Move computer Internet disconnects and won't reconnect.

My internet works fine if I keep my computer in one place, but the second I move it even an inch to the left or right the internet disconnects and airport shows i'm not connected to any wireless networks and won't let me turn airport back on. The only way for me to get back on the internet is to restart my computer. Also if my computer is in one place and i want to move to another room i have to turn the airport off, move to the other room, then turn airport on to reconnect to the network. If i just pick up the computer and walk to the other room the internet stops working and i have to restart my computer. Any way I can fix this or is this a hardware issue?

Having exactly the same problem on my 15inch 2011 Macbook after also going from 10.6.8 to Mavericks. Wifi is totally unresponsive and I can only get the internet working through an ethernet cable. Been looking for a fix for about a week now. Nothing i've seen suggested in the forums seems to work.
Really need to get this working again, as I rely on Wifi to use my mb at work.

You'll need to erase the drive by booting up holding command-option-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
Use Disk Utility to erase the disk and then Internet Recovery. That will take a while.

I have the new iOS 6.1.2 on my iPad.  My wifi connects to my home network but keeps dropping it and won't reconnect.  Did not have this problem with previous iOS.  Apple, you have a quality assurance issue.  Don't be like Microsoft where they send out pieces of junk with testing it.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • TS4429 iphone loses service and won't reconnect since installing IOS 7

if my iphone 5 goes into an area of poor network connection and it 'drops' service (or shows 5 empty circles), when I move back into an area where coverage is better it won't reconnect unless I turn the phone off and on.  Have tried switching airplane on and off and resetting network settings to no avail.  Only started doing this since the upgrade to IOS 7.  Any ideas?

  • Firefox timing out and won't reconnect

I have done some searching on existing posts, and am not sure I have found a solution to my problem.
I am a new FIOS customer with land line, Internet and TV service.  I have the MI424WR Router.  All is well except the Internet connection.  I am running Windows XP service pack 3 with the latest version of Firefox.  After a few minutes of web browsing Firefox will time out trying to find a site, and will then not connect to any site.  If I end and restart Firefox it will not find the home web page.  If I then try to start Internet Explorer it to will not find a home page.  I have checked the Internet connection and it is still active.  The only way I can regain Internet connectivity is to reboot OR run my work VPN program.  When I do this I am able to establish a VPN connection and the web browsers will work.  If I then disconnect the VPN connection the browser will continue to work without issue.
So, is this a router issue?  A Windows issue?  What doesn't make sense to me is why I can establish a VPN connection but not a browser connection.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

When this happens, right click on your network connection and select the "Repair" option. Then try your browser again. Let us know if this works, or if it doesn't. It will help narrow down the possibilities of what it could be.

  • My wifi disconnects and won't turn on again

    Hi,
I have an issue with my wifi. When I login I have a working wifi, but then usually a few minutes in the wifi seems to turn off and won't turn on again. I have to restart the computer again in order to make it work.

  • SYFY movies via internet stop and start

Tried to watch (online) a movie on the SYFY channel.  The movie would play a few seconds, then freeze a while, then play, then freeze..... I tried again a day later with a different movie on that channel and got the same results.  Other channels seem to work fine.  Is there something different on SYFY that might cause this?.

    Paui,
You can also do a soft shutdown, which waits till the active users/sessions are logged out (Draing out the sesstions) and no more new users are allowed to login during that time.
Goto SM51, select the instace/server you want to stop then menu --> Goto --> Server Name --> Administration --> Shut Down Server (soft).
Here you can also select a hard shutdown if the situation demands by following the same menu path.
Even though your question is answered but I still wanted to update you the options to select.

  • HELP ! ! ! - Modem disconnects for no apparent reason and won't reconnect

HELP!!! My modem has been disconnecting for no apparent reason and then when I try to reconnect, it will seem to start the process, and then switch to "Disconnecting . . ." which will then run without an apparent end until I restart the computer. On Tue. and Wed. it dropped the connection promptly at about 6:45. Thursday it dropped at about 8:15. Please help me with this. I don't like having to do a restart in the middle of my work!

Mail accounts have two separate sets of credentials and settings.  One set of credentials for inbound (receiving) mail and also used for accessing any mail you've saved on your ISP mail server — POP or IMAP is used for that — and one set for outbound (sending) email messages out — SMTP is used for that.
Your outgoing email settings are likely incorrect; here is Apple's support document (TS3276)
You can use the Connection Doctor (Mail.app Window > Connection Doctor) to get (and show details) but your description certainly seems that your outbound (SMTP) settings — server name, port, username, password, whether SSL/TLS is disabled (unlikely) or enabled (likely) — don't match what your mail ISP requires.
In Mail.app, the inbound (POP or IMAP) mail account settings are easy to find.  Mail.app Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information.  The sending (SMTP)Nsettings are buried, and you have to select the inbound (POP or IMAP) settings (Mail.app Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information) and then switch the Outbound SMTP Server pop-up setting to its Edit SMTP Server List setting, and you'll get a whole different set of settings shown.  Select the SMTP server for your ISP from the list, and then edit the settings to match the requirements.
I unfortunately can't tell you what the settings need to be, because the required settings can and do differ by ISP.

  • Wifi is randomly disconnecting and won't let me reconnect

After updating my iphone to the latest version of iOS, my wifi disconnects EVERY.SINGLE.NIGHT.  When I wake up in the morning, it's not connected.  Then, when I go to wi-fi, it shows my network, but no others.  When I try to connect to my network, it asks for my password, even though it's stored.  When I enter my password, it asks for my password again.  Here's what I've tried so far:
1.) Forget network and then connect again.  Sometimes it won't let me because it tells me that my password is incorrect, which it isn't.
2.) Turn phone off and on again.  This worked once or twice, but that's it.
3.) Connect to itunes.  Again, this worked a couple of times, but the problem happens again that night.
4.) Reset to factory settings.  I've done this TWICE.  I've wiped out everything and started over.  But that night, it happens again.
5.) I've done everything listed here: iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections - Apple Support
Sometimes these things will work to get my wifi up and running again, but then when I wake up the next morning, I have to start all over.  This is ridiculous.  I had zero issues until I downloaded the recent update and now I have to go through a long, frustrating process every single morning just to get wifi??

Mine is the one at the top... it seems pretty unique, especially when there are no others like it in my range.  Also, I never had an issue with it until just about ten days ago or so.

  • HT1539 Some downloaded movies are in HD and won't play on my iPod Classic.  How can I get the SD version without having to buy another version?

How can I get the SD version of HD movies that I already own and are downloaded on my computer.  These HD movies won't play on my iPod Classic.

Just figured out how to get the SD version of HD movies to play on the iPod Classic.  In the iTunes Store, look at the purchased list and down at the bottom where it lists the Total: # Movies, to the right is a checkbox [ ] Download HD When Available.  If you uncheck the box, it allows you to get the SD version of those HD movies from the cloud.

  • IPod 5thGen-Connects & Syncs w/ iTunes, then disconnects and won't charge!

When I plug my iPod into the USB port on the computer, it starts up, gives me the "do not disconnect" warning, syncs with iTunes, then turns on as normal for a few seconds.
After less than a minute, the computer ignores it. The external device icon disappears from the tray and the iPod shuts off. It does NOT charge. It's as if the computer just pretends it's not there.
It was charging fine last week. I have the latest iPod updater and the latest iTunes.
