Mission Control Background Blur?

After updating to Yosemite, I noticed that when going into mission control the background blurs for all my desktops that i can scroll through.  Is there a way to disable the blur effect?  I just prefer to see my backgrounds when in mission control like it was in Mountain Lion.

Thats how they designed the look on yosemite. I dont believe there is a way to alter that.
I also kind of liked to see my unaltered background..
But i guess its growing on me - getting used to it... Goes with the translucency theme...
Choice would be nice tho

  • Change mission control wallpaper ?

Hi, is there anyway to change the mission control wallpaper on mavericks ? I changed the wallpaper for the dashboard but can't find out how to do it for the mission control background .

Well there was no "Mission Control" in leopard. There was Spaces and there was Expose. Spaces let you have multiple desktops and clicking on it would let you see all of your desktops on one screen. Expose would show you all of the windows on your current desktop. There is no way to get either of those back unless you switch back to leopard or snow leopard. However, there is an option in system preferences that may help you. In the trackpad section (at least on laptops, there may be a similar option on desktops) under one of the gestures tabs, you can turn on app expose which will let you see all of the open windows for that specific application. So if you have 3 safari windows open it will show you those 3 safari windows, but it won't show you the other applications. Does this make sense?

  • How to remove google chrome in my mission control space

Thanks for your time.  anyone else having this problem?  the other day I was doing a keyboard shortcut and i accidentally activated mission control.
a new google chrome window opened full screen on my main monitor and my other two monitors went to the blank mission control background.
i was able to get out of it by hitting f9 and choosing my correct desktop.  but now EVERY time i click on the google chrome icon in my dock the same thing
happens, the stupid google chrome full page window comes up.  it's showing up at the top of mission control and i can't get an X to appear on it to delete.  if i create another desktop i can delete that one, but not the google chrome one.  it goes away if i quit chrome, but comes back when i reopen it.
i'm sure this is just a setting, but i can't for the life of me find out what it is.  thanks again.

Switch to Chrome. Now do one of the following:
Move the mouse pointer to the upper right corner of the screen. When the menu bar slides down, click on the blue double arrow icon.
Move the pointer to the top of the screen. When the menu bar slides down, click View > Exit Full Screen.
    Type Command-Control-F.

  • Desktop background disappears, Mission Control doesn't work correctly

Sometimes it happens that my desktop background completely dissappears, and Mission Control stops working as well.
It seems to happen when I open a new window in a fullscreen app (like Safari), and while it's opening I switch to another space.
Whenever this happens, my desktop changes to the Dashboard background, and Mission Control doesn't show the other spaces anymore (but you can see active windows in your main space). I've added pictures below.
I can still swipe between spaces, my dock still works and all apps still work in all spaces.
Any way to fix this without rebooting? To avoid this happening (apart from me being more patient)?
This is my desktop at the moment:
    And this is Mission Control:
I am using: Macbook Pro 5,4
    OS X 10.7.1
2,53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

I am experiencing the same thing as most of us, exactly as explained by - Acid_Raccoon.
UK-Max - This is not just a specific problem involving external screens. The dissappearing wallpaper, and loss of function of mission control (do not show spaces, but you can click in empty area where it should be located and it actually works as normal) occurs also when there is no
external screen input involved - You have to restart computer for it to return to normal. As a matter of fact, I am experiencing it right now for the 10th time in 1 week period, and it´s quite annoying. I would guess more than just a few people are experiencing this, and as postmechanical mentioned about having a brand new computer - this shouldn´t occur, and if so should get a fix immediately.
Over time, I have experiencing other system problems produced from installing OS lion. Sure it deliver a few smart, and smooth features, but since more and more bugs are discovered (and not fixed by apple), I am considering returning to snow leopard. For instance, sometimes when my computer goes into screensaver, it can shift to a picture of pixels (black&white) in 4:3 screen ration. This has never occurred before installing Lion. Another thing which is extremely annoying is that since installing lion, my computer refuses to go to sleep when I close my lid. Nothing happens, and it just stays on. I have to manually select in apple-menu to sleep.
I really hope Apple take these notes people have mentioned in this forum (and others) seriously, and fix them. I really hope Apple show more custumer service-spirits, than Apple´s lack of hardware-quality. (I have owned 4 apple computers(1 powerbook G4, 1 macbook & 2 macbook pro), brand new, and 3 of them have experienced hardware-failure on more than one occasion in less than a year. The one that didnt required service was my powerbook G4 titanium, released in 2001, and kept going for 4 years straight without any problems.) (Actually, the last one experienced 3 times in-a-row mother-card failure). I only go for Apple´s products due to its smart and clean features (and seriously PC is not an alternative if you want to stay mentally healthy), but what I´ve been reading on multiple forums over the web, more than a few, experience occuring hardware problems with their Apple computer.
I guess this is the result of Apple trying to push for higher revenues. If Apple keep go in the same directions as it has been doing in the last 4-5 years it will be its doom, and loose the customers that once caught the Apple-wave due to it´s innovative and personal aspect, but most important - it´s superiour quality it once had! Apple´s products is quite expensive, and thus should be combined with its smart and innovative system, along with lasting quality. But if $ revenue is the only thing that keep Apple going nowdays, and produce smart product that is meant to last for only 2-3 years maximum, it is deeply disturbing and the company will loose track of what stevie was initially producing - clean, smooth system (just works, no migraine), with everlasting quality far seen in PC-world. Apple - please consider !

  • Messages stuck in background of mission control

When I click the Full Screen button on Messages it becomes the background for Mission Control.  If I quit and restart Messages the issue is still there.  If I quit all my open applications, and then restart my computer the issue is still there.  The background on mission control stays updated; if I get a message it shows there.
Does anyone know what settings I would want to look at in order to make this stop happening.  I want to be able to switch to the space for Messages in Mission Control to see my messages but not to see Messages all the time.

    Hi,
    My Normal Settings are.
    Left  gives me Dashboard.
Right  is normally iTunes in Full Screen Mode.
I run Messages with 8 or 9 individual Buddy Lists open as well as the Chat/Interface Main window.
If I set  the main Messages window to Full Screen then it will do so but the Buddy lists remain on the "central" screen (Space?).
The Main window has moved to the right.
If  go to look at Messages and then use the Dock > Mission Control icon the Messages app is still on view.
    EDIT
Or it was when I tested this first and made me wonder if this was what you meant by "background"
I repeated this to take a snap shot  and can only get my Desktop as the Background whilst the Dashboard, Desktop space and Messages spaces show across the top.
During the initial process I did change some things in the Messages > Preferences > Accounts.
I had spotted two were not Logged in and I also changed the Descriptions for them.

  • Desktop background problems:  27" iMac/Mission Control

I've just installed a 27" iMac running 10.8 with 16 GB RAM.  I use 4 desktops at a time with different backgrounds in each.  When changing between e.g. desktops 2 and 3, via CTRL-right-arrow, Mission Control annoyingly flashes the desktop 1 background before replacing it with the desktop 3 background.
I have replicated the problem on the other 27" iMac's I have access to, and with a variety of desktop backgrounds (e.g. only the Apple provided ones)
and with various amounts of RAM (8 GB to 16GB).  It is a consistent problem on all 27" iMac's running 10.8 as far as I can see.
Mission Control handled multiple desktop backgrounds flawlessly under my previous set up (iMac 21"/10.7).
Does anyone know how to fix this behavior?

  • Blinking gray desktop background and no dock/launchpad/mission control

I just updated to Mountain Lion and my desktop background keeps changing from the picture to a gray screen. My dock also wont appear on the bottom of my screen and launch pad and mission control also do not work. I called Apple once and I reinstalled ML once already and its still doing it. Any suggestions?

    reboot, hold CMD+R .
you'll be in the recovery partition.
go to disk utility, and Verify and Repair your boot disk and its permissions.
exit out of Disk Utility and then go to the area that says reinstall Mountain Lion.
    Do so.
This will hopefully fix your issues.

  • Mission Control messing with Lion's default background

Strange and frustrating Mission Control behaviour in the attached picture. Lion's default background pops-up to block most of the desktops. This happens atleast with my external Acer display (with Apple's display port to dvi adapter) but it has sometimes occurred with the native display too. Then there is this another annoying feature when I shutdown my computer and the OS asks do I want to open up the same windows on the start-up. Lion surely opens up everything but every app window is on the same desktop so I have to re-arrange them. Changing Mission Control preferences does not help, the apps are cluttered on the same desktop on startup.

    Please read this: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Blocklisting/Blocked_Graphics_Drivers

  • After installing Lion os I cannot see my desktop 1 nor can I see my open windows when I go to finder, I just get the grey/black background that comes with mission control. Any ideas as to how to solve this problem?

The top picture is what my Desktop 1 looks like. And the picture below is what my desktop looks like after clicking mission control. Ive tried changing wallpapers, changing preferences, etc. and I still can't figure out what's wrong. As you can see, on mission control you can't see any of the open windows, or anything that I have placed on my desktop. Any ideas as to how to solve this issue?

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

  • Launchpad & Mission control Issues at Startup

I've just installed a clean copy of Lion on my Macbook Pro, and I'm having some very annoying exposé problems.
Disabling automatic login fixes this problem, but I would really like to keep it enabled.
If I go to activity monitor and kill the Dock process, everything works fine again, but obviously I don't want to do this every time I start my computer...
With launchpad, the background isn't blurred like it should be:
Mission control is much more troubling because it's completely invisible:

Phoned AppleCare tonight - the fix was to nuke the System Preferences preference file and reboot.
The good news - 'Zoom' now works with the keyboard shortcuts.
The bad news - the trackpad 'zoom' gesture from Snow Leopard doesn't work in Lion.

  • How can I fix Dock/Mission Control/Launchpad? (Glitch)

    General Description
Mission Control and Launchpad glitch when invoked (whether by using the mouse or trackpad gesture). They seems to crash or quit, and then relaunch themselves (/itself - all the same app?), I know this because:
    they both, as well as Dock, become unresponsive;
    the desktop background images disappear temporarily (being replaced by blank light or dark grey);
    the Mission Control animation stops/freezes and does not execute properly (the windows stay still);
Dock becomes unresponsive as well as Launchpad.
This happens a lot (every other invokation) and seems to be random; it's annoying and is ruining my workflow, since I am a heavy user of multiple desktops.
    Behaviour
I usually have over ten desktops, all with active apps open at one time; when it glitches I can't even open or switch applications, though I can use the ones that are on the current desktop (if was trying to use Mission Control).
There is no correlation with the glitch and the amount of applications open, or how much RAM or CPU is active (still happens with only a few light apps open and a few desktops).
It does not matter whether I am using more than one monitor, the glitch still occurs.
It does not happen due to a particular open application, as I have tested with nothing open at all straight after a restart.
    Possible and tested causes
An application might be corrupting the glitchy app(s), since the disk breaks after being repaired in Safe Boot mode. Once the disk has been repaired, the glitch doesn't seem to occur until a few applications have been opened, though I haven't tested this much. (I am suspecting TheBrain, but not sure. Other potential culprits: Chrome, Mail, Firefox, Spotify, Skype, Dictionary, Activity Monitor, Finder).
It isn't the operating system itself because I have reinstalled it from Safe Boot mode, and yet the glitch persists.
The application(s) affected by the glitch may be corrupted, and need reinstalled - that is, if they weren't already by reinstalling the operating system (they are in the '/System/CoreServices' folder).
    Not-so-possible:
I doubt it is a virus - it would be a pretty pointless glitch for one to cause.
I have Time Machine running most of the time, but I have no reason to believe that is the cause.
I am using a NEET mini display port to HDMI adapter for my second monitor (no idea how that could be causing the issue).
    Help
Any ideas on what I could do to fix this?
And does anyone know how to reinstall Mission Control, Dock and Launchpad (I think they are all part of '/System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app')? This might be worth a try.
    Specifications (just in case)
    2010 Macbook Pro
    2.8 GHz Intel i7
    8 GB memory
500 GB HD (two thirds full)
    Thanks for any help!

One thing I'd like for you to try: Create a new user account. Log into the new account and see if the same problems persist.
Many times such crashes are the result of corrupted preference or cache files. The above will eliminate these in the user account but not at the system level. So, I suggest you use a utility such as Lion Cache Cleaner 6.0.11 or Purity 1.10 to clear out cache files at the system level. I've never used the latter software but I, personally, use the former one on my computers.

  • Problems with scrolling and Mission Control

    I have this problem:
When scrolling down any page, the letters will blur at the top of the screen and not the bottom.
When swiping acrross pages in the launchpad, it occasionaly freezes half way between the two.
When I swipe up with four fingers to access mission control, the screen becomes very sluggish. Swiping back down (or clicking a tab) is even worse, causing slow "laggy" animations.

Recently installed Lion on MacBookPro. By first start up of laptop, Safari is opened bu is ' floating ' around between the desktops. You can see a full screen background image of Safari when switching back and forth between desktops in Mission Control.
It only works when i first close-stop Safari , then in Mission Control choose and empty desktop and then open Safari.
Anyway knows how to solve this?
    thnx.

  • Mission Control + Finder laggy since update

    Hello,
i bought a new Macbook Air 2014 i5 with 8GB Ram in May with Mavericks pre-installed. It was fast, snappy and responsive until i updated to Yosemite.
The first thing i noticed was that Mission Control was and still is not as smooth as before while many windows/apps are open. Especially soundcloud.com running in the background slowed it down.
Since yesterday Finder is not as fast as it used to be. Switching between folders takes longer than usual and the CPU Usage goes up a lot.
It's not unusable in any way, but compared to the superfast performance i'm used to it's very slow.
Fixes i already tried with no success:
    - SMC Reset
    - Deleting the com.apple.finder.plist
    - Repair Disc Tool
    - a lot of restarts
If i can't fix this problem the next thing i will do is a clean re-install of Yosemite, but i hope won't have to do that.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    Phil

I'm seeing the same thing with the same machine.
