Motion is so slow and is using over 100% of my cpu?

hi i am just learning motion but am hitting a brick wall, any help would really appreciate it,
i am using motion 3 on a g5 dual 2.7 ghz with 5.5 gb of ram and have replaced the original graphics card with the ATI Radeon X800 XT,
it either quits when opening with a template or when i put an effect like echo on it will be so slow that i cant work, i checked on the activity monitor and it is using 103 % of the cpu, which also prevents me using any other program even safari.
what should i be doing as i thought the new graphics card would solve this ?
any ideas? i am hoping its just a matter of changing the settings or preferences somewhere so i can get maximum use out of this expensive new card?
cheers a million to any helpful solutions
simon

cheers for your reply,
okay so i will update the operating system( i think i have updated i just havent updated it in the forum
i have just put the graphics card in,(i havent noticed an improvement yet)
so maybe i need to look at the ati website and download the latest driver for the card.
i empted the ram preview and deleted the plist, this seemed to run better.
cheers again any more suggestions i really appreciate.

When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above. Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first. Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

Nope, I don't have a "/Users/charon/Library/Mobile Documents" directory, let alone anything underneath it. Is that like an iCloud thing or something?  I tend to avoid the Apple-supplied services when I can (I don't use iTunes either unless I can help it).
As an update, as of about two days later this problem seems to have solved itself. Possibly sleeping and waking did something to it (though that seems unlikely given how many times I rebooted), or else there was just some long-*** kernel process that finally worked itself out.  But my system CPU is back down to normal and the cursor freezes are gone.
    ??? it is a mystery! ???

  • Mobile device manager is using over 50% of my CPU and slowing down my computer, is there any way to change this? I have an Ipad and my kids have an Ipod so I can't disable this but I would really like to not have it running all the time

I recently got an Ipad 2 as well as an ipod touch.  I have 2 laptops at home that I have synced the devices with, one is running vista and the other XP.  Both of the computers are now running really slow and when I checked my CPU usage it is showing that mobile dvice manager is using around 50% of my CPU and it is constantly running in the background.  I am wondering of anyone has any suggestions on how to keep dvive manager from running when my Ipad is not even connected to the computer.

  • Time Capsule - Very slow and eventually unresponsive over wi-fi.

    Hi,
I've been using my TC for some time now, but it was the first time I had to recover a file. I know it's slow as **** to backup over wi-fi and that it takes aaages to "prepare" the backup. Also I did the initial backup using a cable and not wi-fi.
My question is: Why is it SO slow to browse and restore small files from a not-so-far-away backup, like, from yesterday? First, when I tried to browse the previous versions of the file it took aaaages to show the contents of the folder and eventually crashed while I stared incredulous the screen...
Then when I tried again it took it a very long time to browse the folder (I went for a coffee...) and then another 5 minutes to restore a very small file.
I know it's not supposed to be blinking fast, but it's borderline unusable. Isn't it supposed to be at least "not annoying"?

Experiencing the same problem. Drag/Dropping a 30Mb file from my HD to TC takes about a minute. Tried about all suggestions and didn't see an improvement. TC is in 5GHZ n mode with only my iMac as a client. Speeds should be around 9 Mb/s instead of the 0.5 Mb/s I'm observing. I've switched off Spotlight indexing for TC, de-activated the Airport status indicator, did several hard resets of TC and put ACK at zero instead of the default value of 3. No major impact; my 30Mb file continues to be transferred in around 60 seconds from iMac to TC. I read one comment that TC might be sensitive to heat, so my next trial-and-error initiative will be to put TC in a cooler spot to see if this has an effect. I'm very eager to learn how to get TC up to 9 Mb/s and hope Apple will pick up on this discussion. I assume they're very aware of the issue as there's quite some discussion going on on this topic. One thing I also tried was downgrading TC firmware to a more stable version, where Airport Extreme v5.5 was advised. I didn't succeed, assuming this old version is not compatible with my Intel Mac. I would like to know if there's a stable robust throughput firmware version available for TC I could downgrade to...??

  • IPAD 4 Problem with reduce motion/starts to slow and lag (iOS 8.1.2)

i dont know how to fix this. when i use my 4 fingers gestures. its not animating (fade in/fade out) just delayed for 1 or 2 seconds. my whole iPAD is affected. my msg, apps, etc are getting slower and slower. i checked for my storages its not even full.
My games are so slow too. aghh. it kills me   please help me to fix this. PLEASE

    Hi taamarco,
If you are having issues with your iPad's funcionality being reduced, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPad -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPad to factory settings -
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • Premiere Pro using over 100% CPU

When I open up Premiere Pro, it is using about 6.5% CPU. I can cut, move around in the timeline and add effects ok. But when I play the video (even if its just one track with no effects) my computer starts running very hot and Premiere starts using over 500% CPU. the CPU cores heat to the 90s Celsius. Below are some specs, let me know if you need more to help answer. Thanks!!!
    MacBook Pro
    OS X 10.9.4
    2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Adobe Premiere Pro CS 6 - version 6.0.0
Here's the CPU and temps before Premiere plays anything...
Here's while it is playing through a video...

First of all, I strongly recommend that you update to 6.0.5. You'll reap the rewards of many bug fixes. I won't venture whether that alone will help with the temperature.
As you probably know, video processing is one of the most processor-intensive activities you can ask your computer to do. Exactly how hard your CPUs will be pushed depends on at least four factors:
The type of video, namely the codec. Those that use interframe compression are much more processor-intensive than intraframe compression.
the resolution, or pixel dimensions, of the video: higher resolution = more pixels = more work
the number of layers in your sequence. And be aware that if you're using nested sequences, you need to include all the layers in each of them.
effects. Some effects like scaling and color correction require a lot of processing.
One key data point you left out regarding your computer is the graphics card. A card that supports GPU processing will take a lot of the stress off of the CPU. From the system specs you provided, I gather you're on the Late 2011 MBP. If it has a 6750M or 6770M with 1GB of VRAM, then it's supported for CS6, but not if you have the 512MB version. (Here are system requirements for CS6: System requirements | Adobe Premiere Pro)

    Hello all,
I have an issue with my development and need your help and feedback for the same:
I  have developed various E-Learning courses which was published some in  Flash Player 9 and some with version 10. Since Flash Player 10.1 was  introduced all my developed courses was running fine. But it's found  that user who are using Flash Player 10.1.85.3 is facing issue with file  loading and playing the courses. Some time Flash player fails to load the  chapters and files after preloading 100%, and sometime it's very slow in  loading performance. I like to intimate that all these was not happening  with Flash player version 10. Please give me any idea where I am going  wrong. Is this kind of issue possible? If anyone faced the same experience. Please give me your valuable feedback.
Please  Note: I have faced an scenario that, suppose a user is stuck with loading  the course, and after getting stuck he clear his browser cache, and  immediately after that the same player start working fine. And loading  the course chapter properly. Need help to get rid of this kind of  situation.

  • Tasks using over 100% of CPU?

There are a few Root tasks that occasionally use more than 100% of my CPU according to my Activity Monitor. One of them was at 148% at one point.
There is usually just one Root task that uses that much CPU whenever I open my Macbook from sleep or it just happens at random times. And the only way to stop it is to force quit the task that is making it do that. It all started after I was ripping a DVD using iSkySoft and it froze so I had to force quit. Once it quit, the CPU problem came up.
Why does it do this? Do I just have to check the Activity Monitor every now and then to delete the Root tasks that use a lot of CPU? Is there a way to permanently make it stop?

Well the root task problem stopped but now I just turned on the computer and Finder was using about 80% CPU for some reason but it seems to be working now after I quit it in Activity Monitor and brought it back up again.

  • IMovie 11 slow and stuttering using Motion 5 clips

    Hi,
I'm using an 'old' 2008 Macbook Pro with 6GB Ram and a 2.5 Core 2 Duo.  Until now, everything has always worked with iMovie 11.
But now I'm trying something new:  I've retimed some .mov clips using Motion 5 --had no problem doing that-- and I 'shared' (rendered?) them using the default settings.  The files are larger than the original .mov files from the camera (original around 200MB,  retimed file around 700MB).  I put the files in the iMovie Events folder, started up iMovie and I can see and use the retimed clips just fine.
However, for the first time, iMovie is really struggling very hard, the clips are stuttering and sometimes I have to wait for 2 or 3 seconds before playback continues (in the preview window, while editing in iMovie).
I've closed all unnessary applications and services, and all looks great in Activity Monitor, but still, iMovie editing is virtually impossible.
My question is :  will I be able to render the final movie without the stuttering, even though it's stuttering in the preview window?
Can I do something to get it faster while editing in iMovie?  Or did I do something wrong with rendering in Motion 5?
Or do I just need new hardware?
    Many thanks,
    Kris

    hi,
if you are slow moing the footage then you could expect the resultant files to be bigger, since the clips are longer. However if they don't play well in iMovie, it could be that you have rendered them out with a codec that your computer cannot handle. Motion gives you a whole heap of codecs to render out to, and its even easier if you have Compressor. Have a look at one of the clips that you know does play nicely in iMovie. Open it in Quicktime player and then get the info window open about it. There it will tell you what kind of compression it has been rendered in, what the pixel dimensions are etc etc. You will want to try and copy those settings with your new clips out of Motion.

  • Why has firefox become so slow and it use to be so fast, why do pages take so long to load now.

Firefox use to be very fast. Now it takes a long time for pages to load. There is no malware or spyware. Hardware is working right. Have started using Safari to get the speed I use to get before, but I miss Firefox. I disabled all my addons and plugins and still at times it reminds me of dial up. I have a cable connection of +15 mps. I also constantly clean my cache so it isn't that. IE is much, much faster as well. I have totally uninstalled it and reinstalled it as well, but it doesn't help.

Maybe it is a problematic add-on? At the top of the Firefox window, select Help<Restart With Add-ons Disabled. This will start Firefox in safe mode. If you notice anything is faster, than chances are the problem you were having was an extension. Disable all of them, then begin enabling them one by one. Restart each time you disable an add-on. If you notice Firefox is slow after enabling a certain add-on, then, problem solved (hopefully).
Another thing you can do is install FasterFox, a helpful add-on that increases the speed of Firefox. Download here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fasterfox-9148/
