Modify selection data in an infopackage

Hi:
I have to add a field into the data selection to make an initial delta load. When try to check the new field by transaccion RSO2 in my source system they appear all de fields disabled.
Do I have to make this modification by other transaccin? Or do I have to delete the infopackage in order to modify the datasource?
Any clue will be great!

Is your Datasource is custom Data source or Standard..?
If its custom datasource then goto RSO2 change mode from there you shud be able to change the selections..
In order to make changes your user name shud be registered as Developer, other wise it wont allow you to change and you can only see display mode.

Generic Data Source and InfoPackage Data Selection

Hello, I'm trying to extract data from a generic data source (composed of a view joining 4 tables) using the Data Selection Criteria in an infopackage. Sometimes the selection criteria is ignored and more data is pulled than expected. The number of selectable items in the generic data source has been reduced (in case this was an issue) and for a short time the infopackaged pulled the expected number of records. Then another change was made to the generic data source and the problem returned. In any case, the transported generic data source does not work in the target system either. I'm not sure what is causing this to happen. Any ideas??? BW 3.5.

Hi,
Some of the datasources will not have default Infopackages for them.You can create the infopackages according to the requirement.There is no big deal for creating Infopackages.You can go ahead creating them.

How to edit data selection(Date) for an Init Delta Infopackage

Hi Experts,
We have a Process Chain which contains an Delta Infopackage.
This Delta Infopackage has a Data Selection (Date) condition which is till 12/2008. As well the same date selection is present in the init method as 12/2008.
Also we need to change the date selection in the data sources in R/3 side.
*Is there a way to edit the Init condition so that we can pull 2009 data without deleting the present Init and recreating a new Init?????? please suggest us with the procedure for the same.
Also could you tell us the impact of changing the date selection in BW and R/3 side??

I followed the steps you mentioned.
I created a new infopackage, gave the condition (01/2009 to 12/2999) and did a Init without Data transfer.
1. Now if we do a Delta load, will the loading be based on both Init Selections (01/2004 to 12/2008 and 01/2009 to 12/2999) or will it take the recent Init condition only(01/2009 to 12/2999)??
2. After doing the New Init(01/2009 to 12/2999), the Delta InfoPackage still shows the old Data Selection (01/2004 to 12/2008) In Selection Tab of IP, do we need to change the Date Selection as 01/2009 to 12/2999?
3. Where can we the Data selection in R/3 (TCODE)??

Data Selection is disabled in Infopackage

Hello Friends,
I am facing a small problem.
I want to pull data for an infosource 2LIS_05_UDN.
Now there are already infopackages existing for the infosource, but it is not allowing me to select date range, the data selection is disabled.
How do i go about it??

Hi,
are you trying to load the data through a package with option of delta load.
Then you cannot give the selection.
You can give selection only for full load and init packages and not delta packages.
also you can check in RSA3 in the source system if you have any selection options for that data source or not.

Can I modify the data type of a dynamic parameter?

I am using CR2008 against an Oracle 11 db and have a report with dynamic parameters.
One of the report sources is a custom view that selects all of the possible 'pay ending dates' where one of the fields from this view is used as the source for the dynamic parameter.
The view performs a TRUNC on the date field in an effort to eliminate the TIME component.
The problem is that the parameter definintion defaults to DATE/TIME (vs. just DATE). I'm wondering if there is any way to modify the data type of the parameter to be DATE only.
I've searched several forumns but have not found anything.
One solution I can think of is to have the custom view format the date field as a VARCHAR (sans the time component) which I assume would force the dynamic parameter data type to string, and then have the report perform a todate function on the value when applying the criteria.
Anyone else have an idea? Just seems like CR should allow the developer to specify the data type- especially b/w Date and Date/Time, rather than make an assumption.

Here's what you can do:
Leave the existing date column as it is in the view...
Just add another column to the view that casts the the date as a VarChar data type and formats the date as you would like it to be.
So now you'll have 2 date columns in the view... 1 that's still a date and another that a character string.
Now for your parameter, use the date version as the parameter value and the text version as the parameter description.
Be sure to set the "Prompt with description only" is set to true.
This way the user sees the LoV in the desired format but there's not need to wrangle it back into a date for data selection.

The main task is to move the contents of the one internal table to another with some condition.
First sort and delete the duplicate entries from the First Internal table like below :
sort it_tab by material ascending date_modified descending.
delete adjacent duplicates from it_tab.
Then move that Internal table contents to another internal table.
Define another internal table with the same structure as you have first internal table and then
Second Step :
it_itab1 = it_itab.
If you are using seperate Header line and Body then you can do like below :
       it_itab1[] = it_itab[].
This will fix the issue.

File Count with selected date range

Hi,
Our requirement is to get the file count with selected date by the user from two sharepoint date time controls i.e. dtp1 and dtp2 into the data table. I am able to get the file count of specific folder from Pages library through below code. Now need to get
the selected date range from two date time picker controls and check with the item created by is within the date range. If yes I need to get the file count.
So please share your ideas/thoughts to do the same.

Selection condition in the infopackage for initializing delta

How does the selection condition in the infopackage help in initializing delta?

Hi,
You can enter multiple single valus for any field in the infopackage. Just select the row for material type and then click on the insert duplicate button ( + sign ) which is at the bottom letf hand side in the 'Data Selection' tab within the infopackage. You will usually find this 'insert duplicate' icon next to the 'Check' push button.
You can insert as many rows as you want for material type by select the material type rown and clicking on this icon. You can then enter the three values in the three rows for material type.

How to display our own selected data in a search help using a exit

I had created a Search Help Exit to restrict the values to be displayed in the search help. This code was written under the event 'DISP' in the exit. But it is not giving the desired result. So I want to replace the RECORD_TAB of the exit with my own selected data. For this I had written code for selection under the event 'SELECT'. But when I try to overwrite RECORD_TAB with this, this create errors.
What should I do to overwrite the values of the RECORD_TAB field with my own values?

For Example:

Not able to select data using DB link.

Hi ,
I have created the database link in oracle 8.1.7.0.0 to oracle 8.1.7.4.0
But I am not able to select data using DB link.
The error is = ORA 12154 : TNS: could not resolve service name.
I have created the DB link with the same command in oracle 9.2.0.4.0 to oracle 8.1.7.4.0. I can select data using this link.
Please suggest me the solution.

If the service name is different on the 8i machine than on the 9i machine, you'll need to modify the service name when creating the link from 8i. Can you see the DB link in ALL_DB_LINKS in the 8i database?

Hi Wijey,
1.If you are talking about selective data load, you need to write a ABAP Program in the infopackage for the field for which you want to select. Otherway is to write a start routine in the transformations and delete all the records which you do not want. In the second method, you get all the data but delete unwanted data so that you process only the required data. Performancewise, you need to observe. If the selection logic is complicated and taks a lot of time, the second option is better.You try both and decide yourself as to which is better.
2. Only the fields that are marked as available for selection in the DS are available as selection in the data package. That is how the system is.

It would appear that you external table definition and the external data file data do not match up. Post a few input records so someone can duplicate the problem and determine the fix.
