Movie sync in Logic 8

So, what's goin on here?
I'm scoring to a quicktime movie with a 10 second leader. I set it up so that the movie starts at 1:09:50:00 (ten seconds before start). And my first bar (bar 5 in Logic) is at 1:10:00:00
So I should see the first frame of picture at my first bar, right? Right. Kinda. Sometimes.
When I cue up at my left locator, I see frame 1:10:00:00
Sometimes.
Other times, if I move ahead a bar, then back again, now my left locator is at 1:10:12:20
Next time it's at 1:10:04:10
Same bar number. Different SMPTE number. Jumping by ten or more frames!
Is this a glitch in Logic, Quicktime sync, or am I missing something???????
Aaargh. I have an impossible deadline and this is making it even more impossible.

IPhone movie sync changed in iTunes

Earlier, itunes hung and had to be forced down at activity monitor.
It couldn't see iPhone attached as well.
Earlier I converted short clips of Divx to .m4v / which are Mpeg-4.
Send them to iTunes, then it's needed to covert to iPhone.
That process seemed to go Ok, Sorta,,,, there was a beach ball involved at times.
Gees, if it beach ball's with this machine, what's it like for a single processor machine.
When it was time to sync these clips to iPhone, iPhone did not reply as usual, and iTunes hung solid. But I was able to select all clips wanted at will just after these clips converted.
Maybe I should have selected one at a time, vs 6.
Now do restart complete, make copies of Apple shut down reports and send those off.
Start iTunes. attach iPhone, go to movies.
Now, I can't select anything in the movie list or get the list to even move.
The box is unchecked at Sync Movies.
I don't recall what the status was prior, if the box was checked or not.
But if you now try to check the box, then this warning comes up.
What the heck is the right thing to do here?
I don't know if I want to let it do what it intends to.
It sounds to intense.

All existing songs, movies and Tv shows on the iPhone will be removed and replaced with movies from your iTune library.
The iPhone still has the video's from before, and during the present attempted sync are left in place.

* I gave up waiting for any advice, So I grabbed the evil beast by the horns, and let it do what it warned about.
I was now able to check the MOVIE SYNC box, and now able to scroll through the movie list that was locked out and select the converted to iPhone movies I wanted.
The Sync completed, and it did remove my playlist of tunes.
So I'll have to redo that part.

Ay least the movies of F1 racing converted look great on the iPhone.
I was ready to give up and go back to the set that worked flawless, the 6 month old BB Curve.

As far as I am aware no the only work around is that you create 2 quick time movies import them into one session of imovie then export as a quick time file which yu would then import into Logic hope this helps

IPad music apps to sync with Logic

Is there any way that some of the bought music apps on an iPad or iPhone can sync with Logic X like Rebirth for instance?

In iTunes pull down the iTuness menu and select About iTunes. Post back here what the version number is. Also tell us what version of OS X your computer is running. An iPad requires a minimum of OS X 10.6.8.

Syncing Two Logic Setups together

I'm just about to switch over to a new Mac Pro with Logic 8 but I'm interested to know if anyone has any experience of syncing two Logic 8 computers together ? I still have L8 on my G5dual and have various bit of software that I'd like to continue to use on it ( some not supporting NODEs and others not working in a stand alone mode. Is it possible to set the G5 up as slave and the new pro as master via Midi MTC link and have them both run together side by side ?

Ok, sorry, misunderstood you.
Obviously, a how to guide depends on how you want to rig it up, and what gear you have.
In essence you need:
- Host software (to open and play your instrument plugins)
- A way to receive MIDI to the host from the DAW
- A way to send audio from the host to the DAW
For host software, you can use Mainstage, Rax, or any other AudioUnit host or DAW
For MIDI, you can either use a regular MIDI interface, or software such as MIDIoverLan to send MIDI
over the ethernet cable
- For audio, the easiest way is to use an additional multi0output interface so you can send multiple channels of audio back to the regular DAW
All this is really straightforward to set up, providing you know how to use MID gear and audio interfaces (and I'm assuming you do, being on the Logic Pro forum).
The only slightly tricky one is audio over the network (ie ethernet cable). Wormhole was the main Mac solution, although I always found it temperemental and unreliable. If you get it working, you can send multiple channels over the network, although playing in real time isn't great (because of latency, which is greater than just using audio interfaces).
Post back with how you'd like to do it, and what your concerns are, and we can go into more detail.

Want a particular audio to sync with logic

I have an audio that I want to sync with Logic. Even though I turned it into an apple loop it still wont sync with the click. I'm not sure what else to do to get it to sync, and off course it's always to loop you want the most...lol.

No I didn't use the apple utility to convert it. I just made sure that the length of the audio was correct by doing command-T, and adding it to the Apple loops library, but I think there is something wrong with that audio file, cause within the same loop folder all the others sync, but that one that I want. I don't know how to convert using the apple utility. I always Command-T.

New to Logic Pro X (although I've used Soundtrack Pro a lot in the past). I export XML from FCPX, and then I import the FCPX XML into Logic Pro X. However, the 'movie' to time my sound effects and queue music to etc is mostly frozen. How can I get the movie from FCPX into Logic Pro X in sync, so I can refer to it as a queue for bringing in music etc?
After importing the FCPX XML the 'open movie' (I opened a default master file that I'd shared/exported from FCPX) the movie that played in the popup was slightly out of sync.

Audiuo video sync with Logic Pro

I am working in FCP on a HD project. I export the video (Export as Quicktime Move, Video only, self-contained) and import into Logic. I set the frame rate in Logic to 24, which is what the Sequence in FCP is at. I edit dialog and music succesfully in Logic. Then bounce all tracks to a stereo AIF. I drop this AIF in a new track in the previously mentioned FCP project, muting all old audio tracks.
The problem I'm having is that the audio (the AIF exported from Logic) drifts out of sync towards the end of the FCP sequence.
Any ideas?

Logic may not support 23.98fps (it's nowhere in the user manual). Any of you 24fps gurus correct me if I'm wrong, but 24fps in FCP is technically 23.98fps. Therefore, editing the audio at 24fps, then syncing it with 23.98fps footage will, in time, drift out of sync.

Can I use iCloud to sync my Logic folders between Macs?

So, I'm looking for a way to keep my MacBook and iMac in sync with regards to Logic (Pro 9 - downloaded). I figure I want the following folders on a two-way sync:
1) Application Support/Logic
2) Application Support/GarageBand
3) Audio/Apple Loops
4) Audio/Impluse Responses
5) My Logc folder in my Music folder
Have been looking at iCloud recently but don't know if it'll do this. If not, know of any any decent software for this?

I would like to remove movies synced on my itunes account and transfer them to a new itunes account. Is this possible?

For years I have been using my main Apple ID to sync with itunes on my work laptop. Over the years we've added many i-devices (iphone, 2 ipads, ipod, apple TV) which have been all syncing to the same Apple ID. I have gotten to the point where my work computer doesn't have enough memory to house everything and I wanted to find a resolution to this.
My initial thoughts were to delete my kids' movies from the iTunes account on my computer and only keep them on the various devices. When I try to do so I get a warning that the movie I would like to delete will also delete from all of my devices. I don't want to do this...
So, I just bought a new computer for the house and have created a new Apple ID for it. I would like to transfer all of the movies currently residing on my computer with my current apple ID to the new computer with the new Apple ID. I don't want to have the movies on both Apple IDs, only one so this should not be an infringement on copyright. I've searched on the web and have not found a solution for this.
I must remove the movies from my computer (they were all purchased through iTunes, by the way) but don't want to repurchase them on the new Apple ID as it will cost me hundreds of dollars.
Any ideas on how to transfer the movies are welcomed.

All iTunes purchases are permanently attached to the account used to obtain them and can't be transferred.
I would suggest you relocate your iTunes library onto a drive big enough to hold it all, with room for growth, and obtain a second to act as a backup.

Purchased movie sync-back to iTunes causes Freeze

iTunes consistently freezes while transferring a purchased movie from the Apple TV to the iTunes Library during a sync. iTunes always freezes at the same point in the transfer, and is 100% repeatable. In fact, I have not been able to to use iTunes since making this movie purchase on the Apple TV.

The transfer consistantly fails about 25% completion. Not sure of the exact %, but the bar always stops at the same position.
There is no failure message. iTunes begins to consume 100% CPU utilization, and must be force quit. It is unresponsive.
This was the first purchase made since upgrading to v2.3.
I have restarted both my MacBook, and the Apple TV with no change in results.
I am unable to use iTunes because it freezes (see above) as soon as it finds the Apple TV on the network and begins to transfer the purchased movies to the iTunes Library.

Reason beat tempo not syncing with Logic Tempo???

Made a beat in Reason 5
Exported loop at 137 bpm and saved to external hard drive.
Imported loop into Logic with Logic tempo set at 137 bpm.
Set the metronome on for recording. Pressed record and and beat & metronome are out of sync.
I used beat detection to try find the tempo (said it was 137.1672 or something) yet still the metronome & beat go out of sync...
Any ideas?
I'm going to try saving the beat to the internal harddrive and see if that is the problem.
The external hard drive is USB not firewire.

to bring your reason audio into logic in perfect sync, open reason as a rewire slave to logic and set up a logic aux track input to reason L&R. Set your locators in logic to the loop length and bounce (with "add to audio bin" enabled so its easy to drag it into your song). This locks the 2 clocks together. Which drive your audio is on is irrelevant.

Itunes ipod movie sync problem

I have a bunch of videos on my ipod but just recently all the movies sort themselves in music instead of movies(on my ipod). when i sync a new movie it sorts itself under movies.
my question is: how do i get all my movies to show up under movies.;
and yes i tried changing the media kind to movie. but that dosnt fix the problem.any help is awesome!

I had something similar happen to me, this is just a shot in the dark. I had set my iTunes to play on a remote speaker that was connected via an Airport Express. Any time a video came up, only the audio part played, because a video can only play on the local machine. I think it's the latest "remote audio" solution.
I had to tell iTunes to play from the local machine, then it was fine.
