Moving photos between accounts??

I have an account for everyone, then a user account for work. How do I move some pics from my everything account to my iPhoto library in my work account? Help please!

If, as administrator, you can see the two libraries via the Finder then you can use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to copy selected albums or rolls from Library A into Library B while maintaining the keywords, commnets, ratings, etc. But you have to be able to have access to both with read and write permissons. One library would have to reside in the Public folder or the Sites folder for that account the other account to have access it.
Another way would be to put your primary iPhoto Library folder in the Shared folder on the Mac. Then when logged into your work account you'd have access to that library as well as the work library. Using iPLM in that situation would work well.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Moving photos between accounts on the iMac.

Is there a way to share photos in each account of the iMac?

Double-click on your startup volume, usually called +Macintosh HD+, on the Desktop.
At the top level, there is a folder called Users. Double-click it.
This should show the home folders for all the user accounts on the Mac. There should be one other folder there, called Shared. Things you put in there are accessible from all the user accounts.

  • Moving Photos between users

Hi I am trying to clean up computer & am new to iPhoto. We have 5 members of family + 1 user for family photos as users on one mac. All have down loaded photos into their individual photo library resulting in a massive double up of pics & also pic that should be in family user not being there.
My Qu is can I import/export photos between users on same mac. We are using iPhoto 09
    Thanks
    Chris

Enable iPhoto Sharing In each iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. The Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window and from the individual libraries to the Main one.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.

  • C3-01 - Moving Photos Between Folders On SD Memory...

I’m stumped on how to move photos between folders on the SD memory card in my new C3-01.
When I take a photo, it saves it to the ‘Images’ folder on the SD card, but there doesn’t appear to be an easy way to get it from that folder onto one of my other folders.
On my previous phone, I’d do the following –
    1 – Open the item
    2 – Go to ‘Options’
3 – Scroll down to ‘Move’
4 – When the list of available options was displayed, I’d highlight the ‘Memory card’, and press Options’ again to get an ‘Open folder’ option.
5 – Select the ‘Open folder’ option.
6 – Scroll down to the folder I wanted to put the photo in to.
However, on my C3-01, once I get to option 4 above, there don’t appear to be any other options available. I now have a situation where I’ve moved items from my Images folder on my memory card but can’t put them into any sub-folders.
Is this function no longer available? If so, it does seem a bit unusual.
    Hope someone can help.
    Many thanks

  • Moving photos between projects

I'm having a problem - erratically - moving photos from one project to another. When I select one photo & drag it to a different project - the entire project gets moved instead of just the one selected photo. (I've double checked that there are no photos selected before I select the photo that I want to move.)
If I cancel the move, I end up with missing thumbnails & sometimes missing photos.
This is erratic because sometimes dragging one photo to another project works.

It is really hard to tell what might be happening - we need more details:
What is your Aperture version? The most recent Aperture 3.4.1?
Are your images referenced or managed? Raw or jpegs?
How did you edit them? With Aperture or an external editor?
Do you create new versions when editing and stack them, or edit the current version?
And after moving to a new project, the preview of the version shows the original master, but the thumbnail shows the original edits? Is that correct?
I Suspect, when you moved the images, they lost their previews. As a test, duplicate an image version (Photo > Duplicate Version) and force the generation of a new preview (Ctrl-click, hold down the options key ⌥, select "Generate Preview"). Does that bring back the edits? Also you could try to export the image version ans see, if the edits are still there.

  • Moving photos between libraries

I take lots of photos, and, with previous incarnations of iPhoto, this was a bit of a problem. To get around it, I created multiple users on my computer, each with a themed library (family, travel, hobbies, etc.)
With iPhoto 6 I can have much larger libraries, and multiple libraries for a single user. I have migrated my libraries (via an external hard drive) back to my main user, and open them as needed without a problem.
Is there any way to move photos (original and modified, as a package) from one library to another? Or to merge libraries?
I can export and then import from one to another, but I lose the original. Or I can burn to a disc, and then import, but this is time consuming and wasteful of discs.
    Any other suggestions?

    luba:
Yes there is. The paid version of iPhoto Library Manager will let you move photos between libraries along with the originals, keywords, etc. It's about the only way to do it.
With iPhoto's new alias mode there is a way to have several users use the same set of source files but each have their own edits, etc. You would place the source files in the Shared library and everyone use them as their source files. FWIW I've created some Tutorials to assist users covert from a conventional library to an alias based system.

  • Working and moving photos between two open libraries?

I'm not sure if it is possible, but can you work in and transfer photos between two open libraries at the same time? It is more an organizational question...i.e. I want to have some photos only appear in a particular library...

    nk3:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can only have one library open at a time but with iPhoto Library Manager (in the free mode) you can transfer 20 photos at a time between libraries and keep keywords, comments, etc.

  • Moving Photos Between iPhoto Libraries

I have established a second iPhoto library but an not clear on how to move photos from the original library to the second library. Seems it should be simple - from the original library I highlight the photos to be exported to the second library, then click "export", but the export to the second library doesn't happen. Also, while in the second library I tried to import the highlighted photos from the original library, but that didn't work either. I have iPhoto 6.0.6 Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    HDP

    HDP,
You cannot export directly into another iPhoto Library folder, because all files must be imported in order to be recognized by the database. Don't ever try to manipulate your files directly inside the iPhoto Library folder. Importing photos from one library into another will get you the photos, but strip them of their albums and other library metadata.
The only way to move photos between libraries and preserve albums, keywords, and other metadata is to use iPhoto Library Manager. It will save you a lot of work.
    Regards.

  • Moving photos between iPads that share an iMac (separate accounts)

I have my own ipad and my mom has her own iPad. We each have our own iTunes account, but I manage them both as separate accounts on my iMac. We recently took a vacation and I have all of the photos in my iphoto (syncs w/ my iPad of course), but would like to also put them on her iPad to share with her friends. I thought I could copy them all, use fast switching and paste to her iphoto (synch to her iPad), but that doesn't work?! How can I get them to her account so they show in her ipad photos? I know I can simply email them to her, but isn't there an easier way to just give her the whole album?

  • Moving pics between accounts

I just want to check that this information is correct: To move photographs from one account on my computer to another account which is synced with a color iPod, I should just export my pics from iPhoto as 'orginals', burn them to an DVD, then import them to the other account's iPhoto.
Correct? Is there is an easier way - moving folders of photos from one account to another if I have administrator rights?
How do I move a video clip from one computer to another computer - iTunes bought clip?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

You can use the instructions in this article to share your iPhoto library.
To move the video clip to another computer, locate it on your hard disk, and then copy the file to an optical disk, an external hard or flash drive, or use a direct connection between the computers, such as Ethernet, AirPort, or FireWire, to copy it.

  • Moving Events between Accounts

I have created a new user account to deal with some issues.
I would like to migrate/copy/move all of the photos and events and faces and places setup information I created in the old account.
    Looking for some guidance.
There seems like there should be an easy way to migrate but I don't seem to be able to find any support on this problem.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.
One more question. Where are the actual photo files located? Do I need to move them or are they all part of the iPhoto Library that I copied?
In other words can I blow away the old account's Pictures folder.
Sorry for the simple questions but I'm a convert and used to seeing files.
    Thanks

  • Moving photos between two iphoto libraries

Is there any way to easily move photos from one iphoto library to another? We have two macs at home and my wife and I keep separate iphoto libraries on each one. Both computers are using iphoto '08 (version 7.1.2). I back up both libraries on an external hard drive. Recently my wife was traveling with one computer and I needed to access some pictures that were on it. The only way I could figure was to:
    1) hold down the option key when opening iphoto on my machine, choose the library on the external
drive that had the photos I needed.
    2) Then from within iphoto export those photos.
    3) Then close out iphoto and reopen it with the library on my machine.
    4) Then finally import the photos into the library on my machine.
Is there any faster and easier way to extract photos in a situation like this?

Like Larry said, use iPLM to copy events or albums between libraries while keeping metadata, keywords, titles and descriptions, intact.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Moving photos between rolls within the same library

I'm sure this question has been answered along the way in discussions, but I couldn't find it, so I'll post this. In iPhoto 6, within the same library, how does one move photos from one roll to another? I imported a couple of pictures which created unique rolls for each picture. I want to move these pictures to an existing roll, and delete the created rolls. I'm sure the answer is simple, but I can't figure it out!

In the View Menu, check to enable Film Rolls
Then drag the pic to the header of the actual roll.
