It provides great sound and video quality, can plug into most stereos and televisions (make sure you have the red and white audio inputs on the stereo and all three red, white, and yellow audio/video inputs on the TV or VCR/DVD player). It's more costly than most standard stereo connectors, but it has more abilities.

Sorry, but at present, there is nothing available for the iPhone or iPod Touch to stream audio (via AirTunes) to an AirPort Express Base Station (AX).

IPhone 4 - Pioneer Speaker System No Longer Works After Firmware Update

I recently updated the firmware on my iPhone 4 from 4.1 to 4.2.1. Unfortunately, as soon as I did that my Pioneer (XW-NAV1K-K) Speaker System no longer works with my iPhone. Are there plans on correcting this in the next firmware?

Look iTunes>Preferences>Devices...is a backup listed for your iPhone 5 dated BEFORE you restored your iPhone 4 backup to your iPhone 5? If not, your data is gone. If there is a backup, on your iPhone 5: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You should now be able to restore that backup, if it exists, to your iPhone 5.

Best operating system for music applications( or most popular)

hi, gonna be buying a mac laptop.
im not feeling leopard for coupla reasons.
im new to all this by the way. so dont know about the diff versions of operating systems for mac........i just know tiger 10.4 was one prior.
for music software, which op system and version is most compatible with the various music apps and vst companies etc out there. like i dont mind not using the latest versions of popular programmes like pro tools and logic and ableton.
leopared is very specific and not backwards compatiblewith alot of software it seems.

like if you have service pack 2 XP, i know youre good to go. simple as that.

What FUD. Seriously. Plenty of people on this board are running leopard with no problem. My leopard is solid, and it runs logic and reason.
Leopard worked fine on my G5.
As for the comment about leopard not being able to run tiger....well, that's kinda mind blowing.

Replacement AC Adapter for speaker system

i have M5300 speaker system which its adapter died today....i replaced it with a universal ac adapter which outputs 12V - 200mA..
the original ac adapter read 12V - 2.9A ......
after replacing the ac adaptor, i could not pump the sound up as it becomes very distorted esp the bass.....
is this amp difference causing the problem? any suggestion plz

Yes, it should be workable as long as the new AC adapter provides more power than the old one, as well as having the same round connector.

I have a couple of articles that can help you troubleshoot this issue. First, if you are downloading HD content, you will need to know the system requirements for HD playback, which can be found here:

Normally yes, Bluetooth can connect to multiple devices at the same time, so yes.
The only thing is that you'll be able to send sound/music to only one at a time, but I understand the Garmin HUD doesn't play sounds.

HT3310 Connecting new iPhone 5 to sound system.

I just got new iphone 5's. i also have several "computer sound systems" throughout our home we connect our phones and iPads to. The new 5's wont play when connected. Is there an adapter now required for this?

These are computer amplified speaker systems you would hook up to you desktop computer using a mini audio cable usually supplied with the system. The mini cable ends plug into the old iPhone 4's and the iPads and allow the music to be heard like a good stereo system. The cable fits into the new iPhone 5, but no sound is played. Is this any clearer?

5.1 Speaker system on MacBook

I've just bought a 5.1 Esc XCite surround speaker system, which I've connected to my MacBook using a TOSLINK cable and a mini adapter. If I put a 5.1 DVD in the drive then I'm definitely getting wonderful 5.1 audio out - great! I can also play stereo CDs and get the usual OS X sound effects.
So here's my question. What should I see when I use Audio Midi Setup to examine the audio output device? I expected that when I select Audio Output and click on Configure speakers that I should be able to select a 5.1 speaker set up. But I can't. It stays on Stereo. What's going on? Have I missed something? This is important to me because I'm developing an Audio Unit based on the Core Audio 3D mixer and I need to have the correct speaker configuration set up.

I've found the reason for the problem: the optical output port can only output 5.1 surround information if the data is encoded in Dolby DTS/AC3 or Pro-logic; otherwise the port can only handle stereo. Most DVDs contain Dolby surround sound data which the optical port transmits directly. The decoder built into the speaker system decodes the Dolby signals and produces the 5.1 sound. Hence DVDs play beautifully using the optical port. Sadly, Core Audio does not seem to include an appropriate codec to convert arbitrary 5.1 audio into DTS/AC3 data.
To get a true 5.1 system, I need to buy a Firewire/USB sound card with individual feeds to each speaker. I have a Firewave on order and I'll report how it works. Unfortunately, the Esc Xcite system doesn't have individual speaker inputs, so it can't be connected to the new sound card but I've sold it on to a friend who's very pleased with it. Of course, I now need to buy a new speaker system, but at least I know what to look for.

Play iphone 4 on surround system w/o aux input

Anyone happens to know how to play my iphone on my surround system, provided that my systems (and most system) dont have an aux input? I can buy the dock system for ipod/iphone, but that cost $100, any ideas?

Sure. On the back of the dock is what's called an audio line out jack which looks the same as the headphone jack on the phone, but behaves differently.
The line out jack sends a consistent line level signal to the speaker system that is unaffected by the volume control on the phone. When using it you'll use the volume control on your speaker system to control volume.
Connecting in this way well help insure the best quality sound from your speaker system.
