Missing Backup Quickpicks

I accidentally moved some files to the trash (but did not empty the trash). I realize I made a mistake when I went to Backup 3.0 to check on my updates & all the Quickpick options were missing.
Where do I move the files to so I can make this program work again?
Thank you for all your help!

Patti,
What files are in the trash?
This is the procedure for modifying/adding QuickPicks:Click on the plan that you already have setup or setup a new plan.
Select Backup>Plan>Edit Plan
While in the Plan (Back Up) window, you will see "Backup Items"
Below that top half of the window there will be a
Click on the and it will reveal a "Choose Items to Back Up>QuickPicks" window.
Choose and click "Done."Backup Help will also be another helpful asset.

    Hello,
Did you try to catalog the backuppieces ? The controlfile you restored might not be aware of the backup pieces stored at "/appli/oracle/BACKUP/RMAN/FULL/MYDB/".
Try to catalog the backup location or each backup piece separately.
    RMAN>catalog start with '/appli/oracle/BACKUP/RMAN/FULL/MYDB/';or
    RMAN>catalog backuppiece '<backuppiece-name-with-full-path>';Regards,

  • Missing backup information

Why is there some missing information when I try to restore a new iPhone from my most recent backup?

See "iTunes will back up the following information" in this article to learn what gets saved:

  • Bookmark file missing, backup files empty, can't import IE favorites

I noticed that my bookmarks had disappeared. I checked my profile and the bookmarks file is missing. The remaining profile information and files appear to be intact, including history. There are a number of bookmarkbackup (JSON) files but they contain no data. I have tried to import IE11 favorites directly, and via the export to HTML/import to FF method, but nothing happens. I think I have exhausted all suggested remedies except deleting and rebuilding the places.sqlite file. I found a log file under the profile Allusers that indicated there was a maintenanceservice-install on Nov. 26, which may have been when my bookmarks disappeared.
    I'm running Windows 7 and FF 25.0.1.
    Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I do have three previous versions of places.sqlite. Curiously, they were all 10MB and were created Nov. 26 at the exact same time. The files were modified Nov. 27, at 3:08 pm, 10:31 pm and 10:39 pm, the last two while I was at home in bed. I can't figure out why my PC would be making restore points so late in the evening, unless it is related to my automated backups which are scheduled to begin at 9 pm. Is there a Windows log file that may be able to tell me what happened Nov. 26/27?
Speaking of backups, the bookmark file is also missing from my external hard "backup" drive. I don't understand this because my backup profile is set so as to leave files on the external drive even if they have been deleted from the PC hard drive.
Are there any downsides to restoring one of the places.sqlite files?

  • Missing backup on iCloud

I had 2 iPhones linked to my iCloud back up. There was an old back up for one of them. In the past few days the record of that backup has disappeared. I need to know why

I'm having the same thing…. I had three devices all iPhones (4, 5, and a 5s).  The backup of the iPhone 5 is missing.  It's not a issue of storage as I had 100MB prior to being upgraded to 200GB.

  • What Happens If I Miss Backups?

Just wondering what happens if I miss the weekly backups. Does it matter? I have no need to keep hourly, daily, and only dock with my external drive ocassionally and let Time Machine rip. Since 10.5.2 I now get the nice tray icon reminding me. Does it matter if I leave it a couple of weeks?
If there's a comprehensive document I can read point me there!@

Of course my data is important, but as it's slowly changing files, mainly audio files, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't backup for 2 weeks, and if it's a critical milestone then I usually plug in my alternative USB drive and run a little automation script that captures only the changed files instead of tying up my machine for 2 hours while Time Machine runs!
TM is great piece of mind, but still a version 1 with many limitations. I use it cause it's easy.
    thanks for your suggstions...

  • ITunes & iOS 5 Upgrades-missing backups, missing contact info

Using Windows XP, upgraded iTunes to 10.5.0.142 couple of days ago, then iOS 5 yesterday. When I installed iOS 5, it didn't reload my apps AND was missing any contact data beyond 2 phone numbers.  In iTunes and on my pc \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup I only had 1 backup from yesterday (the day I upgraded) and it didn't inlcude my last iOS4 backup either.  I had sync'd multiple times last week as I was adding contacts. WHERE DID THEY GO?
Also missing contact phone numbers where I had more than 2 phone numbers.  Noticed in my Favorites that some were numbers and also tried other 'fixes' mentioned elsewhere like just editing one contact or importing SIM data -- none worked.  I have been using iDrive Lite so I can recover some, but ***?  Don't know what else is missing.
And, apps didn't restore at all.  Have to redownload all, but at least app data seems to have been preserved.  What's going on???

I have solved it by unchecking (momentaneously till apple fix it) the "Convert higher bit rate songs" option.
I know that it need more space but i don't have too much music synced so.. it isn't a problem for me..
I have this problem because i'm using the "manually manage music and videos", i'm not using the auto sync option because iTunes always try to copy my new apps to my mac even having that option unchecked...
Now we have iCloud... i don't know why apple still have not deleted this feature!
Anyway... i have solved it momentaneously.
    Apple.... come on!

  • How can i find missing backup on Time Machine (for Mac)?, How can i find missing backup on Time Machine (for Mac)?

I backed up my computer on August 8th 2010 with Time Machine. I'm absolutely certain I did. But some reason there's a gap. I have a backup of my computer from just before that date, and just after that date, but August 8th is missing.
Is there any way to recover my files from this date? What's happening? It can't have started automatically deleting files because I have backups from as far back as June 2010 (when I started using time machine).
    Thank you

    See:

  • Time Machine missing backups, grayed out dates

My Time Machine disk is showing blacked out dates for some of my folders and no backups of those folders and files for those dates...There are earlier and later backups for some of the folders, but missing interim dates even though other folders were backed up. This seems to have happened after the Lion upgrade. Note: It's not a disc capacity issue, as my backup disk is 2 tb.....

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To access to older backups through Time Machine, read > http://pondini.org/TM/B6.html When you get a new hard drive and install OS X in it, Time Machine creates a new backup instead of connecting it to the old backups you had, so you cannot access to those backups.

  • Windows 7 backup program missing - backup error 0x80070424

    hi guys
pc is win 7 pro with 80gb left on HD
real tough one here which i can't find an answer for or the answers i've found do not work. in the control panel - backup and restore - there is nothing but a blank page (it was working two weeks ago). i do not have an option to backup. the message i get
    is
"the backup application could not start due to an internal error. the specified service does not exist as an installed serveice (0x80070424)"
i have tried some fixes but none work. the reg file
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\wbengine
exists and as far as i can figure out is correct. i have also replaced it with a new reg entry which i downloaded as a fix for the 0x80070424 problem. windows backup service file is not listed in services. also i have updaterd windows in the last two
days which i think accounts for why i only have two restore points - none of which are any good (why would an update delete restore points especailly when i have 80gb ledft on HD?). no i do not have system mechanic installed which has been causing this problem.
i am using windows 7 manager which does have a "1 click cleaner" option which i ran two days ago (did this cause the problem?). i have also ran the win 7 dvd in repair mode with no success.
i do not want to do a full install or even a 'in place upgrade' if i can help it.
anybody any ideas? if not will it 'damage' my machine if i do not run windows backups? i am backing up all my own files but i do this manually
any help would be really appreciated.
    thanks in advance

well i've answered my own question.
so i have a program called windows 7 manager by yamicsoft. there is a function in this program called 'repair all system components'. i thought i'd run it on the slight off chance it would fix my problem and surprisingly it did. so if you have the problem
i did then try running the program above. first thing i did is then do a restore point. however i'm still puzzled why a windows update would delete all my previous restore points?
    hope this helps someone

  • Missing backup

I've been backing up my iPhone since they came out and am used to seeing several of my backups when I go into iTunes preferences and select iPhone synching. Apple tech support wanted to isolate my problems 'software/hardware' so they had me back up my iPhone then do a restore as a new user. I put the word 'test' at the end of the new user name. It turned out to be the hardware so Apple sent me a loaner iPhone and I installed the 'test' backup on the loaner iPhone. I got my original iPhone yesterday and discovered I only have the test backup in my list of backups.
Talking to a product specialist I was told that only 1 backup is ever recorded but my experience is seeing several backups at any one time. So, my question is twofold:
What happened to my previous backups?
Is it true that only one backup is recorded and everything else is deleted?
    Thanks,
    Jeffrey

This was my experience in the beginning. Apple has replaced my iPhone 5 times. I would go into the backup folder and there would be a list of backups from which I could choose (by date) the one with all my info and not some test with no personal information. I turned off automatic backups in iTunes preferences because I didn't want my good backup to be overwritten by some test configuration.
I purposely changed the loaner iPhone to a different name and it was a different iPhone so I should have had my original backup along with the loaner iPhone backup. Instead iTunes deleted my original backup and only saved the loaner iPhone's information.
I think that this was simply a glitch in the Matrix that is consistent with me getting so many defective iPhones. I was able to find my old backup information in Home folder:Application Support:MobileSync:Backup. There are 3 current plists and 400-500+ line items for each backup. I choose the date of the one I wanted and deleted the others. Amazingly it worked.
I'm marking your response at Solved. Thanks for the company line.

  • Missing Backup file

I created a backup file from the Backup application(not Time Machine). I erased my hard drive and restored Lion. When trying to restore from backup, Lion is not recognizing the file. I also cannot see the file through finder. I can see older backups on a different external hard drive. But I cannot see the newest backup.
    Please help.

Well I'm looking for help with Backup 3 - precisely the app you showed and are referring to.
How come it seems to have disappeared from the face of Apple?
I still use it to backup key files to an external drive.
But looking at what I am backing up tonight, it only seems able to add new files to the Backup from folders within my User folder and not from the bulk of items on my hard drive which are not contained within my user folder.
Does this make sense?  I was so surprised to be limited like that.
Weirdest of all is that from back in the .mac days when Backup also backed some of my stuff up into that early Apple cloud solution, my single scheduled backup DOES include files and folders from outside the confines of my User Folder.  And I'm afraid that if I somehow delete them from the list of files to be backed up, I will never be able to put them back.
I have not tried a "restore" of any of these files.  But I'm just tiptoeing around this and am disturbed to find so little support for the application on Apple's site.
    Do you know what's up?
    Steve

  • Missing backups/lack of space with Time Machine

    Hello,
I am having trouble with Time Machine since I updated to Mavericks.  Time Machine tells me that I have insufficient space on my external hardrive (1TB) even though in Time Machine it only has one full backup.  If I Get Info on the drive it says Capacity 999.72GB, Available 71.37GB and Used 928,35GB.
In Finder I used to be able to delete older backups if needed but generally Time Machine did what it was supposed to - it overwrote old backups.  I can no longer find the files to delete and TM only says I have one full backup.
How can I uncover these, what appear to be, hidden files? Something must be there as I have no space left!
The external hard drive is 2TBp partioned, I also seem to have lost all of the data from the non-TM partition, which is not great either.
Please let me know if you need any other information.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you use virtualization software, such as VMware, Parallels, or VirtualBox?
The virtualization software creates a large virtual-disk container that is constantly changing, so it has to be backed up every time Time Machine runs. That will quickly fill up any backup destination.
You should exclude the virtual-disk file(s) from your Time Machine backups. To do that, click the Options button in the Time Machine preference pane. Back up the files on the virtual disk from within the guest system, using a native backup application.
A compromise solution is to create a "snapshot" of the virtual machine in the virtualization software (not a Time Machine snapshot.) That will give you a single large file that never changes and only has to be backed up once. All the subsequent changes will be stored in a new file that's initially much smaller, but will grow over time. You should still exclude that file from TM backup. If you ever need to restore the VM from Time Machine, you'll have a working setup, which will make it easy for you to restore the rest of the data from within the guest system.
Another common cause of large TM snapshots is native OS X disk images. If you store a lot of data on one or more writable disk images, they should be in "sparsebundle" format, which will be backed up much more efficiently than any other format. Also be aware that disk image files are not backed up at all while the image is mounted. Make sure you unmount the image often so it can be backed up. If you ever restore, you will, of course, lose all changes made since the last backup. Consider eliminating large read/write disk images from your workflow, if possible.

  • Missing Backups -- They are there, but Time Machine won't see them

I have backups going back to March 2008 on an external USB drive. Recently, there was an error message in my time machine status bar that a backup had been interrupted. After that, TIme Machine stopped backing up. I repaired my time machine backup disk using disk utility (and it found and repaired an error that there were an "Incorrect number of Access Control Lists"). I then reselected my external drive as my backup disk. Time machine is again backing up correctly. Moreover, my time machine preferences show that my oldest backup is, in fact, from March 2008, and when I mount the sparsebundle from the USB drive, all my old backups appear. However, when I actually enter time machine, none of the older backups appear. In fact, none appear at all. Only "today" is visible. Any idea how I can make time machine recognize and view all of my old backups?

I have a similar problem, with a slight twist.
    Installed Time Machine January 2008.
The Apple store installed 10.5.6. November 2008.
Time Machine will only go back to the date of the 10.5.6 installation.
In console or terminal mode there are some directories and files are there on the backup HD. Although I have not found the original baseline backup yet from the console mode.
Apple support call in reported that a product specialist said the only thing to do was erase the backup HD and start over, that the 10.5.6 install had been a "new" install and the backups were no longer going to be accessible. One way to cut down on support calls is to to limit the support delivered.
Found several December 2008 references to changing permissions on "Mac address" based on ethernet card 16 byte file.
"Note the name of the file that begins with a period and has 12 characters in the name, such as ".001b6397c156" mentioned in the quote above"
This permission was r-------- to begin with. I did a chmod a+r and a+w.
A number of ways on the web to do that.
But this has not changed the behavior, but I have not rebooted yet.

  • Help! Missing backup files

    Hi,
I back-up my blackberry through desktop manager about once every two weeks. Yesterday, my phone crashed and gave me an error message, forcing me to update my software and wiping the phone in the process. It did this once before as well. When I went to go restore my blackberry after the update, the last backup file I could find was from May.
I backed it up two days ago. I've backed it up a ton of times since last May. This doesn't make any sense. I've lost all my contacts, all my messages, everything that I gained in the last six months.
Does anyone know where the files could be, or why Desktop Manager might have messed up like this and not actually been making backups when it said it was? I restored with the May backup and tried backing it up, and of course now it works and the file is in the Blackberry Backups folder. I've searched for .bbb files on my computer and found nothing beyond what's in the folder.
There's no reason for me to have lost all this data, I back it up often specifically so this never happens, so where did all of those files go? Is there any way for me to get it all back?
    Thank you!!

Do a search also for any *.ipd files.
