Mounting my 24" iMac

Hey I was wondering if the VESA mount will work on my 24" iMac, I do not have the new one but the old 24" white model. Will that mount work?

Hello servernerver and antimatt
Que Ball figured it out, have a look at the discussions thread below:

hernanlaca had a small fight with my wife and half a bottle of Pinot Noir, befor he got it!
You'll need to place the iMac face down on the edge of the desk with the front edge of the stand hanging over (fully relaxed) in order to release the (catch) latch, then return it to it's normal position.

  • Mounting the new imac (late 2012)?

I need to mount the new Imac (prob the 27 inch) on an arm.  I found one reference that said there wasn't going to be a vesa mount.  Does anyone know if it will be possible to mount this thing?  I cannot use the stand.. it has to go on an arm for me.
    Help!!

I was ready to buy the new iMac 27 inch and found out there isn't a way to remove the stand and use a monitor arm! So I am not buying the new iMac.
    Just FYI.

  • What wall mount for 24"iMac?

Anyone mount their 24" iMac to the wall? What wall mount did you use? I'm looking at the Ergotron 400 series due to the weight of the iMac. I really like the Ergotron LX series but it does not have the capacity to hold the 24" iMac. What are you using to mount it to the wall? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I do need a mount that both retracts and lifts/lowers. Thanks!
    Bob

    Hi
I have wall mounted my 24" iMac using the apple amount and a fixed bracket from an LCD retailer, but my 20" cinema display is on a desktop gas arm bracket which connects to the edge of my desk. I got this from PC World.
I didn't want my iMac on an arm due to the moving components in the machine.
    Hope this helps?

  • Office 2008 DVD won't mount on my iMac 2009, but other DVDs do

I was trying to mount Office 2008 on my late 2009 iMac 2009 so I could share the DVD and install on my new MacBook Pro, which doesn't have a DVD. But it kept on getting ejected. I tried other CDs and DVDs and they all seem to work in my iMac.
Fortunately it did mount on my old late 2006 MacBook Pro, so I was able to share that DVD and do the installation.
But... what might cause it not to mount on the iMac? The Office DVD is obviously ok. And the iMac DVD drive seems to otherwise work.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Doug

Haha. I'm not insulted. In fact I even thought of that and tried it.
The label side was facing me, so I was sure that it was the correct orientation. But just in case I did try reversing it, but it did pop out anyway.
    Very strange.

  • External Lacie hard Drive would not Mount on my imac

    HI all,
I have had this Hard Drive for a few years now, worked great, no issues at all. Even after upgrading to 10.8 it continued to work.
A few days ago my cleaning lady moved the computer and disconected the Lacie drive (connected via Firewire) and since then I am not able to mount it again.
I see it on my Disk Utility but when I press "mount" I get an error messege "the disc can not be mounted, try First aid" but non of the buttons on First Aid work.
So far I tried re-settign the SMC, of course shutting down and starting back up numerus times but nothing.
I even tried working through Terminal, it can see the drive and its partition and when I looked online I saw a few commends to try and mount it, but nothing worked so far.
Here is what i wrote and got in terminal:

    Details on my system:
its 10.8.2, iMac Intel core duo 2
The Drive is connected by Firewire
The drive is clearly there, it's working, I hear and feel it working (spining) but can't mount it.
What can I do in order to mount it and get my data of of it?
this is extermely important as my itunes library is there. PLEASE HELP SOON!
    Thanks!

    Update:
so, I shelled out the $100 to get Disk Warrior, and got the following messege:
Directory cannot be rebuilt, the file system is unspported
This disk is not a  macintosh Disk
and further down the list it said: File system: Windows/PC
All of this is of course distressing as this has been a Mac disk for several years now, not to mention the $100 gone in the wind.
    what should I do now?
I have Parallels, would that help? is there a way of mounting the disk on there?
Should I try connecting it to a PC?
    Please Help me!!

  • How does one mount a VESA mount on a iMac 27"

How does one install a VESA mount on a 27" iMac and how long does it take to install it on the computer?

    den.thed,
Thank you.  I have 22 of these to mount on articulated arms and I had no idea of how long it would take to remove the leg and put the bracket on.  Like almost everything Apple, they make it fairly simple.

  • Since I have upgraded to mountain lion hhd cannot be mounted to my iMac. Either usb drives. What can I do?

After upgrading to mountail lion my imac can not mount hdd's or usb flash drives. What should I do?

Try this: in your Utilities folder launch Adobe Flash Player Install Manager and run it to completely uninstall Flash. Then go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and download Flash
Once downloaded, double-click to open it and run the installer. If you get a message saying the file can't be opened, or similar, Control+click or right click and select 'open' and should then be able to proceed to install it.

  • Looking for a wall mount for my IMAC 8?

  • Is it possible to hang/mount the new IMAC on the wall???

Just curious...just go one for my fiancee' and was wondering if it was possible to mount it to the wall to save a little space??? thanks Mike

No. Unlike the first two iMac G5 versions, the new iMac Intel CD---like the G5 iSight version it follows--- cannot have its stand removed from the back and is not VESA compliant.
Too bad, if you ask me, because the iMac would have been perfect if you could wall-mount it...

  • Mounting options for iMac G5

I need to attach an iMac G5 to mounting arm. The rep that sales the mounts said that his will attach to standard flat screen interface called VESA. The VESA interface is either 75mm or 100mm. Anyone tried to attach an iMac G5 to one of these?
    Thanks

    Thanks.
In another thread I found that the Apple Store sells a mounting bracket that replaces the stand. This bracket has VESA compliant holes at 100mm.

  • Cinema VESA wall mount and original iMac G5?

This has probably been asked before, but does the Cinema VESA wall mount like this one:
    http://www.macconnection.com/ProductDetail?Sku=5202648
Work with the iMac G5 1.8 Ghz original model? Or is only the original wall mount that came out when that iMac came out able to work with it?

I was hoping to find something on this forum about locating the VESA adapter kit for the G5 iMac and your thread is all there is . Every on-line retailer that shows them in stock actually have none (I called 5 different ones...Why can't they update websites?!?!)
Did you have any luck finding one. I am moving into a smaller studio and I desperately need to mount my 17-inch iMac. I can't find anyone anywhere! I even called the Apple store number listed on the website and the guy on the phone acted like he had no clue how to even search to see if Apple had any and his response was, "AppleCare would probably be able to help you out more than I could.." Sure enough I got transfered to a dead-end and after 20 minutes I hung up the phone!
What happen to all of the VESA mounts they had. I swear like 3 months ago they were selling them in the on-line store! What does Apple do with all of them? Trash them?
Anyways, please let me know if you were successful. So far I am getting no where

  • HVX-200 can't mount using the iMac Firewire 800?

My specs are Mac OS X 10.6.6 , iMac 2.8 i5 with 12GB of ram.
I'm trying to mount an HVX-200 Panasonic using P2 cards on my new computer via the iMac's Firewire.
Each time I connect, load up the camera. It always gives me a disconnect message on the camera. I can't mount my camera at all! I tried this using a Firewire 400 setup on a friends older machine, no problem.
Btw, I had to by a $40+ 9-pin to 4-pin Firewire cable on the Apple store and pay shipping just to find out all this is not working...
    Any suggestions here?

That cable is fine with the iMac - I am more concerned with your camcorder; see page 10 of the FAQ:
    +Does 24PN have a IEEE 1394 (Firewire) mode?+
+No, 24PN (and 30PN) modes do not transmit data over the IEEE 1394 (“firewire”) interface. The P2 HD camcorders only transmit SMPTE-compliant data streams over the 1394 interface, and 24PN/30PN recordings are unique modes that do not comply to established streaming protocols. Accordingly, 1394 output is disabled when using a Native mode.+
As I said, I know nothing about your camcorder, but I think it is time for you to contact the mfr and/or the store where you bought it and ask questions about these data streams and FW compliance. In the link I sent previously (description of such a cable) it said that both devices must be compliant and, according to these FAQs, it may not?

  • Is there a Apple-approved/supported way of hanging/mounting a 27" iMac?

I have a new iMac on order and have had several people ask me if I plan on mounting it. I was not aware this was possible with the iMac platform. Is it?
Nevermind... If only I had see the mount kit on the store before posting. Next time, I will RTFM.

  • My 750GB Maxtor external HD will not mount on my iMac 10.7.5 for Time Machine

This external drive has worked in the past; I had used it to successfully back up the same computer I'm using now. After attempting another long overdue backup, it aborted mid-way. I discovered some chew marks on the power cord and replaced it. The replacement power cord is the proper one, and the light on the Maxtor is on indicating power. I've tried two different USB spots, both of which work on other devices. However, now the Maxtor will not mount. My intention was to completely erase the Maxtor and start clean. Never got a chance. I've verified that the Finder Prefs have external disks checked.  Finder doesn't "see" it. Disk Utility doesn't "see" it. Time Machine doesn't "see" it. My desktop doesn't "see" it. Another external I have (WD My Passport Ultra) does mount. Is OS 7.5 the problem? How do I verify that the Maxtor is just plain busted before I throw it out the window?  Or have I already proved that? It was never used enough to fail, it seems to me. Anybody?

Rats. Thank you for the quick reply, rkaufmann87. I'm not awash in other USB cables of this type, but will hold out hope until I get my hands on one. Time to shop for another external probably. Thanks again. [sighs]

  • My LaCie mini Hub External won't mount on my iMAC.

It has mounted many times just fine in the past until now. How do I force it to mount? I don't see it in the disk utility at all and the power light is showing on the LaCie. Do you have any idea why this is happening? Please help!

    Hi
If the drive is powering on, then it is most likely not an issue with the USB port etc.
You may want to check in System Profiler under USB to see if the drive is there (Apple -> About this Mac -> More Info -> USB)
Also, try resetting the SMC & PRAM as that could help
