Most apps STILL not compatible with 5.0?!

It seems that a large number of apps are not campatible with 5.0. [edit] Its been a few months now and these app makers STILL have not gotten off their arses to add the code or whatever to make apps work with 5.0. So we go and spend money on these apps only to find out afterwards that they dont work. I see that SOME of the venders are adding the "not compatible with 5.0" over at app world be they ALL need to be required to do that if they know its not going to work. Either that or do what it takes to make it work.

It takes a while to get apps updated. Most of these developers do the same apps for other devices and it just takes a while. It's not an excuse, but just a reason.

I find this disturbing. Apple is still selling the touch 4gen in stores. Yet most apps require the 4s or 5 th Gen . At least take the 4g off shelves. And you expect me to buy a new one every year. I believe you are confused. The fourth-generation iPod touch is capable of running the most current version of iOS, 6.1.3, and the vast majority of the apps available. And there no "iPod touch 4S". "4S" is an iPhone model designator.
If you are having a specific problem running apps on your iPod touch, post back with details and someone can probably help you. But your premise as given is false.

There are still some apps compatible, with the 2G. Also, since September, Apple has now allowed download the last version of apps that were compatible with the 2G but have been updated to no longer be compatibles

This app is not compatible with ipod touch?

I purchased app called equalizer about 2 month ago, and yesterday app was crashing at the start so i tried re-installing the app, but now the app is refusing to download since the last update made the app not compatible with ipod touch 2nd generation. Is there a way to make the app compatible again with my ipod or possible refund if not??? Where is support for app store in this site? I contacted audioforge lab and they told me to contact apple for a refund. someone help me I need this app to work again my car sound horrible without it!

One or more of the apps you are updating is seeing that you have not yet gone to ios5. All the iwork app changes, for example, will not upgrade until you do. What you can do is tick them individually. If that particular app will update, then it will. If it won't it will tell you, and you can go back and get them later after you do the ious 5 update. Last night i decided to update before i started the ios 5 upgrade, and there were 16 apps waiting for up date. All but 5 did update, but not the i works, and 2 others.
It takes a little longer to do them 1 at a time, but it is better than staring at the stupid 'not eligable' notice.

Itunes 9.0.3 64bit still not compatible with Windows 7.

Have downloaded 9.0.3 in the hope that it will have fixed the ongoing issue of my ipod classic (80gb) still not being recognised, I am still unale to sync due to my ipod classic not being recognised! It seems that the 64 bit version actually runs as a 32 bit program (checked in task manager) and I assume the 64 bit version is supposed to provide the correct drivers to allow compatibility with 7. This is not the case. I've been on the net for months now trying to find a solution and to date there's nothing out there that works. Is anyone else having this problem and does anyone know of any fixes? Also, any chance apple can update us on what long term solution is being worked on? Phew. One of the more disconcerting messages I've ever found when I've been checking people's drivers and downloads pages.
Okay, there's a new version of the BIOS showing up on your downloads page: version 1.25, dated 2010/01/11.
It's worth checking to see if that's your current BIOS version. One word of caution ... Acer is in the habit of threatening that the sky may fall on your head if you dare to upgrade a BIOS version. Direct quote from the relevant page:
"Flashing the wrong BIOS can cause harm to the system. Acer recommends that you should only upgrade your firmware/drivers if you have been instructed to do so by an Acer Customer Care representative. By using these firmware/drivers you agree to accept the possibility of product failure."
I'm not entirely sure how seriously to take that ... but it probably would be best to check with Acer support prior to attempting any BIOS upgrade.

Are some apps just not compatible with iTunes 10.5/iOS 5.0?

Seems some apps on my iPod, conflict with iTunes 10.5.
I started having the Store issue, which ALWAYS showed and worked, never had trouble accessing, never got a blank page... that started happening.
(I think live search when typing is a bad idea)
I had added back a few, by download and via iTunes, but next time I connected iPod, there was problem with iPod showing as a device, and with iTunes Store.
Removed the 4 apps I had added/reinstalled, and now back to normal.
Skype, RockMelt, iCab Mobile, Reeder, Transphotos
I don't know if it was the combination or if it was Skype or photo retouch/editing or one of the others.
I use to have 4.1GB "Other" also and that is now a more comfortable 1.1GB of space.
NY Times "newstand" would not work on 4.3.5, or would but could not by synched, could not be moved to another iPod screen. So basically broken and may have led to other problems. These apps that work with iOS 5 but are not backward compatible, or the reverse situation, they aren't really 5.0 compatible.
For me, I have to wait for Windows and iTunes to settle down, then connect iPod only. And when the iPod device would "vanish". Now where are the "dot one" patched bug-fix verfsions?
And for those still on 4.3.5 and earlier, where is the means to keep and not update to a new version believing it will be backward compatible (and maybe the specs said "iOS 4+" when it should say it reqquires "Newstand and iOS 5+".

Mounting a device in iTunes 10.5 with some incompatible apps will cause the device to unmount (disappear) from iTunes. Remove the offending app from the device before you next connect to iTunes and should now mount and stay mounted. Restart AMS if needed.
New app that I put on iPhone will cause this. iPhone no longer shows in iTunes: Devices.

When in iTunes Store and in Apps, search would by default look first and foremost in App Store section.

Some are iOS 5 only and not backward compatible.
Those should not be offered.
Some say that they are iOS 4.x and later but are no longer.
NYTimes now requires Newstand and 5.0 (I wrote and don't think they tested or were aware it wasn't backward or would not synch under iTunes 10.5). Was the prime reason I even upgraded to iOS 5, too! ouch. iTunes 10.5 as tested vs as it actually is - differed and has significant impact. So give developers more access & time to test and certify against 10.5 before offering iOS 5. Why the rush instead of have a smoother rollout? it gets old afterawhile and looks rushed.
For now, be careful. It is hard to know what is compatible, and what to avoid even now, or especially now with the updates from Friday 28th.
Uninstalling an app may be one way to "troubleshoot" but that also removes settings, and requires more work to authorize, customize, and setup again.
Where is chkdsk for iOS?
Last, does an app crashing or freezing corrupt the settings? the app itself? memory? leave behind "other" storage addresses that can't be used until fixed by remvoing and restoring not just app, but everything?

App updates not compatible with ios

I have the original Ipad, ios version 5.1.1. i got notified to update several apps and did. now they have been deleted because they wont work with my version of ios. Cant update ios any further than it is. it is the original ipad. so, can I get lower version of the app? i never would have updated the app if i knew it wouldnt work with my version of the ios. help

The App "pages" not compatible with Word Docs?

I have purchase the App Pages and seemed to be having lots of problems. I cannot open files without it being Read Only. My instructor sends me assignements through his PC and I cannot open it to copy it. I am transcribing his email to a Pages Doc. When I am saving it...it saves under a pages doc that no one can open. I have tried saving it with the .doc or .docx at the end and get the same problem. Is this the wrong program to use or am I missing something...

Love to understand why the Verizon texting app is not compatible with the ellipsis 8 ? I bought this Tablet to replace my old Samsung Galaxy tablet that died from over use. I was told this tablet was a very comparable it is not. Texting has to be linked to a smart phone (another purchase) ellipsis has it own number and should support it own texting

The part about getting the text to a phone for security reasons is the only thing I'm not sure about in your situation, but surely you have a phone and can get a text. Hope this helps. Is the tablet added to the account for messaging?

I purchased an app just about an hour ago and it tells me that the app is not compatible with the hardware I already have and in good working order. I already bought an app for the same hardware for my iPhone, it's just different version for the iPad, so I bought it.

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that app, click the arrow to the left of it, click the 'Report a Problem' button :
and then the 'Report a Problem' link on its line :
and select 'inadvertently purchased' as the problem and fill in the details (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).

Thanks, unfortunately that is another problem that is occurring, when I go to Update Software I get the message that software is up to date, with version being 7.1.2, I have tried to update through itunes, wifi, etc, and it indicates the software is up to date.

CS5 is unsupported. It might work, it might not but you're on your own.

I do think you should ask yourself if upgrading to Lion is the right course to take.
Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and Lion has literally been frozen out after barely a year. Remember too that some of your apps may not work with Lion (those that have Rosetta, for example) so that could mean more new purchases. Plus you may need to uprate your RAM too.
