  • DB Mirroring In SQL Server 2008 R2

Hello Everyone - Is it possible to configure database mirroring for reporting services ? What kind of challenges can I face? If possible please share Microsoft authentic document for db mirroring for reporting services. Hopes you will support.

    Hello,
It is not supported to mirror Reporting Services databases.
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/4deeb149-a15a-4f9e-8c17-54ed2174f8f0/configuring-ssrs-2008-for-mirrored-reportserver-and-reportservertempdb-databases?forum=sqlreportingservices
    (Gallardo – MSFT)
However, you have the option to scale-out reporting services. For more information:

    Hope this helps.

  • Mirror list status site

    Hi,
if you want to know the status of a mirror you could look here:
    http://users.archlinux.de/~gerbra/mirrorcheck.html
Since a few weeks i try to monitor and check our mirrors, report those with common problems on bugtracker and try to do researching what problems they have.
The HTML output is not finished, i'm working on it.
Cause the most international arch users read here i make this public announce ;-)

    Thanks for your comments!
And excuse my not so good english ;-)
Next week i assume the http output will get more significant and accurate. There are still "artifacts" from the versions history. First checks belongs to the difference of md5sum, mtime and size between the repo db files on ftp.archlinux.org and the mirrors. This take a long time and each run a traffic aroung 70Mb.
Then (thanks Pierre Schmitz, my "Oberboss") provide me md5sum, mtime and size data directly from the devel server.
But the main problem was: if you Devs update all or one db file the mtime diff against the mirrors
"explode" and most mirrors were flagged outdatet by false positive... So i work with offsets and work arounds...
Next step was that we could run a cron job on arch main rsync server which fill a file .lastsync with
the current UTC-Time each hour. With this i was able to do more accurate check when a mirror was last synced.
At the moment i have still a little problems with http mirrors, cause on some circumstands in the
threaded run the connection could not hold established for collecting all necassary informations.
So sometimes mirrors are flagged as having "data collection problems" although they are ok.
I work on this. And so i could study Ruby a little deeper (Hey, i LOVE Ruby ;-)
The quick info (tomk) for the impatient on top is a idea, thanks.
And so i wish to clear the other table data for better structure, maybe i could do it with css.

  • RAID Missing/Damaged Unknown Drive

I have a RAID mirror that had a drive go bad. I replaced the drive, but now the mirror reports a ghost drive that is missing or damaged but with a Device Node of Unknown.
I used diskutil checkraid and get:
    Name: Mirror 1
    Unique ID: 89E317AC-F25B-44AA-8E3F-FB583001F6F8
    Type: Mirror
    Status: Degraded
    Device Node: disk7
    Apple RAID Version: 2
    # Device Node UUID Status
    3 disk4s10 129D802F-2622-4EC7-AA78-36E1E938F99E 4% (Rebuilding)
    2 disk6s3 4F23DE97-9066-411C-BF01-2001CDAA00FA Online
    2 Unknown Missing/Damaged
    2 Unknown Missing/Damaged
This is the results after attempting to remove and add both good drives from the RAID. With the mirror degraded like this I can't properly monitor the RAID. The RAID is functional, just not monitorable.
How do I get the Unknown drives to go away and put the RAID back into a normal on-line state.
Thank you for your help and tips,
    ...Duane
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

There are several different chipsets that support port multipliers. A 4 port PM capable host card will support up to 20 drives, while a 2 port supports up to 10. The 4 port cards are usually significantly faster performers. Most any card that states it supports port multiplier will run most any port multiplier enclosure.
At the enclosure end I have only ever seen Silicon Image or Marvell chipsets used. And either SIlicon Image or Marvell based host card will run either of them.
That said, it is always possible you have something I have never seen or tested. Without details on the enclosure all I can do is guess or just tell you is get a PM capable host card and hook it up. Or you can pull the port multiplier board out and read the chip info off it.

  • Mirrored RAID:  MediaKit reports block size error

I am trying to create a 2nd set up backup drives for my photos.  I have two new iomega 2TB drives, which look essentially identical to drives I'm currently using as my primary backups as a mirrored RAID set.
I can start the process with freshly erased and reformatted drives (with the default mac format, extended, journaled, unencrypted, not case-sensitive).  And after a minute or three, I see
"MediaKit reports block size error, usually caused by not being a multiple of 512."
The RAID options are Mirrored RAID, Mac extended journaled, and options settings are default.
I see several series of posts with complaints about encrypting RAIDs and disk block sizes, but not unencrypted errors.   I actually started out trying to do this with the 2006 MBP running 10.6.8 and got a different error:  "POSIX reports:  the operation couldn't be completed. Operation not permitted."  I wasn't sure whether the 2TB RAID I already have was set up iwth the older or newer computer--it was definitely before I put Lion on this one--so I tried this one and now have a different error.
Any idea what the problem might be?

Update:  I spent some time on the phone with an Apple support RAID expert, and couldn't figure out what the error was; we couldn't bypass it by playing with partitions on the drives, or any of another couple of manuevers that I've already forgotten.  He noted that his own searches were showing a lot of mentions of similar problems but only with Iomega drives, and he was finding the same links I found earlier about problems creating encrypted drives.  Now trying to decide if it's worth throwing more good money after bad for a call with Iomega support, and waiting to see if the iomega forum is at all helpful.

  • Reporting/Mirror Instance

    Hello,
For offloading all the reporting load from the production instance , we are planning to create a reporting/Mirror EBS Instance in our environment.
The requirement is to refresh this instance daily from our DR database and this instance should be open for read as well as update(So in this case i cant use existing Standby DB as that can be open only in readonly mode).
And since the mirror instance is in the same box where the DR is running i thought it would be better to build this instance from DR environment rather than doing it from production RMAN hotback and later applying the archieve logs etc.
Has anyone done this kind of an exercise? I would really help any inputs/pointers in this direction.
I understand this is kind of automating the cloning task , and may require developing shell scripts to achieve this.
    DB Version:10.2.0.4
    Thanks for your help
    Nikhil

    Hi Nikhil,
The requirement is to refresh this instance daily from our DR database and this instance should be open for read as well as update(So in this case i cant use existing Standby DB as that can be open only in readonly mode).Have you considered using Dataguard and Flashback database to accomplish this goal? A high-level overview of the process is here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/scenarios.htm#SBYDB00707 This may not be an exact fit for your requirements, but it seems to be pretty close.

  • FrontEnd1 reports Database state on primary and on Mirror DatabaseUnavailable

I have a customer who have Lync Enterprise with 3 Front ends and SQL Backend and Mirror
On Frontend 1 the command "Get-CsDatabaseMirrorState -PoolFqdn lync.domain.com" reports that all databases state are unavailable while on Front end 2 and 3 it states normally "principal and mirror"
I couldn't detect any errors on either Frontends or SQL Backend or Mirror. the Monitoring tool from tasks on SQL Management states that databases are syncing.
I have tried restarting the Frontend 1 but still the issue occurs. anyone had this problem before?

  • App-V 5 Reporting Database SQL Mirroring

    Hi,
As I understand, there is a registry entry for the SQL string in order for the App-V Management Database to work with a mirrored database.  However, I've searched all over and could not find an equivalent setting to the Reporting Database.
I understand that the Management DB is important however in my organization we may have over 30,000 clients sending usage data to the reporting server so we would like to ensure that the Database server is fault tolerant by mirror the database.
It is my belief that the Reporting Database will grow larger and have more transactions than the Management Server Database due to client user log collection.

Thanks for the response.  We have implemented the same SQL string we use for Management DB for mirroring and it does not work for Reporting Server.  When we stopped the MSSQL services on the principal SQL DB server.  The App-V Reporting Server
    loses connectivity to the DB.
This is the string that we use for the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\AppV\Server\ReportingService
    Keyname: REPORTING_SQL_CONNECTION_STRING
    Data Source={0};Initial Catalog={1};Integrated Security=True;MultipleActiveResultSets=True;Asynchronous Processing=true;Failover Partner=FQDN_SQL_Mirror_server
We are able to verify that the Management DB with the failover partner string does work.
I just hope somebody from Microsoft can read this and help us out.  Because in a production App-V environment with many clients sending reporting data this will have more impact on our environment than the publishing or management servers.

  • OSU Mirror: mirror status reports 100%, not so for me

This morning, when I was upgrading, I began by running
    # pacman -Syy
    # pacman -Syu --ignore filesystem,bash
If you look at this thread (#41) you'll see that only part of the new packages were installed. I sync'd my mirrors again; no luck.
Several hours later, I ran the same commands again, and no luck: no packages were upgraded. Many packages were missing.
So, I began by checking the mirror status. The first server on my list mirrorlist showed a status of 100% with no errors or warnings today.
    http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/archlinux/    http     United States    100.0%
But, after commenting out that server, everything worked as expect. Hence, either something is corrupt on my machine, or the OSU server is not in sysnc.

  • A question about Logical Disk Performace collection Rules and how the Data is displayed in a Report view

    Hello
I am currently on SCOM 2007 R2 CU6 and Window Server Operating System MP version 6.0.6989.0 (I cannot use the latest version of the MP as we still have some Windows 2000 Servers we need to support, yes I know :( )
Any way the issue is, I have never found the Logical Disk performance counter data very reliable from SCOM.
For example, I have a Windows 2008 R2 Server and when looking at a local Logical Disk (which holds an SQL temp DB on a busy SQL Server) and look at the performance counter
The SCOM collection rule is called "Collection Rule for Average Disk Seconds per Transfer"
The actual Windows Perfmon counter is called "Avg. Disk Bytes/Transfer"
if you look at the description of the above Perfmon counter it is described as
"Avg. Disk Bytes/Transfer is the average number of bytes transferred to or from the disk during write or read operations."
The problem I have is as follows:
The resulting SCOM performance chart over several days (which has a scale ox 1x) states the value never reach 3 (e.g. maximum wa s 2.7 say). I cannot believe the a drive holding the tempDB databases for a busy SQL Server does not transfer more then 2.7 "bytes"
of data at a given to to its tempDB databases!
Indeed when I look at Permon on the Server and looks at this counter over say 20 minutes or so, the figure is often in the 10,000 or 30,000 bytes etc. It does fall back to 0 (zero) momentarily but mostly it is in the 1000s, or 10,000s etc.
Therefore when my boss says show me the "Avg. Disk Bytes/Transfer" and SCOM says it has not exceeded 2.7 over the last business week (i.e. the chart never peak above this value on the chart with scale 1x) he naturally does not believe it!!
Any advice please regarding the above. Is it the fact if the counter ever falls to zero it messes up the SCOM report charts?
    Thanks

Create your own collection rule, to mirror the sample times, and what not.  Look at the data from your rule vs the mp default rule.  It probably has to do with the chart scale imho.

  • Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adaptor not Mirroring

    13-inch MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) running 10.8.3
Monoprice Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adaptors freeze the system (no issues with Monoprice Mini DisplayPort to DVI connected to monitor) so I tried an Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adaptor and that works ok, EXCEPT it doesnt automatically mirror to projectors like older models I have used.
Is the 13-inch MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) supposed to auto mirror when connected to projectors using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adaptor?
    Thanks for any assistance.

I havent had a chance to test, yet it looks like if I create the settings for mirroring when the projector is attached to the laptop, the setting should stick moving forward..  I thought it just auto-sensed.  Will try and report back here if there are any changes or to solve the ticket...

  • Macbook Pro is freezing for a few seconds, every 3-6 minutes and the CPU is low during the freezes. (Etrecheck report included)

I've been trying to fix this for a few days now. I think it started the day after I hooked it up to mirror video to my TV, which I've done before with no issues. I've tried a few of the popular fixes like resetting the smc and pram, and I kind of feel like a tech genius right now for saying that, even though I don't really know what those things are
I also saw where people asking for help were asked to download a program and paste it's results, so I've done that. Here is the etrecheck report:

The problem with garbage software is that their uninstallation programs tend to be garbage as well. In the case of CleanMyMac, it is ineffective and leaves components behind. I verified that myself a few months ago and was curious if they had corrected it by now, but as of five days ago (my last test of it and similar junkware) it had not been addressed.
Only MacPaw, its developer, can know the reason its installer doesn't work, but I can think of two possibilities: either they are purposefully leaving those components behind for reasons known only to them, or they simply don't know what they're doing. Neither one of those possibilities is particularly comforting for the user.
Using CleanMyMac to remove what it considers "junk" will corrupt a system. I know of no way to recover from the effects of having used CleanMyMac than to completely erase the volume on which it was used, reinstall OS X and essential software from their original sources, and restore your essential work files and other documents from a backup that has not been corrupted by CleanMyMac or anything else.
This claim in particular is an outrageous one that cannot be justified under any circumstances:
The above screenshot was recorded on a brand new, previously erased Mavericks installation containing only one minimally configured User account. Just 500 MB can be removed "for free". Therefore there is no Mavericks - running Mac in existence that can be totally "cleaned" of what it considers "useless junk" without paying them for the privilege. Even if localization files (most of what it considers "useless") were to be removed, those files have exactly zero effect on a Mac's performance. On the other hand the lack of them will have effects only their respective developers can know.
MacKeeper on the other hand offers an effective uninstaller, but if you cannot find its app you may need to install MacKeeper again for the sole purpose of uninstalling it.
    Once installed, follow these instructions:
Follow these instructions to uninstall MacKeeper. They have been tested with the most recent version of MacKeeper. Earlier versions than the one released in 2012 require more extensive work to uninstall all its components.
If you actually used MacKeeper to alter your system, e.g. "remove excess binaries" or such, you will need to reinstall OS X as well as all your additional software. Uninstalling MacKeeper is insufficient to reverse the corruption it is capable of - once again, that is if you used it.
If you merely installed MacKeeper but did not use it to perform any particular action, the following instructions will suffice.
If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.
You will be asked to authenticate (twice):
You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:
Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.
After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk.
Uninstall Trusteer Rapport as well. Follow its instructions, which I believe are effective. Resorting to so - called "cleaners" and "zappers" is a bad idea that will only exacerbate your problems. At present, that Mac is a complete mess that cannot possibly operate as Apple designed it to operate.

  • AirPlay Screen Mirroring (Mavericks) disconnects frequently with "Feedback taking too long to send" message

My company has several TVs with AppleTVs (3rd generation units) connected in our conference rooms so we can "Screen Mirror" our Mac laptops via AirPlay during meetings. Many employees have complained that AirPlay Screen Mirroring drops frequently during meetings for no apparent reason.
In attempts to determine the cause of the issue, I removed the AppleTV units from Wi-Fi and hard-wired them all to the LAN (100Mbps/Full duplex, no switchport errors seen on the Cisco switch). I upgraded the AppleTVs to the latest firmware. I had our AppleTV users ensure they were running MacOS Mavericks with the latest software updates installed. I had the Mac laptops hard-wired into the LAN during meetings in the conference rooms. None of these changes resolved the AirPlay issue.
I reviewed the MacOS "/var/log/system.log" file from the laptops of several users that reported issues. I found a pattern that seemed to indicate that the "coreaudiod" process reported "Feedback taking too long to send" several times before the AppleTV connection was terminated. Also, from a network trace (using "tcpdump") taken during an unexpected AirPlay Screen Mirroring disconnection, I could see that the Mac laptop sent a TCP FIN packet to the AppleTV unit (this would indicate that the MacOS laptop initiated the closing of the AirPlay connection).
I have included the relevant log file entries below. Please note that the LAN internal to our company is "solid" and there have been no connectivity issues detected or reported during the times the AirPlay sessions were disconnected.
I believe I have found a workaround to this issue. By going into "System Preferences", "Sound" and then changing the "Output" device BACK to the "Internal Speakers" (rather than the AirPlay destination), the AirPlay Screen Monitoring connection seems to remain stable.
    My questions are:
    - is anyone else experiencing this type of problem? any other solutions recommended?
    - is there a way to change the AirPlay defaults so that Screen Mirroring only sends the video (not audio)?
    - does anyone know what the log file entries indicate (like, what does "Feedback taking too long to send...." mean)?
    - any fix planned for this issue?

I'm currently still experiencing this as well. I've confirmed it occurs on 10.9.1, 10.9.2, and 10.9.3 on MacBook Pro Retina's, Mid-2012 and 2013 MacBooks. It happens on multiple ATV's not just one, all are updated to 6.1.1 and a simple reboot seems to fix it temporarily but it does come back. All the ATV's are connecting to the network via Wireless not Ethernet. These are 3rd Gen ATV's but I checked the serial number and these do not match the bad batch of Apple TV's from 2013 that were offered up for Replacement for Apple due to the bad firmware update. None of the computers have the Firewall turned on. Here's the two logs that we always find after the issue occurs (logs are recent, happened this morning):
    5/30/14 8:57:36.017 AM coreaudiod[183]: 2014-05-30 08:57:36.016946 AM [AirPlay] ### Feedback taking too long to send (30 seconds, 17 total)
    5/30/14 8:57:36.332 AM coreaudiod[183]: 2014-05-30 08:57:36.331492 AM [AirPlay] ### Feedback failed: -6723/0xFFFFE5BD kCanceledErr
The user will get disconnected from Airplay anywhere between 30 seconds to 3 minutes after logging on and can reconnect but then once again get disconnected after the same time period. One interesting thing to note is that when the Feedback Taking Too Long to send error starts occuring and the countdown to disconnect start ticking down to 30, its solely referring to Audio not being sent over the network and Video is working just fine. If I try to play sound I get another log and the sound doesn't play through the speakers. After a reboot, sound works fine and the Feedback Error's do not show up. I've also tried switching to Internal Speakers (since it defaultly switches to Airplay Speakers) after connecting to Airplay and seeing the Feedback timer start in the Console Logs but even after that the log continues to saw its taking too long to send and disconnects in 30 seconds.
This issue has been ongoing for months, I've got a ticket logged as far back as January with this occuring but its infrequent enough that we've just restarted and moved on. I'd say its an issue that occurs to about 5%-10% of meetings but that's an entire meeting that doesn't have the ability to Airplay until someone comes down and reboots it.
I don't often post in this forum but its still an active issue with no resolution, proof that its occuring on other people's systems, and no firmware updates having been released to correct it. It'd be nice to know of any workarounds other than having to buy some lamp timers for each conference room just to get a functional ATV or putting up a sign that says hey if you get disconnected every 3 minutes, reboot the ATV. The whole reason we're using Apple products is for ease of use otherwise I'd put together a much cheaper solution myself. Any help or recommended troubleshooting steps would be fantastic at this point.

  • CR XI landscape report not printing correctly on one particular server

    Post Author: BronxJedi
    CA Forum: General
I have a report that was designed in Crystal XI (11.5.0.313) that is not previewing or printing correctly when the users access it on our production server. The report is designed as a landscape report, for an 8.5x11 size paper; however, when this report is previewed on the production server all of the data is pushed over to the left, as though the computer is trying to cram it all into a portrait-sized layout. Furthermore, when viewing the Document Properties of the report in preview it says that the page size is 11x17!
This report, I should mention, is part of a web application designed in Visual Studio. When users select a report to run the application actually displays the report as a PDF document in an Adobe Reader window. So, when I mention "preview" in this post it is not the Crystal Reports print preview window but rather an Adobe Reader window previewing the report as a PDF document.
None of the other landscape reports in this application are demonstrating this same problem. Also, the report in question previews and prints perfectly fine when it is run on other computers or servers.
Currently, we have eliminated design flaws in the report as a suspect because all of the pertinent properties in the report's design are set properly. We have also eliminated the users' printer settings as the culprit because the problem exists no matter who attempts to print that particular report and no matter what printer is chosen.
Right now we are operating under the assumption that the problem lies within the server (which is a new box that just replaced one which died...the hardware on this new box is different, I am told by our server guy, but everything else was mirrored from the old box); however, we are unsure of what to examine in our attempts to fix it.
The production server is running Win 2003 Server, R2, SP2 and there are no apparent printer drivers installed on the production server. We are using Adobe Reader 8.0 on all machines that can access this report.
If anybody out there has had this same problem or knows of anything else we can check (either on the production server or within the report's design) we'd appreciate it. Why would only this particular report be exhibiting this problem and why on Earth would the Adobe Document Properties think that the page size is 11x17?
    Thank you,
    Sean

Once you find an erroneous report, can the report be re-run over the same data (same parameters, same underlying data records after record selection) and the error duplicated?
Can you dump the data read by Crystal in the Detail section of the report?  (Verify the data is as expected...)
Can you post the stored procedure?  (Please wrap it in  markup to keep it readable.  A sample of both crosstabs wrapped in the markup would be helpful, too.)
