personnel number in Server u201CBu201D
IS it possible ? if is kindly do help and clarify any standard report which import complete data from one server to other server with all its infotypes.

Hi,
a standard way should be setting up an ALE scenario between the two systems to transfer employee data and keep them updated. This needs a bit more set up than a single report to be run but it is a common way to create HR landscapes where different local HR systems consolidate data to a centralized system.
The other options are valid, too. But I know them more for transfering data for test or validation reasons.
If you could add some more information to the business background of your requirement we could add give a better suggestion which solution to head for.

1) The best is to do the test. In my case, my customer was just doing this transfer (in full) to perform tests on the BEX reportings. Actually, they never raised any issue regarding document number when they did additional postings in test system... I would also say that during the transfer, the number counter in Qual gets not synchronized with the one in Prod. So, I think the system will just take the next number available in Qual. Should not be an issue.
2) As explained in answer 1), in my case, the purpose was not to perform data migration from one system to the other one. Thus, my customer never performed a subsequent consolidation in the target system. But, basically, the transfer copies all data : posting levels 00 to 30, for all periods you have selected + Additional financial data and sequence of activities. Thus, for me, everyhting is available in the target system, including COI documents. In other words, the "picture" regarding the data should be exactly the same between both system. The only thing you need to pay attention to is the customizing : it must be the same in Qual and Prod (example : date of acquisition and divestiture, structure of the group, etc...).
Another very important thing, is that your export data source must not be enriched due to the BCS Delta load scenario. If it is the case, the system will write the consolidation logic (i-e the consolidation group + reporting mode) when transferring the data from the source Real Time Infocube to the Target Real time infocube, which will lead to inconsistent data in the target system.
