Monitor 1920x1080 trouble

Hello everyone,
I'm having trouble  with getting my macbook pro mid 2012 (running latest Maverick) to display the 1920x1080 resolution on my external monitor. It only fills part of the screen and has a black border around it. Is there anyway to allow it to fill the whole screen? I have the Acer V243H 24" monitor with 1920x1080 display and DVI + VGA inputs. It's currently hooked up with a mini display port to VGA.
Hope I can solve this problem as it would be great to have it working on HD.
thank's guys!

It's currently hooked up with a mini display port to VGA.
Resolution for VGA is often severely limited.
To get higher, you probably need to connect via DVI.

Is the INTEL HD Graphics 3000 to blame?
I update the driver form the toshiba site, trying both version 8.15.10.2353, and .15.10.2509, same unsatisfactory result. There is no way to manually enlarge the display are with buttons, the automatic positioning does not change this situation. The same screen on an older desktop ran well when updating a driver.
When investigating a driver update from the INTEL site a warning appears stating that the manufacturers drive may e=have additional functionality, which should not be replaced.
This should just work, what is wrong?

    What settings did you choose?
    Extended desktop or clone displays?
I use extended desktop and I could set different resolution for internal display and external monitor.
The built in display supports an resolution of 1366x768 and scaling is set to Scale Full Screen.
The external monitor support the resolution of 1920x1080 and scaling is set to Maintain Display Scaling.
    Everything is OK

  • G505S doesn't full-screen my External Monitor (1920x1080)

    Hey Guys,
I've just bought a G505s IDEAPAD with the follwing spec's:
    AMD A8-4500M, 4 x 1,9 - 2,8 GHz, 4096 KB L2-Cache
    AMD Radeon  HD 7640G
    4GB DDR3
I'm running Windows 7 x64 on it, all the drivers are up to date from the original Lenovo driver page.
I have hooked up an external monitor via HDMI, a Dell U2414H, and it's running in 1920x1080 resolution. My problem: The picture is not stretched all the way to the corners, there is about a 2inch black bar on the corner all around the picture, the same as if you'd watch a 16:9 film on a 16:10 screen or so, just it's all around here.
What can I do, any help?
    Thanks a million!!

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing. It just wasn't worth the hassle. I got a good (standard size) monitor for about half the price of the old one, so I'm not too disappointed. Thanks for your help though

  • 24 inch iMac with a second monitor (1920x1080)

I just purchased an HP w2338h and have it hooked up to my 24 inch iMac as a second display. I am using a VGA cable with the apple adapter. The problem is, it won't support the native resolution (1920x1080). Every resolution below this works fine but I obviously don't want to use a lower resolution. I have the option to choose 1920x1080 but when I do, it leaves a two inch black gap on the left side of the screen and puts strange bands down the part that does show up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Monitor resolution troubles

After connecting a Samsung P2450 monitor to my MacBook, Late 2009 model, the maximum resolution the system will allow me to choose is 1024 x 768. The monitor is capable of full 1080p. I have searched everywhere to no avail. Help please! I am running OS X Lion. I am also running in extended mode.

    HI,
so I did buy a new video card, and guess what: still having issues.  I think the main problem now is: the "PCI simple communications controller" has a yellow triangle in the hardware list.
I have searched all HP forums and such, and found people with the same issue, but these posts are from 2007/2008 and all HP links leading to solutions are now void ('couldnt open page'). Grrr.  I have seen that most problemsolvers are asking for hardware id's, so here they are:
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2994&SUBSYS_2801103C&REV_02
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2994&SUBSYS_2801103C
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2994&CC_078000
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2994&CC_0780
If HP had not changed their websites, I might have already found a solution but right now I am kinda lost and wandering.
Any more help or suggestions will be really appreciated.

  • Monitor Color Trouble

The company I work at has a computer that is used for graphic design layout. One of the secretaries here switched a setting without knowing what or how she did it, and now the colors are too bright on certain areas of the monitor and too saturated on others. The computer has an admin account that was created after the change, but that account has no problem with the monitor. If anyone has any idea how I should fix this problem I'd appreciate it. The settings it is at are: 1152 x 870 @ 75 Hz.
    Thanks,
    Ted

I'm not clear on the specifics of the monitor you have but CRTs displays need to be degaussed if they are exposed to magnets (i.e. speakers, some key rings etc etc). There may well be an option in the monitors menu to perform this function. Other monitors perform this function everytime they turn on and so the problem would lie elsewhere.Happy New Year

  • Monitor having trouble coming on.

I have a G5 tower and I'm having problems with the monitor not coming on. What happens is when I'm away from the computer for long enough, it goes to sleep and in the past I would just click on the mouse to wake it up. So now the monitor isn't waking up. I've tried hitting the power on off and jolted it back to life. This usually works, although now it isn't. Can someone tell me what is going on and how I should deal with/fix it?

    Hi Kris,
Others with Power Mac G5 towers with this problem have found resetting the SMU will solve the problem. To reset the SMU on your Power Mac G5 see:

  • Program Monitor in trouble NEED HELP ASAP PLEASE!

I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 on a Macbook Pro. Recently I've been working on a project that has an insane amount of files in it (approx. 9,000). The only suggestion I can come up with is to make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date.

  • X61s running external monitor on native (1920x1200) resolution

    Hi,
I'm running a X61s with an NEC 2690WUXi monitor. Trouble is that I can't get the Thinkpad to output a 1920x1200 signal (even though I know it is capable). I select the 1920x1200 resolution, but it always outputs 1920x1080 (with panning up an down).
Have installed the inf file for the monitor and did the usual settings check. Also downloaded the latest drivers from the Lenovo website (although these are older than the version on the Intel site).
Anyone care to share ideas ?
    Thanks in advance, CraigS
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
I have Dell 24" monitor connected with 1920x1200, so hardware/driver is capable of doing so.
    I would try the following:
    1. Check in the video driver settings if the monitor is detected correctly and if the video mode is listed as supported.
    2. Check the same monitor with different cable.
    3. Try reinstalling the Video driver. Uninstall, Reboot, Install, Reboot.
    4. Inspect the socket pins both on the PC and on the monitor, possibly one of them is broken?
Hope the problem is in points 1-3.
    Wojciech
P.S. Once done, calibrate (manually) your monitor. The VGA by default will deliver image much worse than DVI would.

  • Aspect ratio for old full screen games, advice sought on buying new monitor

    Hi.
I'm thinking of buying a ThinkVision LT2252p to replace the old monitor my employer threw out because I've found the old one doesn't offer scaling of the aspect ratio meaning that my golden oldie full-screen-only PC games are all stretched out of shape to fit the entire monitor.
With the LT2252p, will a 1280 × 960 desktop (or a 1024 × 768 fullscreen game...) appear on the monitor with black bars at either side or with a black border all around? (I'm hoping that's what is meant by 'Same Aspect Ratio with input signal'.) Either way is good, just so long as a circle looks like a circle and not an oval.
If it's the case that I'm behind the times and the LT2252p is getting a bit long in the tooth, what would be a suitable alternative for a graphics card with VGA and DVI only?
    Thanks very much,
    Dave

    Hi,
I've been trying to get games to work on my new setup and have problems running games in fullscreen mode.
I can hear the sound of the game, but am unable to see it or, as far as I know, interact with it
Literally using Xmonad for the first time and I experienced some game issues with fullscreen. Specifically when running CS:GO I had a problem where the resolution was native to my monitor (1920x1080) it was running windowed and I couldn't find a way to resize it unless moving it to a blank workspace (so other windows don't infere with the mouse hook) and your then able to drag the window by xmonad commands:
    mod-button1
Set the window to floating mode and move by dragging
    mod-button2
Raise the window to the top of the stack
    mod-button3
Set the window to floating mode and resize by dragging

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe the linux native games on steam use the concept of '-windowed' by default.

  • Would these Viewsonic Monitors work with the Mac Mini?

    Hi,
I ordered the latest mac mini and I need to order a monitor...Due to my budget constrainsts I cannot order a Dell Ultrasharp, so I'm looking at a viewsonic...
.I want to do some webdesign on it, so I don't need a lot of color accuracy  ....But would this work with the Mac mini?
ViewSonic VX2363smhl-w 23-Inch SuperClear IPS LED Monitor  1920x1080
do I need to buy any type of cable?   the conectors it has are
    15-pin mini D-sub (VGA) / HDMI (x1) , HDMI/MHL (x1)

    Those monitor's will work fine.
One will connect to the Mac Mini's HDMI output port using the supplied HDMI cable.
For the other you will need either a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter or better yet a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/B/mini-displayport-to-vga-adapter?mco=M TA4OTEwNjA
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/HFQL2VC/A/moshi-mini-displayport-to-hdmi-adapt er-4k
Either will work for the second monitor, but personally I would go with the (Digital) HDMI adapter instead of the (Analog) VGA adapter.

  • W530 external monitors without dock? TripleHead2go?

It looks like the topic of external monitors has been discussed extensively using the minidock. However, I'm  curious as to what can be hooked up without the minidock; DisplayPort seems to have a lot of options in driving muliple monitors and using splitters.
It looks like the maximum supported resolution of the graphics card (Nvidia Quadro K1000M) is 3840 x 2160. Would I be able to use something like this to drive 4 monitors @ 1920x1080:
    http://www.amazon.com/Xtrempro-DPS14-4-Port-DisplayPort-splitter/dp/B00HIVUE7I
Right now I've got a matrox triplehead2go; this will support 3840 x 1024 (3 @ 1280 x 1024). I can sell it if something else will work better. The triplehead2go will only use a little less than half the available resolution, though it'll be over 3 monitors.

The TripleHead2go is an active device with a separate power connection from one of the USB ports. By default, it tries to drive my 2 OLD monitors at 85Hz which they cannot handle - I have to lower the refresh rate every time I change a setting.
It seems like in theory, a splitter could split the output into 4 monitors @ 1920 x 1080, though they might behave as a single monitor.
Ideally, I would want 4 independant monitors @ 1920x1080, driven off the mini displayport, that I could arrange how I wish. I have a feeling if I called Lenovo tech support, they would just try to sell me the lenovo splitter that supports 2 monitors and leave it at that.

  • Premiere pro Crash with AOC USB Monitor

I just purchased an AOC 1659FWU USB Monitor. The monitor works fine with AfterFX but when I try to launch Premiere Pro CC It crashes almost instantly. I know that it has something to do with the GPU and how it decides which one to use. I have uninstalled the monitor to trouble shoot it and once I did the program launched fine. Wondering if there are any workarounds or updates for this issue.

  • Monitor wakeup problems

On G5 w/10.5.5, my Viewsonic VG2021 monitor has trouble waking up after sleeping for the night. I have to turn the on/off switch on and off about 30 times, or for about 10 minutes, before it awakes fully. My desktop flashes on for a split second every other time I press the switch, but will only stay on for good after about 10 minutes of fiddling. My previous G5 here at work had OS Tiger, and the same monitor worked fine on that.
It is NOT the power supply, it is NOT the on/off switch, it is NOT the resolution setting in system prefs. I've ruled out all those things. I think it is software-related, but not positive.
Any help would be appreciated and gratefully acknowledged.

Sorry, I missed that you've checked its operation, since this problem arose, by hooking it up to the other G5 where it worked. I thought you said it worked on the Tiger equipped G5 and that the failure occurred on the Leopard equipped G5 after working originally. If that's the case, reinstall the 10.5.5 COMBO update, reinstall the ViewSonic software, is such is required, repair permissions, restart, hook up the monitor, and see if that fixes the issue

  • How to change the dimensions of a display (not resolution)?

I use a 27" iMac with a 27" Dell Monitor (1920x1080). Physically, the displays are nearly the same size, even though the resolutions are very different. This means that in 'Displays > Arrangement', the Dell monitor appears much smaller than the iMac monitor. So even though the displays are almost exactly the same height, I have to choose only a certain amount of the iMac screen that will allow my mouse pointer to move over to the Dell screen.
What I would like to do, if possible, is correct the 'size' of the Dell screen, and fix how my mouse can move between the 2 displays. Anyone know how I can do that? Thanks!
FYI: Monitor is connected via MiniDisplayPort to DVI adapter cable. Monitor is a Dell s2740L, and the iMac recognizes it as such.

Maybe there is a way; I don't know of one as the size of the display is made up of individual pixels, i.e. 1920x1080 means there are 1920 pixels horizontally and 1080 vertically. Unless you change the resolution, you can't change the display. Your 27" iMac most likely has a native resolution of 2560x1440, so there are a lot more pixels there (and they are much smaller in order to fit within the same physical space, so the image is crisper and better).
