Missing tools in Oracle EL 5

I have installed oracle enterprise Linux 5 by downloading from edelivery.oracle.com .
After installation , i see that some tools are not exist. For example iostat, sar, mpstat, gcc, javac.
Why they are not installed or did i make something missing ?
Edited by: user479623 on 05-Dec-2008 09:44

there is absolutely no need to install everything. it costs extra diskspace, it takes extra time, and it will continue to take time during updates.
checking the list of needed packages before install, and checking of these are installed is enough.
it is very convenient to have yum on your linux servers, and have a yum server. if something is missing whilst the package list has been obeyed, a simple yum provides <missing file> will tell you which package you need.

  • Oracle 8 backup tools in Oracle 8i?

I already posted a thread about that, but I still have no answer...
Is it possible to use the backup tools of Oracle 8 in Oracle 8i? instead of using RMAN (which is not very nice to use).
I'd like to write a backup script with a visual tool, and if i have to use rman to execute it after, i don't mind.
But are there any visual tools, or can i use those of Oracle 8?
    Thx.

    Hi,
I have not any experience in RMAN. I think, u can use oracle utilities export and imports. It helps u to take backup as well as restore.
If u want to use in any projects, U can customise it.

  • Kindly suggest oracle automation testing tools supporting oracle 10g forms

    Hi,
We would like to automate oracle 10g forms in our company. kindly suggest oracle automation tools supporting oracle 10g forms other than OATS.
If only OATS tool is available in Oracle, please suggest user guide for OATS.
    Regards,
    Sairam

    Hi Sairam,
You can find OATS docs in OATS installation package itself. You can find separate pdf files for each OATS product(OpenScript Programmer Preference, OFT, OLT, OTM, Administrator etc).

  • How to find GUI SQL*Plus command tool in Oracle 8i (version 8.1.7)

I had installed Oracel 8i Enterprise Edition (version 8.1.7) on my server machine (Windows NT 4.0), I'd like to use Oracle Navigator (GUI SQL*PLUS command tool), but I can not find it from the menu. I know Oracle Navigator is available in Oracle 7. Can anyone tell me where and how to use GUI SQL*PLUS command tool in Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition (version 8.1.7) ?
    thanks a lot.

    Hi
Oracle Navigator is part of Personal Oracle7 and Oracle Lite. I don't know is it available in 8i Personal Edition but I am sure that it is not part of Standard and Enterprise Edition.

  • File Space required to Install BW3.5 Utilities/Tools in Oracle 10.2.0.3

    Hi Gurus,
We are going to Install SAP BW 3.5 Utilities/Tools in Oracle 10.2.0.3 in Linux Redhat Advanced Server 3(Update 8) .
    I have Couple of Questions.
1.Suggest me whether the OS and Database version are OK for SAP BW 3.5.
2.Suggest me the Space required in oracle Database in terms of GB.
    This is Urgent.

    Oracle 10.2.0.<b>3</b> is not supported!!!
    Note 871096 - Oracle Database 10g: Patch sets/patches for 10.2.0
    10.2.0.3 has NOT been released.
Oracle Release 10.2.0.3 has not been released for use in the SAP environment, and will not be released in future. This release is not supported by SAP. We recommend that you do not install this patch set. This patch set has not been tested intensively, and not all patches required to run your SAP system are available.
For a BW system it's difficult if not impossible to tell, how much space you need. It depends on much data you will load into the system, which kind of data this is etc.

  • Backup Tools in Oracle 8i

Are there other backup tools for Oracle 8i than Legato or RMAN?
And, are the backup tools of Oracle 8 available for Oracle 8i? Or are they usable with Oracle 8i?

Legato is not a great utility for backups...
And using RMAN without graphical environment is not really funny...
For Oracle 8 tools in Oracle 8i, I don't know...

  • Compare / Difference tool by Oracle or third party

Is there any tool or option available using which I can compare the data/table existing in my Oracle database (on-premise) to the data/tables in my Oracle Cloud DB instance. I have tried SQL Developer with the ‘Database Difference’ option, but it just let me compare my local Oracle DBs and doesn’t list the Cloud DB under the source/destination drop down list. I have also the same with the Red-Gate tool for Oracle but that too didn't result in success.

    Hi -
The issue with other tools (and SQL Developer) is that you can only access the Database Cloud through RESTful Web Services, not SQL*Net, so access has to be specifically implemented for these tools. We already did some of the work for SQL Developer, which is why you have some capabilities with Cloud Connections, but we are moving towards full (within the limits of security lockdowns) SQL Developer support. I can't speak for the other tools, but since SQL Developer is in the same development organization as the Database Cloud, I would think it would hit there first.
    Thanks for your interest.

  • Need a tool for oracle, like we have in sqlserver profiler....

We have a tool profiler in sqlserver,we need the tool which works like profiler...

You can enable tracing at multiple levels using the DBMS_MONITOR package. The following link shows how to enable session tracing: [Application Tracing Tools|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14211/sqltrace.htm#CHDFCGAE]
You can then use a tool like TKPROF or TRCSESS to aggregate the trace data into more readable files for analysis.

If you mean that the Details section is no longer visible, then right-click on one of the other section titles like Basic or Tone Curve, etc, and put a checkmark next to Details.
If you mean that the Details section title is visible but you can’t see the sliders, then just click on the little triangle next to Details to expand the Details section to see the various sliders for Sharpening and Noise Reduction.
If neither of these is what you’re taking about, then please show us a screenshot of the righthand panel in Develop.

  • Searching for a Reporting Tool for Oracle 11g

    Hello,
I have created several OLAP-Cubes with the Analytic Workspace 11.1.0.7.0B on the Oracle Database 11g. Now I need a Tool for Creating some Reporting. I have Oracle BI Spreadsheet Add-In Version 10.1.2.3 for Microsoft Excel. I have installed it and I have a Connection to the Database. But on the Query-Assistent, I can't see my Measures and Dimensions. I guess it is because of the Version.
    My Questions are:
    - Is there any BI Spreadsheet in Version 11?
    - Is there any other Reporting-Possibility with another Tool for Oracle 11g? I couldn't find anything yet.
I am very happy, if there is anyone who can answer my questions.

I have no knowledge of BI publisher but if you install OBIEE then you will have option to install BI publisher also. You can download OBIEE from here.
After installation you can look at following post to see the set up required to access olap cubes.

    OBIEE install/user documentation -> http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10415_01/doc/nav/portal_1.htm

  • Migration Tool for Oracle 8i

    Hi Friends !
I want to migrate Sql Server 7 database to Oracle 8i. For this I have downloaded Oracle Migration Workbench from OTN. Bt when I tried to install it I got message "The Oracle Migration Workbench 2.0.2.0.0 must be installed into an Oracle 9.0.1 Home"
I think the tool provided on OTN is for Oracle 9i. Where can I get the tool that will help me to migrate the databases to 8i ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Config Lab tool for Oracle CC&B Package

    Hi,
Is there any configlab tool for Oracle CC&B package for confifuration management accross different environments. we can use VSS as version management for java codes and cobol codes in CC&B. But i am unable to identify any config lab tool for configuration management.
Guys please help me out in this.
    Thanks and Regards
    sayantan

    Sayantan,
There is (unfortunately) no silver bullet for your requirement.
Here is a good blog article on the different options available.
    https://blogs.oracle.com/theshortenspot/entry/configlab_versus_bundling_vers
Implementations use variations and combinations of the 3 tools that are available, coupled with 3rd party migration tools (like vss). The strategy for an implementation's development-to-production life cycle will vary based on a multitude of factors. Skill set of the IT shop, what tools they are used to, internal audit procedures, etc.
Hope the article provides some food for thought!

  • MWB (tool mdb -- Oracle 8i)

A number of the industry standard PC-Based tools have mdb (Access) backends. (In our case, Database and Application Security Scanning Tools.) We would convert the results from these tools to Oracle 8i for enterprise-wide web-based access and reporting.
Do you have something like a TAR process? I have a sample mdb file, stripped down to a troublesome table (most of the migration works fairly well). How do I send this to you?
Also, I have some questions on updates/merging of new data from a mdb that has been previously migrated. I haven't attempted one yet, but didn't see much info in the docs. Any suggestions on schema or data updates being migrated (in a semi-continual series of migrations)?

  • Is Navicat Oracle database admin tool a Oracle product?

This lightweight database tool for Oracle bear a slight resemblance to SQL Developer.
    http://oracle.navicat.com
It's free of charge too so I suppose this is not a commercial software.

Well it requires a client install (and it wouldn't work with my Instant Client setup, complaining about NLS issues) rather than JDBC.
And it is a Windows (or Mac) program, rather than a Java program.
I don't think there's a lot of overlap with SQL Developer.
Its just another in a line of alternatives.

  • What was the first GUI development tool of Oracle?

    Hi,
I am an Oracle Developer and currently developing my own Website dedicated to Oracle, especially on the development tools. In my website I have a page dedicated to the history and development of the Oracle Developer tools, from SQL*FORMS 1,2,3,4 etc. to the Current Developer. What I want to know are the release dates of the first Windows based development tools by Oracle. I know that Forms 4 was the first Windows based GUI development tool Oracle released ( I think it was called Oracle CDE). But I don't know when it was released. Was it in 1993 or 1994? If you can tell me which month it would be even better and more accurate. I got to know through the Internet that Developer/2000 Version 1 was released in March/1995. Is this true? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & regards

    Hi,
the first version of CE was 7.1. Followed by 7.11 and 7.20. But you have to be carefull. There was a netweaver release 7.0 which already included parts of the components shipped with CE (e.g CAF and WebDynpro). But these are different releases, so it is not possible to do an easy upgrade from NW 7.0 to CE 7.1
    Best regards,Stefan
