  • After updating my iphone 4 to iOS6 the screen will periodically black out.  i have to shut it down 2 or 3 times to get it to come back on correctly.  any idea on a fix.  i have done a restore and that did not help

After updating my iphone 4 to iOS6 the screen will periodically fade out to black and will not come back up.  I have to shut the phone off and back on 2 or 3 times to get it to come back on.  I have done a restore and that did not help.  any ideas?  is this happening to anyone else?

did you restore from backup or as a new device?  Restore as a new device.  Before you add any apps to it, use the phone with just the iOS-installed apps.  If it's fine, slowly add a few purchased apps back at a time.  Do this until the offending app is found.

  • Mountain lion crashes my computer during install.

Help! I've got a solid backup, but during install, Mountain Lion threw my computer into a dead stop during the BSD init process.
Anyone else having this problem? I'm downloading the ML installer to try and boot from USB, but at this point I'm at a bit of an impass. If this doesn't work, I don't either tomorrow morning.
Besides calling me an idiot, any suggestions on getting back to running order?
    Thanks,

If you get a message there's not enough disk space, then you need to free up some space on your hard drive by moving some data off of it. Get an external drive and start moving or deleting data until you get to at least 8 GB free space.
If you're unsure what is taking up the space use Apple menu > about this mac > storage tab.
What does it report your free disk space as now?

  • HT4718 How can i reinstall OS X Mountain Lion on my computer after my hard drive failed and i had a new one installed?

I paid for Mountain Lion about 2 months ago and my Hard drive just crashed.  Is there a way i can reinstall Mountain lion without having to pay again?

What OS did it ship with? If it was Lion, then you can use Internet Recovery to install on the new drive. IR will install the original shipping OS. You can then log into the App store and upgrade to Mountain Lion.
If it came with Snow Leopard, you will need to install Snow Leopard from your install DVD, then upgrade to Mountain Lion.

  • I have a gray screen and why won't it load my OS?

Ok this is the deal I have been at this for three days.  I ran a disk verification and told me that my hard drive disk needed reparied.  I tried to repair it said to get as much stuff off that I can disk can't be repaired (it gave me a gray screen, with apple logo, and a bar at the bottom).  Since Maverick just came out I thought I would get that OS from another mac I have and make a bootalbe flash drive.  I have read how to do this did it manually and did it with third party software.  When I start the mac and hit option key the only thing it showed was my mac HD and lion recovery.  So I thought well I would just recover with lion then try bootalbe flash drive again.  So I erased my Mac HD and then went into reinstall lion.  It got all the way to the last ten min and flashed an error (did not give me an error code, just told me to start over.  So I need to know what I am doing wrong or why the usb drive is not showing up with the maverick install.  If you could help me out I would appreciate it very much (I have never had so much problem with a mac and I have had one since the 80's.  Here are the sites I have already gone to and tried.

I hope someone can help me out there.  I have also did all the apple support with the gray screen of death and I did and was able to retrive a lot of my files back.  I also erased my hard drive and did another check and it said it was fine.

  • I haven't used my iPod in a few months.  Gave it full charge, music showing on screen and in iTunes.  But when I push play, it says "Now Playing", but the time isn't moving forward and nothing is playing.  I have already reset it and that didn't help.

I've had this iPod Classic for a couple of years, and only use it every so often, mostly when I travel.  Just bought a speaker so I can listen in the house.  Gave it a full charge.  The music is showing up on the screen, and it also shows up in iTunes on my computer.  When I try to play something, whether it's a song, artist, album, whatever, the screen shows the name of the song and displays "Now Playing".  The time stays on 0.00, however and doesn't move forward;  and no sound is coming out whether on the new docking speaker or with a headset.  I tried the reset procedure, but still no change.  Can anyone help me?  Thanks!!!

A 4th gen iPod can not be upgraded to iOS 8. 7.0.2 is the high version it can run.

  • Itunes causes my computer to have a blue screen and shuts down when closing out Itunes window?

When I close out my Itunes window my computer goes black then to a blue screen with words about crashing then shuts down in Windows Vista!

Thanks, I did that yesterday and it worked. I tried to repair it but it said there was a fatal error and I don't even need that Mobile device support. anyway. So after I uninstalled it, it never happened the next two times I closed out Itunes after that.

I tried to restart, software is up to date and tried to restore but no luck.

  • Another Mountain Lion Crash

    Hi,
I have just had Mountain Lion crash, and not for the first time in the last few weeks.  Neither the keyboard or trackpad were responding so I had to do a hard reset.
There was no crash report, but I have copied the following from the console report, there are a few recurring errors, but can anyone suggest what may have gone wrong?

    Hi,
I think these were the last messages before I rebooted.  The Mac froze just as I was opening an incoming mail (ironically it was from Apple Support re another issue).  The only programmes I had open were iTunes, Mail and Print programme.
The only devices connected were the wired keyboard and printer and NAS connected through network.
It initially crashed around 7.40pm, but I didn't reboot until around 20:20 after dinner.  I have posted some of the messages around the time of reboot (immediately below) and other messages further down when it crashed around 19.40
    All help gratefully received.

You did the wrong things. In the future it's a good idea to remember not to do something when you don't know what you are doing and what happens when you do it.

    Try these in order:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
