Missing Dashboard

The HP dashboard for controlling my Officejet 8600 Pro e-All-In-One Printer n-911a disappeared from my Desktop. So I have no way to control my printer remotely. How do I recover it?
I went to HP's site I use one of the onsite tools to scan my laptop and it identifes missing software. I download it, re-load it and then it goes missing again!
The dashboard reappeared yesterday on the taskbar at the bottom of my screen, but not on the desktop.
Today, when I booted up, the dashboard was missing, again.
What's going on?
Help, please!

Helly GaryMats,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I understand that you're having an issue with the icon from your Officejet 8600 disappearing from the desktop. I will do my best to assist you with this.
To start I have some questions for you:
1) What is the operating system of your computer?
*Mac - OS X: Finding your OS version and build information.
*Windows - Which Windows operating system am I running?
2) Did you upgrade from a previous version of the operating system to a newer version?
3) If it's a Windows PC, when the icon disappears off the desktop is it still in Devices/Printers?
4) What type of firewall/anti virus security is on the computer?
5) If it's a Windows PC, do you have an automatic back up software programs? (example: Carbonite, Dellbackup, ect..)
6) If it's a Windows PC, have you run any clean up utilities on your computer? ( CCcleaner, PCdoctor, ect..)
Generally from my expirence, this tends to be caused by some of what I've asked about above. Something not working correctly on the computer, seeing the program as something that shouldn't be there.
I will look further into this for you though, and look forward to your reply.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
I worked on behalf of HP.

  • Missing dashboards v8.8 pl16

    Hi
I am using SAP B1 v8.8 sp00 pl16 and have found only one dashboard - Servicing.  I thought that there should have been three dashboards i.e. one for Sales Analysis and another for customer Aging Analysis.
Has only one been released or where can I find the other two?
    Thanks
    Ian

    Hi,
I believe the Integration Component needs to be installed; this will then have the dashboard component available in Setup. There is documentation available for I/C installation as well as setup/using dashboards, and the I/C ReadMe doc has links to some SAP Notes.

    Hi Christian,
Our set up consits of having 2 projects. One called Master and the other Support. We created documents in the master e.g Functional Designs, Technical Designs etc (typically a MS Word document) Once they are created in Master, we link the documents to th Support project.
Now, the issue is, when end-users approve documents the Support project (they don't have access to Master), th document disappears from the Support project. The link is somehow gone and we don't know why.
    I hope this helps!
    Thanks
    Joseph

  • Dashboard keeps quitting, please assist

Aloha all I have a problem with dashboard quitting, as soon as I open it I get the message "Dashboard Client unexpectly quit", no error codes, just quits. I tried reinstalling from Tiger install disk using Paficist, ran Disk-Warrior, all to no avail. When I boot from my backup disk it works fine. It's bugging me. I have removed preferences for dashboard, and dashboard client, and restarted but still crashes. I'm inclosing my crash report in case anyone can tell me what the heck to do to get it working again. Mahalo in advance for any, tips, suggestions, etc. JB

I am having this same problem. I really miss dashboard. Any help would be really appreciated. This topic is listed as solved... but I'm not seeing the solution.

  • Dashboard in Lion

I miss Dashboard's previous behaviour of displaying over a page, not on a separate screen. Any way to revert to past behaviour?

Yes.  Go to System Preferences > Misson Control > uncheck "show Dashboard as a space"

  • Missing Dashboad Item Menu

    Hi All,
    running OBIEE 11.1.1.3
all users (except weblogic user) are not able to see some menu items under the dashboard list (they see only the first item).
If the same users go throug Catalog Browser he is able to see and run the missing dashboards.
I'm sure it's not a permision issue beacause just restarting the presentation service everything works fine.
    Thasnk in advance.
    Bruno Condemi.

I have the same problem. I used to have rules but they no longer show up in the preferences panel. I had hoped that Leopard would fix it but it hasn't. Can someone post a screenshot of their preferences panel showing rules?

  • Panther or Tiger for a PowerBook G4?

I am installing a new HD in my "old" PowerBook-G4 and I am considering running it with Panther instead of Tiger. This is because while recently using Tiger and running CPU intensive activities (videos or in Safari), the computer would get very hot, the fans would run at high speed and ultimately the computer would go to sleep. I assume that Tiger demands more power from the CPU than Panther and that the PB should run cooler with Panther (is this correct or am I dead wrong?). Or is it possible that my failing HD was making my PB get hot? If this is a possibility, I would go to Tiger...
I only use this PB top check my email, surf through the internet, so Panther should suffice.
    Any thoughts?

The computer did not go to sleep because low battery... and I do not use animated emoticons either. The computer also went to sleep when watching videos in VLC or when downloading large files. I suspect that when Tiger was developed it was focused mostly towards more powerful Macs (G5). I probably could fix this one by getting more memory or having it go to a shop, but I do not want to invest more $$ in this oldie. I just got a new drive, which I installed myself and that will be it for a backup, kitchen unit... Panther is working beautifully, the only things I miss from Tiger:
    1) Ability to load all my bookmarks (from a file) to Safari or Firefox (I have to do this one by one, manually). Maybe I just forgot how to do this...
2)Version of Quicksilver for Panther is a little more primitive than the one I was using for Tiger. Quicksilver is great for searching and opening files at once, so I do not miss spotlight (I agree that Finder search in Panther is better). I also will not miss Dashboard and Widgets (they usually just got in the way and consumed CPU power.

  • Weird Pismo antics...

OK...here goes...got a Pismo which has been behaving badly for a couple months...nothing earth-shattering...but causing enough annoyance for me to consider retirement (something I REALLY don't want to do...since it's my primary traveling machine)...
I finally updated the firmware to 4.1.8f5 and things started getting flaky...when I reimaged the machine for OS9 (had been tiger only for a while) I had to disable ATI Accelerator and ATI Video Accelerator to get it to load OS9 completely...
DVD player no longer works...starts to load then freezes...
I have two processors (original 400Mhz G3 and 550Mhz G4)...several sticks of memory (a few 512MB and the original 64MB)...and a few hard drives (100GB, 60GB and original 10GB)...I've swapped parts around with no luck...
One thing I'd like to try would be to reapply the firmware patch (possible something went pear-shaped during the initial install of it???)...but it won't allow...is there a way to force the firmware update???
...any thoughts or ideas would be extremely helpful...thanks in advance...

That could be a clue... Since you were able to trouble-shoot by swapping out most of the parts except for the motherboard, that may be the problem. The ATI chips are there too.
I'm not entirely sure...everything works well under Panther (I gave up on Tiger because of all the niggling little faults like dealing with optical discs and having the machine huccup whenever I put in a CD or DVD...but oddly I do miss Dashboard and Safari 3)...
...the reason I'm doubting the Rage 128 is I just got done playing Diablo II without a hitch or any issues whatsoever...

  • After 11g upgrade - catalog objects not showing up

    Hi,
We have recently upgraded from 10g to 11g.
Our repository is working fine, but the presentation services does not contain our objects.
I hav granted all privs to BIadministrator role and I belong to the BIAdministrators Group.
But, all of our contents are missing, dashboards, subject areas, prompts, etc.
Any idea what step I am missing here?
    Thanks,
    Kathy

Is your installation client only .? Then its a known bug, you cannot open catalog in Offline Mode client-only installation. Catalog Manager is only available with OBIEE Server Full components install on Server.
Bug 14020946 : CATALOG MANAGER DOES NOT DISPLAY OFFLINE IN OPEN CATALOG
    Few questions here:
What is your authentication system ? Is it default ?
    Are all your the Subject area permission is set to Default in repository. If that Default is set to ‘NO ACCESS’ so may want to change default setting to ‘READ’.By default all users can see the subject area if we manually give him Read access in Subject Area Permission.However, if this is set to NO ACCESS in NQSConfig.ini then change this to READ under [SECURITY] DEFAULT_PRIVILEGES = READ;
Could you also generate Permissions Report in RPD and for a few subject areas and then see if the permissions are setup right in repository for that Roles ?
Hope this helps. Pls mark if it does.
    Thanks,
    SVS

  • Prompt Labels missing on the dashboard after upgrade to 11.1.1.6.9

    Hi,
    1. First try to compile invalid objects using adadmin.
    2. If the objects are still invalid, then compile them manually.
You can use the custom script from the following link
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/misc/RecompilingInvalidSchemaObjects.php
    3. If invalids still exists please post few objects here which are invalid.
    Thanks

  • Customer Dashboard Icon missing in Siebel

The Customer Dashboard Icon is missing for some users only, but other users are able to see. There is no difference in Responsibility. How to troubleshoot?

Do you have multiple Web Servers in your environment? You may want to check the PUBLIC folder on each to make sure everything is intact. Bouncing the World Wide Web Publishing service may also help.

  • Dashboard missing, OS X Mavericks 10.9.5

When I click on the dashboard, all of the widgets went missing and it doesn't let me add them back.
I tried to click the "+" sign on the bottom left but there is nothing on the page.
I also tried to search for the file "~/Library/Caches/com.apple.dashboard.client" as suggested but I can't seem to find it in my computer.
Thank you for helping in advance!

Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock those files and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Missing performance counters when creating custom dashboard?

I've run into an issue when trying to create custom dashboards with performance views.
For example I have 2 servers with the same OS 2008 R2 one does not show the problem the other does.
The issue is that when I go in to create a custom dashboard and add a performance view the only counters listed for the problem server are network adapters. If I go to performance view on the server in scom it shows all the counters. The only place the counters
are missing is in the selection area for the dashboard performance view widget.
Do the performance views pull counter data from a different place then the dashboard performance widgets?

  • Dashboard Bar missing

Someone help...... I am able to use the widgets as normal but when I use the plus in the corner to view them in the 'dashboard bar' mine is missing. There is no bar instead all of the widgets I have just double up and blur into one and when I click the arrows to change page they blend into themselves more and become more confusing. The grey background bar is not at all visable.

    rebel.souljah,
Create a new user account and test Dashboard in that account.
If Dashboard displays the same problem in the new account, download and install/reinstall the Mac OS X Update 10.4.7 Combo PPC.
If Dashboard works in the new account, follow the troubleshooting procedures listed in Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption, by Dr. Smoke.

  • Dashboard preferences file is missing. Causes my CPU to run at 100%

I have Mid 2009 MBP here. Since I've upgraded to mavericks my computer has been running extremely hot and my fan as been speeding at 6200 rpm all the time. I figured out that the dashboard is not responding and in the activity monitor it says it is using about 95% of my cpu. after researching this online people have deleted the preferences file for dashboard and it fixed the issue when they rebooted. I don't have a dashboard preferences file! I've looked and looked and looked but I can't find it. When the system reboots it is supposed to automatically regenerate any missing preferences files, mine apparently doesn't regenerate dashboards file. Please help!!!! I feel like my computer is going to melt! Here's a link to a screen shot of my activity monitor http://imgur.com/4VaxmB4

My PC runs at high rates too. And I too like to use iTunes at the same time I use Safari.
And there's no quick solution to this...at least not yet. But here are few tips and tricks that you can apply to get this thing half solved.
    1. First of all, if you don't intended to watch images while browsing, You can turn it off...Simply by going to 'Edit> Preferences> Apperance (Tab)' and from there deselect ' Display images when the page opens'
    2. Secondly, Don't open too much tabs if it's not needed.
    3. Thirdly, if you're using Safari for a few hours. Just try to close the whole window time to time. And after reopening get back to the last session (View) by selecting History> Reopen all windows from last session'
This will probably help you. Btw, these tricks are exclusives from me. Happy Surfing buddy!
