Moving a Folder from explorer to Bridge

When I move a local folder from within explorer to Bridge, the checkinhandler is triggered. However, during that operation when I call identity.getParentId(), this returns null. I think this comes from the fact that I'me adding a new classification. Is there a way to found out which folder I'me adding, so that i can add this as a classification?
For the record, this doesn't occure when I move a folder in explorer, because than the createDirectoryHandler is called.

Hi Nathanvdk,
Let me make it clear.
In Adobe Drive 3, RemoteAssetIdentity provide getParentId methond to retrieve parent id, and Adobe Drive will try its best to provide parent id to connector handler. But sometimes, Adobe Drive can't get parent id info, such as your case -- move a local folder from within explorer to Bridge. When move a local folder(for ease of description, let give a name 'folderX', and assume that there is a file callde 'fileA' in that folder) from explorer to Bridge, CheckinHandler will be invoked. If you debug it, you will find the passed in parameter remoteAssetIdentity is about 'fileA', not about 'folderX'. But at that time, Adobe Drive don't know 'folderX' because it has not created in remote server yet. Therefore, the parent id in remoteAssetIdentity of 'fileA' is null. If you drag a file to bridge or check in a file, you will find the parent id is not null.
Hi hverlinde,
For RemoteVersionIdentity, Adobe Drive doesn't provide getParentId info to connector. Because version's parent may be different from asset's parent. It depends on the server implementation. If you have typical use scenario, could you share it with me? My understanding is that providing getAssetParentId will be useful for PromoteVersionHandler.
Thanks,
Hui

  • Yesterday I moved a folder from my portable drive to the desktop of a computer called B3. The folder

Yesterday I moved a folder from my portable drive to the desktop of a computer called B3. The folder contained four tiff files and 16 PSD image files that I had been Photoshoping for two weeks. I dragged the folder into bridge for a quick look. Most of the fliles had been processed in Lightroom 4. When I opened the first image in PS all of the layers were gone and the image looked like it had never had anything done to it. All of the PSD images opened with the same result, no layers, weeks of work gone. I took the portable drive and plugged it into my labtop. All of the layers were there. What happened? there was no older version of the file on the drive.

Actually that would not have had any impact. When I processed the files in Lightroom there was a software glitch and they would not open as PSD 's inPs they appeared as raw files in PS. Yes I know how to set preferences. Ok to get around that one I exported my files as PSD into a folder. After I always opened them from the folder so I don't see how the XMP files could be an issue. Also remember for two weeks I had been working using the same procedure with out any trouble@bdentonphoto: RT @Patrick_Baz: @patrickwitty: Brutal, important frontpage of the @guardiannews, heartbreaking photo from the massacre in Houla, #Syria http://t.co/7411qhUf

  • Moving a folder from one local root folder to another

I've used Dreamweaver CS4 to build my website, and I've become basically familiar with the way it works. Now I'm just starting to build a second site - and I've run into a baffling problem.
I've defined the new site in the normal way, and created the local root folder.
I've got a folder full of image files that is currently sitting in the local root folder of my old site - I'd like to put this into the local root folder of my new site.
This may seem silly, but I can't find a way to move that images folder from one local root folder to the other. I thought it would be a simple drag & drop move, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. I've moved the images folder to the desktop, from where it should be easy to drag it over the new local root folder icon in Dreamweaver and drop it in - but it doesn't work.
Am I missing something obvious here...?

You should be able to access your entire computer directory structure through the Files Panel in Dreamweaver.
Click the drop down arrow next to the named site (the open site) at the top of the Files Panel and navigate up into the rest of your computer. You can then Ctrl-C (copy) the folder, re-select the name of your site (the green folders at the bottom of the directories, not in the computer structure), and Ctrl-V (paste) the folder where you want it. Contents will of course come with it.
You could (alternately) just copy and paste it working within the computer's directory structure. Paste it into the new root folder and, in Dreamweaver, refresh the view in the Files Panel. The folder should show up fine.
Notice that I have not been drag and dropping, though that should work with the last-mentioned technique.

  • Moved iTunes folder from C: to D: now it wont recognize my library

Can anyone help me fix what I've messed up?
I moved my itunes folder from my loaded C: drive to D: drive (i'm partitioned with C: and D:) with a simple "move" command. Then I tried to use the ipod and itunes as normal ....wrong...it tells me that my ipod is linked to a different library and my option is to sync and lose my music on the ipod or not sync.
Well when I open itunes none of my music shows up in the itunes library that comes up, no custom play lists etc...it's like it's back to default.
So I moved it back to C: thinking that there was something there that was keeping C: as "the working itune drive" and it's still telling me the same thing.
In my itunes folder I have sub-folders that show
    (album artwork)
    (ipod games)
    (ipod games library.itl)
(itunes music) ...shows all of my music, but does not link with the library
    (itunes library.itl)
    (itunes music library.xml)
I had no problems until I moved the itunes folder over to D: inorder to open space on my C:
I'm a basic "search the web, word processing, load my songs on to my ipod" computer user I figured itunes on my computer was good anywhere...guess not.
    Thanks for your help.

When you moved your iTunes folder to a new drive, you need to do a shift key start to tell iTunes to use the library in the new location.
If you don't it will create a blank library in the delfault loaction on the c: drive.
Hold down the shift key, start iTunes, keep holding down the shift key until you are prompted to choose a library. Navigate to you iTunes folder on the d: drive and choose iTunes Library.itl.
    Did you do that?

  • Moving inetpub folder from C: to D: drive in IIS8

Its bit confusing in first place whether you should move the inetpub folder from C: to D: drive as there are conflicting posts on it.

Secondly, how to move it also seems to be confusing.

Do i need to perform the steps in the table or the script will take care of it. Has anyone used this script before. Also the table does not seem to appear properly.

  • Moving a folder from internal hard drive to an expansion drive

I have a MacBook Pro 13" with OS X v. 10.7.2. Usually, it's easy for me to drag a file or folder from one directory and drop it into another.  However, I've come across a problem that I can't seem to solve and I'm sure the solution is very simple.  I can't seem to move a folder from my Documents directory to an expansion drive.  I've tried dragging the folder in the Finder to the expansion drive icon but nothing happens.  Any ideas?

If the external drive is in NTFS format (which is how most new drives are shipped), the Mac can't write to it. Reformat it with Disk Utility, putting it into Mac OS Extended format.

  • Moving a folder from iPhoto

I want to know how to permanently move a folder from iPhoto to my Time Machine, while retaining easy access to that folder. I'm looking to free up some space on my hard drive. I have a MacBook Pro with 4 GB RAM and 320 GB hard drive and we're running to Yosemite operating system.

    Hi dhowiejr,
It sounds like you want to manually backup your folder.
OS X Yosemite: Alternatives for backing up your Mac
    Other disks
If you have a second hard disk, you can back up files by copying them from one disk to the other. To save space, compress an item before copying it to a backup disk by selecting it, then choosing File > Compress.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Moving a Folder from the iTunes Folder to My Own File Structure

I'm trying to move a folder from the default iTunes folder to a folder on another drive where I am managing the file structure. This allows me to file music as I would like to on the disk an makes things much easier to find when I need to.
Recently I've noticed that when I do this I lose some of the song meta data such as the image and rating which is kind of annoying. Is there any way to do this and not lose meta data?

If the external drive is in NTFS format (which is how most new drives are shipped), the Mac can't write to it. Reformat it with Disk Utility, putting it into Mac OS Extended format.

  • Moving AddressBook folder from Panther to Tiger?

I did an erase install of Tiger to my powerbook g4, but kept a backup of the Panther files on CD. (I had to select erase and reformat, as my daughter dropped the laptop, corrupting some of the files on the hardrive.)
I would like to copy the old Address Book in Panther (i.e. Home > Library > Application Support > AddressBook) to Tiger, but it appears that the files are not compatible between the two OS X releases? When I tried this, the application hung. Unfortunately I did not move my addresses to a vCard or do a backup, so all I have is the old data files. Any advice on how to move this data from Panther to Tiger? The only thing I can think of at this point is to find someone with Panther, and hopefully they will let me use their machine to get a proper backup of my address book from the Panther version of Mail.
By the way, although most files were not corrupted when the laptop was dropped, some were, so maybe I am dealing with a currupted AddressBook folder.
Note: I am dual posting under both 10.3 and 10.4 forums...
    Thanks in advance, John

Place the /Applications Support/AddressBook/ folder in the new /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder replacing the default one created by Tiger. Now launch the Tiger Address Book application. It should prompt you about importing the old data.

  • Moving a folder from Mac Pro to new MacBook Pro

I have a new 15" retina MBP and an older MacPro desktop, both for work.  I like to move my Mail folder between the machines - to the MBP when out of office then back to the Mac Pro when I return.  I was able to do this easily via Firewire with my older MBP.  When I connect via the Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter, I can see each machine but that's as far as it goes.  I cannot connect and therefore cannot transfer the folder.  I resorted to using Target Disk Mode, but I don't want to do this every time.  MBP is running Mountain Lion and Mac Pro is running Lion.  Any thoughts?

I've got a time machine backup on an internal HDD that also contains a partition for bootcamp and a partition for scratch use with photoshop cs3. I also have an external HDD for use with superduper. It has one partition for my startup disk and another for my home folder.
However, I don't know if the time machine option will work for me as it resides on an internal 3.5 HDD, unless I can somehow connect the macbook to the mac pro via ethernet and copy the time machine data that way.

  • Moving a folder from external to internal hard disk

I want to move a music folder on my external hard drive to the internal one. I had previously disabled the option of copying files to iTunes library so this folder is not a part of iTunes Music folder Music/iTunes/iTunes Music but is is added to the library. If this would have been a folder on internal one then seems like itunes synchronizes it if I move the folder at some other location but here in this case if I move the files then there is no synchronization and itunes asks me to locate it. I don't seem to find any solution online. Please help

What I'd do is make a parent folder on the external for all of your images inside of LR. Then copy all the images, including the parent to the new location. Copy the catalog to its new location too. Then open the copied catalog, at which time all your folders will be red. Then locate just the parent folder within LR and all the rest will be found. Then delete the parent and promote the rest.

  • How do I delete a folder that I moved to Trash from my external backup drive when a virus was detected? Trash will not delete the folder.

I have tried unsuccessfully to remove a folder from Trash. My anti-virus program (Sophos) detected a virus which had to  be manually removed. I tried (unsuccessfully) to find and remove the infected file. I moved the Folder from my external backup drive and placed it in Trash. Now I cannot get Trash to delete the folder. It asks me if I wish to delete "unlocked" or "all" items. Either selection does not delete the folder. I went to change the permissions to "read & write" and unlocked the folder, but it is still there. I tried to "move" the folder from Trash back to the external harddrive but it seems I can only "copy" it and not "move" it. I am afraid that by copying it, I will not have the folder in two locations (Trash & External HD).
Would appreciate any suggestions and guidance on this. I hope that I have explained the problem clearly!
    Thank you!

Before deleting it we should know more about this folder and its contents.
If it is invected and is using other apps, or other apps are still using it, then it cannot be deleted in the normal manner.
You might contact Sophos and ask them about it.
If you are using TM or have a backup of your system before the infection occurred, then you can delete the item(s) in Trash, but there is the possiblity of system corruption and the need for a reinstall, if any of these files are necessary for the OS to work properly, even though they are infected.
Sophos may not have been able to remove the infection from inside a file which is why they suggested manual removal.
You might consider downloading and running ClamXav first and see if it can't do better than Sophos.
All that being said, you can always remove the contents of the Trash using the terminal. Usually as administrator, or in some cases as root (su). Unless you are very familiar with the terminal I do not suggest doing this without some study.

  • Entire folder was DELETED by Lion when moving it out from dock

I had a folder containing some 300 GB movies and music.
Moved folder in to dock and then decided to move it back on to the desktop.  And then it was GONE. Deleted.
Checked the hard drive and I had plenty of space again!
No questions, nothing in trash, no trace wahtsovever of the files - just deleted by OS X Lion.
Anyone else experienced anything like this?!

    Hi AmbiP,
that sure does sound scary ...
Can you please elaborate a bit on what you did exactly?
I am not sure I understand fully what you did.
I had a folder containing some 300 GB movies and music.
Moved folder in to dock and then decided to move it back on to the desktop.
If you move folder to the dock then the dock only holds a reference to the folder, not the data. You can't move something back from the Dock to the desktop, you can only remove the refrence for quick access to the folder. So moving a folder from the dock to the desktop  will not restore your folder and the data to the desktop, it will only remove the reference.
Where did your folder reside before you put the reference to the Dock? It should still be exactly there.

  • Drag/Drop "Numbered Stills" from Explorer into Project?

I only get individual stills when I drag a folder from Explorer into a project.  Is there a way to tell Premiere to import as numbered stills (ie a sequence) when using drag/drop?
    Thanks.

Yes, there is an Adobe way that is MUCH better, but it is not exactly a Premiere Pro way
    1) Using Adobe Bridge, put all of your stills in the order that you want them to show in Premiere
    2) Select all photos and do a right-click "batch rename" (set to make a copy of all photos with 001 002 003 numbers in front of each file name in an empty sub-directory)
    3) Import the whole "folder" (that you just "batch rename" copied the photos into) using the "import folder" option
Hope this works for your "workflow" as well as it does for mine.
    Regards,
    Jim

  • So I made a mistake (moved a folder)

So I made a mistake. I moved a folder from my HD to my Shared folder by drag and drop. But when I looked in the target Shared folder, only the files in the root directory was copied. The subfolders also appeared there, but they were EMTPY! Where are my files? They aren't in the original HD folder (because I moved it). They aren't in the target folder. Getting desperate for help (sorry, I just bought my first Mac and brought up with PC so possibly a simple stupid question)!

Click on the Desktop, CMD+F, enter iTunes Music, click on File name, and see what pops up. If nothing, launch the Terminal app in /Applications/Utilities/, type in this command, and hit the return key:
    *locate "iTunes Music"*
If nothing pops up, rebuild the locate database, using this command:
    *sudo /usr/libexec/locate.updatedb*
copy/paste it into the Terminal window, hit the return key, at the Password: prompt, carefully type in your admin password because nothing shows up on the screen, and hit the enter key. This will take 15-30 minutes. After you get the prompt back, run the above locate command again.
