MISSING ASSET AFTER BURNING DVD

Hello all,
I worked with DVD Studio Pro 4.2.2 (snow leopard Mac OS X v10.6.4) I've finished a DVD with many videos and images right now, everything is where it has to be, I haven't moved anything, there SHOULD be no missing assets, as I have moved NOTHING.
Thus, I burnt my DVD and I checked it out... And voilá... when I checked the DVD there are some random red screen displaying this message "Missing asset 'name X'"
Does anyone know why this is happening??? I'm going mad with this!!!
Thank you very much in advance

Hi Harm,
you were absolutely right. I was either suspecting the large avi file to be to heavily compressed or my dvd burner but NO...i just bought some TDK 16 DVD-R and the whole thing was solved. Saves me a lot of trouble, no new DVD-R, no new software.... tx mate :)
ps do you know any gud site where i can found some good audio samples which can be used for DVD menus?

  • Found grease on disks after burning DVDs or CDs

I own a brand new iMAC G5. After burning couple DVDs using the super drive, I found some grease spots on some of the disks. The grease spots had caused the DVDs unusable/unreadable anymore.
I called AppleCare, they said they will replace my drive.
Grease in a drive! This is weird. Has anyone experienced it before?

    Darth, welcome to the discussions.
As with anything that is MASS PRODUCED this can happen,
I think this is the 2nd time I have seen this issue in 2 years.
Apple said they will fix it so there is not a problem.
    Cheers Don

  • IMac shuts down after burning DVDs.

Brand new aluminum iMac 20" with Tiger 10.4.11 installed. We've found that after burning a DVD(-R) the iMac just shuts off - bizarre.
Any ideas why this is happening? Fix?

That's interesting, so it's not a heat problem then. So do just a few of us have defective iMac burners, or does everyone? Friends of mine who use Mac laptops for processing similar files to me, have not had this problem of mid-burn shutdown, nor has a friend in UK on a pre-Intel iMac and 10.4.9. I tried several different brands of CDs and DVDs including TDK, Verbatim Data-life Plus (usually very reliable), and DataStream. All failed equally. So far the external LaCie burner is working well and is a work around for the problem. Why was it that only the aif files failed for me? You would think if there was a Mac problem then we would all have the same thing happening?

  • After burning dvd, the audio out runs the actions or speaking

after the dvd is made and i play it back on a dvd player, it is as if the audio is being heard before the actuall speaking. why is this?

They were all encoded in compressor and all are about 7.6 Mb/s. The thing is, only 2 of 14 have the issue. Granted, they are the 2 longest, but not by that much. And it is out of sync for the entire program, it doesn't gradually get out of sync. Also, opening the Video_TS folder (on the computer, not the disk) in VLC shows the same problem, so its not the player, the disk media, or even the burning process. It's somewhere in the "build" process. I will try a lower data rate for those two, but it should be fine for less than an hour of material.

  • After burning DVD, DVD player cannot play main menu

    Hi all,
I created a project with a main menu with several links to submenus in Encore. When i take a preview it all looks great. However after burning the DVD, the DVD reader is unable to lanch the CD to it's master main menu (set as first play) and after a long time searching, it starts one of the submenus. There i have a link back to the main menu, but it doesn't seem to work.
I tried this on several DVD players but all has the same problem. I also create a DVD folder on HD, there it works.
I'm pretty sure my DVD burner works fine. Could it be that Encore is using too heavy compression (the avi file is 29Gig and fits on 1 DVD) that can not be use for let's say cheaper version of DVD players? (2 years old).
If not, any other idea where the problem could be ??
    Tx

  • Bad quallity film after burning dvd with idvdv professional quality.

After making a movie in imovie and importing it in idvdv the quality is still HD
after burning a dvd with professional quality the quatity of the dvdv is very poor. Horizontal lines are dancing over the screen!!
Can anyone tell me wat is going on???

Keep in mind that all Dvd's burned through your mac and are playable on your mac as well as your set top DVD player are ALWAYS standard definition /SD. There is no way around this (that is if your intentions is for playback on most computers and most set top Dvd Players.
One of the limiting factors is apple's dvd player app. It isn't fully blu-ray compatible yet. Meaning that even if you did burn a high def. Dvd which is only playble on Sony's PS3 and most set top Blu-ray players .... the finished Dvd won't play on your mac since apple has yet to update/upgrade their DVD Player application to fully incorporate Blu-ray standards. To the best of my knowledge, apple's support is very limited here. Hence the alternative for mac users is to use Roxio Toast's Blu-ray plug in as well as Toast Blu-ray player. If you opt to go high def through Toast then the completed Dvd will NOT play on most set top dvd players but will on most Blu-ray Players as well as Sony's PS3.
Hope this advice helps but if not just come on back.

  • My Mac has blocked after burning DVD

    Hi there.
My iMac has blocked after burning couple of DVD.  It keeps on freezing after restarting.  Mouse can't move.

MacBook Pro screen goes to freeze condition when iTunes is open, I had to close this app pressing "Comman+Q".

  • Out of focus photos after burning dvd.

I am using Magic iDVD in iDVD 08. Have created a movie with photos imported from iPhoto. All appears to be well when I preview the movie prior to burning it (i.e. photos are clear and sharp, and burning process appears to go as it should). But when I view the burned DVD all the photos are quite out of focus. This occurs whether I watch the DVD on my iMac or TV. Am using Philips DVD-R discs. Have tried different encoding settings with no difference in results.

It looks to me like the flash fired for the shot, but the camera also kept the shutter open for a fairly long time to reach optimum exposure.  Can you check and see how long the exposure was?  It appears that the bright, flashed parts of the photo are sharp, so I don't think it's an optical problem.  The flash froze some of the image, but handheld camera shake created the blurring.  Try a similar shot on a solid tripod.  Or reset the exposure so that it's short enough to handhold and try again.  I'll often do dusk or nighttime shots on aperture priority setting with a flash to light up someone in the foreground.  The shutter stays open long enough to light up the dark, unflashed areas in the background, leading to a long exposure, so I have to use a tripod and have a model that can stay very still.  Otherwise the photos end up looking like your shot.  As far as saving the photo that you posted--it would take a huge amount of effort by someone that's very good with Photoshop.

  • Do not want dual audio after burning dvd

I have .avi movie with two different languages and after burning are both in movie while playing. I would like to set only one language before burning it with iDVD. Thanks

    Hi
I think You support to little info.
    • .avi is no Codec but just a container - so what's in it ?
    • iDVD has just a few video codec that it accepts
    • there are no multilingual funcion in iDVD - so each language has to be it's own free movie (will take up no: x places eg three movies = three times more space needed)
So may be I'm not really understanding Your problem - so Please Re-Phrase and add more info and step by step description on how You try to do this.

  • Audio problem after burned DVD on set top player only?

My burned DVD's play great on any computer PC or MAC but on client's (and mine) set top DVD player the first 3 seconds of the 30-min program don't play any audio???
Client's set top DVD player is brand new and has HDMI out puts, my player is old, 3 years maybe but both players do the exact same thing...the DVD's we're trying to play on the DVD players are all built and burnt from Mac using DVD SP. So the menus all work, even the audio perfectly, but when you choose the program it won't play the audio for 3 sec, then it kicks in, though the video plays perfectly from beginning. I've got 1 sec of Black at the head of program, then it fades up to first shot. I've got that same black slug on both audio tracks for 1 sec as well...tried with and without the black in the audio tracks, no change. Now on a 4 year old Panasonic EM-50 something DVD recorder/player the DVD's did work.
    Thoughts?

    Hi tomwros
Welcome to apple discussions. Sorry to hear you are having problems navigating a burned disc. In most cases on apple discussions it's the result of the media and not of the hardware / software.
Please tell us which brands you have tried. Include speed of the media itself and if it's plus or minus media. Also when you used Roxio Toast, what speed did you burn at within Toast?

  • Audio Sync issue after burning DVD

This is a strange one. I have a DVD made up of several videos of various length. One 15 minutes, One 7 minutes, and the rest under 5 minutes & 17 seconds. The problem is that the two longer ones are out of sync on the burned DVD (and even the build playing in VLC) even though they are fine throughout the rest of the process (FCP, DVDSP timeline, & DVDSP simulation). The rest of the videos are also just fine. I have no idea what to do about it.

They were all encoded in compressor and all are about 7.6 Mb/s. The thing is, only 2 of 14 have the issue. Granted, they are the 2 longest, but not by that much. • After burning DVD, menus work on DVD player but assets won't play

When I click on the "play movie" button the dvd freezes and won't play. But it works just fine in the simulator. Please help ASAP

You realize there's almost nothing we can do for you, don't you? Authoring a DVD is not trivial and we were not watching to know what you did or did not do in what can be a tricky set of procedures.
You can start by telling us what your source media is, how you built your menus, the level of complexity of your project, how many other DVDs you've successfully completed. Stuff like that.

  • Anyone with a clear workflow of what to do with projects after burned DVD

I am in dire need of help.
I've completed a project using FCE-export to iMovie-shared over to iDVD-and burned on a DVD
I want to keep the project in case the client wants another copy, or even to make changes.
I tried to start another project, but it said low disc space.
I then bought a Seagate external drive 160gb to try and transfer files over, but at this point, I've moved things over that I wasn't really sure should be moved.
    I have a Mac OS X version 10.4.10 -Processor: 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo-Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM - startup disk Macintosh HD

**What happened to the Auto Saves?**
*The Autosave Vault is still here, but as I try and open the most recent file, another popup says 'Missing Disks' -To preserve the integrity of the data used by Final Cut Express HD, its necessary to ensure the existence of the following paths:---'Unknown' is offline (is whats in the box)*
**Are there OFF-LINE clips in the Timeline (if openable)?**
*I can't open the FCE projects at this moment.*
    **What format is the external?**
*It was someone else who suggested below:*
    *-Go into Disk Utility*
    *-Select the disk*
*-Make sure all your files are off the drive before you do this:*
*-Change Format to Mac OS Extended.*
*The files that were on the external, I trashed, I thought since I dragged it there initially from the startup disk, it was a copy. As I did the above suggestion, right now, I can't see the external anywhere, but yet its plugged to the MacBook Pro.*
**It's important to know the difference between a Project, Scratch Disc and a project file.**
**Where is the project file located - internal or external?**
*It was external and internal, but after the suggestion of another person, I trashed all files in the external, and now its only the INTERNAL.*
*The project file is located under project files that I created under DOCUMENTS, but as I try the FCE project files, it says the same pop up as above 'Missing Disks'*
*As I try and open the project's iDVD project file, the pop up is 'Missing Files.'*
**Answers to these questions will be helpfull to us.**
*Thank you kindly for your time.*

  • Jerky video after burning DVD in iDVD 08

I have exported video from FCE4 into a standard self contained QT movie. If I preview this movie then everything looks fine. I can also import the movie into iDVD and preview and still it looks fine.
Once the disk has been burned however, any motion appears jerky/blurred (moving arms, walking across camera, etc). I have the DVD set to burn at 2x speed using Sony DVD-R media.
Does anyone know what is causing this and how I can fix it?

I just now tried the same approach (via capture now) but I'm guessing FCP HD Version 4.5 doesn't have that very same feature built into it ....
Unless the terminology is different and "Shift Fields" is the same as De-interlace ..... not sure. However, I'm inclined to think they may be different tools.
    To quote StudioX:
De-interlacing removes 1 field - thereby initially reducing the vertical resolution in half. (If you started with a DV 720x480 image, you now have a 720x240 image). As the program adds the pixels back to keep the overall frame size at the original (eg 720x480), the program will interpolate the missing pixels with the result of an over all softening of the image.
Why de-interlace? When there is significant motion artifacts (combing) of an image or the flicker of a freeze frame is just too much or you are going out to a progressive display system (aka the web).

  • Pixelated, interlaced pics after burning dvd

my first dvd I burned from the project I am working on was fine but needed a couple changes such as sound and buttons. When I burned the final DVD I am having problems with the last slide show. The last 10 pictures are coming out interlaced. Not sure if that is the right term but they are all screwed up. I have replaced the pictures, restarted and quit out of all programs that I don't need before burning. Any suggestions?

    Hi
    Two possible reasons:
    a. Using the Share/Export to iDVD function in iMovie. Don't two errors occurs:
    • The DVD will show a severly pixelated result.
    • YOUR original movie project is Destroyed ! Photos needs to be re-imported and
    re-edited.
    Instead when done:
    • Close iMovie
    • Open iDVD
    • Import Your movie into iDVD. Now iDVD will do the rendering and so much better.
    b. Low amount of free space on internal (start-up) hard disk gives strange behaviour
and result. Other hard disks don't counts.
I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space
    10 Gb might work
less than 5Gb Your Mac will have severe problems of many a kind.
    Yours Bengt W
