Motion paths change from smooth to linear when I reopen a project

Hi All
I'm using Motion 3 and I am finding that after setting my bezier points to smooth, then saving the project, when I reopen the file all the points I had previously set to smooth are now linear?!
Does anyone have a clue why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Thanks to the people at The Cow!
It would appear that LOCKING layers causes this to happen. Like other people I thought that locking my layers would prevent accidental changing of parameters but locking the layer actually causes this parameter change.
I hope Apple sort out this glitch.

Why is my audio out of sync when I reopen the project?

Newbie question:
I've synced my audio and video in the timeline, and linked everything, saved, etc, but when I reopen the project the next time I work on it, the audio is off again by a few frames.
I can't figure out why this is happening. What step(s) am I missing?

Motion path changes gets larger when copied to Shape Position parameter

Richard Gerard has been helpful, and well as other people.
I have sorta figured out how get a stroke to follow a motion path.
I (so far) am unable to get a shape to follow the same motion path.
My shape is a small ellipse commonly known as a circle!
I have seen this post - http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/959085, which is interesting,
but does not work. My shape layer consists of name, "Blue Circle", and two properties below that:
Contents and Transform. If i copy the path into the Transform-Position property the path is about 2
times bigger than the path I want to use, and does not start at the correct spot.
After reviewing the post above - I added a "path" to the ellipse in the "Contents" area, I can see the path, it is the correct size,
but the circle does not follow this path. If I try to copy this path to one of the position properties, no dice,
the path completely displaces the shape to the wrong coordinates.
I must be missing something basic here, but have yet to find out.
Any tips will help.

The position path is offset because your Black Solid with the mask isn't in the default position. Both Anchor Point and Position must be reset. Parenting can also foul this up. Here's how to fix it.
First of all, before you copy and paste the path remove parenting and return the solid with the mask to it's default position by resetting Anchoe Point and Position. Now when you paste the path to your Blue Ball it will exactly match the path on the solid layer. Once the path is set you can redo the parenting and reposition the layers but you must include the blue ball. If it were me I'd create a null and make that the parent of the Black Solid, the Blue Ball, and the Map. Now you can animate the position of the null to scroll across the map and the blue ball will follow.
To match the timing of the stroke to the blue ball you simply drag out the right most diamond keyframe on the blue ball position until it matches the last position of the stroke.. That's all there is it. Your timeline should look something like this:
One last question. You have a non-standard composition size. It may not render correctly. What is the reason for the odd size. NTSC D1 Widescreen should be 872 X 486, It's acceptable to also have a comp that's 872 X 480. MPEG compression requires an even number of pixels so your 853 dimension is very likely to cause problems or be automatically resized to a standard frame size.

Bit rate changes from 16 to 32 when resampling...why?

I have a few DV Pal Quicktime Movies which have an odd sample rate - slightly above or below 48Khz - this is a problem with the camera which I know about.
So, I open the clip into Soundtrack 1 and resample to 48Khz then click on Save (not Save as) - this saves the corrected audio into the clip.
It also changes the bit depth from 16 to 32 bit which FCP doesn't like - does anyone know why it does this and how to stop it from doing it?
If I do other things such as removing background noise and click Save it keeps the 16 bit depth so I can't understand why it changes it to 32 bit when resampling.
The workaround is to Save As a Quicktime movie with 16bit selected or just bring in the AIFF from FCP but I'd like to know why it changes the bit depth if I bring in the whole clip.

I have had a similar problem in porting audio between STP & Pyramix, a PC based DAW - often files that I have exported from STP will be recognised as 32 bit files in Pyramix, resulting in gross distortion, and a totally unusable file. This is most frustrating.
I really have no idea what is happening, but believe it must be to do with the way STP handles audio. Another observation is that if you look at a .STAP file in windows explorer, you will see some interesting things - mainly that it is not a "file" more of a directory, containing for example:
a) the audio file
b) an effect file (if you've got some effect on it, or have spliced it etc)
c) a Metadata file
d) and a render file
Perhaps this has something to do with STP wanting to change the wordlength of the audio that it is handling ???

HP Officejet 4630 Printer....how do change from the default setting when printing from the web?

HP Officejet 4630.....Windows 8, 64-bit
When printing from the web I am not able to change the print size.
1. Click File on Menu bar
2. Click Print open dialog box
3. Click Properties open printing shortcuts
Everything in Printing Shortcuts have a lock on it. Including Factory Default.
Any and all help with this problem will be appreciated.

We are using hot-deploy in our development environment. When we move from
          hot-deploy to war file deployment in the test environment, we have to recode
          all of our servlets to point to a new URL for our JSPs. Obviously, this
          slows up war file deployment. We'd like to keep hot deploy for development
          purposes, but need to resolve this issue.
          Hot deploy environment:
          wlserver6.0sp1/config/mydomain/applications/DefaultWebApp_devserver linked
          to our content (JSP, HTML, source code, etc.) directory, in this case
          /u1/webapps/zq.
          wlserver6.0sp1/config/mydomain/applications/DefaultWebApp_devserver/WEB-INF/
          classes/com linked to our class library structure.
          Here's what works in hot deploy:

The language changed from english to spanish when i moved to Costa Rica from Canada. I still want it in English...how do I change it back

My search box (top right) changed from Yahoo to Google when i updated Firefox. Google isn't listed in the dropdown menu as an option, so how do I get it back?

I'm guessing this is an extension add-on issue, but don't know why it went away. When I go to "manage search engines" and then "get more search engines" i see a ton of options. i just want the simple google search I used to have.
Please let me know where that is.

That didn't seem to do it, I got a notification at the bottom of the page that said any attempt to change it has been blocked. But I found that there was a small window open for toolbar options and there was a box that was checked that said something like "allow no changes to default searchbar" or something. I unchanged it and then changed the search engine like normal and restarted the browser to check and it worked!

Print format type changed from 1024 to 255, when selecting 1024

when i execute a Z report, with Print format type, X_65_1024/4, it changes to X_65_255 , when i see in the spool and the data is wrapped around.
What is the reason for this.

Ipod never changes from Do not disconnect when attached to Laptop

I have been having issues with my ipod nano. I have gone through all of R steps, I have reset my ipod, updated my ipod, re-installed i-tunes and the ipod software, checked to make sure my PC is updated.. everything. I am about at wits end.
No matter what I do, when my ipod is attached to my computer I am unable to get Do not disconnect to go away, and i-tunes never recognizes my ipod. I am able to see it from windows explorer.
Please help. Let me know if you need any additional information for clairification. I miss my ipod!

HELP! Changes I'm making keep disappearing when I reopen my project...

I'm making a 25 minute video slideshow with the Ken Burns effect in iMovie. Many photos have titles in them (captions, basically). But I found several misspellings, so I corrected them. Then I opened the project again and all the corrections were gone. Everything was back the way it was!
So I corrected everything again, and the next time I opened it those corrections were gone again and things again back they way they were in the titles. (However, other changes I made, like adding photos, seem to be staying around like they should be.)
What could be causing this??? I have to fix this tonight.
(I should note that when I scrub through the video, or "Share" the project to iDVD immediately after the changes are made, the changes to the titles are there as they should be. They seem to only disappear when I close and reopen iMovie.)
I'm fairly new to this, and hate that you can't click "Save" and save your work like in a word processing document.

This is rubbish. Yes I too have closed an iMovie project and found my changes not saved.
There is no logic here. If you have a Done button, then NOT selecting Done should void your changes, surely? And if your changes remain intact, you assume the program is saving automatically.
Not having a Save button is stupid. Please do away with the Done button and reinstate the Save button - whadya say? Then we know where we are.

In cs6, my preview files are not saving on my Dynamic Link AE comps when i reopen the project

i cant figure out the life of me what seems to be the problem
This has been going on for a long time for me, dont know if anybody else has this problem, but for me, when i render out the whole entire sequence, everthing has the green bar, i save, i quit and reopen, the red bar appears and i have to re render all the Dynamic link comps again! its really annoying, i feel like its just collecting more space every time i do this

When I reopen iDVD project menu videos are lost...

If I try to retrieve the lost videos I cannot select them. If I open iMOVIE and "share" to iDVD the menus work. Anyone know what is going on here? I am assuming it has something to do with the fact that I need a graphics card but I'm looking for suggestions.

Unable to set custom speed to motion path on Camera

This is a followup question to "Controlling speed along motion paths"
(Many thanks to Mark Spencer and specialcase for the their excellent insights getting me this far =)
After experimenting with motion paths and realizing they were indeed what I was looking for, I set up my project so that the camera would follow specific paths along 2d images. Everything worked perfectly until I tried to modify the speed along which the camera travels along those paths.
In the motion path, in the speed drop down menu, I can select Constant, Ease in etc.... all the way to Custom, but they work slightly differently than I expected: while before (ie. applying motion curves to objects as opposed to the camera) I was able to getting a diagonal line in the Keyframe Editor where I could modify keyframes using bezier curves to adjust the speed, now, choosing the various speed options appears to change the "Transform.Position.X" and "Transform.Position.Y" curves directly.
When I select "Custom", "Motion path" and Custom Speed" appear in the keyframe menu above the Camera drop down, but its curve appears only as a dotted, completely horizontal line in the graphing window. The "Transform.Position.X" and "Transform.Position.Y" curves also revert to horizontal dotted lines. If I try to add curves to the custom speed line, the X and Y curves remain horizontal and the camera does not move.
Is there some reason I cannot get custom speeds for cameras without losing my motion path data?
Is there some way to work around this?

I'm not sure if there is some setting I have wrong:
When I try this, while I am able to set keyframes, the motion path data is reset. (ie. the Transform X and Transform Y curves reset to 0).
In the Keyframe Editor, I can make new curves for the X and Y values and for Timing, but the camera does not follow the motion path, it follows the new x and y curves. Trying to get those curves to match the motion path exactly is a large hassle.
This might help:
If I apply the motion path to an shape rather than to the camera, everything works perfectly (the object moves along the motion path, and I am able to set keyframes for the Custom Speed curve with no problems whatsoever). If I then copy the motion path directly from the shape and paste it to the camera layer, the path appears as a red curve (as it should), but the camera does not move.
Is there some way I can upload the motion file so that you can see what exactly is going on?
