Missing Address Book Folder in Application Support

I've been having problems with my Address Book for a long time, now. Ever since my friend accidentally synced his iPhone with my computer and merged all our contacts. I had gone in and deleted the contacts, but the program has been buggy. As it stands, there are 0 Cards in my Address Book.
I loaded the BETA for Face Time for Mac to see how it worked, knowing that I had nothing in my Address Book. Or so I thought. The BETA application pulled names from way back when my friend had all his contacts on my computer, and my old ones, but they aren't around!!
I started looking around for what could be wrong, and realised the folder for Address Book in the Application Support folder is missing (i.e. ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/)... What do I do?
Please help.

Thanks for the "helpful" star feedback.

Is there an option for us non-Time Machine users?
I am getting an external hard-drive this winter, but I don't have one yet. So a solution other than that is ideal.
(1) Instead of Time Machine, you could restore your contacts from other backups you use. Moreover, there is no requirement for the backup files to be on a hard drive.
  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553
Even if you do not backup your entire startup disk, you will want backups of any important, expensive, or irreplaceable files plus those shown in this Apple article:
  http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8771.html
(2) If you have no backup, the only way I know to get your Address Book contact info back is to recreate it.
As soon as you re-enter your Address Book info, use the Address Book > File > Export... > Address Book Archive... menu command to create an archive.
The archive can be used to restore your data should the problem occur again. Rather than recreating the entire Address Book database, you can restore the archive and will then need to recreate only the changes since the archive was created.
Typical Address Book archives are only a few megabytes, so, in addition to keeping a copy in your Documents folder, you can save an extra copy on another computer, writable CD or DVD, or even Flash (jump) drive. To safeguard against loss due to hard disk crash, it is vital that you keep your principal backup/archive somewhere other than your startup disk. I think you can see that more than one copy on more than one media is a good idea.
I am slow on the keyboard, so I recreate my archive monthly in addition to Time Machine and the other backups I keep.

  • Address book data in application support folder

I need to use two sets of addresses/phones in my address book to sync with two different mobile phones.
When using tiger I used to copy the contents of the (user folder)/library/application support/AddressBook folder and kept it as a backup of each set.
I now upgraded to leopard and deleted the contents of the folder and replaced it with the other set, however the address book appears completely blank. I then replaced the contents of the folder with the original set of files, but the address book appears black again.
I tried to delete the preferences of the address book application, but had no success with that either.
Any ideas on how to recover my "lost" data?

  • Address Book Folder??

I deleted my user (For reasons I'd rather not say) so I am moving things to my new user by the "Deleted" user folder. I just realized I don't have my Address Book contacts! Is there a folder in the Home Folder that contains the Address Book Contacts?

you still have the "old" files right? just keep them as back up.
ok, quit ab ad all other applications, go back to your new homefolde/library/application support/address book folder and locate the three following items 1) addressbook.data, and tell me what size it is, then 2) metadata folder and 3) addressbook-v22.abcddb
your addressbook.data file should (depending on how many contacts you have) be of a sizeable size, if that is the case it means you did drag your address book data ok, so you only need to remove the two other items, the metadata folder and the .abcddb file. once you have removed them to the desktop for example, then open ab again and see if all your contacts are there. if so, then you can delete the two files you moved to the desktop.
    hope this helps

Why does Lion KEEP reversing changes you make in address book and other applications without your consent and without wanting it to??? Plus address book will NOT import old address book contacts from Snow Lepoard 10.6 and keep them.  This Lion OXS 7 is .. becoming very frustrating ... it will NOT keep changes made in the Address Book and it has destroyed my contacts which I only have electronically since 10.4 in my address book. I am NOT happy with this OS7 it has a lot of issues and faults.  How can one stop automatic reversing of data when inputting???
    Please help!
Wished I NEVER upgraded to this Lion!!!

Relax. Your address book database is corrupted.
If you are syncing your Contacts with MobileMe or something else, disable it for now.
Backup your address book by going to File>Export>Address Book Archive.
    Quit Address Book.
Open your Library by holding down the Option (alt) key while selecting the Go menu in Finder. Select Library. Navigate into your Application Support/AddressBook folder and delete the addressbook-v22.abcddb file.
Open Address Book. It will recreate the database from the raw data.
See how that works. If it is ok, then reenable syncing and see how that works.

  • How do I import existing contract with just "Address Book" folder?

I did a clean install of Leopard, and now my Tiger backup is unbootable. I do have access to the files, though. I need to get my contacts from my address book from my Tiger backup. I can't seem to get the Leopard Address Book to recognize any contacts from the old ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/ folder on my backup.
How do I accomplish getting my old contacts to my new install?

I figured it out. I took the ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/ folder from my old Tiger backup and placed that in my new Leopard /Library/Application Support/ while temporarily renaming the original. Opening up Address Book from there then opened up my old contacts. I then did an export.
After that, I deleted the old ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/ folder from my Tiger backup I put in my Leopard system, and restored my original Leopard /Address Book/ folder.
Then, I just imported the export I did from the old data.
    Tada.....it worked.

  • Missing Address Book Information

All of the data in my address book has mysteriously disappeared. It went from around 300 entries to nothing for no apparent reason.
If I try to insert a new address, the application seems to hang up and I have to force quit. I haven't installed anything new on my computer for some time. The address book and mail applications I use are both Apple.
Has anyone ever experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to recover my lost addresses? Thanks.

    Welcome to the discussions.
    Look in ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook.
There should be a file Addressbook.data, and there
may be another one called Addressbook.data.previous.
If the .previous is there, drag the .data out of the
way to the desktop and change the name of the
    .previous to Addressbook.data. Restart AddressBook
    and see what happens.
    It worked! Awesome!!
Thank you! I owe you one.

  • I can't find iweb folder in application support

    Hi
I formatted my macbook. Before format I back up domain.sites2.
Now I want to import domain.sites2 to new macbook (I mean formatted macbook)
I read forums and I saw that I have to copy+ paste this file to  library/application support/iweb
But there is no iweb folder in application support.
I double clicked domain.sites2 while located in desktop; İweb opened but I can't see my older pages.
    Please help me

Leave the old domain file in the iWeb folder and use the following app to see if it will let you open that particular domain file.
To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script"/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"
    delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
Due to Sandboxing by the operating system you may get a message that the app can't be opened because it's from an unregistered developer. In that case you can Control (right) - click on the app and select Open from the contextual menu OR create your own app from the code above using Applescript Editor.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For Mavericks, 10.9 ,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
You only need to run the app once or if you want to open a different domain file.

  • MIssing folder Library/Application Support/iCal folder

Hope this is in the correct discussion!
This folder is missing from my MBP. On Time Machine, I can't find it and have gone back to March 2012 when TM starts.
Does it create itself and what data would it hold?
I've lost all my iCal calendars and have a back up at 18/7/12. I've restored Library/Calendars but the entries don't show up in iCal. I'm told I need to restore Library/Application Support/iCal folder, but it's not there.
I've created a current entry (in a new calendar) but still no Library/Application Support/iCal folder.
Should I be trying to create it manually, somehow I don't think so?
    Thanks for any help.

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and provide ~/Library/Application Support/iWork/Keynote/Themes/ as the path.

  • Address book data but missing Address Book application

This is strange but after upgrading to Snow Leopard, I seem to be missing my Address Book application. I can see my address book data but I cannot launch the Address Book application.
I have my contacts synced with Mobile Me & I'm not sure where the app went. I can still sync but just can't open up the Address Book app (obviously)
I am not sure how to get my Address Book app back....any suggestions?

you don't need Pacifists for this one. insert the snow leopard DVD, open it in finder and double-click on optional installs->optional installs.mpkg. follow the instructions and choose to install Address Book. then reinstall 10.6.2 combo update to bring AB to its current version.

  • Missing address book

My address book went missing from the Doc a week or so ago so I drug icon from applications to the doc, Then several days ago before my bride & I left for a holiday I shut everything down, after returning I turned on computer & this AM found NO address book in Applications or on Doc. I have a G4 laptop and backed both up to dot mac/Mobile Me a couple of days before we left. Can I copy & burn onto CD Bring CD to desk top & Copy to both Apps folder & onto doc. More importantly what is happening & how can I prevent it from happening again. At Least I have one good copy (I think) of address book. If I were to sync w. dot mac/ Mobile ME would this bring it back to Desk Top box.

You can just connect one Mac to the other via Ethernet or use Target Disk Mode via FireWire and copy Address Book from the /HD/Applications folder on one to the same folder on the other. You can't copy a program to the Dock, because the Dock only holds aliases (links) to the actual program, and those are created by selecting the application and dragging it's icon to the Dock.
As for the cause, it could be many different things, but you should check how much free space is left on your hard drive; if it's 10 GB or less, it's time to start getting rid of things you don't need. Mac OS X requires a minimum of 10 GB of free disk space; otherwise things like this will happen.

Are you new to that webhosting service? <br /> Have you ever uploaded web pages to that same web hosting service previously, pages that worked after an upload? <br /> Are those pages listed as ''' "public" ''' pages in your web hosts control panel?
My suggestion is to "download" your homepage and associated files & images from your PC, up to the server, using your web hosts control panel and see how that works.
Beyond that, I suspect that you might have missed an important setting in Dreanweaver for uploading to the web host's server. You might try asking about this issue at a Dreamweaver support forum.
