Movies must be "checked" to show up on AppleTV

I've been trying a lot of things trying to get my Apple TV to recognize the movies and TV Shows in my Library over Home Sharing. It sees the cover art when I hover over Movies, but it says that there are none when I select the Movies option. I just realized the cuplrit: None of them are checked.
I uncheck them so that I can pick and choose which ones to sync to my iPhone. Right now I don't want any on there, so they are all unchecked.
I guess I have to change the way I use iTunes.

You can still uncheck a song in the actual Library and the Apple TV2 will still show it in Home Sharing but it will be differentiated with a light shade of grey. When using playlists, genius mixes, playing an album, etc. the songs that are unchecked will be skipped and not played even though they show up. That's also why you might get an error message when you try to play an album or playlist... in that case none of the songs in the album or playlist are actually checked.
The only way an unchecked song is playable is to actually select that particular song and play it. On the iPhone/iPod/iPad the same thing happens but they just aren't grayed out. If you don't want those songs to be added to your mobile device's storage you just uncheck them in the syncing interface instead of the Library but yes I can see how that doesn't give you as much fine grained control as the other method when storage is limited.
It's different, but I think it works well overall. Mainly because with multiple mobile devices, they might have different needs that unchecking files on the entire Library cannot account for. You might not be able to hold your entire library on your 8GB iPhone but that does not necessarily mean you need to uncheck as many on your 64GB iPad. Handling the checking and unchecking in each individual devices' syncing interface makes more sense in that case.

Movies from iTunes don't show up on Apple TV

Everything else from my library does (music, photos, TV shows), but I can't get the movies from my library to show up on my Apple TV. Here's the kicker...when I go to the movie section in my library (from the Apple TV) all the posters are scrolling on the left, but only one or two of them are selectable from the menu on the right.

They weren't checked in the library. Duh.

A few days ago my TV show and movie displays went whacky-the shows are no longer in alpha order, there are multiple listings of the same show, the pictures are random-including album covers. I downloaded latest version. Any ideas??

I think mine are all still in alphabetical order, but :
* movies I deleted from my library and told "hide this purchase in the cloud" are showing up again. If I try to play them, I get the "cannot find the file in its proper location, would you like to locate it" error message.
* for movies that have "iTunes Extras," the extras show up as a separate item, with another copy of the movie artwork. Most of these I believe I had DELETED the "iTunes Extras" anyway.
* Items are showing up multiple times.
* A few MUSIC ALBUMS are listed in my Movies section.
* Some movies (I believe ones that I deleted off my HD but are still in the cloud) are showing random album covers instead of their proper artwork.
* Just rented a movie, and it didn't show up anywhere in my library. It downloaded properly and completely, was in a suitably labeled folder in my iTunes/Media/Movies section, but didn't show up in any section of the library (or via a library search). Had to manually find it and tell it to open the file using iTunes.
Running the latest version, even checked for updates. No other changes made lately since the last round of apple software updates. This was wonky before the latest small update to iTunes - now it's even wonkier. And it is very, VERY effing annoying.

Previously Purchased Movie on iTunes No Longer Showing Up Under Purchased Items

I purchased a movie from iTunes in November 2012 (Coldplay: Live 2012) and it wasn't showing up on my AppleTV Purchased movies section (wanting to use the iTunes Extra feature on recent AppleTV 6.2 update). I've checked other threads and it was suggested to check my account for Hidden Purchases. The movie I purchased does not show up under Hidden Purchases.
I then checked Purchased items from the main iTunes page, and I don't even see the movie listed there, even though I have a record of the purchase through my Purchase History under My Account.
Any suggestions on how to get this to show up under my Purchased items on iTunes or AppleTV?

I am having similar problems buying movies. The rights issue occurs even if iTunes change or reduces the price of a movie. I now have to check my saved library of past purchases to confirm I do not already have the movie to avoid buying it again.The latest occurrence was fifth element.
It would be really useful if apple would allow you to download a full copy of your past purchases as it is no longer possible to rely on the iTunes store to match your own downloaded content library and the current licenses it holds. This also plays havoc with genius recommendations for purchases.
It would be nice if apple could buy Time/Warner or another media giant so we could break this monopoly of selling the same content over and over again by simply changing the format or metadata of a product.

"movie must be rendered before it can be encoded"

Hey all...
I'm trying to export to mpeg2 or otherwise to Quicktime so I can burn a dvd.
Now with the first I get the message that "this movie must be rendered before it can be encoded"
in QT conversion with mpeg2 selected. There are no red lines indicating a rendering need.
I didn't have this problem when I first exported but when I added a mp3 file it started
acting this way.
Can somebody please let me know what the heck i'm now doing wrong?

Red is only one type of render set. There are many others. Make sure full is checked on in Render All and then press Opt-R.
It would be good to know what versions of the software, QuickTime and OS you're using. MPEG-2 export is no longer available in FCP.
Compressed audio like MP3 should not be used in Final Cut.

New movies do not show up in appletv

Hi all,
I have an appletv1, always worked great. Buts ince today new movies I add to my itunes will not show up on appletv. It does show the movies that were already there, but not new ones I add - even though they are the right format and I can see and play them in itunes on my imac no problem.
The only change I had to make was to the network connection; we bought a new wireless router as the old one broke down. That's the only change that could cause it but as said movies that were already in itunes still show up, it's just new ones I add that the apple tv doesn't see, even after resetting and so on. Anyone got a solution? thanks!

Aghh, the reason for suggesting the sync as a diagnostic step was to try to establish what else if anything wasn't working.
I'm thinking that either you paired your library incorrectly when you set up your new iMac or an error has occured that has turned off syncing for you. To revert to a syncing library, disconnect from the Apple TV (Settings/Computers/Your_Library) and reconnect again (Settings/Computers/Connect_to_iTunes) - You will need to re-sync previously synced content.
Not sure if this will resolve all your problems, but it's a start, I'd see how things go when (if) you are able to do this.

A movie rented on an iPhone can only be viewed on an iPhone. If you want to view on TV you need to rent directly on ATV or via computer (and stream using home-sharing)

I tried backup & restore without success. I have also found the .psess files and copied them to the catalog in the new computer but when the sides shows are opened none of the images or music is there. Only the text that I entered shows. I have even tried to replicate the file paths from the XP computer to the new computer to see if that will help.

UPDATE: By a stroke of luck I happened to find a catalog link (a PSE8D file) in the 'My Catalog' file where the imported data was stored. When I clicked on it to investigate what is was 'magically' all of my transferred projects appeared in Organizer. Upon further investigation I found that the projects transferred from my XP computer were stored in a hidden catalog that had to be accessed through the Custom Location option in Catalog Manager (accessed by clicking File then Catalog then Custom Location). No Windows or Elements search revealed this fact. I am appreciative that I just got lucky. The Adode/Photoshop company was absolutely of no help. If fact to me their structure is designed to avoid contact with their customers unless you're buying a new product. Their products have many good features (even though user unfriendly) and it's a shame they don't value their customers more once the sale is completed.
Bottom line: All of the projects (sideshows) have been recovered and work in my new Windows 7 computer. I hope my experience helps others.

After upgrading to 4.0 my navigation bar no longer appears, it is checked as show in the menu but it doesn't. I downgraded and it still is missing.

A few things to try:
1-Repair permissions and restart your computer.
2-Zap the PRAM
3-Use Software Update/App Store to update your OS to OS 10.10.3. Also, update everything SU/AS has to offer for your computer. When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

All of my library plays on my MAC and Apple TV, but some of the newer shows and movies on my IPAD 2 show "cannot open content not authorized" . If I download them directly to my IPAD they will play. iPad and MAC are all up to date. I have restarted the IPAD 2 and MAC multiple times.

I have the opposite issue. I play my tv shows and movies on itunes off my computer but all I get is the audio. The picture shows up in flashes every couple of times but does not stay on. I have the most recent Itunes (7.6.1)available and am running Windows Vista. Any help available?

We are building an ICF connetor, and need to send the user credential and timestamp using WS-Security. We have created a project in JDeveloper. And after deployed it and tested in OIM EM console, we got the error message: oracle.sysman.emSDK.webservices.wsdlapi.SoapTestException: Client received SOAP Fault from server : Must Understand check failed for headers.
The options we have tried is adding a ws-security policy in composite.xml and adding username and password for binding properties and the protocol used is SOAP 1.2.
