Mountain Lion stopped downloading and is no longer visible

Because of a failure in the internet connection, the Mountain Lion download went to "waiting..." before it disappeared completely. I don't see it downloading anymore, I don't see it at all on the Launchpad. I already used my Redeem Code from Apple and although I keep checking for "unfinished downloads", nothing comes out. Is there still a chance for me to get the free OS X?

Tried resetting SMC ?

  • HT1338 Mountain Lion stops downloading at 41.3 mb's. Shows calculating and does not move on!

Trying to download Mountain Lion on a Mac mini and it is stopping at 41.3 Mb's. It shows "calculating" but does not move on beyond that stage! Version 10.6.8 is the current OS... Any suggestions?

I am having difficulties too!. I have found a way to push it along but don't know if in the end this will eventually succeed and I don't know why I am having to do this.
    For what it is worth.
But going to the app LaunchPad and clicking on the in progress OS X Mountain Lion download and pausing it momentarily and then clicking it again, I have gotten my download to keep moving along. Again I don't know why and I have had to do this several time to get the download to progress to 3.11GB out of the total 4.37GB. So I'm three quarter of the way thru and about to do the process again to get the apparently stalled download going again.....
OK. It is again moving along..... now to 3.27GB
Too me it has the symptoms of the download process finding it has a bad package and repeatly trying again until it stops trying. At that point is just stops. When one kicks it by doing the LaunchPad stop and go, I think it checks finds a problem and restarts the download of the problem packets .... that's my theory....
My download is now up to 3.79 out of 4.27GB.
I have been messing with this on three computers in my network for a couple weeks..... This is the furthest I have gotten..... Perhaps I will succeed today....
BTW - It appears to have stop again at 3.79.... I;m going to play the stop/go game in Launchpad....
After about aminute it has started downloading again.....
    Now 3.80GB.....
Perhaps Apple should look more carefully at it's caching servers...... I think they are either timing out connections or somehow making the past never fail Apple Downloaded look pretty advanced compared to this stop and go model....
I am now up to 4.03 and downloading with about 10 minutes to go....

  • OS X Lion and Mountain Lion stops downloading on me.

I recently wiped my old MacBook Pro running Lion clean. Reformatted and installed Snow Leopard. Installed all the updates that came up under a software update. Went to redownload Lion and it gets to 425mb completed. And then says "calculating". Won't restart again. No matter whether or not I log out the App Store, restart my Mac. Same thing with Mountain Lion. It gets to 79.4mb. Then stalls. Never starts again. I had Lion previously. Why will it not allow me to redownload it again ? I'm not desperate to fix this as I recently purchased a me MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. But a solution would be great so I could sell this or give it to a family member

No, there is no ISP limit on my bandwidth.  I have  restarted my router but still no success.  I can download other Apps but with Mountain lion 10.8 it simply says waing in mission control and in the App Store it say "an error has occurred".  I have been working at this now for 3 days and it is very frustrating and I do not think the error is on my side but elsewhere.
I would suggest to contact the Mac App Store Support Team. Make sure to note down the error message and the steps that you do that lead to the problem. Click the link below and select the "Contact Support" option in the sidebar, there you'll be able to appropiately select your options and possible support solutions including contacting the Mac App Store via e-mail.

  • Why does Mountain Lion stop downloading at 10mb?! HELP!

I keep trying to update my operating system to Mountain Lion. Everytime I download it, it downloads up to 10mb and then restarts back to zero. It does this
three times and then gives me this error: "The application could not be downloaded. Check your internet connection and try again" I have done EVERYTHING I have read online from other discussion groups and websites. My internet connection is fine...I've even plugged my iMac directly into the cable and router....my computer is compatible, newer, and has enough memory....I've tried "unhiding" my update purchase...I've tried with my computer in safe boot mode... I have gone through every troubelshooting step I could find, and can't get mountain lion on! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Mountain Lion stopped downloading.

I JUST opened my MacBook Air and I'm in the process of downloading the Mountian Lion OS. It was free and was going fine then STOPPED! In both the Launch Pad and The App Store. Then the downloading time started growing and hit like 21 hours.. So I stopped it and tried to redownload but my code says it will only work once. Any help?

I wish The download time is a function of many things and the estimate is frustratingly accurate sometimes and horribly inaccurate others. I once walked away from an estimated 12 hour download and returned an hour later to find it nearly finished. Conversely sat and watched a 4 minute download expand to 15 minutes and then an hour earlier this week. An hour it was. You can try pausing and then restarting the download or even quitting the App Store program and restarting it - may improve the time. May make it worse.

  • Having trouble getting mountain lion to download and install

Just purchased a license for Mountain Lion. Trying to download and install in ap store. Entered my redemption code, and the store said downloading, but nothing happened. Tried to enter code again and it said the code was already used. Can not download and install.

Once you have used the code you must then download from the Purchases pane.

Mountain Lion upgrade download stopped, now it states in purchased apps that 'an error has occured' and resume button is blank & will not work. Tried to re download, but it states code has already been used

    Danielle...
From the App Store menu bar top of your screen click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads
If that doesn't help, disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband (high speed internet) access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.

  • Hi, how do I create a standalone installer for Mountain Lion, ie, download once and then no more broadband required, thanks?

Hi, how do I create a standalone installer for Mountain Lion, ie, download once and then no more broadband required, thanks?
Context is that my other computers are not mobile and I do not have broadband worth troubling for a 4GB download - so will go to Apple Store with MacBook Pro for first download.

The easiest way is to download the installer but do not open it.
Next, make a copy of it and store it where it won't get lost.
Then take one of the copies and place into the applications directory and open it to begin the installer.
This has saved me the trouble of ever having to download the installer twice, plus you can mess around with the installer and try different options without having to worry about not having a clean install file if needed.
    Best wishes

  • Mountain Lion is downloading, how can I tell where it is downloading to and how much has downloaded?

Mountain Lion is downloading, how can I tell where it is downloading to and how much has downloaded?

In the "purchases" tab in the App Store you'll see a progress report.
Also once it completes downloading the installer will auto-launch.
Once you get Mountain Lion installed, if you have the Downloads folder in your dock you will get a progress indicator in the dock while it's downloading :-)
