Moving from trial to full version.  Serial number not valid?

Trial version will not accept new serial number for authorization.
I bought the full version today from the Apple store (for $99 -- I guess I spent too much due to it being $79 on the App Store).  Apple sent me the new serial number, but Aperture won't accept with the trial version serial number or the new serial number.  What is going on?

While you're at it, you should see if they will just refund your money then you could go to the App Store and get it for $80.
If the above number doesn't work the web page Contact Apple might help.

  • Moving from trial to full version - any precautions I should take?

My Aperture 3 trial is almost up and I've decided I'd like to purchase the full version from the Mac App Store. Because this involves deleting the application, and installing a newly downloaded copy from the store (instead of just entering a serial number to authorize the software), is there anything I need to do as a precaution beyond backing up my library to a vault?
    Some notes about my set-up:
    1. My images are referenced, and I have a vault of my library backed up to the same drive as my masters (which are also backed up to yet another external drive).
    2. I have imported about 6,000 of my images so far and have performed a lot of keywording, organizing and rating, and have made a lot of adjustments.
    3. My wife has her Facebook account set-up and a number of albums created which have comments from her friends, etc.
    4. I am running OS X Lion 10.7.2 and Aperture 3.2
My biggest concern is accidentally overwriting or erasing information when installing a new copy of Aperture. Should I back up my preference files or anything like that? Or will the new version look to the preference file already created by the trial? Will my presets and ratings get wiped, or are they saved in the library? How about the Facebook data? Will it stick with my library, or will the full version need to be authorized again? I'd hate for her to lose all of the comments and such on the albums she's put together. Should I get her to de-authorize Aperture before reinstalling, or will this cause more problems?
    Thanks in advance!
    Doug

The one thing I can;t comment on is the Facebook aspect of this.  Aside from that:
You seem to have it pretty well covered. In addition to the vault I would make a straight copy of the Aperture library. The trial you are running is 3.1.3 correct? In that case the first thing that will happen when you get 3.2 running is it will want to upgrade the library. The vault too will need to be upgraded. These go OK most times but if something did get messed up, you might have problems recovering from the vault.
You shouldn't need to worry about overwriting the library. You wiil be  deleting the application from the Apllications folder. No need to do anything with the library. When you get the new version in and open it it will see the location of the library from your preferences file and open it. Should this not happen for some reason Aperture would make a new empty library but under no (normal) conditions would it overwrite a library. If this did happen for some reason you would just need to point Aperture to your original library.
Like I said I'm not really sure what will happen with Facebook. The whole Aperture web sharing thing is a bit of a kludge (imo).
So you should be fine with Aperture and your libraries, Facebook, well...
    good luck.

I RECIVED AN EMAIL FROM ADOBE AS  :  As good will gesture, we can help you with the upgrade for PSE 13. Compare with on-line stores. The full version is often cheaper than Adobe's upgrade price.
See this example from Amazon, but check pricing in your own region.

  • Serial number not valid when upgrading from LR4 to LR5 [was:leewayphotography]

  • Logic 9 Serial Number Not Valid

I recently backed up my computer and did a complete OS reinstall (starting from stratch and not using the old image due to old corruption files). I then decided to manualy copy over Logic Pro 9 files from the backup drive to the new image. I went to open Logic and it asked for my serial number. I typed it in and then it decided to crash on me. Well no big deal, I probably didn't copy all the files. So I deleted as many files as I could find and then proceded to reinstalling Logic 9 from my Logic Studio disc set. Entered name and the serial key during the beggining of the install and it says "Serial Number Not Valid" and asked me to type it again and gives me the same message. After 3 failed attempts, it closes the installation program. I have tripple checked my spelling in the key and have checked forums regarding this problem. I have already attempted to move the ID files in Library/Application Support/ProApps to the desktop; no change. Any input would be nice. Thank you.
I am running Mavericks 10.9.1 on a MacBook pro 2012.

Was your copy of Logic Studio 2.0 (the one containing LP9) a full version  or an upgrade version?
If it was an upgrade version you need to enter your original LP8 serial first.... and then it will ask for your LP9 upgrade serial...
If it was the full version, contact Apple directly and ask for their assistance.
    http://www.apple.com/contact/
or use the online webpage to obtain a replacement serial number...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1861?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Note: Once you have successfully installed LP9.. you must upgrade LP9 to the latest version 9.1.8 before you run it, via software updates... as you are running Mavericks...

  • Serial Number Not Valid 2nd Install CS5.5

I'm trying to download CS5.5 Design Standard Student and Teacher on my Windows 8.1 machine and receive a "Serial Number Not Valid" notification. I have already downloaded the product on my Macbook Pro a few years ago, but was under the impression I was allowed to download it on 2 computers. Anything I can do???

the serial number for a mac installation is not the same as for a windows installation.  and, in fact, cs5.5 is not a dual  platform product so you cannot install it on a windows machine unless you have a windows license/serial number.
you could upgrade to creative cloud.  the subscription apps (cs6, cc and cc 2014) are all dual platform.

  • Converting PM from trial to full version

I had asked in another thread whether I could download and install the current tryout version of PM, and then use my old serial number from a PM 7 upgrade I had registered with Adobe back in 2002.  I was under the impression this process would work for InDesign, or at least since ID required "activation," but PM dates to another era and my memory is not that good.  No one answered, so I went ahead and installed the Tryout, and can now report that the Tryout version does not allow conversion to the full version by adding a valid serial number; in fact, the Tryout installs itself in a special Tryout folder, suggesting that it expects to be un-installed before the full version is installed.
I kept searching through old stuff  and eventually turned up my original PM 7.0 CD -- an upgrade -- but not the carton it came in.  I uninstalled the tryout, installed PM7.0, and found that because it was an upgrade I needed a valid serial number from an earlier PM.  The only serial number on Adobe's cardboard sleeve for my PM6.5 Plus was for the bundled Photoshop, but having registered my purchase with Adobe I could still retrieve the number, a string of 15 digits.  PM 7 upgrade rejected this, as well as the 15-digit serial number for PM5 (not to mention the PS serial number from my PM6.5 CD).
I had done a cautious un-install of the tryout: when the un-install process said there were elements that might possibly be shared with other programs, I let it preserve those lest I disrupt the CS2 software I still use occasionally.  After my valid serial numbers were rejected, I threw caution to the wind and re-installed the tryout so I could zap it completely.  Not surprisingly, the re-installed tryout found traces of its previous incarnation, reporting I had just 7 days remaining in my 30-day trial (I thought I'd started the day with 8).  I un-installed again, this time telling it to take everything.  I then tried installing my PM7 upgrade again, and this time it accepted  the serial number from my PM5 carton: the same 15 digits preserved in Adobe's registration, but this time broken up by hyphens, NN-NNNN-NNNNNNNNN.  I think I had tried the hyphen-less version first, and thus that the hyphens made the difference, though they key may have been the complete un-install.
A quick test of suggests IDCS2 is happy as ever on my XP machine.  Perhaps I should add that I have carefully avoided upgrading the OS to XP SP3, dimly recalling that SP3 can complicate ID's ability to read PM files.  For what its worth, I turned up the box for my Mac PM6 which shows the serial number as a single string of 14 alphanumerics, two of which are letters.

InDesign CS2 will not be able to open PM files on XP SP3, Vista, or Win 7.

  • Move from trial to full version of Aperture 3

I have been using the trial version of Aperture 3 for a week now, and I am really impressed with it. I would like to buy the App version from the App Store. What is the best way of doing this? Do I have to remove the trial version and then purchase and install the App version, or do I just purchase and install the App version and it will overwrite the trial version? I have read a few threads where someone went from the trial to the full version and because of the way then did it, it could not accept updates because it was still being seen as a trial version. I am still new to Apple and not comfortable with the way Macs handle software installation and removal. Any help will be appreciated.

We're in a kind of limbo with Aperture right now because of the transition to the Mac App Store. Logically that BUY link should take you to the MAS and let you buy from there without having anything else to do. But I don't know if they've changed it to do that — you'll have to try and see for yourself.
What may happen is that it'll work like it did before and you'll instead get taken to the Apple Store and be offered the $199 full version or $99 upgrade. Which is a little odd and — I have to agree with you — very un-Apple.
Basically there are two versions of Aperture 3 floating around: the $79 MAS version and the $199 Apple Store version. Both are identical in function but the $199 version still works with a serial number. You also get a DVD but frankly I haven't used an Aperture DVD since version 1.5 (I've been downloading the trial and purchasing a serial number upgrade since then).
    Confusing? Yeah, it is.
But unless you want to pay more for the same thing, I'd go with the $79 MAS version. You might not even have to delete the trial but it's just a precaution in light of certain stories on this forum. Deleting the trial application won't affect anything you've done with Aperture 3 until now so don't worry, it's really not a big deal.

  • Installer tells me serial number not valid photoshop elements 13

i'm trying to install photoshop elements 13 multiple languages mac that i downloaded tonight online. i purchased photoshop elements 13 and premiere elements 13 as a package a few days ago on line but it appears that what I purchased was for windows and not for mac. I have a serial number for each (photoshop elements 13 and premiere elements 13). The installer is not accepting the serial number as valid for some reason. I'm guessing that the problem was caused by the fact that what I bought was english windows and what i downloaded as mac -- which is what i need. help me please!

    Hi there
Where did you get the number from?  Do you have a serial number, redemption code or product code?
Please try the following doc to see if this helps: Find your serial number quickly

  • Audition CS 5.5 says "serial number not valid" when starting, but all other products work?!

    Hi,
I use CS 5.5 Production Premium for quite some time now.
Today I tried to start Audition for the first time.
It gives me a choice to continue to use as a trial or provide the serial number.
When I enter my regular CS 5.5 s/n, it says "the serial number is not valid for this product".
    All other products work.
What do I have to do to make Audition start?
    Thanks,
    Patrick

  • HT1349 APPLE CARE SERIAL NUMBER NOT VALID

Alright so I know this is elsewhere in the forum but I recently purchased AppleCare for my iPhone 4 (I live in Canada) and I went to register the product and it's telling me the serial number is not valid.
I tried calling Apple but I keep getting in this enraging speak your problem loop that doesn't seem to pick up "AppleCare" as an item that I'm having issues with. What am I supposed to be saying to the prompter to get me to a service representative. It wants the serial number for my iPhone. That's not the issue, it's my APPLECARE that has the wrong serial number.
I have zero patience for teleprompts so I'd like someone to walk me through how to get to a REAL human being.
I just want to register my product that I paid 90 bucks for. And have it actually work. I'm not asking much
Any help would very much be appreciated!!!!

Thanks, I ended up using the "EXPRESS LANE", which I definitely recommend to anyone that dislikes speaking to a computer as much as I do.
    https://expresslane.apple.com/
Also, to anyone else that may be having this issue: The serial number you're inputting is for your PHONE, not the one on the applecare box.
If any apple people are reading this, the form should read "DEVICE serial number", not everyone knows what hardware means (though in hindsight that makes sense but why not call it what it is and save potential client frustration, and save yourself a phone call). Or even make a drop-down list to select the device you're registering would be helpful. Then have the registration applet show "AppleCare Registration #" and "[device name: e.g. iPhone] serial #".

  • I just purchased the upgrade from trial to full version. It does not work. It asks for my orginal serial key and when I paste in the trial key it says invalid??

Downloaded trial and then purchased the activate the full version option. The activation keys don't work. It wants an 'original' key. When I use the trial key it rejects it as invalid! Have I just been robbed of 75 quid?

    lanceblack,
You know, I had seen your similar post in other forum with same issue. This itself is confusing for other participants including myself to keep track of forum discussion regarding same issue.
It would be nice if you keep your issue in proper forum in one place, less confusion for others.
Corky02 said better than I did yesterday. I am not quite sure why or what impresssion that you'd easily upgrade from try-out app into full-license. For many people are aware that what it means or what does this having to do with upgrading qualification with any applications. Why did you think you would get to upgrade that easily from trail try out app to licensed one?
I don't think the Apple's ads are misleading. I just think you got yourself confused. Sorry I can't help you. IF I am Apple employee, I would love to help you and get this resolved for you. I am just one of those participants helping others.
Once again, I am sorry that you get your view all wrong and lead into thinking that you are entitled to do so. But you need to understand that once if you had purchased a full license app from try-out app. Most people know what does that mean with try out app for the first time. And most people know that if they wish to purchase an application, this means purchasing a boxed (or electronic downloaded file) from Apple retail store (or online store). Plus, new venue at Apple offering Mac App store. I think that is a little confusion for some people who are not familiar with the difference.
I do believe that if you purchase from Mac App store, it doesn't require to put in license serial number. I think it is a different approach for some reason. I had bought some other Mac apps (not Aperture) from Mac App store few times. I haven't purchased Aperture updated version straight from Mac App store online. I bought mine from Apple retail store in Canada in person.
I still don't understand why you still think Apple is misleading you all the way. I don't think it is. In case if you haven't notice... there is way for you to get in touch with Apple called Apple Support Express Lane. Give it a try.
