More Titles for imovie 09

I was wondering if i could download even more imovie titles for imovie 09. I didn't know if there are plug ins I can download or something. Any information would help

Yes.
iMHD6 was a 'real', timeline based NLE. it lacked a few of iM09's features as greenboxing and pic-in-pic, but due to an API, you were allowed to teach iM new tricks by plug-ins.
have a look on this website: www.geethree.com
they still offer an awesome bunch of plugins for incredible effects, transitions and titles..
for stop-motion..
yepp, iMHD6 allowed a 'length' of clips down to 1 frame (iM09 is limited to 3frames), allthough I recommend designated tools as FrameByFrame or - bestofshow - iStopmotion (onion-skinning, stuff...).
if you like to make a bunch of drawings into a 'video', QuicktimePro offers a simple conversion of an Image Sequence to .mov..
have a look here, my 'Say Cheese Productions'-intro.. that is done with QTpro..:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7-BHrrF-EE&hd=1
iMHD6 was the little brother of FCE, which is the little sister of FCP..
iM09 is a from scratch new app.. just sharing the name, but totally diff. app and usage (a 'clean'n upload-tool, I like to say)

  • Where to Purchase more Trailers for iMovie?

We are having both my Daughter's and Son's weddings this year.  I would like to have another 'Romantic' trailer to use and iMovie has but one is there an app that has more trailers available to be used?

sad news - no additional themes, trailers, templates, effects, transitions, plug-ins avail for iMovie.

  • Does Quicktime Pro when installed offer more codec for iMovie Export

    Hi
I have a client that wants Master quality 1080p LOSSLESS no matter what size for their presentations done in iMovie. I use QuickTime.
I know they want a true lossless codec that can be used in other edition programs. I was thinking on getting QTP7
If installed, does it have a master archival for video output that can be access from an imovie project.
    Thank you
PS they also need to distribute to customer that use Premiere Adobe

QuickTime Pro does not give you more codecs, but Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro 9 will both give you more codecs. I don't use Adobe, so I don't know what they are wanting.
In iMovie, you can export in Apple Intermediate Codec or Apple Animation Codec. Both of these are full i-frame codecs.
If you have Final Cut Pro X or Logic Pro installed, you can also export from iMovie in ProRes 422, but the internal editing will not be in ProRes 422 so I am not sure that it would gain you anything.
If you had Final Cut Pro installed, you could import into FCP as ProRes 422, then import the ProRes clips into iMovie and edit it there, and then export as ProRes 422. But if you have FCPX installed, it is just as easy to edit it in FCPX.
It is possible that Apple's Compressor ($50) app would give you the ProRes codecs, but I have no way to test that.

  • More detailed maps for iMovie "11

    Hello Everyone,
Curious if there are additional maps available for the Map titles in iMovie. I am trying to have more detail of Hawaii for a project but the islands remain small on the globe maps. Are their plug-in's or ways to make the geography bigger? Thanks to all who might know.  - Carlyle

no, no additional maps nor plug-ins, help  to improve this tool:

consider creating your own 'maps', take screen-shots from google.maps into your Project etc.

  • Replacement for iMovie HD - or much simpler iMovie 11 interface

Replacement for iMovie HD - or much simpler iMovie 11 interface
I have just upgraded from a tape DV to a HDD HD camcorder.
This has meant leaving behind my cherished i-Movie HD programme and using i-Movie11 (also moved to lion). I just want to do simple cuts and pastes on HD content(720p), add a start and end title, and then add some chapter markers - exportto i-DVD. Nothing more complex, no sound imports, green screen, camera shake, fades etc... I have "heard it said" that you can make i-Movie 11 looklike the old i-Movie HD set-up? That is a simple linear edit bar with a largeview screen.
My question is how do you do this? I have tried to use i-Movie 11 and it isso confusing!
If not is there a programme out there will do similar to i-Movie HD? (Lookedat FCX, FC Express, Premier, etc and they are all way to complex for my simpleneeds.)
At the moment the best I have found is the old Quicktime 7 pro, which cutsstuff out but not much of the rest.
    Thanks!
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
.. I have "heard it said" that you can make i-Movie 11 looklike the old i-Movie HD set-up? That is a simple linear edit bar with a largeview screen.
Yes, you can activate a preference that shows the timeline as a single horizontal row, rather than the normal presentation which shows the timeline scrolling down the page (much like a word processing document). Click on the button containing 3 white squares - it's directly to the left of the comment and chapter marker buttons on the far right of the project window. See this pic:
You can adjust the size of the Viewer - go to the menu item Window>Viewer and select from Small, Medium and Large. You can also adjust the size of the Viewer by dragging down on an empty space on the centre tool bar.

  • What is the best kids camera for iMovie '08? Flip or, say, IXUS/Elph?

My kids love creating video clips and the old camera they use is beginning to fall apart and I'm trying to figure out what to replace it with.
USER BRIEF: The goal is simplicity and ease of use, so iMovie '08 fits the bill. Video and audio quality are of secondary importance. They do want to be able to crop their clips and string them together into a movie.
I was on the verge of buying a Pure Digital Flip camera but I've discovered a rash of threads in various forums describing problems importing Flip video files into iMovie 8. I don't really want to get my kids involved in a video conversion workflow if it can be avoided.
The other option is to buy a regular compact digital camera with a movie option. We have a Canon IXUS 70 (a SD1000 Digital Elph in the USA) that produced acceptable clips that iPhoto imports automatically. iMovie '08 trawls the iPhoto library for clips than can be used as fodder for iMovie projects. Pretty easy, I wonder if there are any drawbacks.
So, my questions are: is the Flip an attractive option in an iMovie '08 environment? Or should I give my kids a regular compact (and if so, are any of the major brands using codecs that are more or less iMovie-friendly than others)?

    Here are some known issues:
My MAC Updater downloaded the new QT 7.4.5 on 5 Apr 2008. I have been making movies in iMovie, and then posting them to YouTube. In the beginning I uploaded the movies as MOV files but soon discovered AVI files (larger file and longer time to upload) had more clarity when viewed on YouTube. Once the new QT 7.4.5 downloaded all my AVI files had picture, but no sound! I downloaded the Perian component as posted in QT discussions. The sound returned to the AVI files. However, when I Exported an AVI movie from iMovie the picture quality was worse than the MOV movie. There is something wrong with the new QT 7.4.5 when working with AVI, my AVI movies look terrible. These AVI files were all downloaded from my Ultra Flip Video camera with Flip’s codec 3vix. Flip is aware of this problem and acknowledged it last Friday. Flip says Apple is aware of the problem.
My MAC PowerPc G4 has performed well in the past two months when working with the Flip Video camera. So, at Flip Video’s suggestion I upgraded the operating system to OS 10.5 from OS 10.4.11. Flip Video says their camera works with OS 10.5. Once OS 10.5 was uploaded I soon discovered that iMovie 08 would not operate on my PowerPc G4, 1.86 MHz. The speed requirement for iMovie 08 is 1.9 GHz.
At this point of “spinning my wheels for nearly a month” with this Flip Video camera, I decided to purchase a new iMac. On May 2, 2008, I walked out of the Apple Store in Walnut Creek with the new iMac 20-inch: 2.66GHz. Now the Flip video camera should work and all my video problems solved. However, this was not to be.
When I attempted to Import Flip Video AVI and MOV files into iMovie 08 the files were “grayed out” and would not Import. None of my previous Flip Video files would Import. I tried making new Flip Video movies, they also would not Import into iMovie 08.
At another Apple Store, the tech suggested I download the previous version of iMovie HD. I did this and with hours of working through the different Export options I was able to create movies to post again on youTube. However, the picture quality of the newer iMovies has never approached the quality of my last post before QT 7.4.5 downloaded. Remember my problems started with QT 7.4.5. Well, my new iMac came with QT 7.4.1, I have not Uploaded QT 7.4.5 and won’t until Flip Video fixes this problem.
Examples of my Flip Video movies can be viewed on youTube at: sffoggydays. The last video with excellent picture quality was posted 6 Apr 2008 titled “A Day at the San Francisco Zoo, Chapter Nine, L-Taravel Ride to BART.” This video was made in iMovie and Exported before QT 7.4.5 downloaded. All the youTube Flip Videos made after 6 Apr 2008 have poor picture quality.
It is time for Flip Video camera to stop “passing the buck” to Apple. When manufactures of operating system such as Apple and Microsoft create newer and upgraded systems, it is the responsibility of the manufactures of applications to redo the programs for operating on the new systems. Here is where Flip Video is not accepting this responsibility to Mac users of their camera. The Flip Video application/codex/drivers need to be updated in order to fix the following problems:
    - No sound on AVI files in QT 7.4.5
    - No Import of AVI and MOV files in iMovie 08
    - Poor picture quality for youTube in Export of iMovie HD
I like my Flip Video camera, want to continue making movies for youTube, and recommending the camera to others. The Flip Video camera people need to fix these problems for Mac users.
I am still making Flip Video of my grandkids.

  • Clicking a title makes iMovie 6 freeze

I have iMovie 6.0.3 and am having troubles with it freezing. Awhile ago, I had problems with using Office, which turned out to be a font issue. I was able to fix it by clearing the font caches and removing duplicate fonts.
Now in iMovie, whenever I click on a title, I get my "bing" error sound and shortly after any other action is taken, the spinning beach ball of death, requiring me to force quit iMovie. If I don't click on a title (centered title, bouncing text, etc.) I am able to freely scroll around through the list, go to any other tab under the editing pane, but once I click on a title, it freezes. I'm not able to drag it into a location or click on "add" as it also causes it to freeze, and no preview window comes up in the viewer.
I'm assuming at this point it's another unresolved font issue. My font book tells me all my fonts are fine, no errors. There are no more duplicate fonts. So I'm left thinking there is some file iMovie is trying to read where it's attempting to locate the fonts that no longer exist -- or something along those lines. Well I cannot find such a file, and I've tried removing the preferences as well to no avail.
Is anyone able to shed some light on this? If nothing else explain to me how fonts work in conjunction with iMovie so I can try further trouble shooting?

Well, I managed to solve it. It was not a font issue.
What I did that fixed it was under iMovie, show package contents/PlugIns, I removed a plug in called title, opened iMovie, and it magically worked. Then I quit iMovie, replaced the plugin and restarted it. iMovie titles now work fine. If someone else has a problem like this, try removing other plug ins and then placing them back in the folder. I also removed the entire plugin folder at one point, which might have done something as well, I'm really not sure.
I can only think iMovie was trying to find the files for the titles in the wrong place. Why, I have no idea. But it works now. So yay!

  • I need more information about imovie

Hi, I have some problems with the imovie, sometimes I save a project and when I return it to open has changed and it is listened to very badly or one is slow, also there are times that I apply an effect and duplicated scenes appear to me that before they were not. It wanted to know as I can solve these problems. Another problem which I have with the imovie is that the projects occupy much space and I cannot save more than five projects because if I do not remain without space, I can solve this?, finally it would thank for much that you could say to me all the effects, transitions and titles that are available for the imovie. Thank you very much

    Hello, Dalanina,
    Welcome to the discussions.
If you are having problems with iMovie, these are some recommendations that might help:
First, you need space on the hard drive for iMovie to operate. You probably need at least 15GB, preferrably 20GB for adequate function.
Next, make sure that you have updated versions of your software: iMovie, QuickTime, iPhoto.
Try deleting the preference file for iMovie. Close iMovie. Go to yourusername->library->preferences->com.apple.imovie.plist. Drag this plist file to the trash. Open iMovie. iMovie makes a new preference file whenever one is trashed.
See if this helps with the problem of the effects/ duplicated scenes.
It is probably best to work on one or two projects at a time because of the space requirements.
There are other things to do to save your projects and save space:
If you have completely finished the movie and do not wish to do more editing, you can burn it to DVD. First, create a DVD project, and when you are ready to burn the DVD, save your project as a disk image. Then, you will be able to burn DVDs from that disk image. For single layer DVDs, the amount of space will be 4.7 GB or less. You can save the disk images for each of your movies and delete the original iMovie projects.
You could also export the finished iMovies back to your camcorder to save them on DV tape, and then delete them from your computer.
You can export an iMovie as a Quicktime movie and then import that into a new iMovie project and delete the old one. The QuickTime movie will be smaller than the original because it will have only the clips you have chosen to be in the movie.
iMovie uses nondestructive editing, so it saves an entire clip in its files even if you put in only a short part of it. For instance, if you have a 15 minute clip and you use only 30 seconds of it in your movie and delete the rest, iMovie still saves the entire 15 minutes. It makes the size of your movie quite large. When you export it as a QuickTime movie, only the 30 seconds you actually want will be saved in the movie.
Consider getting a large external hard drive for your movie projects...and be sure to format it for Macs.

  • Are there more transitions in imovie 11

are there more transitions in imovie 11

I like to speak of iM-a and iM-b, vers≤6 and iM08/09/11 .. iM-b is from ground new, internally using a complete diff. technique to create titles, effects, transitions ...-
and, yes, due to the new 'Trailers' and 'Themes' there are a few, handful of new transitions - but more doesn't automatically mean better. (compare to any Hollywood movie: cross-fades, fade to black and ...?)
iM11 is great, for 14€ (at AppStore) worth every penny!

  • Duplicate report title for every date where records are found in date range

    Hi,
I have a developed a report that lists multiple entries by date range with a page break separating each date. What I would like to include now is a report title which only appears once for each date, and separated by page break.
    Example:
    (Business Unit)
    (Address)
    (Report Title)
    (Date)
    Entry 1
    Entry 2
    Entry 3
    Entry 4
    Entry 5
    Entry 6
    Entry 7
    (Business Unit)
    (Address)
    (Report Title)
    (Date)Entry 1

    Hi Camelbak2113,
According to your description, it seems that you want to eliminate the duplicate report title for every date. If in this scenario, I suggest that we can try to add a group grouped on date range, and then add a child group grouped on report title. Then add
page breaks between each instance of date range group.
If I have something misunderstood, please provide us more information about the report. Such as provide us some screenshots about the report with sample data. So that we can make further analysis and help you out.

  • Can I use Motion 5 without Final Cut Pro but maybe for iMovie?

Hi guys, if I buy Motion 5 can I use it to create a project without Final Cut Pro or X or what ever?! And can I create transitions for iMovie?
    Thanks

Stelo08, yes, Motion will export in a handful of formats.
h264 is the most popular, but did not support transparency, which you would likely want if you wanted to do lower thirds (titles).
Motion will export in prores 444 which which supports transparency, but I do not know if it works in imovie.
(I tried it in Camtasia 2.3 and it did not there, but it seemed to work in ScreenFlow 4.03)
Additionally, you can import video footage into Motion, so worst case scenario, you could pull a shorter scene into motion, do your overlays, export that scene and then add it back into imovie.

  • Which MacBook Pro for imovie?

I've had my 13 inch MacBook for over 7 years and the old girl won't die, but has been running slow with all the gopro and other HD video footage I edit for a long time.
I only use my laptop for imovie video editing and storage of photos on iPhoto (no editing). My question is which which model should I buy? I'm happy with the 13 inch size, but also happy to go to 15 inch should the specs warrant it.  I'm also considering Final Cut Pro x in the future as I'm starting to look for more than imovie has to offer.
Any suggestions or up specs required?
    Thanks,
    Glen

    Hi Glen,
The obvious: 15" has conisderably more screen realestate to work with. It also has considerably more processing power than the 13" with a quad core i7 vs a dual core i5. Will the 13" work for now? Sure, but given that you keep your MBP for such a long time, the large speed difference is a huge factor to consider; it's useful life should be at least a year or two beyond the 13", and all the while you'll be enjoying the faster speed. You might also want to consider upgrading to 16GB of RAM. While that's a lot for now, in the future, as OSs and apps become more and more RAM hungry . . . . I think you can tell which one I'd recommend.
