Movies on itunes will not load or load very slowly and freeze on my apple tv. both the computer and apple tv are wired connections on my home network. Checked the network speed and it is between 0 and 1 ms response. This problem just started last week. Only new software introduced recently was update to Norton 360.

I know very little about windows but security software is notorious for causing the type of problem you have, you may want to contact Symentec and ask them which settings you need to change.

It seemed to start a few weeks ago or maybe a month or so. after an apple update . i cant say which.
I went to the adobe site and it id'd my 10.8.2 and said my installed player was the most current version. 10.602 i think

The imac is five years old, I have updated it to the latest and greatest as offfered by apple. I had one gig of ram, ( dont laugh), i upgraded to two !
I am happy I got five trouble free years out of it.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

What do you mean by 'will not let me download' ? Is the buy/download button greyed out ? Are you getting any error messages ?

ITunes will not open on my mini iPad and then crashes

I have a mini iPad that I bought a year ago and have not had any problems till today, my iTunes will not open and then it crashes, all my other apps work exept for itunes and the music app, can someone help in this matter.

Try closing the iTunes store and Music app via the iPad's multitasking bar and see if they work when you re-open them : double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the iTunes and Music app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close them (you could also close other apps as they might be draining the battery), and click the home button to close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then you could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Just get audio and Grey and white grid. Controls are there but invisible. Why?

I spoke to Apple Care today and they told me to reset the VIdeo Card preferences by re-starting the mini whilst holding down command/Alt/P/R until a second start tone sounded. It seemed to sort out my problem.
But the real reason why it worked was that I had plugged in a keyboard and was not controling the Mini using Screen sharing (via Macbook Air) as I normally do. As soon as I went back to screen sharing the movie would not play again.
So if you are playing movies on a mini don't control using screen sharing.

I rented a move on iTunes and in the middle of the movie I paused it and when I preset play the movie was still not playing? I runing the latest version of iTunes.

Do the movies move but not play? Or do they not move? If you can post more details, including your model of iPhone and the OS version it's running and the version of iTunes you have, perhaps someone here can help you sort out the problem.

Error reads as follows:
Coult not open key:
HkeyLOCALMACHINES\software\classes\QuicktimePlayerLib.QuicktimePlayerApp\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
I ran regedit and found that this Hkey does not exist in the registry.
I just bought this Nano. Why won't Apple help me with the install. At this point I feel like taking this piece of junk back to the store and buying a piece of hardware that is not dependent on a piece of software that cannot even be installed.

Try the following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

I too have only recently encountered this problem. I have been able to burn disks before but it keeps making all these weird sounds. It might be a hardware problem but the fact that everything else that uses a disk works I doubt it.

Movies in iTunes will not play

I've got a load of movies I've put into itunes that play perfectly well - all h264 videos. If I go to front row and try to play them, I'll get the spinning gear for a split second and nothing. It won't play them or any other videos in iTunes. However, it is playing video podcasts ok and if I drag one of the unplayable videos into my movies folder, it can play it!
Any ideas?

Are you going through the "Music" option (that goes through iTunes) or the "Videos" option in Front Row? You might see if they'll play through the "Videos" option.

My itune movies always played full screen when I selected full screen option.
For some reason- today it does not.
When I select the Full screen option - the display goes into Full screen mode, but the video image is small- in the center of the screen. (?)
I'm not sure what has happened. I have not changed any settings. I did install some updates.

I'm having just the reverse effect. I want to see my iTunes movies in the smaller size. It automatically opens in full screen and when I choose the arrows to make it smaller, it stops playing. Let me know if you get any info.

Rented movies on iTunes will not sync to AppleTV

When I try to transfer a rented movie to the AppleTv I get an error msg: "movie" was not copied to the Apple TV because it cannot be played on this Apple TV" All other files; music, pictures, TV shows, owned movies transfer without any problems?

just to confirm, is this a rental that was rented in itunes on your computer? or rented on the appletv?
reason i ask is that you said "when viewing the appletv in itunes".
rented movies made on the appletv cannot be moved anywhere. they are locked to the appletv.
only movies rented in itunes can be moved to other devices.
basic things to try first.
reboot the appletv
restart itunes PC/mac
make sure the appletv can access the internet.
