Moved files to 'F-drive', but iTunes playlists still looking for 'D-drive'

I've just reconfigured my hard drives and moved my iTunes folder to my F-drive. All of my playlists are still looking for teh old D-drive.
Is teher a way of modifying the playlist files?
Thanks,
Steven Lyall

I've had this problem too. Only way I know is either use smart play lists or rebuild your play lists from scratch
If anybody else has a solution or a program that can resolve this it would be great.

    Hi,
The reason that you are getting the ! is because iTunes is still looking for the music on your external hard drive.
You need to create a new library iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
Now turn on iTunes Match and select add this computer. You will now see all your music in the cloud. When you want to add new music, revert to the original library on your external hard drive.

In Finder's Menu, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to "/volumes". (no quotes)
Volumes is where an alias to your hard drive ("/" at boot) is placed at startup, and where all the "mount points" for auxiliary drives are created for you to access them. This folder is normally hidden from view.
Drives with an extra 1 on the end have a side-effect of mounting a drive with the same name as the system already think exists. Try trashing the duplicates with a 1 or 2 if there are no real files in them, and reboot.
    If it does contain data...

Apple seems to be naming their operating sytems usability based on the respective turd size of the feline in question. Lions are big, very, very, very big.
I had a system that served me well for 2 years until I mistaking bought a new machine which runs mega-turd (Lion). Foolish me, now nothing works properly, its a daily struggle to get anything working smoothly using my NEW mac mini. All my other machines work fine, even the windows machines and my Android tablet see all the network components and can talk to each other.
My Internet service is over 3g which I share to the house using internet sharing via my brand new €800 mac mini running POS Lion, everytime the service is interrupted, Kaboom, the mini resets the DHCP server, but doesn't seem to refresh any of the components so connections drop everywhere.
Its amateur hour at Apple folks.
There are several posts alone relating to internet sharing, I have submitted a bug report relating to the non user controllable DHCP server (which may be at fault), but the response / solution from Apple was lacklustre and ultimately didn't work.
    See this, there are some work around's in there;

  • Moved Music from C to D drive, but iTunes is still on C - Please Help

I moved my music from C to D drive to create more space, but the actual iTunes program is still on C drive and won't pickup the music or my library located on D drive. I changed the advance setting on music folders to D drive in iTunes, but I must be missing something. Please help...so frustrated.

then I deleted the iTunes music folder from C drive.
Are you sure you deleted ONLY the *iTunes music folder*?
I opened iTunes under my programs and it was blank. Am I doing something wrong? Sorry, I'm iTunes challenged.
    So you;
    - quit iTunes
    - moved the music back where it was
    - opened iTunes and consolidated
    - quit iTunes
    - deleted the iTunes music folder on the C: drive
    - then restarted iTunes?

  • Itunes install trashes drivers for DVD drive

Installed iTunes V6 on Packard Bell MIT-RHE-B laptop
iTunes runs OK but driver for DVD drive (NEC ND6650A)is no more (yellow ! in device manager)
Only fix was to restore machine from CD (the drive was OK to boot from from the BIOS)
When restored "OnRec" (a DVD writer program) was uninstalled, the machice rebooted & iTunes reinstalled.
Guess what same problem, the DVD drive driver was again trashed.
Has anyone got any ideas? Please dont say get a new laptop, which belongs to my 19 year old neice.

Yeah, this seems to be a Packard Bell specific problem and yes I do know how to fix it. I am going to copy and paste what I wrote to another Packard Bell user just so I dont have to retype it. I really think this is a Packard Bell issue...
For the most part, what's occurring is one of two things. Either...
    A) an application (such as iTunes, etc.) is installing a driver file (as a .SYS) or replacing a working driver file that is referenced within your registry. For some folks, the replaced driver is still referenced by either an UpperFilterCheck or a LowerFilterCheck, and the device manager is actually seeking out that file that, well... no longer exists. Or, when you try and uninstall the application (iTunes is the frequent transgressor) everything is removed, including the related driver files, but the registry isn't altered... so the device manager continues to try and locate that driver file... which no longer exists.
    or
    B) a virus (or trojan) burrows its way into your file structure, and creates an element of itself disguised as a .SYS file. We've seen this happen before with viral elements disguising themselves as audio or video card driver files, in the efforts of masking themselves from lower-class anti-virus programs (or un-updated ones). In this case, they take on the name of a driver file that the optical drives are "familiar" with, and so, with the intention of being "fast, friendly, and efficient", the optical drives are tapped to utilize this new "driver" file... and it gets referenced in the registry as such.
However, when your anti-virus actually snaps to it, and removes the virus / trojan, and you go off on a virus-killing mission, galavanting through the registry and cleaning the little buggers out in Safe Mode and everything... you might remove the viral elements... but... the reference to them might still remain. The device manager is still looking for that "driver file", and will cause the optical drives to lock up in a Code 39 or Code 41 because of it.
Either way, he thing to do to reclaim your optical drives is located in your registry here:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE1 0318}
You'll want to have that open, and a mini-window of the following:
START -> CONTROL PANEL -> SYSTEM -> Hardware (tab) -> DEVICE MANAGER -> Offending Drive (with yellow tag by it) Right-Mouse-Click and PROPERTIES -> Driver (tab) -> DRIVER DETAILS
Notice that list. It references all the drivers that that particular drive is utilizing. There should be a single .DLL (dynamic link library) file and multiple .SYS files. It's the .SYS files we're focusing on, and they should be located in your C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\ folder stem. If you want to open a new window explorer, and go verify that each of those driver files still exists in that folder stem, you may.
At this point, compare the Driver File Detail list with the Registry Tree Location you're sitting in, and look at the UpperFilterCheck and LowerFilterCheck key values. Your offending key value will NOT be on your Driver File Detail list!!! It might be as small as "PFC" or something else, but that value is referencing to a driver file that no longer exists. Delete that offending key value. Close the registry.
Close the Driver File Details and Drive Properties windows. At this point, to finish this up, you need to Soft Uninstall (Right-mouse-click on the drive, and hit "Uninstall" ) the drive(s), let the Device Manager refresh... then hit ACTION -> Scan For Hardware Changes ...
This should start a new Found New Hardware cycle, and.... poof!... your drives should be back to normal.

Trying to move my iTunes Music and other media from the main drive on my pc to an external hard drive but iTunes is not recognizing the new file location?  Ideas?

    Hello there, Underwriter.
The following Knowledge Base article provides in-depth instructions on how to migrate your content to an external drive:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
Particularly of note for your situation:
    External drive
This option requires more work than Home Sharing, but it creates a backup of your iTunes library on the external drive in addition to moving your content.
    Notes before you start:
You can use most iPods as an external drive.
Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). Because of this, you can't use a Mac-formatted iPod or external drive to move your music to a Windows PC. See iPod: How to determine iPod's hard disk format if you're not sure how your iPod is formatted.
Mac OS X can read Windows-formatted iPods and drives. This means there are many ways to migrate your information from your old Windows-based PC to your new Mac.
Mac OS X: To be sure external drives appear on your desktop, choose Preferences from the Finder menu. Be sure the options for "External disks" and "Hard disks" are enabled.
Part 1: Locating and consolidating the iTunes Media folder
Part 2: Copy iTunes folder from the old computer:
Part 3: Get iTunes ready on your new computer
Part 4: Back up any music that's already on your new computer
Part 5: Copy music to your new computer
Part 6: Add preexisting music that was on the new computer back into the library
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • I've tried moving my iTunes library to an external hard drive but it is still on my local C drive?

    Hi there,
I am working on PC equipment here, not Apple.  I have tried consolidating my my iTunes library and changing the "iTunes Media folder location" to my external hard drive as described on some discussions on this website  and at first it seemed to work.  But when I disconnect my external hard drive (E: drive) and click my iTunes icon on my desktop, iTunes still comes from my local C: drive, so iTunes is still there taking up all my memory space on C:drive.  What I want to do is set up my iTunes to be entirely on my my external E: drive and not on my C:drive at all (it is taking up WAY too much memory on my c:drive).  So here are my questions:
    1.  If I have correctly copied all my iTunes library onto my E:drive - is it just a copy and all the original information is still in C;drive as well?  If so, how do I go about clearing my library in C:drive?
    2.  Do I have to 'unistall' iTunes from my C:drive to get rid of all my memory robbing iTune files.  If so, how can I make sure that all my information has been copied onto my external E:drive before I get rid of all my music?  I don't want to lose everything?
I just want to clear up my local C:drive on my laptop to get my memory back, what can I do?
    Thanks.

Thanks so much for your tip!!  I did that, but it says there's no files in the library.
Originaly in Itunes > preferences>advanced>under folder location I put in new path pointing to the Ex HD.  made a new folder for my son's library "Nick's Itunes Library". (Keep itunes media folder organized is checked).
    Clicked on change.
Then i was prompted ot move the exisiting files over which I did.  Went to File>Library>Organize Library>consolidate files>OK
I did all that.  I closed itunes, went to the external HD to verify all the files were there.  They were.  Went back into itunes on the mac mini HD and deleted the files one at a time.  I realize that this whole thing is not a deal breaker as it is all in iCloud.  And can be downloaded again if necessary.  But I want to know how to do this manually.
I just checked the external HD again. The files are there, Itunes isn't recognizing them is my guess.

  • I recently lost my windows laptop due to a virus. I had backed up all files onto a drive(files only). However no itunes playlists. i have all my playlists on my iphone and pics etc however when im trying to sync to my new computer itunes deletes all data

I recently lost my windows laptop due to a virus. I had backed up all files onto a drive(files only). However no itunes playlists. i have all my playlists on my iphone and pics etc however when im trying to sync to my new computer itunes wants to  deletes all data off of my iphone so i click cancel
i want to update to iOS 5 and still have itunes be able to copy my playlists from my iphone. for free. why does apple provide a recovery from iphone option?

If you have a backup, restore the ENTIRE iTunes folder to the computer.  This restores the library and device association files.  If for some reason you chose to only back up the media and not the entire iTunes folder, then the only option is to let iTunes wipe the drive and re-sync.

What type of troubleshooting were we able to do with you? I want to make sure that we can get some sort of resolution for this problem.
It is quite possible the battery door may get your phone in working order again. I'm not sure if the store has it in stock, but it is available in our warehouse for $14.99 which can be ordered via customer service.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Here adding to the words of “Tim”, a forwarder is a DNS server on a network used to forward DNS queries for external DNS names to DNS servers outside of that network. You can also forward queries according to specific domain names using conditional forwarders.
A DNS server on a network is designated as a forwarder by having the other DNS servers in the network forward the queries they cannot resolve locally to that DNS server. You can refer information regarding forwarders and how to configure from beneath link.
