Mobile me prevents me from seeing ipod

I just got a new MacBook pro and I tried connected my ipod shuffle (2nd gen) and if I try to click on it under devices, I am asked for my mobile me account, which I do not have nor can set up as it no longer exists. Certainly, apple does not require me to pay to be able to simply connect my ipod to my computer. Why can't I get it to work? I formerly had the ipod synced with my Dell laptop, no problems there. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks for your help!

I assume you mean iCloud.
Just enter the same details you used on youriPod into your phone (settings > iCloud).

If the program settings are set to hidden, it should be hidden. You do not need to specify any client settings. If you changed the program settings and the machines already had policy, you will have to wait up to your 60 minute policy setting or just manually
kick off a policy update to see the new hidden program.
If they are still getting the interactive install, then you need to troubleshoot if the machine has gotten proper policy. Run a 'Machine policy retrieval and evaluation cycle' manually, wait a few minutes and then test again.
Suppress program notifications are the tray icons and bubble notifications about installations happening. Hidden is the method in which the executable/msi will install.

The disc WAS injected when I first discovered that. It doesn't sto garageband (maybe other apps too) from reading & opening the files.

Can I prevent FCPx from seeing an external hard drive

I have a USB external harddrive that I use solely for backups that I want FCPx to 'ignore' as there are some old FCPx events and projects on it. I have to unplug before I launch FCPx as its slows things down big time! This then causes hastle as SuperDuper then throws the dumby out of the crib when its schedule is not kept!

There are a few names that lead FCP X to treat the drive as a camea. I am not sure if it has to be capitalized, but I'm guessing not. The FAT file system is not case-sensitive, nor is the Mac OS Extended file system (although it preserves the capitalization, it does treat names like 'VIDEO' and 'Video" and "video" as equal).
I did not know that the projects would still show up.
There is, of course, another workaround. This one will still have FCP X see the drive (so, for example, you can't eject it without quitting FCP X first), but neither the Events NOR Projects will be seen.
Quit FCP X if it is running.
Create new folders titled, e.g., "Final Cut Events (hidden)" and "Final Cut Projects (hidden)" at the root of the drive (right beside the regular "Final Cut Events" and "Final Cut Porjects").
Move the events and projects to these new folders, leaving the original folders empty.
Now FCP X will see the drive but there will be no events and no projects in it.
When you need them, you can just move them back to the original folders. (again, when FCP X is NOT runnimg) - it doesn't have to be all or nothing, just move what you need.
The $5 application Event Manager from Digital Rebellion can do this trick of enabling and disabling of projects and events somewhat more elegantly, by merely checking and unchecking boxes. But behind the scenes it is merely automating the manual procedure described above.

I've created the form but everytime I test it my email opens up and shows who the form would be mailing to. I do not want users to be able to see my email address. Is there anyway to encrypt it or black it out, etc?

Alright, I have created my php form and everything works like I would like except for the information in the email. When I tested it I recieved an email with the body of my form but none of the information that was typed in. What do I need to do?

Don't! The problem is not the iPod is the computer... but no need to smash it
Windows XP crashing means it's probably an USB driver problem. Can you use other USB devices? You may have to re-install the driver.
Another thing to check, does iTunes work? Do you see, in Task Manager, a bunch of processes installed along side iTunes: AppleMobileDeviceService, iPodService, iTunesHelper, mDNSResponder?
You have some diagnosing to do.

Bonjour preventing me from seeing Apple TV in iTunes...

I recently upgraded to the latest version of iTunes, 9.1 for Windows XP. Everything was working great but since that download, I can no longer see Apple TV within iTunes. When I go to preferences in iTunes and then Apple TV, it says that "Bonjour has been disabled and is required to connect Apple TV. Please re-enable to use this service". The problem is that I have no idea how it got disabled to begin with. I went into the control panel and uninstalled Bonjour and then reinstalled it from the Apple site but no luck. When I go into My Computer and go to Bonjour Service Properties, it shows that it's set to automatic but that it's Stopped. When I hit "Start", I get a message saying "Windows couldn't start Bonjour on Local Computer. For more information review the Systems Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft product, contact the service vendor and refer to service specific error code 10014".

I finally figured this out. I initially thought it was due to the latest version of iTunes (9.1) but it was actually the 2.0 version of Bonjour causing he problems. Once I uninstalled Bonjour and then re-installed an older 1.0 version, all was well again.

Is there some hideous ghoul (name Microsoft) creaping around in the background preventing me from seeing product pictures on Amazon, Ebay, et al?

Sometimes when I attempt to access products on Amazon, Ebay, etc., I get a blank square with a picture of a camera obviously indicating the website cannot show the picture. However, when I then close Firefox and enter these websites using Internet Explorer I have no problem with images. I know this is probably some dirty little Microsoft trick, but is there a fix?

As you can see below, when I right click, I have no such option. In the User Account Settings, I'm operating as the "System Administrator".
Any other suggestions?

Mobile Me preventing restore from backup on replacement iPhone4

Hi all, today I got a replacement iPhone4 because the home key had stopped working. I'm trying to set it up using my last backup but it stops half way, and MobileMe is up on the phone screen saying "Cannot find [email protected]". If I then look at the phone, some of the data has been restored (text messages, contacts etc) but some things like my wifi password have not been restored.
Anybody have any idea of what's going on? Is there some way I can restore everything except MobileMe and set that up later?

If you bought music, videos, etc. using the store on your iPod, iTunes will offer to sync your purchases back to your Mac the next time you sync. There's info about that here.
If your iPod was synced to another computer previously, and that's how your current music got on your iPod, I think you need to use non-Apple utility software to transfer the content off of your iPod. I don't think we're supposed to talk about those here because the official transfer method as far as Apple is concerned is iTunes. And with iTunes, music is supposed to go in one direction, from the Mac to the iPod, unless you bought it on the iPod. This is to prevent people from using iPods to copy music to everybody else's computer.

as62467 We appreciate your G3 question! Let's see how we can help. What you are able to adjust is the USB connection mode by going to the home screen and selecting'recent apps' (in the touch keys bar), settings,storage, the menu (the 3 tiny dots) and tap usb pc connection. If you do not want the software to try and install choose either the internet connection or camera option. Let us know if this helps.

It really can take very long to import and process so many images - I would not dare to make a prediction.
Can you open the Activity Viewer?
From Aperture's main menu bar: Window > Show Activity.
This window will tell you the filename of the image that is currently being processed.
if you are seeing, that the import is still far from being finished, you might to pause certain tasks directly from this panel, like the generation of previews or scanning for faces. I'd let the import run, if you see that it is making progress.
Have you enabled very time-consuming options, like the generation of high resolution previes or scanning for faces and places? if yes, and the import is not making any progress at all, I'd disable thes options in the Aperture preferences for the initial import. You can add these later for the projects where you want to use these features.

How can I move music from my iPod to my new computer if my computer can't SEE the music from the source?!?

I have read through lots of suggestions for moving my music from my iPod to my new computer...but can not seem to overcome a very difficult hurdle:
When I connect my very old iPod to my computer and click on the icon to open it, only 3 folders come up: Calendars, Contacts and Notes. I cannot "backup" anything useful here!
When I open iTunes, the program can see my iPod, and lists the complete library...but I cannot KEEP it in my computer! WHY?!?
When I go to iTunes > File > Library, I do not get a "backup" option to use to backup my iPod music, either.
HELP, please. I have spent hours fiddling around trying to figure out how to do this, and am getting crankier and crankier.

When I updated the software on my ipod 4 touch, many podcasts were erased. When I synced the ipod, they were erased from the ipod also. The current itunes does not allow me to go back to these dates (a few months) and re-download? Can I? and prevent this?

Hey! I had the same problem you did just today when I was trying to get my second iPhone to sync. What you need to do with music or anything extra that you doing you have to creat a second playlist or picture or anything that you would like to use, so that you can add to the second device that you are going to be using. I am not sure if that will help but it helped me out a lot!! Good luck!
