Moving Outlook email to MacBook

How do I transfer old Outlook Express 5 email from my iMac OS9.2 to my Macbook so that it's readable?
Thanks.

And which Mail software are you planning to use in OSX 10.5.8 ?
OS X Mail ?
Thunderbird ?
Entourage ? Outlook ?
Entourage 2004 or 2008 can import from Outlook Express v5 (and an enormus number of other formats). Even the demo version of Office could be used to get them into a mail database on OS X. Then you have 30 days to work out how to get the stuff into your target Mail application.
It'll certainly be do-able, perhaps going via Thunderbird, it all depends on your preferred mail app, if it can't import from anything, then you're between a rock and a hard place.

  • Need guidance moving archived Outlook emails onto Macbook Pro

I am switching from a PC at work to a macbook pro laptop. I have successfully added my outlook exchange server email address to apple mail. However, I need to add my archived emails that are on my old desktop. Can anyone help or advise me? Do I have to purchase Outlook for Mac and use that program?
    Thanks~

Sounds like you have updated to 10.1.1?
Something is not right in the updating.
I think the last two Projects have something in them that did not transfer in the copy of the Library.
Try creating a separate Library for the last Projects on the Mac Pro then copy that Library.

  • HT2506 when using outlook email on macbook air how do you enlarge the text to readable size?

How do you enlarge text in e-mail from outside e-mail such as Outlook?

    Hi Dorothy,
Took me awhile to get on a Mac that has Safari 5 on it, (I hate Safari past 3.x, so never update or use it).
Anyway, I see no options for that at all, though I think it was rumored that 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 would have it!
I think your only options are to use the Zoom in Key Combo of CMD & +, or if you don't have a numeric Keypad then CMD+Shift+equal sign, or in System Preferences>Universal Access>Seeing tab, turn Zoom on, then Option+CMD+= will Zoom it in, Option+CMS+minus sign zooms out again.
There may be some 3rd party system hacks around the text part, but they usually cause problems sooner or later.

iCloud email supports 'plus' addressing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address#Address_tags
So your friend could just add '+research' to the username part of your email address, and you setup a rule at icloud.com to put all emails sent to that address into a particular folder.
    For example:
    [email protected]
There's no way to do it without rules on the server though.

  • Can I transfer my email in outlook on my macbook pro (windows for mac) onto my ipad mini?Help!?

can I transfer my email in outlook on my macbook pro (windows for mac) onto my ipad mini?Help!?

Outlook is an email client and that does not indicate if your email is POP or IMAP. If you have an IMAP email account, all of your emails actions will automatically sync across your devices. If you have POP, it does not work that way.
If you are asking if you can transfer the current emails on the Mac onto the iPad, no you cannot, unless the email is an IMAP account and they can download onto the iPad again from the server.

  • How can I get imported Outlook email into folders in mail?

I am a longtime PC user with email and calendar in MS Outlook (finally) converting to an iMac.  I used the Migration Assistant to transfer my old PC email to new iMAC running OSX Lion via ethernet.  On the old PC, I have ~15 years of stored emails in a *.pst file, organized by folders.  I want to retain that file structure to organize older email (but retain it on hard drive for later access) in mail on the iMac.  For example, I get an email confirmation of an online order, I move it to a folder called "Money" in case I have any problems with the item or need ot figure out how long since I purchased something for warranty.  After the migration I have 1,984 messages in my inbox on the iMac.
    Two apparent problems:
    1) Everything is in one folder.  I don't want to have to refile all this stuff again.  How do I get an intact folder structure imported to iMac email from Outlook 2000 *.pst file?
    2)  I don't think the migration moved everything form the old pst.  It took more than inbox, but not enough to be all the emails.  To avoid duplications, should I scrub the iMAC mail clean before any steps to achieve 1 above?  If so how do I remove the emil imported the first try to iMac?
Be gently, true newbie status here.  Learning the iMac slowly - but can't go for long without email.....

Hi. I have a similar issue. Migration assistant seems to have pulled in all my email accounts (6) correctly and also the mails that were sat in those inboxes. However, the entire folder structure (where I would drag and drop) has not migrated and nor (it seems) the email contained within. I also have a .pst (which is not corrupted on the PC) and is not huge. So I would like to move all my history across. I don't particularly care about the folder structure but I do, of course, want all of my history transferred.
Is there any easy way to do this? Otherwise all I can think of is moving all emails on my PC from the folders to an inbox in Outlook, unarchiving the .pst emails and then doing the email migration all over again.
    Thanks for any help.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Air forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Have problem saving or viewing PDF attachments in outlook email

I can't open or save attachments that are PDF in outlook email.  I can save other attachments, wich leads me to believe maybe this is related to the ADOBE READER not set right.
Get error message that says, "Can't create file:  PURCHASEORDER.pdf.  Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder."
I am trying to save to desktop.  Have tried other folders too without success.
    Any help would be appriciated.

I don't have a problem opening PDF files attached to e-mail on either my MacBook Pro or my iPad 2.  Are they not showing up as attachments, or are the attachments failing to open?

  • Outlook emails coming across as unread

Have an imac and ipad2. Just moved in to the incloud and outlook emails (dozens of them ) are coming aross to my ipad as underad. They have been read previously on the mac or ipad and deleted or put into folders. How do I stop this happening? Any ideas as I am new at this? Thanks.

Outlook for Mac is not compatible with icloud. You must use Apple Mail,Adressbook and iCal which are part of Lion.
Only in Windows Outlook works with icloud. The Mac Version of "Entourage" or "Outlook 2011" is not.

  • When I reset Firefox it deleted my Outlook email account on my iMac

When I reset Firefox it deleted my Outlook email account on my iMac computer. It also moved my AccountEdge accounting file into the Old Firefox data file on my desktop along with all the backups. There are also Microsoft user data files and some Word documents in that file too. I hope you can help because I don't know how to put these files back where they belong.

[[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]] this would help for the files associated with Firefox.
However as for the Outlook email, you can restore them with these instructions [http://email.about.com/od/outlooktips/qt/Restore_Outlook_Mail_Contacts_and_Other_Data_from_a_Backup.htm]
I am not entirely familiar with the storage of outlook files in Firefox.

  • Thunderbird-- outlook email account spinning beach ball

TB has been working well. 4 email accounts. Three all OK .Have an outlook email address as one mail account. Yesterday sent an email with 2 small attachments. This seemed to hang but the mail did go. Ever since when i move to any folder on this account (inbox, send ,drafts) I get a spinning beach ball for 10-30 seconds. Longer for the sent folder. I also get occasional server may have disconnected messages (have never seen this before) Tried starting without add ons - no change Tried deleting account and adding it again- no change . The other 3 email accounts are fine.
    attached the error console
    any help would be appreciated
    many thanks

Many thanks for the suggestions. I have compacted the folders and turned off copies in sent folder. I still have the same problem although moving between folders is perhaps slightly quicker...mostly still get the spinning beachball for 5-20 seconds ... I haven't seen the outlook server disconnected pop up for a couple days though which is an improvement

  • How can I attach a document saved in my iCloud to a web based outlook email on my IPad?

How can I attach a document saved in my iCloud to a web based outlook email on my IPad?

Thanks Nik and Roger. I think we've all come to the same realization: the new Pages will not attach documents to e-mail without going through Cloud. If you don't want to give your files to Apple to keep in its Cloud (which I assume the NSA has access to through a back door), then you can't use the new Pages.
If, like me, you downloaded the new Pages and used it to work on a document, before realizing you couldn't attach it to e-mail, then when you saved that document it was saved in the new Pages. If you later delete the new Pages (as I did) and go back to using an older version (which you can find in your iWorks file on your hard drive), then you discover that the older version of Pages won't open a document that you worked on and saved with the new Pages.
Nik and Roger have found the solution, if you keep the new Pages. If you delete the new Pages (as I did) then I had to accept the loss of any work I did on my documents using the new Pages, and began over using the latest version of my document that I had saved with the older Pages.
All in all, this has really soured my tase for Apple. If I hadn't recently bought a new MacBook Pro, I'd be switching to a PC now. I refuse to let Apple bully me into using their Cloud.

  • Old Outlook emails (windows) on to Thunderbird (Mac); Files already on Mac

Hi, I have looked at several forums, including this one, and cannot find an answer to my question. If you can help I would hugely appreciate it.
    1) I used to use Microsoft Outlook on a Windows PC.
    2) I now have a Macbook Pro with OS Leopard
    3) I use Thunderbird as my current email programme on my Mac
    4) When I had my windows PC I saved my old emails into a two files (one for sent items, one for inbox items). I currently have these two files (about 3 GB in size each) saved in a folder on my Mac. When I look at the 'info' section, it says they are 'Unix Executable Files'.
I wish to transfer my old Outlook emails into Thunderbird, open them and save them in my appropriate folders. I currently use a Gmail account that is IMAP-linked, but I don't think this is in any way relevant to my problem.
Can someone help me open these old emails in Thunderbird?

I don't know if this helps but check out Outlook2MaC.
