Read, Modify and Apply Report XML using Java Script
Hi Guys,
Is there any way that we can Pragmatically Read, Modify and Apply Report XML using Java Script or some other way.
Thanks
Kaushik
Edited by: Kaushik K on Jun 20, 2012 8:36 PMRequirement ::
Users should be able to add Column to the Report Dynamically at Runtime.
(There are around 1000+ Users, Answers Approach is not acceptable)
So we are planning to provide a Multi Select / Shuttle Box Option for Users to add Columns dynamically. (Only for Table View)
What we planned to DO ::
Create a Presentation Variable Prompt, Which reads the Metadata Table (Presentation Table.Column Name, populated using the Metadata Dictionary)
And Create a report with One Column and the Column Fx like @{var_dynamic_columns}{'"Time"."Year","Time"."Month"'}
With this, OBIEE is rewriting the Logical SQL Currently as "Select "Time"."Year","Time"."Month" from "A - Sample Sales" "
But getting an error
The number of columns returned in retrieving column metadata was invalid (expected: 1; received: 2)
So we want to see, if we can rewrite the Advanced XML of the Report to have dynamic columns based on the Values from the Presentation Variable.
Please help me if this is a viable solution or any other better solution. -
What is difference between modify and update i am using
hi
what is difference between mofify and update
my requiremen is to have three condition checkec while mofifying or updating from a internal table
the three fields are
cus no
status
date these all are primary key in the database table
so which sould i use modify or update
there might be entry already existing in database table or new entry to be created if already existin it should check on the primary keys and updatat if not it should add a record
pls suggest whihc to use and how to implement the check on teh threee primary key
like if modify ztable from table it_test
now where condition ? can be used or not with modify? and if yes how
if not should i use update will update create a new entry if no entry is there and please give syntex
regards
AroraHi Nishant Arora,
Modify: It works in performing two actions.
They are: Insert + Update.
For Example If a record that is exited in database, so you are modifying that record, it updates that particular record.
Similarly, If the is not existed in the database, you are modifying it, it inserts a new record.
Update: Update means just it updates the status, I mean it only updates the record. It doesn't inserts any new record if that particular record is not present in the database.
These are the cases you need to write these statements.
Syntaxes: :

How to schedule macros to open a report , refresh and update database?
Hi,
We have the below set of steps that work on a deski environment. It works fine on XI R3.1 Fix pack 1.5, but I am unable to schedule and get the macros to run although i've included the entire macros code in - Private Sub DocumentAfterRefresh()
Refresh of report
Step 1 : Report is Refreshed. Refreshed data contains 10 Report Names to be opened by the Macros and the prompt values that these reports need to be refreshed with.
Macros Functionality:
Step 1 : Opens 1st report of the 10 reports from the repository in deski thick client, updates the database by setting a flag on the processing to Y or N for the report being processed.
Step 2 : Refreshes the report with the prompt values obtained from the first refresh in the report, saves the refreshed data to a CSV or PDF at a location.
Step 3 : Updates the database if the report has been genrated or not and then deletes the local copy of the output csv and pdf.
The above steps repeat over and over again until all 10 reports open up, get refreshed and update the database.
Now all of this works on Deski thick client/refresh and macros.
However, when i schedule it, the macros doesnot seem to be running.
Is the above scenario even possible to replicate via a schedule process..?
Note : The reports need to be retained in Deski itself.
PLz help...!Scheduling Background Jobs
Use
You can define and schedule background jobs in two ways from the Job Overview:
Directly from Transaction SM36. This is best for users already familiar with background job scheduling.
The Job Scheduling Wizard. This is best for users unfamiliar with SAP background job scheduling. To use the Job Wizard, start from Transaction SM36, and either select Goto ® Wizard version or simply use the Job Wizard button.
Procedure
Call Transaction SM36 or choose CCMS ® Jobs ® Definition .
Assign a job name. Decide on a name for the job you are defining and enter it in the Job Name field.
Set the jobs priority, or "Job Class":
High priority: Class A
Medium priority: Class B
Low priority: Class C
In the Target server field, indicate whether to use system load balancing.
For the system to use system load balancing to automatically select the most efficient application server to use at the moment, leave this field empty.
To use a particular application server to run the job, enter a specific target server.
If spool requests generated by this job are to be sent to someone as email, specify the email address. Choose the Spool list recipient button.
Define when the job is to start by choosing Start Condition and completing the appropriate selections. If the job is to repeat, or be periodic, check the box at the bottom of this screen.
Define the jobs steps by choosing Step, then specify the ABAP program, external command, or external program to be used for each step.
Save the fully defined job to submit it to the background processing system.
When you need to modify, reschedule, or otherwise manipulate a job after you've scheduled it the first time, you'll manage jobs from the Job Overview.
Note: Release the job so that it can run. No job, even those scheduled for immediate processing, can run without first being released.
For a simple job scheduling procedure, see the R/3 Getting Started Guide. -
Photoshop CS4 constantly crashing in Mavericks after reinstall and updates - No crash reports etc
After upgrading to Mavericks from snow leopard on my powerbook, my CS4 has extreme difficultly funtioning properly.
Sometimes it doesn't start up at all.
Sometimes it starts, but won't display any bars, and I either have to restart the program or wait until a file loads.
Sometimes it actually starts and displays bars like normal, but crashes very soon after I begin working on something, regardles of file size or number of windows open.
The software has been reinstalled and updated.
I get no crash reports, no java update prompts, no licensing errors.
Can someone please offer advice? My symptoms don't seem to match the problems other users are having with their software (that I can find).
As of right now, the software is completely unusable.I DLed and tried CS Cleaner Tool, but it didn't find anything to update.
I hope this is the correct log... I've never delved into crash reports before.

VROPs - Can you create a report to show when a VM was modified and what was changed?
I am having trouble trying to craft a report/view that can show me what I am looking for. I figured since this is capacity related vROPs may keep track. Is there a way to show when a VM was modified and what was modified? Looking mainly for vdisk, vCPU, or vRAM.
Thanks for the help or suggestions.Hi newbski1,
There are few things you can try to help with this.
1. The events view does show you resource changes, it isn't terribly detailed but it will help
2. Depending on your version you can also look at Configuration Manager which is part of the vRO suite that will show you configurations changes.
Cheers

MRU and manual updatable report on same page
ok. I understand that we can't have more than one MRU process on a page. Actually it seems 2 regions using the same MRU seems to work fine, but I had a problem adding a 3rd region with a new MRU. So I resorted to putting in my own updatable report. The code works well if I use an independent page but does not do anything as soon as I add it to the page with the MRU process.
The base query is like:
select '***' as select_plate,
htmldb_item.hidden(31,p.plate_id) plate_id,
p.plate_ID "Plate Id",
htmldb_item.text(37, PLATE_BARCODE, 30) plate_barcode,
PLATE_TYPE ,
htmldb_item.checkbox(23, p.plate_id) sel,
htmldb_item.checkbox(8, p.plate_id) child,
htmldb_item.select_list_from_query(33, modified_by, 'select first_name || '' '' || last_name uname, upper(username) username from eims_user') modified_by,
MODIFIED_ON ,
STATUS,
UPLOADED_ON,
decode(p.FILENAME, null, 'N', 'Y') loaded,
pr.run_id assay_run
from plate p, plate_run pr
where p.plate_type = 'zzz'
and p.plate_id = pr.plate_id (+)
the update process looks like
begin
:p2_message := 'ok0';
for i in 1..htmldb_application.g_f31.count
loop
:p2_message := 'ok1';
:p2_message := :p2_message || htmldb_application.g_f31(i);
--if htmldb_application.g_f31(i) is not null then
update plate set plate_barcode = htmldb_application.g_f37(i),
modified_by = htmldb_application.g_f33(i)
where plate_id = htmldb_application.g_f31(i);
--end if;
end loop;
I added the p2_message to kind of trace what is happening. ok0 gets outputed in the multi-region page and nothing happen for the aupdate; while on the test page with this report as the only regio, I get the expected behavior and the update goes in correctly!
Is it correct to assume that the g_fxx arrays global to a page? I used g_f3x just to make sure there is no conflict with the ones generated with the MRU process.
Any help/hint is appreciated
--NabilHi Alex,
You can use more than one region in the same page or even you can create multiple report in the same page. But remember you can not create as many region as you want, ofcourse there is limitation. Same theory applies to item.
Hope this helps.

Hi Expert
I am using Exchange 2007 SP3 with Rollup 11 and outlook 2007 SP3 with Windows 7
Our users is facing this error, i can see on the bottom of the appointment, it has attachment with the same appointment attached.
I googling some information, when a user modify an existing recurring appointment, it will auto attach the orginial appointment in the modified appointment, is it true?
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/2a5d2475-3c23-4326-a9cf-5f15a64147a8/when-one-occurrence-of-a-recurring-meeting-is-modified-the-update-wont-send-due-to-error-the?forum=outlook
i can use MFCMAIP to remove those attachment, but i cannot find any preventive solution for user daily operation for modifiy the recurring appointment
Could you guy help me on this and i would like to know, is it a behaviour of outlook 2007.
ThanksHas anyone found a fix for this? I have exactly the same problem and it's driving the users mental. If I use Windows XP and Office 2007 as the same user it's absolutely fine so guess it might be a Windows 7 setting. We are going to be
rolling out more Windows 7 PCs and hope this doesn't start doing it to everyone. -

This statement changes the content of one or several itab_line or itab_lines lines that can be specified using the table key or the table index.
System fields
sy-subrc Meaning
0 At least one line was changed.
4 No lines were changed, since no suitable line was found for the insertion using the table key, or the specified index was greater than the current number of lines for the insertion using the table index.
Note
Apart from using the MODIFY statement, the content of an individual table line can be changed using assignments to field symbols and dereferenced data references that point to the table line.
Exceptions
Non-Catchable Exceptions
Cause: Illegal dynamic specification of a line component
Runtime Error: ITAB_ILLEGAL_COMPONENT
Cause: Illegal key component in the TRANSPORTING list.
Runtime Error: ITAB_ILLEGAL_TRANSP_COMP
Syntax Diagram
APPEND
Syntax
APPEND line_spec TO itab [SORTED BY comp] [result].
Addition:
... SORTED BY comp
Effect
This statement appends one or more rows line_spec to an internal index table itab. If itab is a standard table, you can use SORTED BY to sort the table in a specified way. Use result when appending a single row as of release 6.10 to set a reference to the appended row in the form of a field symbol or a data reference.
For the individual table types, appending is done as follows:
To standard tables, rows are appended directly and without checking the content of the internal table.
To sorted tables, rows are appended only if they correspond to the sort sequence and do not create duplicate entries with unique table key. Otherwise, an untreatable exception is triggered.
To hashed tables, no rows can be appended.
The APPEND statement sets sy-tabix to the table index of the last appended row.
Addition
... SORTED BY comp
Effect
This addition is allowed only if you specify a workarea wa and if you use a standard table, where wa must be compatible to the row type of the table. You can specify component comp as shown in section Specifying Components, however, you can access only one single component and no attributes of classes using the object component selector.
The statement is executed in two steps:
Starting at the last row, the table is searched for a row, in which the value of component comp is greater than or equal to the value of component comp of wa. If such a row exists, the workarea wa is included after this row. If no such row exists, the workarea wa is included before the first row. The table index of all rows following the included rows increases by one.
If the number of rows before the statement is executed is greater than or equal to the number specified in the definition of the internal table in the INITIAL SIZE addition, the newly-created last row is deleted.
Note
When using only the statement APPEND with addition SORTED BY to fill an internal table, this rule results in an internal table that contains no more than the number of rows specified in its definition after INITIAL SIZE and that is sorted in descending order by component comp (ranking).
The SORT statement should usually be used instead of APPEND SORTED BY.
Example
Creating a ranking of the three flights of a connection showing the most free seats.
PARAMETERS: p_carrid TYPE sflight-carrid,
p_connid TYPE sflight-connid.
DATA: BEGIN OF seats,
fldate TYPE sflight-fldate,
seatsocc TYPE sflight-seatsocc,
seatsmax TYPE sflight-seatsmax,
seatsfree TYPE sflight-seatsocc,
END OF seats.
DATA seats_tab LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF seats
INITIAL SIZE 3.
SELECT fldate seatsocc seatsmax
FROM sflight
INTO seats
WHERE carrid = p_carrid AND
connid = p_connid.
seats-seatsfree = seats-seatsmax - seats-seatsocc.
APPEND seats TO seats_tab SORTED BY seatsfree.
ENDSELECT.
Exceptions
Non-Catchable Exceptions
Cause: Including a row with identical key (target table defined with UNIQUE)
Runtime Error: ITAB_DUPLICATE_KEY_IDX_OP
Cause: Violation of the sorting sequence due to an APPEND to a sorted table
Runtime Error: ITAB_ILLEGAL_SORT_ORDER:
Cause: Unallowed index value (<= 0) for a FROM, TO, or INDEX specification
Runtime Error: TABLE_INVALID_INDEX
Syntax Diagram
UPDATE dbtab
Syntax
UPDATE target source.
Effect:
The statement UPDATE changes the content of one or more lines of the database table specified in target. The entries in source determine which columns of which lines are changed, and how they are changed.
System fields
The statement UPDATE sets the values of the system fields sy-subrc and sy-dbcnt.
sy-subrc Meaning
0 At least one line has been changed.
4 At least one line was not able to be changed, either because no appropriate line was found, or because the change would generate a line that leads to double entries in the primary key or a unique secondary index in the database table.
The statement UPDATE sets sy-dbcnt to the number of changed lines.
Note
The changes are definitively copied to the database with the next database commit. Until that point, they can still be undone using a database rollback
The statement UPDATE sets a database lock up to the next database commit or rollback, which may lead to a deadlock if used incorrectly.
For the specific database, the number of rows that can be changed within a database LUW in the database table is restricted by the fact that a database system can only manage a certain amount of data in the rollback area and from locks. -
Repaired permissions once, got rid of the the previous iTunes errors. Cleared history and repaired again, still get:
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.
Any ideas?I have just started seeing this message and, almost simultaneously, have started to have problems with various different apps crashing for no real reason. Just a coincidence?
For interest, SketchUp crashed with the message
"Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x00000000f7f7fff9"
and QuarkXpress with the message
"Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000000"
Am I just punching at shadows or could these be linked?
Hope someone can put my mind at rest.

Visual Studio 2005/2008 and Crystal Reports versions/upgrade questions.
I've tried posting this question on the MSDN forums and gotten no response.
I've downloaded and installed VS 2008 Beta 2. The versions on the Crystal Reports files included are 10.5.0.1806
I'm currently using VS 2005, with the included Crystal Reports. The versions on those files are 10.2.0.xxxx. I've created an desktop app (in VB) which stores it's data in a database and uses the CR 10 runtime merge modules to generate a report.
I was considering upgrading the Crystal Reports version to XI. I would like to allow customers to modify my delivered report with their own licensed copy of CR XI. I am not providing any functionality within my app to create or modify the delivered .rpt or use it outside my application.
Questions:
Do I need to update the runtime files to CR XI to support rpt files modified with CR XI? Current runtime files are being delivered with the CR 10 merge module.
I see a Crystal Reports for Visual Studio upgrade to CR XI.
Can I update the merge modules to CR XI and still use the CR for VS2005 for development?
Does it make any sense to update CR for VS 2005? Or to get the full CR XI Developer edition? My usage of CR functionality is very limited.
Would there be any benefit to waiting for the release of VS 2008? How does that change the scenario?
How does Crystal Reports for Visual Studio fit in with the Crystal Reports Lifecycle? It's not mentioned on Business Objects End of Life Dates page . Crystal 10 has a Patch EOL of 31-Dec-07. Does this apply to CR for VS 2005? Where does 10.5 fit in?
My main concern is allowing customers with CR XI to change the format of my delivered .rpt to run with my app. Adding their company name, logo, etc. My testing show a CR XI report still works with my current app. But, going forward, what should I deliver and what do I need to use to continue development?To use Reports designed in XI, you need to use XI or higher runtime, running them in older versions may work, but you may encounter unforeseen issues doing so.
If you are to use VS2005 for development you need to use XI Release 2 (11.5) runtime.
If you are going to use VS2008 for development you need to use Crystal Reports 2008 with Service Pack 0.
The support end of life for versions of Crystal Reports bundled with Visual Studio are linked to what Microsoft's lifecycle for the product is. Generally if there is a workaround for the issue that is simple enough, there will not be a patch created.
The changes you are expecting the customer to do can be accomplished with our RAS SDK which is available without using enterprise starting with Crystal Reports XIR2 SP2. -
Modifying a Crystal Report from a 3rd party
We use a Enterprise software that has embedded crystal reports that you can run within the software. However, we need to modify a few of these reports, add some fields and such. Their reports folder has all of the .rpt files and I can open the files just fine. However, to add any fields I have to create a connection to our instance of their database to add the fields. The report will run fine in Crystal but once I try to run it through the enterprise software, the report dies out.
How do I modify the report using our instance of the database but then save the new .rpt in such a way where it will use the DB connection information in the software? Essentially I want a database agnostic .rpt file.
I tried searching through the forums but I didn't see anything along these lines, but I may have not been using the right terminology during search.Thanks for the info and the report and confirming they are OK with you doing this....
The report also uses a subreport against the tables directly. They both use an ODBC DSN using the MS SQL Server default SA account.
So you need to create your DSN using the same log on info, User name is "sa" but Cr does not keep the password so you need to find that out. Once you get the ODBC System DSN created on your PC then you can add the fields as required and run the report to verify it all works.
Next question you mentioned an Enterprise software to run the report. Is this Crystal Reports or BusinessObejcts Enterprise software or is that their program also? If it is ours then you can publish the report from Crystal Report Designer logging in as Administrator and then allow users to access it. Set the log on info for the report properties also and it all should work.
If it's not BOE or CRE then you'll again have to ask them how to get these updated reprots into their Enterprsie software.
Thank you

Using multiple LOV popups in a multi-row updatable report but save to 1 col
Hi,
I'm trying to generate a multirow updatable report, which has only 1 writeable column. There is a read-only column that indicates the type of value that the writeable column should contain (it's a varchar2). The second column will be a LOV popup.
I can create the report by setting the 2nd column to a LOV and it's fine, however I really want the LOV to be different, depending upon the value of the first column for the row.
For example, if the first column is "list" then I want the popup to show all my "lists"
If the first column is "role" then I want to the popup to show all my "roles".
There will be a mixture of values within the entire rowset.
I've so far managed to use a case statement to generate different LOV popups, which are displayed as required but the returned data isn't written back to the correct field.
If I use the same p_idx value then there is only one javascript function created and it always stores the data in the first rows column.
If I use unique p_idx values, then it works better but selecting a value for the 2nd row will store it there but also overwrite the 1st rows value as well.
My SQL for the report currently looks like this (cut down for clarity)
SELECT RULACTPRMIDD, /* PK */
CASE PRMNME /* type */
WHEN 'list' THEN
APEX_ITEM.POPUPKEY_FROM_QUERY(2,rulactprmval,
'SELECT LSTNME r, LSTNME d FROM LSTLST', 0)
WHEN 'role' THEN
APEX_ITEM.POPUPKEY_FROM_QUERY(2,rulactprmval,
'SELECT ROLNME r, ROLNME d FROM PDRROL', 0)
END dynamic_popup
FROM CPNRULACTPRM
I can't think of an example where i've seen this done within the Apex development environment otherwise I would refer you to that.
An alternative option would be to pass the type of value required to the same LOV and then get the LOV query to only show the appropriate values - i'll look into this as a workaround option.
thanksUser478832,
I didn't look thru all the code but I have a feeling your problem is the 9th line in the On Demand process. (the 9th line in this post anyway)...
htp.prn('<option value="' || rec.cpc_name|| '">' || rec.cpc_name|| '</option>');
You modified your query to get a different column but your returning the same column later: rec.cpc_name x2
I assume you want to display NAME and return ID so change it like this...
htp.prn('<option value="' || rec.cpc_id || '">' || rec.cpc_name|| '</option>');
Let me know if that helps...

Opening updated report fails because record selection filter is invalid
I am trying to update a report stored in BOE XI. The report has been modified and the main part of the report has been moved to a subreport. I first replace the .rpt file with the updated report. Then I attempt to open the report using the code below it, but it throws an error and complains about an unknown field being mentioned in the filter
oReportAppFactory = (IReportAppFactory) es.getService("", "RASReportService");
oReportClientDocument = oReportAppFactory.openDocument((IInfoObject) oReport, 0, Locale.ENGLISH);
ERROR MESSAGE: Cannot open report document. --- This field name is not known.

Error in formula <Record Selection>.

This field name is not known.

If I manually delete the record selection filter in CMC before upgrading the report all works fine. So, do I need to remove the filter before attempting to open the report or is there another step I'm missing to refresh the report using the newly updated .rpt file?
thanks,

The context is the same as the original post...
An existing report is being updated. The original report uses a single view and has a record selection filter. The updated report uses the same view in a subreport, and the main report has no record selection filter.
.rpt file is updated using IReport.replaceUnique(int, File).
Changes are committed to IInfoStore -> iStore.commit(IReport)
Refresh options are enabled
IReportRefreshOptions refreshOptions = oReport.getReportRefreshOptions();
refreshOptions.removeOption(IReportRefreshOptions.CeRefreshOption.TITLE);
refreshOptions.removeOption(IReportRefreshOptions.CeRefreshOption.DESCRIPTION);
refreshOptions.addOption(IReportRefreshOptions.CeRefreshOption.PROMPT_VALUES);
refreshOptions.addOption(IReportRefreshOptions.CeRefreshOption.RECORD_SELECTION_FORMULA);
refreshOptions.addOption(IReportRefreshOptions.CeRefreshOption.GROUP_SELECTION_FORMULA);
refreshOptions.addOption(IReportRefreshOptions.CeRefreshOption.PRINTER_OPTIONS);
refreshOptions.addOption(IReportRefreshOptions.CeRefreshOption.DEFAULT_LOGON_INFO_VALUES);
Properties are then refreshed using IReport.refreshProperties() which throws the UnsupportedOperationException
changes are again committed.

Please show me where to put my codes to edit(edit directly on table control fields) and update my table control(using the 'save' button)?Hi,
You have to put the following code in the PBO of screen 1000.This code would make the fields editable to make changes in the table control fields directly.
Here there are 3 transactions.For create and change transactions, the fields will be in editable mode and for display transaction,they will be non editable mode.
DESCRIBE TABLE tb_line LINES lin. " tb_line is the name of the internal table for the table control
tcl_item-lines = lin. '' lin hold the number of lines of the internal table
CASE sy-tcode.
WHEN 'ZCREATE09' OR 'ZCHANGE09'.

screen-input = 0.
MODIFY SCREEN.
ENDIF.
ENDLOOP.
ENDIF.
Once the fields are edited and the save button is pressed,the entered values have to be populated into the Z tables.The code has to written in the PAI of the screen 1000.Here the values from the work area of the internal table are moved into the Z Table. The code will be.
