As Silal says there
Deselect the German language in the info box of the app (command+i on the app icon). You will then get a english version of the app.

  • Missing background image in firefox

    Hi , I have a problem with firefox not showing a frame bg image when it is the exact same height as the frame , the same page displays properly in safari . The frame has a fixed height ( in pixels ) . I noticed that it displays the bg image when the image is either smaller or taller thought . It's an ugly way to do it but I don't see another way to circumvent the problem . When the frame has a relative size even that way doesn't work .
    I tried with height:auto , putting bg color before bg image , leaving a default color ... , nothing works . Any help would be really appreciated
    body {
         background-image:url(Buttons/Background.png);
         background-repeat: repeat-x;
         background-color: #4A4F51;

    You should always post a link to a page that has a problem, this way people can see the result and the code, otherwise, it is just a big guessing game.

    As I was preparing to put it up on the web for you too look
    at the problem i
    noticed that I had inserted the bg image twice over top of
    each other once
    in the bottom table and another time in an overluying table
    and once I
    deleted one it seems to work now...I guess the browser got
    confused which to

  • Missing background colour in image rollover in IE

    Just noticed I have a missing image background colour on a
    rollover link - it's fine in firefox and safari, but awol in IE(6).
    link
    here
    The CSS looks like :
    a:link img {
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #999999;
    a:visited img {
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #999999;
    a:active img {
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #999999;
    a:hover img {
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #8C595A;
    background-color:#CD8B8D;
    Any ideas?

    Hi Everyone,
    Great thread. I thought you guys might find this interesting.
    There is an IE Img Hover Bug that most people run into with
    border color change on hover that answers some of the questions
    here.
    Lain71, at the end I included code you can use with a thick
    border that should do what you want and will work cross-browser.
    I thought it might be beneficial to anyone else searching the
    forum for IE img hover issues to offer some additional detail.
    Most people first run into trouble when they have an image
    link and try to handle border color change like you would on a text
    link. Unfortunately, this is incorrect CSS for doing this but it
    works in IE6 :-/ It doesn't .. as it shouldn't ..work in the Gecko
    browsers.
    a.blah{
    border: 3px;
    border-color: #CC0099;
    border-style:solid;
    a.blah:hover{
    border-color: #33FFFF;
    <a href="#" class="blah"><img src="mypic.gif"
    width="100" height="100"
    border="0" /></a>
    In IE6, the border changes color on hover. Also, note that IE
    is actually rendering the code incorrectly by stretching the border
    around the image inside the link element. So it achieves the
    desired effect....until...
    Testing the page in FF or NN is where the trouble starts, as
    you notice the border no longer surrounds the image.
    FF and NN render that code correctly by applying the border
    to the link element only.
    By doing so, the height of the border is equal to text line
    height ..as Joe mentioned..which is usually not the height of the
    image.
    This same effect happens with background color and background
    images when applied to a:hover.
    So, now to make it work in FF and NN you use the correct CSS
    to apply the border to the image inside the link, similar to
    Lain71's code:
    a.blah img{
    border: 3px;
    border-color: #CC0099;
    border-style:solid;
    a.blah:hover img{
    border-color: #33FFFF;
    <a href="#" class="blah">test<img src="mypic.gif"
    width="100" height="100"
    border="0" /></a>
    Now it works in FF and NN beautifully, but...
    Now it doesn't work in IE ! There's no hover effect.The
    border doesn't change color.
    And there's the "bug."
    *********The bug:
    In IE, you cannot apply a hover rule to an image link without
    first
    declaring a hover rule for that link. (Go figure!!!!!!).
    This works nicely, I've found.
    a.blah img{
    border: 3px;
    border-color: #CC0099;
    border-style:solid;
    a.blah:hover{
    background-color:transparent;}
    a.blah:hover img{
    border-color: #33FFFF;
    <a href="#" class="blah">test<img src="mypic.gif"
    width="100" height="100"
    border="0" /></a>
    Now it works in IE, NN and FF.
    So,
    a.blah:hover {background-color:transparent;}
    takes care of IE's need to apply a hover rule to the link
    before applying a hover rule to the image link without changing the
    look of things..
    Take care,
    Tim

  • Template - background image missing

    Hi I'm sorry to be back but I have another problem that I don't seem to be able to solve.  I have looked at similar posts online,  but don't seem to have found the answer.
    I have created a template from Dreamweavers blank templates.  I have made ONLY TWO CHANGES to the blank template.  I've added a background image, and removed the background colour from the .body element. I'm hoping this will help isolate my mistake.
    When I create a new page from this template the background image does not display.  I've noticed that the image path is changed in the child page - whereas the template displays the relative path, the full path is given in the child.  I don't know if this is part of the problem?
    The problem occurs both when I preview the site through a browser, as well as online.
    I know I should be using templates for site-building, so need to know what I'm doing wrong here.  Many thanks, and please remember that I'm a novice so put it very simply so that I can grasp what your saying!
    http://www.gillwykes.com/development/frank_test/testpage2.html
    Thanks!

    I just tried a different approach.  Created a new site, through Site Manager.  Created an new HTML paged and did Save as Template.  I then added an image ( which is stored in the images folder in the site) as a background through Page Properties.  I saved and closed the template, and did File, New Page from Template.  The image did not display, and the path to the image was changed.  Here is the code.
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

    </html>
    and
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/test1.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->

    <!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
    <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="head" -->

    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    <!-- InstanceEnd --></html>
    I'm obviouly missing something along the line.  It can't be a glitch in CS5.5 because it would be known by now!  But I've tried so many different files and methods now I'm totally confused.
    Next step, seeing if I can edit it in Notepad, and how that afffects things, and also digging out a previous version of Dreamweaver and see what happens there.  Will let you know!

  • No background images and missing styles - everything white

    somehow every page on firefox displays white with no style or background images. I thought it might have been something having to do with firebug or developer plugin, so I disabled them both, upgraded to the latest firefox version and STILL I have a white screen.

    I appreciate the response. I checked the settingx you suggested and everything was correct.
    I'm on a mac. Below is the shot of the firefox post we're in right now.

    So this is not a specific site - its ALL sites... As you can see.... all images and color are missing.
    Thanks!

  • Missing background icon image on wrapping text in IE

    I'm using css to add a background image to links in a
    paragraph (adding a pdf icon for a link that points to a pdf, an
    arrow to a link to an external site...etc). Using "background:
    url(/images/shared/icons/pdf-document.gif) no-repeat left 0.2em;
    padding-left: 18px;" works as long as the text in the link doesn't
    wrap. In IE, if the text wraps the background image disappears, but
    the space for it (because of the padding) is still there. If I
    resize the browser so the text does not wrap the image suddenly
    appears. Any other browser the image is there. The doctype is xhtml
    1.0 strict.
    Does anybody have any suggestions on how to handle
    this?

    The code i pasted is just from a sample page. My actual website has lot more stuff in it and still does
    not show up.
    Best if you upload your page to the web and provide a link so we can see it.
    Pardon my ignorance but how do I save the image as RGB
    What software do you use to create/edit your images?
    In Photoshop, it's Image > Mode > RGB then Save for Web
    Most browsers can handle RGB (web) or CMYK (print) images.
    However IE cannot read CMYK images. Thus it's best to ensure all images are RGB.

  • DIV Background image not displaying in FF

    Hi!
    I'm building a floated 3 column DIV layout with a wrapper to center the DIVs. I put a background image in the wrapper to give the appearance of the columns stretching to the bottom of the layout. It displays in IE, but not in FF.
    If I give the wrapper a height, the background image shows, but I want the layout to expand as I enter content. My code is below.
    I must be missing something. Any tips?
    CSS:
    #left {
    float: left;
    width: 200px;
    #middle{
    float: left;
    width: 200px;
    #right {
    float: left;
    width: 200px;
    #footer {
    background-color: #316262;
    float: left;
    width: 600px;
    clear: both;
    #wrapper {
    width: 600px;
    margin-right: auto;
    margin-left: auto;
    background-image: url(images/bkg_css_layout.gif);
    BODY CODE:
    <div id="wrapper">
        <div id="left">Content for "left" Goes Here</div>
        <div id="middle"> Content for"middle" Goes Here </div>
        <div id="right">Content for"right" Goes Here </div>
        <div id="footer">Content for "footer" Goes Here</div>
    </div>

    Turns out that I couldn't have a float on my footer with clear:both!
    FIXED! YEA!

  • Why can't I select background images in Pages 5?

    So I've got a document with an image of a Gantt Chart, and it's been formatted to be in the background.
    When I try to insert a new page before this image, it overlays the text of another page.
    Trying to find 'select background images' is no where to be found, whereas in Pages 09, it was fine.
    I'm all for simplicity, but removing something like this, and not being able to select this image at all?
    Is there anything I've missed?

    This is not the answer to the original question but it is an answer to a related problem.
    Apparently, Apple removed the simple and useful "Send Object to Background" menu item. For the last half an hour I was straggling to put my signature image under my name in a letter. The image background is white. So, when I insert the image, it is on top of the text and blocking it.
    Then, I searched and found this discussion, it helped but not solved the problem. I found a solution inspired by this discussion. Here, what I tried to send an image to the background.
    Chose the image in question. When I selected "Arrange -> Section Masters -> Move Object to Page" as suggested in this thread, it moves the image to the background. BUT, the image appears on every page at the same position within the section. If the document is a single-section document (almost all my documents are single-section documents, as I use Pages for short simple documents like letters (in the near future, I'll say "I used to use Pages", as this kind of feature removal makes it unfeasible to use it anymore).
    Thus, you have to define a new section which should contain only the page in question. Enough rumbling! Here is exactly what I did:
    Let N be the page number on which you wish to put an object in the background.
    Go to page N (your cursor must be somewhere on that page)
    On the toolbar choose "Setup -> Section Tab -> Create a new section -> Starting with this page"
    Go to page N+1
    On the toolbar choose "Setup -> Section Tab -> Create a new section -> Starting with this page"
    Now, you have a single-page-section on page N.
    Put you object on page N
    Select the object (image)
    On the menu, choose "Arrange -> Section Masters -> Move Object to Page"
    Also, I recommend to enable by "Arrange -> Section Masters -> make Master Objects Selectable"
    You can put any number of objects on page N by repeating on steps 5 to 8.
    The problem is, however, if you continue to edit your document and and sections gets longer, it will start a new page at the end of that section. Which is awful, because you'll have to remove the sections, and start from scratch, or manually move the text from one section to the other. So, do this after you are done with the document. Pity!
    If anyone have a better solution it will be appreciated.
    -- o --
    Now, I will continue to nag, if you allow me. When I open an old Pages document with images in the background, it opens just fine. It is not selectable as the original author stated. This indicate that Pages still support background objects independent of the sections, it just doesn't offer in interface to that facility. Why?
    I had a fairly large number of letters and templates I created with Pages. Before it is too late, I'll abandon it.
    I have a similar experience with iWeb. Apple promoted it, and then abandon it. Now all of my class pages (http://web.boun.edu.tr/akdogan) look too 2000s style, but I don't have energy to convert them something else at this point, but I'll have to.
    So I will continue to use LaTeX for long documents (that has been the choice for a long time), but I'll switch back to almost equally annoying Word for short and medium documents.
    Again, pity! I used to like Pages.

  • Background Images Do Not Display

    Hi --
    On this page:
    http://www.thelegatogroup.com/test/
    I have the DIVs #left and
    #right and each has a background image. My problem is that
    neither display
    either in preview or when live. I can, however, see the
    images in DW's
    design view.
    The DIV #left should display this image:
    http://thelegatogroup.com/test/assets/backgrounds/home_piton.jpg;
    The DIV #right should display this image:
    http://thelegatogroup.com/test/assets/page_elements/divider.jpg
    The CSS appears correct and the rules point to the correct
    files, the images
    are on the server, the page validates, and yet no images.
    Can someone take a look and help me see what I'm missing?
    Thanks,

  • Background image on iweb site not showing

    I created a web site using iWeb sometime ago. I used all of the templates provided with the app. Since "me" has come along, all the content on my page displays, BUT the background image on ALL of the pages no longer shows. I republished the site to see if that would fix the problem, but no dice... Does anyone have any suggestions?

    I am searching the boards here, because I am having the same problem. My husband's site had dropped the background image from just one of the pages. I re-built that page for him, and it was fine. Now I'm having the same problem with mine. Again I rebuilt the initial page with the error, but now multiple pages say they're missing the background jpg file. What's up with this? And how do we get it back without having to re-build each darn page???
    I have made no changes to my computer. No new updates. Just one day it was there, and the next day it was gone. I am frequently accessing my website to make updates (at least weekly), so is this just some weird glitchy thing?
    Thanks!

  • Background images look rough

    I looked around but didn't find a post on this or, missed it,
    if it's posted. My situation is this. When I open my site in every
    other browser (ie., firefox, opera, safari, camino, and flock) the
    background image shows up correctly. When I open it in IE 7 it
    looks darker and rough. I tried placing it as jpeg and png. They
    both look the same. Everything else works fine, links, text. Any
    thoughts.
    Thanks...

    I see. Huh? 8)

  • Background images are not displayed (CSS, other images ok

    I tried clearing cache, looked at about:config for weird configurations, did a private browser window and disabled all extensions. None of these had any effect.
    Test pages: Amazon.com and https://developer.mozilla.org/samples/cssref/background-image.html - both of these pages have background images loaded by CSS. For example, Amazon's logo at the top left is a background loaded from a CSS page. The image itself can be viewed raw:
    http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/gno/sprites/global-sprite-v1._V339353059_.png
    So can this image:
    https://developer.mozilla.org/samples/cssref/images/starsolid.gif
    But why, why why do these images display on their relevant webpage? I see Amazon, eBay, and many other websites without a full complement of images. Especially the ones used for menus and other important navigation buttons.
    Here is what I see on the Mozilla page mentioned above: I see the text, but no repeating star image. This works in other browsers and on other computers in Firefox.
    The page I am typing on right now has no blue background, the entry windows are not correct (like the search window is not a rounded gray box) and the search magnifying glass is missing. So this experience makes even simple pages impossible to use.
    Firefox 32, Vista

    You did make sure that there isn't a high contrast theme selected in Windows like I posted above?
