Mountain Lion POP3 stops downloading
Mountain Lion Mail POP3 connects to the server, appears to download 39 messages, but doesn't.
Here are the steps taken so far:
Ran Connection Doctor. All accounts (POP3, SMTP, iCloud) connecting.
*^ Click* on *Inbox* to *Get Account Info*. Result displays messages on the server; Mail won't download.
Close Mail; reopen Mail.
Reboot user account.
Restart computer.
Ran Disk Utility to verify/repair permissions; verify disk. No issues.
Removed files from Inbox. Check mail. No change: files on the server remain on the server.
Backed up files, deleted account, then recreated account.
No change.
Via web mail interface, server side is functioning correctly. Email comes in; email goes out.
Also, when I manually *Check Mail*, often there's no indicator that nothing is happening (i.e. accounts are being checked); less often, I see the usual signs that each mail account is being checked.
No problem (yet) with outgoing mail.
Please advise, and thanks in advance.

Here's a document reference, although it sounds like you've tried many of the steps they suggest:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3276
To me, this sounds like you may have an issue with the incoming mail server name. I found that for my POP mail, Apple added an extraneous ".yahoo" to the string now suggested by the mail service provider. I would start by checking there -- in Mail ---> Preferences ---> Accounts

HT202159 Download of Mountain Lion OSX stops
Cannot download mountain lion. Stops and shows no record of partial download.
I did that too...says there are no unfinished downloads. Also restarted my computer 3x. On that note, since purchasing it about 8 months ago...has only properly restarted 1 time!

Mountain Lion keeps stopping and recalculating download at 53.25MB - I have tried several times now with resumes and restarts, no joy (have new iMac May 2012). Any ideas, please?
Thanks, bb2804In cases like this, if you have an Apple store near by, they will most likely install the OS free of charge for you, if you can't bring your Apple ID along to prove you've paid for it.
Would that work out for you? -
How to configure Mail app on mountain lion to not download all my emails in hotmail server. I need only just 1-2 weeks
Try going to the web based site and see if you can set up a temporary folder there. Move anything you don't want to download to that folder.

I bought and was downloading Mountain Lion but the download stalled. What do I do?
I bought and was downloading Mountain Lion but the download stalled. What do I do?
What do you see in the Mac App Store > Purchases section? The dl could just be paused, in which case you can resume it and carry on.
If it doesn't list it there then search your Mac for the installer incase it finished in the background and didn't start the installer automatically.
Finally, if you don't see it anywhere and you're sure it hasn't finished and actually updated without you realising it, you can email Apple's iTunes support team and they can either put it back in your download queue to try again or regrant you the download so you can 'buy' it again without having to pay.

I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading any restarting for installation, I got a message stating that the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version 6.0.3, which the update was for. Does this mean that the update is iinstalled and the message was incorrect?

I just bought the Imac on Monday, which was placed on the shelf on Saturday. Its now Thursday and I have to update the machine. Heck I haven't even bought the printer or the new desk for all this stuff....ha ha.
Good timing! Oh well, at least you shouldn't have to update again for a while. It will be nice kickstarting your Mac with the very latest System Update knowing any hiccups from 10.8.2 would have been ironed out if they were going to affect your workflow at all.
Cheers and Happy Computing

Mountain Lion will not download to my iMac, "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."
I have this problem also. I was able to download Mountain Lion to my daughter's Mac Mini without any trouble. However, I can't download this to my MacBook Pro. I have read other sites that suggest VirusBarrier is the problem and recommend turning it off in VirusBarrier>Preferences>Advanced. I have tried this and it still doesn't work, although some report that it has worked for them.

Mountain lion will not download thru the apps store. It has been purchased and redeemed. I have set my energy settings appropriately so computer will not turn off during download as Verizon offers a connection that is very slow. I have set the display to go to sleep (which I have set so I have to sign in again). When I sign in again, Mountain Lion OSX has disappeared from the launchpad. I have tried this several times. I do have Norton Internet Security on my Mac Air. I turned off the idle time scan on the Norton and tried again. Same results. Anyone?
Ask anyone around here, and they will tell you quite differently. AV software will slow down your computer, can be incompatible with software you use, can cause kernel panics and other problems. It is unnecessay since OS X has it's own protection built-in. AV software can no more tell the difference between safe and unsafe sites on your browser than could an elephant.
But, hey, who am I to argue with your tech person? Please, don't let me sway your opinion. How about a visit to:
Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.
See these Apple articles:

If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using VirusBarrier Express 1.1.6 or Dr.Web Light both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from the App Store, they won't destabilize the system. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.) -
Mountain lion too long download
Mountain Lion has been downloading on my computer for nearly 5 hours. Is this typical?
Yes that's right it's also took me five hours to download mountain lion
It's probably because the Apple servers are experimenting a lot of traffic at the moment.
Hope this helps

How long does mountain lion take to download?
On average how long does mountain lion take to download from the app store?
Always keep an eye on 'More like this', the column to the right of your initial post. You will often find answers and direct leads to your questions there.
In fact it relates to your ISP and the download speeds you have. I believe it is 4GB in size. -
how long does mountain lion take to download and where does it say how much it has left mine just says downloading ?
It's totally dependent on your broadband speed.
It took me about 45 minutes to download, but I have a reasonably fast connection.
It will often say in the purchased pane of the Mac App Store how much longer it will take. -
Mountain Lion will not download. App just says "download" on purchase button, but nothing happens. Any ideas?
My download took many many hours. Not sure if that is because of our ISP or load on the network. I also thought nothing was happening for my download. Try this:
Open App Store,
click on Purchased
You'll see Mountain Lion being downloaded and it will show the progress and estimated time to complete.
Take deep breaths and be patient. -
My mountain lion won't download, says downloading but no progress

Same problem. Appears to be related to the availability of OS X Mavericks now. Here is another post on this issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5503509?tstart=60

mountain lion keeps saying downloading but nothing ever happens. What do i do?
Hey cwicke11,
Try installing mountain lion in a new user. It will install on all users anyways.
To create a new user click >System Prefrences>Users & Groups(Or Accounts)>Unlock the lock in the lower left hand corner and click the plus above it. Name the user anything you want you can get rid of that user later.
Just log into new user and open the App store. Sign in with your Apple ID and go into the "Purchases" tab at the top. Download Mountain Lion from there and you should be good.
