Migration from Sharepoint to EP

Hi,
I have requirement where I have to do Full migration from Sharepoint Portal to EP.please share some information on the steps involved in migration from Sharepoint to EP.
Thanks in advance,
Pramod

Hi Pramod,
some properties are mappable directly: name, description...
Often, one has defined special metadata properties on SharePoint. You can define corresponding predefined properties on KM site, for example restricted to the repository into which you will import the SharePoint files/versions (CM repository).
The mapping then has to be done by your own. We have just created a mapping table which SP property on the left side and the KM property on the right side. Then the program can be quite generic, reacting on reading a SP property, checking the mapping table and creating the mapped property/value on KM.
Hope it helps

  • Migrating from SharePoint Online to an In House SharePoint Environment

What will be the method for clients to migrate from SharePoint Online to an In House SharePoint environment if the need arises in the future. I have had clients ask me this and I do not yet have a good answer.

    Hi Michael,
Right now, to migrate off of SharePoint Online, it is a manual process. You would need to copy the documents, lists, etc. all manually (suggest creating list templates that contain the data). Third party tools like those offered by Quest, Metalogix, and Casahl also work in this scenario.
However, we realize this is not ideal. We have heard several requests in this area and are now exploring options to provide an automated way to get your data off of SharePoint Online.

  • Please Help!! Lists and libraries suddenly blocked just before migrating from SharePoint 2007 to 2010

    Hi all,
I took several weeks preparing the migration of a large farm from SharePoint 2007 to 2010 using the system of restore databases and mount site collections. I've built the new farm and I have done several full migration tests to verify that all was well the
    day of final migration.
The farm consists of three virtual servers: one with SQL Server 2012 and two with SharePoint Server 2010. Upon completion of the tests we've moved the servers to another network. We have turned on the servers and everything seems to work fine.
Just the day of the final migration I wanted to check the HealtReports list of the Central Administration, and when I wanted to look up an alert, the view window has not shown me anything and ribbon has appeared with all options grayed. Days ago worked fine.
Alarmed by this, I have started to check all lists and libraries in the Central Administration and the same happens. I can not view or change the items, nor add. Neither I can change the properties of the lists or libraries, as if everything was locked. I
tried on the main site collection and same thing happens, and I have tried with several user with Total Control permissions. I have also verified that the site collection was not in ReadOnly mode.
I have restored a site collection from SharePoint 2007 and have migrated successfully to 2010. Before applying visual upgrade I found that the content is also locked. It is as if he had changed anything in the configuration of the whole farm, but I can not
find what. The Event Viewer of the three server shows no errors related to this. The SharePoint LOGS not show anything unusual.
I do not know where to look and urges me to find a solution because the old servers must be out of service soon. I accept any suggestions.
    Kind regards.

Finally I answer myself because I've already found and fixed the problem. Before moving the servers in farm to the another network I've unplugged the single SharePoint server from the farm database for to clone it. Apparently
this disconnection removes all the implemented solutions and the farm remains without servers. Reconnecting the servers not re-implements the solutions. When I was about to create a new farm I have seen that all solutions were not implemented,
I have implemented one by one and the system worked again.
If any of you happen reaches you, now you know what it may be due.
Kind regards!! Now I'm a happy man! ;)

  • Migration from Sharepoint 2001 to UCM

    Hi people,
A client would like to change his content management solution, he wants to move from sharepoint 2001 to UCM.
I'd like to know if someone has ever done such a migration and how ?
Which are the main steps of a migration ?
    Thanks for your answers!
    romain.

    Hi!
Do you have any additional constraints, like export whole document history, etc.
If it is simple document copying, as first approach I would try to simply drag and drop folder structure from SharePoint to UCM. I would first try on small sample of data to estimate, how long it would take and how reliable it is.

  • Migration from Sharepoint 2007 Website to Office 365

    Hi Experts,
I am beginner of sharepoint and want to know the steps of migrating the Sharepoint 2007 website to Office 365.I have searched at google and found a lot of third part tools available in the market but i dont know which is better procedure, manual or by
    some thrird party tool ?
    Regards,
    Lalit Narayan
    India

Having been working on a very similar project for a good few months, I could probably write a novel on this.
First, forget about the tool, there's isn't a golden utility that'll do everything for you.  This is due to the two generation gap between technologies and the move from on-premise to cloud.  Simply throwing a tool at this and hoping it'll work
    will cause you problems.
First, analyse your SP 2007 environment and work out what you think your pressure points will be.  For us, there were plenty, such as: -
    Custom workflows
    Densly populated lists
Changes in functionality, content types and so on
Obsecure changes to web part functionality
You'll want to see HOW any tool you look at handles these issues.  We ended up using Metalogix Content Matrix, which has a few troubles moving workflows and custom forms.  In the end these were recreated manually.

  • Migrate from Sharepoint 2003 to Sharepoint 2013

    Hi All,
We currently have three sharepoints farms built on 2003, 2010 and 2013.
I have successfully migrated /upgraded the SP 2010 to SP 2013.
However, the issue is that i want to do the same for the SP 2003 farm. Is there  a way i can migrate it to SP 2010 without first passing through SP 2007. If not,  will I need to do a fresh installation of SP 2007 farm just for this purpose.
I also know of third party tools but the overall aim is to achieve this at minimal cost.
    Kind Regards
    Louis
    thanks

I agree with Inderjeet. If you factor your time into it then minimal cost for this exercise will be a third party tool. Bluntly the only thing that's going to be worth keeping in there is some documentation so you might as well use robocopy and the virtual
path to move the files over.
To balance it you'd have to re-install 2007, migrate through all the stages rectifying issues along the way, in particular changing authentication methods, and then merely end up with sites and content designed for a different decade that look awful. One
additional jump (i.e. 2003-2010) is within the margin of tolerance, two additional hops is a hop too far.
If you've got 25GB or less then MetaLogix has a free version of their migration tool. Even if you've got more than that to move you're going to come out head and shoulders better doing a content migration than an upgrade.

  • After Migrating from Sharpoint 2010 to Sharepoint 2013 list filter options changed

    Hi All,
After migrating from SP 2010 to SP2013 i found list View filter option is changed and filter is not working Pls help its really urgent.... you can check field 1 and field 2 in following screen shot.
    Prasad kambar

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that your list filter cannot work after Migrating from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.
For your issue, please check your log files for any issues. Also you can refer to the blogs for troubleshooting SharePoint 2013 migration:
Firstly try running Test-SPContentDatabase on your source database for any issues -
    Test-SPContentDatabase - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607941.aspx
Troubleshoot site collection upgrade issues in SharePoint 2013 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219648.aspx
Verify database upgrades in SharePoint 2013 -http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc424972.aspx
And please have a look at your custom solution on your site.

  • Migrating to Sharepoint 2013 from 2010 - Can you use the same URL for the Web Application without affecting the 2010 environment?

    Hi,
I am currently trying to migrate our SharePoint 2010 environment to SharePoint 2013. The first thing I'm doing is creating a 2013 development environment to verify that this migration goes smoothly. I'm also doing this so that we will have a testing environment
after the upgrade to 2013 is complete.
So here is my question: I have a 3 tier farm including; 1 app server, 1 wfe, and 1 sql server. I have made a copy of our SharePoint 2010 database and installed that on our sql server 2012 sever (This new environment is on 3 completely separate servers from
our 2010 environment). I have also installed the prereqs and configured SharePoint 2013 on the App server and wfe servers, as well as configuring the necessary service applications (I have created a completely new 2013 database where I will migrate my 2010
    database content when I'm ready).
I am now at the point where I need to create a new web application on the 2013 app server, where I will be migrating the copied 2010 database.  (Also note that we have a 2010 development site called https://[email protected])
When I go to create a new web application in our 2013 dev environment, can I use the same url (https://[email protected]) to create this web app, or will this screw up our current 2010 dev environment?
I'm new to SharePoint migrations, so I apologize if this is a stupid question.
Thanks in advance for any insight you can share on this!
    Boe Barlage

So, what you are recommending is that before I create a web application in my new 2013 environment, I need go into my hosts file on my 2013 app server and alter it to point to my 2013 wfe.
Then after I do that, then I can create my new web application on my 2013 app server with the same url as my 2010 testing environment
    (https://[email protected]).
Then after that I should be able to access my new sharepoint 2013 environment at the same URL (https://[email protected])?
    I must be missing something.
In your first reply, you told me to alter the host file on my 2010 app server and point it to my 2010
wfe (I guess I thought it probably already is). You also told me to alter the host file on my 2013 app server and point it to my 2013 wfe.
so I am confused on after I do this, what url would I access my 2010 test environment, and what url would
I access my 2013 test environment?
I am fine with having my test environment as a different URL until I am totally ready to roll everything over and kill the 2010 site. But I want to make sure that when I migrate my database, none of the site links are broken.
I also want to make sure that if I proceed this way, I want to be sure that I will be able to modify the URL to what my 2010 environment is (without a lot of headaches) when I am ready to kill the 2010 site.
Thanks again for your help, it's much appreciated!

  • Data Migration from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
We have done a migration project for one of our client.
This migration was done from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Enterprise Server 2010.
After the migration was completed we developed lot of new webparts, lists ,application pages in this newly migrated farm in SharePoint Enterprise Server 2010.
However the entire project took around 1 year due to some unavoidable delays. During this one year our client was using MOSS 2007 sites for there work. hence the data in MOSS 2007 farm/sites was continuously updated.
Our client needs to go live in next month and also needs the sites/lists/libraries which are migrated in new SP 2010 farm to be updated as per the MOSS 2007 farm.
Kindly suggest best possible way to achieve this data migration since last 1 year from MOSS 2007 to newly migrated SharePoint Enterprise Server 2010 farm.
Kindly note we have done lot of customization and new developments in newly created SP 2010 farm.
    Thanks and regards,
    Amien

    Hi there,
If you have already taken care of customization on SP2010 server. Then use any of the migration tools available in market to migrate data to target SP server.
Content Matrix gives free 25 GB to migrate your SharePoint data (https://www.metalogix.com/Resources/Promotions/Content-Matrix-Migration-Express-Download.aspx).
If you don't know what is changed in last 1 year, then best thing to do is add new content database and migrate your data into it.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards,
    Tapan

  • Search not working in site collections migrated from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2013

I have few site collections migrated from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2013 using database attach (first to 2010 and then to 2013).
When I search for anything in these migrated sites, I get "Nothing here matches your search".
Checked the crawl log for these sites and see this error for all items.
The content processing component failed to process the security descriptor of the item. ( The input ACL is invalid (1210 / 2072).; ; SearchID =
    Some-Random-GUID )
Search works fine in newly created sites in 2013 environment.
    Please help.

    Hello
Did you migrate your users to claims when you migrated the databases?
    $wa = Get-SPWebApplication http://yourdom.com
    $wa.MigrateUsers($true)
    $wa.ProvisionGlobally()
I assume the sites that work and the migrated content are in the same database?

  • Migrating from Moss 2007 to SharePoint 2013

I am reaching out here as we require some inputs around migrating the SharePoint based application from MOSS 2007 to 2013.Please find more details from below
    Requirement:
Migrating SharePoint site collection (which contains just 1 Top level site and 2 libraries with in it and no item level/library level permissions exists) which is on MOSS 2007 with size of 500GB to SharePoint 2013, hence we like to know your inputs in related
    to this
    Note:
    1) The site collection has its own separate content database
    2) There are nearly 200 thousand documents where the document with higher version is 90
    3) The documents are stored in the libraries with up to third level of folder structure
    4) The site collection is created based on custom site definition (created using visual studio)
Few things that I like to mention/ask here
    a) Having 500GB data in one single content database inj the MOSS 2007 environment does it impacts the site performance?
    b) Migrating the site collection as is  onto single content database (all 500 GB into one content database) into destination SharePoint 2013, does it will be a good practice? Hope SharePoint 2013 content database limit is 200 GB, hence moving 500GB
as is into one database will it be good practice?
    c) Does database attach and detach works for the databases which are of size 500GB?
    d) Can we do database attach and detach directly from MOSS 2007 to directly onto SharePoint 2013, without hopping onto SharePoint 2010 in between and then later to SharePoint 2013?
    e) If moving 500GB data into one content database will not be a good approach, can we split it onto multiple databases?
    f) If database attach and detach doesn’t help for databases which are of size 500GB, should we go for any tool based approach? If yes, which tool does best fit?

    a) Having 500GB data in one single content database inj the MOSS 2007 environment does it impacts
    the site performance?
Inder: Yes, it will impact site performance at large extended, recommended is 200 gb only. Check it IO of your disk to analyze performance issue
    b) Migrating the site collection as is  onto single content database (all 500 GB into one content
database) into destination SharePoint 2013, does it will be a good practice? Hope SharePoint 2013 content database limit is 200 GB, hence moving 500GB as is into one database will it be good practice?
    Inder:
Content database size (all usage scenarios)
    4 TB per content database
    Supported
Content databases of up to 4 TB are supported when the following requirements are met:
Disk sub-system performance of 0.25 IOPs per GB. 2 IOPs per GB is recommended for optimal performance.
You must have developed plans for high availability, disaster recovery, future capacity, and performance testing.

    c) Does database attach and detach works for the databases which are of size 500GB?
    Inder: Yes it does work
    d) Can we do database attach and detach directly from MOSS 2007 to directly onto SharePoint 2013, without
hopping onto SharePoint 2010 in between and then later to SharePoint 2013?

    e) If moving 500GB data into one content database will not be a good approach, can we split it onto
    multiple databases?
Inder: you can go with 500 gb
