Monitoring J2EE1.4-dr with JMX

Hi,
how do I monitor the J2EE1.4-dr server with JMX ?
Do I have to add a jmx-connector in the domain.xml ?
How does this entry have to look ?
This one seems to need a JSR160 JMX server.
I think that I'm more looking for a JSR77 enabled client.
Does the J2EE1.4-dr server support this ?
Is there a HTTP-client available for this ?
Best regards,
Ralf

For J2EE1.4-dr, mbeans are not exposed programatically through jmx. It is being considered for the next release.
You can, however, use CLI asadmin command to monitor the server.
Here is an example of how to use CLI asadmin:
step 1: list supported modules for monitoring
asadmin get server.monitoring-service.module-monitoring-levels.\*
step 2: enable specific modules
asadmin set server.monitoring-service.module-monitoring-levels.http_service=HIGH
step 3: list monitoring modules
asadmin list -m server\*
step 4: access the stats
asadmin get -m server.http-service.server.http-listener-1.\*

  • Monitoring MDM v2.1 with JMX or Weblogic ?

    Hi all,
I would like to monitor my MDM application that is in production now and I read that we can use JMX. My question is what is the difference between monitoring a MDM application with weblogic versus JMX ?
    Many thanks.

The demo you loaded is for Weblogic server, not for glassfish. You can't just deploy the demo and run it.
I'm not even sure it has been done jet, but may be someone has successfully done it.
Have you searched (google) for a solution?

  • Monitoring and Reporting with JMX?

We need a good way to monitor JMX objects. From A Network Operations type perspective. Goal being to work with our dev team to dial down values associated with escalations to fix production issues. Currently our plan is to upgrade to sitescope 8.6 (with JMX Support). This option will cost us alot of money. Enough that we are researching other options.
What is the best way to monitor JMX objects with alerts being sent? Are there any options outside sitescope that are reliable and scaleable? Is there a way for JMX events to write to the event log on a W2K3 server, or are there any custom connector services into MOM (microsoft Operations Manager <didn't think so...>) . Please let me know any recommendations you might have. right now our only way is cutom developer work or sitescope.....
    Thank You in advance.

  • Best practice to monitor 10gR3 OSB performance using JMX API?

    Hi guys,
I need some advice on the best practice to monitor 10gR3 OSB performance using JMX API.
Jus to show I have done my home work, I managed to get the JMX sample code from
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/jmx_monitoring/example.html#wp1109828
    working.
The following is the list of options I am think about:
    * Set up: I have a cluster of one 1 admin server with 2 managed servers, which managed server runs an instance of OSB
    * What I try to achieve:
    - use JMX API to collect OSB stats data periodically as in sample code above then save data as a record to a
         database table
    Options/ideas:
    1. Simplest approach: Run the modified version of JMX sample on the Admin Server to save stats data to database
regularly. I can't see problems with this one ...
    2. Use WLI to schedule the Task of collecting stats data regularly. May be overkill if option 1 above is good for production
    3. Deploy a simple web app on Admin Server, say a simple servlet that displays a simple page to start/stop and configure
data collection interval for the timer
What approach would you experts recommend?
BTW, the caveats os using JMX in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/jmx_monitoring/concepts.html#wp1095673
    says
Oracle strongly discourages using this API in a concurrent manner with more than one thread or process. This is because a reset performed in
one thread or process is not visible to another threads or processes. This caveat also applies to resets performed from the Monitoring Dashboard of
the Oracle Service Bus Console, as such resets are not visible to this API.
Under what scenario would I be breaking this rule? I am a little worried about its statement
discourages using this API in a concurrent manner with more than one thread or process
    Thanks in advance,
    Sam

    Hi Manoj,
Thanks for getting back. I am afraid configuring aggregation interval from Dashboard doesn't solve problem as I need to collect stats data of endpoint URI or in hourly or daily basis, then output to CSV files so line graphs can be drawn for chosen applications.
Just for those who may be interested. It's not possible to use SQL to query database tables to extract OSB stats for a specified time period, say 9am - 5pm. I raised a support case already and the response I got back is 'No'.
That means using JMX API will be the way to go :)
Has anyone actually done this kind of OSB stats report and care to give some pointers?
I am thinking of using 7 or 1 days as the aggregation interval set in Dashboard of OSB admin console then collects stats data using JMX(as described in previous link) hourly using WebLogic Server JMX Timer Service as described in
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/jmxinst/timer.html instead of Java's Timer class.
Not sure if this is the best practice.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Sam

  • My Viewsonic monitor won't work with the Imac using the Mini Port to DVI adapter.

My Viewsonic monitor won't work with the Imac using the Mini Port to DVI adapter. I also tried the HDMI to DVI adapter ane the Mac-Mini with same result. The monitor does work on my older Macbook Pro that has the DVI connector. Is it a Software/Driver issue ?

Should be extremely simple, please carefully read Connect multiple displays to your Mac. If you still have problems then it's probably a cable issue that would be resolved by replacing the adapter cable. You should be using this adapter. If you are using a third party adapter that might be your problem!

Presumably the mains cable, which you can get from an Apple Store.

HP Pavilion external monitor has stopped working with my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) with OSX 10.8.3.  When I purchased the monitor a few weeks ago it worked perfectly when computer was in clamshell mode or with lid open. Now external display has stopped working.  When I turn on display it scans for signal but does not find it and then immediately goes into sleep mode.  I am using a DVI connection with the adapter for the mini display plug.  REALLY FRUSTRATING. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

    Hi lancekatigbak,
If you're having issues with the display out on your MacBook Pro, you may want to take a look at the troubleshooting steps in the following article:

  • Is it possible to add a second monitor via mac mini with iMac

    Hi
is it possible to add a second monitor via mac mini with iMac
    or is there another solution?
all i want to know is if i can run a second monitor or link a mac mini for more speed like i heard you can with the G5 Towers.

The iMac will allow you to connect a second monitor but that monitor will show the same thing as the iMac's built-in screen.
You can network a Mac mini and iMac via Ethernet or Firewire.
Software load sharing like Xgrid can allow you to share work between the Macs.

Light alcohol cleaners, like what you use for camers lenses, works.  Just do not have the soft cloth cleaning pad dripping wet ... dripping wet will allow fluid to get onto internal components.

My early 2011 MBP laptop (OS Yosemite 10.2.2) recently started logging itself out.  I narrowed the problem to the external monitor which is connected with a Thunderbolt adapter. I installed Thunderbolt firmware update 1.2, that did not correct the problem. When I disconnect the external monitor, the problem went away. Is there something I can do to be able to use the external monitor again?

    Hi,
I assume you did create a keystore and trustore, right?
Could you verify that the paths to these files you give in your java options
    are correct?
You could also try to activate debug traces - in particular security traces - see
at the end of this blog:
    http://blogs.sun.com/jmxetc/entry/troubleshooting_connection_problems_in_jconsole
This may help you diagnose what is going wrong.
    Hope this helps,

  • Monitor Recommendations for Use with Captivate

Anyone have any monitor recommendations for use with Captivate? Size and resolution?

The formal adobe  recommendation is as posted 1024x768 is fine.
But, monitors are not that expensive, so for productivity and better work environment I recommend at least one wide screen 22" with resolution  1600X1200 or more  and that supports 1080 for video.
You need the  wide screen ( or  two monitors) so you can work with all the tools in one view.

  • Monitor an Apache service with Solution Monitoring

    Dear all,
We are using Solution Monitoring and the Service Level Reporting and now I'd like to monitor an Apache Service to see its uptime.
I tried to create a GRMG scenario for this, however I noticed that a GRMG scenario always requires a port number in the URL.
Does anybody of you know if it is possible:
         1) to monitor an Apache Service with Solution Monitoring (TA DSWP)
         2) to make it part of the Service Level reporting
         3) any other technology to make the uptime of an Apache Service part of the Service Level Reporting
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
    It is highly appreciated...
    Best regards,
    Roel

    Hello Joe,
If u do not want to import any Structure or BOR- Object, u can follow below steps :
    1. Create ur data model by adding the properties manually in SAP GW service builder with correct Edm    types.Doing this would be pain in my opinion ( sometimes we are forced to do this but no other option    doing this way )
       Create associations & navigation needed.
    2. U can generate run-time objects.
    3. Go to appropriate classes and implement methods with ur Business Logic.
    4. Register ur service & consume.
U can also import RFC to create data model and create mapping as per required by implementing correct method as well.
once u do this generate objects and register service and consume it.
Check this out for ur info :

  • Web service interfaces for monitoring Hosts and instances with SAPHostControl, saphostexec and sapstartsrv

    Hi All,
I need to develop a monitoring application for SAP system which will monitor both Host systems and instances.

I found below doc which explains "How to use the SAPControl Web Service Interfaces" exposed by "sapstartsrv" to execute instance specific tasks,
But it does not tells any methods/APIs/webservice interfaces specific to Host system or get OS data using "saposcol".
