Migration of Directory.app

I'm doing some research from the migration of a 10.5 Server to a 10.6 Server and looking for migration information of the Directory.app that is on 10.5 From my reading there appears to command line migration tool for the Shared Contacts into Address Book Server on 10.6 however I'm looking for additional information on the 10.6 solutions of the Resources and Locations functions of directory.app. Specifically, are these functions available in 10.6 in a different location or function? In the Wiki Calendar or iCal you can still schedule a 'Location' but I can see where these are actually managed and maintained.

the directory utility has been split up, the part that managed server connections is part of the accounts pane in system preferences, the lower left of the main pane, and resources and locations are together in iCal utility, in the server applications folder in applications.
They work much better in 10.6, attendees in ical events work well as does the locations part,

Yes, I do the steps that you tell me. I follow the Migration Guide offers by SAP.
I check the DO GENERIC_SYNC_C2S and GENERIC_SYNC_S2C and it was OK.
I check the destination and it was OK.
I check the new entries in corresponding tables, and it was OK.
When I sync, I can see in "Client Communication Session Monitoring", inside Seesion Information, one line of type Post Messages and it have a message of data object GENERIC_SYNC_C2S. But if I select "Go to message monitoring" it haven´t nothing.
But in message monitoring i can´t see the data object GENERIC_SYNC_C2S or GENERIC_SYNC_S2C
Any idea please?

Migrate from Google Apps to Office 365 with admin credentials only

We are migrating from Google Apps to Office 365. I know the normal procedure of migrating, but I want to know how to migrate from gmail to office 365 with administrator credentials. Normally for migration, we use user's mail ID and password in CSV file.
But I don't want to use users credentials, instead I want to use only Administrator credentials.

Migrating Netscape Directory Server 4.1 to a new server

Hi,
In the current production environment, we are using Netscape Directory Server 4.1 as the authentication with Siebel CRM system. The server hardware is old and there is a need to refresh the server. As Netscape Directory Server is the only supported/ certified LDAP with embedded functionalities in Siebel Financial Services 6.0.2.300, we are planning to upgrade only the server hardware and migrate all the user information from old server and the new one, with Netscape Directory Server 4.1 remained.
I have studied the Netscape Directory Server 4.1 Deployment Guide and gone through the migration procedures, looks like the procedures are only applicable for migrating Netscape Directory Server to a newer version. There are no specific procedures mentioned for migrating Netscape Directory Server to the new server hardware with the same directory server version.
I am seeking for detailed procedures of migrating Netscape Directory Server 4.1 to a new server hardware with the same directory server. Anyone has done this migration before? I thank you in advance for your valuable feedback.

Luckily, I have the technical documentation in hand, which contains all the configuration of the current server. So I need to use "db2ldif" to export the data. I am currently testing on the migration by following these steps:
1. Install the new server.
2. Stop the Netscape Directory Server and Netscape Administration Server services in old server.
3. Copy the slapd-<server_name> folder from old server to a temp location of new server.
4. Take the old server offline.
5. Configure new server to have the exact configuration as the old server.
6. Backup the existing slapd-<server_name> folder in new server, copy the slapd-<server_name> folder from the temp location to C:\Netscape\Server4 directory of new server.
7. Start the Netscape Directory Server and Netscape Administration Server services in new server.
Will try out your suggested method. Thank you so much for your feedback.

Can i migrate a single app?

I've recently purchased a Mac Mini and thought I'd do most of my Photo work on this new computer. However, I own Aperature which is on my MacBook Air. Is there a way to migrate a single app? I've never used Aperature on my MacBook Air much and have had to default to iphoto on my other Macs, which are more likely to be located where I'll do more photo work.

Can I delete Directory app and Directory Utility?

Not sure this is the right forum for my question but in reading through some of the posts it seems like people here would know the answer. Can I delete the Directory app and Directory Utility from my machine, since I am not running a server or anything that would utilize those apps? I use my machine at home only, and have never had any need for those apps, seemingly. I am using Leopard 10.5.5. Thanks for input on this.

Member Directory App

I am looking for a free CF application that would allow me to
publish and manage the online membership directory of my family
organization. I want to post this on a subdomain of
www.SmithJohnson.info. I am looking for something that allows users
to request an account (but requires admin approval). Once the
account is approved, I want the member to have the ability to login
and view everyone's listing, but edit only their listing. If the
app includes a discussion forum, that would be great, but it's not
required. I'd be perfectly happy with just the membership portion.
If you know of a free CF app that's available, please reply
to this message. I would code it myself, but I do have to work for
a living and I don't really have time. Currently I'm using
www.TheFamilyPost.com, but I'm not comfortable with the fact that

I finally got it all to work, but I had to use a strange method. I tried several different variations, and this is the one that finally worked:
1.) From Directory.app, set each group's blog to viewable by group and editable by some. Exit Directory.app
2.) Open WGM, set each group's blog to viewable by group and editable by some. Exit WGM.
3.) From SA, restart web services.
4.) Open WGM, some of the groups will now have their wikis and calendaring turned off (I don't know why. It just happens.). Re-enable these for each group. Make sure the settings are viewable by group and editable by some.
5.) Exit WGM.
6.) From SA, restart web services.
7.) Open up Directory.app and you can properly control privileges from Directory.app without breaking the wikis. From now on, control wiki settings from Directory.app

Question on migrating the entire app directory.

Hello all, We are upgrading Essbase from 11.1.1.4 to 11.1.2.3. As a part of the migration as you all know one is supposed to copy the app directory over to the new server(target server). My question is does the source server have to be down when this app directory is getting copied over to the target server?On our dev server the copy took 12 hrs. So we are looking at ways to reduce the downtime on production. The essbase staging tool shuts off the source essbase server as a part of the migration and then one of the succeeding steps is to copy over the app directory. Now once the copy has been started can the essbase server be started(to reduce down time) while the copy is in progress or is it a must that the source must be down. Thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestion John, I will take the two step approach. Just one more question though, So When you say "hit on performance while copying the files" does it imply that the source can be up and running when copying locally? Thanks again.
Ok, just understood what you were saying, copy the app directly locally( after shutting of essbase on source) . Once the local copy is complete, bring the application back up, and then copy the local copy to target( and it is during this copy that there could be an impact on performance).

Migrate contacts in Addressbook to Directory.app

If i migrate my vCards from my Addressbook to the directory as described in the help they loose their pictures. How to do it without to add the pictures again?

Ok, on your Mac, go here: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ and copy the folder that is in there to someplace else. You can create a copy by dragging while holding down the option key. Hold the option key down when you let go of the mouse. You should see a little green plus badge on the proxy icon you are dragging. That file is the last backup of your iPhone. Apparently the only one you now have.
Go into iTunes and open the Preferences. Select Devices and check the box to not automatically sync iPhones and iPods
Now, connect your iPhone. It shouldn't automatically start syncing. If it does, try to stop it.
If it doesn't get to the Backing up part, you can continue below. If it did back up, copy the backup of the Backup folder into the above location.
Once the iPhone is mounted in iTunes, right-click on the iPhone and select Restore from Backup.

How to migrate Open Directory from 10.6 to another server with 10.8?

I have a Mac Pro running Mac OS X Server 10.6.8 with Open Directory active. Now I bought a new Mac Pro running MAC OS 10.8 and I also bought the OS X Server app.
What I want to know is how can I migrate the users and their home folders from old server with Snow Leopard to the new one? The Open Directory Archive does this job?

Ok. I did a test and I saw that it exports only the information account. So I suppose that I have to copy the home folder using scp or something similar. Is that correct?
I also have to keep the same hostname from the old server in the new server or this can be done in a different way?

In the migration of apps from my iMac to MacBookPro, one app did not migrate. Is there a way to redo the migration process but identify a single app and not the entire applications folder?

Migration from Oracle App Server 10.1.3.5 to WebLogic 12 - Expected issues?

Hi all,
the company I work for wants to migrate its Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 (with JRE 1.6) to WebLogic 12 and we need to guess which kind of remediation could be needed to have all web-apps still working.
The concerned applications are using dated technologies:
direct JDBC connections to db
JPA 1.0
connection pools with Oracle JDBC drivers
some apps are compiled with Java 1.4, some others with Java 1.6
servlet 2.3
JSP 2.0
We do not expect to come accross big issues but I'm not skilled on this kind of matters so I would like to receive seggestions or alerts from experts. Any remark will be appreciated.

Error while trying to migrate Classic HFM app to EPMA

Hello I currently have a classic HFM application 11.1.2.1.0.83 and I have to migrate it to EPMA
I already made a copy of the production App in a Virtual Machine and finish the process with positive results.
However when I try to do the migration on the production environment (same version, same user, same provision) I keep getting this error
APPNAME: Starting transformation
APPNAME: Changing product application to EPMA
APPNAME: Getting Metadata
APPNAME: Unable to get product metadata
Total Errors: 1 Total Warnings: 0
Then it says something about checking the logs, which I already did following this route ...\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\epma but nothing reporting an error or anything alike was registered
Reading the forums I havent found anything similar, except for one person trying to migrate a planning application, but it seems it was a problem with his period dimensions, I'm most certain that cannot be my issue since the application finished succesfully on my VM
Any help would be extremely appreciated I'm at a loss here
