I'm creating menus in motion but when I drag .motn to DVDSP it appears black.
Please do not suggest exporting to .mov

You may not be following the correct procedure. Motion projects are imported into the asset list and then pulled into your canvas. I know it works. I use Motion elements on most DVDSP projects.

There are many things that could be wrong with your process and there's no way to tell from where I'm sitting. You need to be willing to entertain the possibility that you're the problem.
We know the integration works, exactly as hyped (except for the immediate part, which is completely machine-dependent). Motion uses an entirely different part of the Mac OS than DVDSP does, and tries to use your GPU. The Motion image has to be shipped back to DVDSP and then (more or less) transcoded to appear in the Canvas of the other application. Do not even think you're going to see the .motn in real time in DVDSP. It's not an easy task yet. Maybe with future releases of the of OS or the suite integration will get faster.

Timeline to Motion menu black gap

I am creating a Blu-ray DVD from HDV footage 23.98 encoded to mv2 using compressor as 1440 x 1080 @ 23.98 15-25mbps. Created the DVD in Encore CS4. When the video ends it goes to black for about 3 seconds then goes to the motion menu which is a match frame from the video in the timeline. There are no overrides set and it is programed to jump to the motion menu at the end at the timeline. Anyone seen this and know a work around? The only thing that is non standard is that the motion menus are a 5 minute video that is counting down. Would a five minute motion menu cause this?
Second question:
Can a motion menu be paused at the end the way DVD Studio Pro does?

Generally this is a player specific issue and not the authoring.
Most dvd and blu-ray players will freeze the last frame of the previous menu/transition/timeline while it loads the next one. Some players do not (such as the PS3 I believe).
Also, this is unlikely your issue, but sometimes when a disc is burned too fast, the player has difficulty reading the disc (trying to read over the errors), thus causing prolonged delays between menus/transitions/timelines where the player will display black as it searches for the asset on the disc.

Motion in a Black Screen Mode that Won't Esc

I have tried Fn F8, Esc, Cmd-, etc., but I can't navigate away from this full screen mode in motion. At least I htink I am in full screen mode. I have quit the progam and relaunched, and for a split second after the relaunch the other areas of the program will show and then the screen goes black. If I control click, I get the options New group, Impost, Project Preferences. If I select one of those, I believe it is going to that option, but I can't see the new option window open. Please help- this is so frustrating!

How to make the bookmark menu black in FF 29.1 O/S Windows 7???

I have fixed all my issues with new FF 29.1 except one, I used to use Noia 4 but it's no longer available in FF 29.1. When using Noia 4 I was able to have a black background with white writing in my bookmark menu. I'm now using Solid Black by MaDonna, but it doesn't change the colour of the bookmark menu is there a way around this as it was much easier for me to read with my poor eyesight. Any help would be gratefully appreciated by both my eyes and me. Cheers and thank you very much to anyone that takes the time to read this and possibly help with the problem.

As I said in your other thread, themes (AKA lightweight themes, personas) only change the background of toolbars. You need a complete theme if you want to change the background of menus, or the appearance of buttons.

Motion with JPEG black and white

When I zoom in on a black and white JPEG photo, it goes out of focus unless I click drop shadow or motion blur. What's going on here? Why does it go out of focus, and why should "drop shadow" or "motion blur" make it sharper?

You editing in a video format designed for television display, but you're not monitoring on the correct device. The addititional effects you apply make the image more acceptable on a computer screen but defeat the format for what it's designed. If you working in video you have to monitor on a video display, regardless of your final delivery format.

Firefox 8 bookmark menu blacks out - did no one test this program?

Firefox 8 seems to perpetuate the errors of the previous version plus add its own new problems. I just upgraded to Firefox 8 on Windows 7 Home Premium. The bookmark menu (which some idiot decided to try and hide) turns black when I scroll down through my bookmarks. Some bookmarks turn back to grey as the mouse cursor moves over them (like when I stop scrolling), but they turn black again as soon as I scroll. This is not unlike the previous version's behaviour of highlighting all of the bookmarks as the mouse cursor rolled over them. How about getting some standard libraries that work?

I fear it's KWin effects fault: deactivating compositing(*) makes firefox behave perfectly on those cases...

*: to make it fast, click Meta+F12 (Meta is usually Alt+Shift) or type this in a bash shell "qdbus org.kde.kwin /KWin org.kde.KWin.toggleCompositing" (without double quotes ofc)

To expand upon Jakob's question: before going to the Share drop down menu you need to either select the project in the Project Library, or to make the Timeline window active by clicking in it.

HOW TO FIX ERROR CODE "TOO MUCH MOTION IN MENU CONTENT"

I can't seem to find this error posted. When I selected to burn an Image this error came up along with a button "Open DVD Map" which I did and no error flags were present.

The length of the motion content you have used in your limits exceeds the maximun limit. You must reduce the length by editing the movie.
I am using iDVD 7.0.1 not 8 but "7" is not listed.

Poor quality of motion background menu

Hello to all.
For the first time I have made a motion menu with Encore CS5.1
The video background of the menu is of poor quality. It seems that the frame rate is lower than normal.
I have made an experiment:
the menu shows a button which gives access to a video sequence which is the same as the background of the menu. The sources are strictly the same.
The result is that the backgroud menu is of poor quality compared to the content linked by the menu although the assets are the same.
The settings I have used are in the images below.

OK, what you do is very simple indeed. Create a menu if you haven't already got one, and click on it so it appears in the editor window. Click and drag out a button rectangle and use the property inspector to add text to the button and include it in the button highlight. Set the target for the button and repeat the process for any other button you want to add. Make sure that you use the 'Settings' drop down box and assign the button navigation.
That's it.

Pic not showing up in Menu (Black and Gray 3 photos across)

I created a menu and it was all okay when I went back into it to burn, I preview it first and the 3 photos across arn't showing so I droped them in again and it's still not working.
What am I doing wrong or what did I do to make them not show. Can anyone help? I need this get this DVD done tonight

Playback menu blacked out on web pages when viewed with a PC

I created my web page on my Mac, then published it. It looks fine on my Mac, but when I view my site on a PC, the video page doesn't have the playback buttons visible under the movies. Anyone know how I can fix this so that my friends and family can see the play and stop buttons?

If you are going to load stuff as QuickTime you need to offer the download for PC users that don't have it.

You need to adjust the frame size to fit the movie and then add about 17px to the height to show the control bar.

All footage BLACK in Motion 4!

Any footage either sent from FC4 or imported into Motion 4 displays BLACK. Footage is viewable in the internal viewer, Quicktime, in the file browser preview, and on an external monitor. Media preview shows BLACK as well as in the inspector. Footage exports out fine. Same issue when opening old Motion projects.
Dumped preferences, repaired permissions, zapped the pram. I'm at a loss. I'm open to any suggestions.
Any thoughts?
System is an 8 core MacPro running 10.6.8, 8Gigs Ram, GeForce 8800 GT

Problem solved!
Issue turned out to be a custom monitor profile generated with an eye one and the X-Rite software. Switching back to a default profile brings Motion back to full functionality. The same issue has been caused by calibration profiles generated by other venders software. Only Motion effected. Weird!
This had a positive side... my skill level in AE has gone up more than a few notches.

Dvd Studio Pro crashes whenever usuing a menu using motion video

Im using DVD Studio Pro 2 on a G5. Whenever I try to burn using either a menu template containing video or use a drop zone containing video, the software crashes.
I always use m2V video and ac3 audio created in FC4. Have tried usuing an existing file asset as my target with duration time set as well as separate imported files as the target. All imported assets are in the same folder
On burn, when it gets to the menu containing the video it crashes. If I remove the video from the menu its a smooth burn.
Any suggestions wouldbe greatly appreciated.

The same problem as Chad's happens to me when running the Chapter 6 tutorial in the Apple Pro Training Series (APTS) book for Motion 3: if you try to set the imported Motion project as a DVDSP background, DVDSP will crash every time.
Max Average's advice is 100% good with the downside being that you lose your ability to roundtrip. If you export your Motion DVD menu project as a standalone QT movie, it will drop in fine and still retains the loop point (a marker preset within Motion). Exporting with the Lossless+Alpha codec gave me the best image in the DVDSP simulator (over Animation+Alpha, Uncompressed 10-bit, and ProRes HQ).
I find roundtripping between FCS2 apps is a hit and miss affair and, generally, just export everything.

Highlighting motion content??

i create all menue backgrounds including text and buttons in motion. is there any way to use motion content (i could render the buttons in a separate video files) in the dvd menue as buttons, that change when selected and activated?
example: in motion i have black background, create three lines of gray text (chapter 1, 2, 3...) and turning orange wheels in front of each line of text
is there a way in dvdst pro to treat these 3 wheel/text areas as buttons WITHOUT changing the black background. for instance changing only the intensity of the turning wheel!

If I am understanding correctly (Meaning it is something like a wheel with four spokes so the whole thing is rotating and the outer circle and the spokes change colors when selected or activated.) - that you want the wheel to change color - you cannot do that using DVD SP and menus
There are other approaches such as buttons over video with a bit of work
