Moving/removing menu bar menulets

I want to remove and/or reorder various menulets (e.g., for Airport, bluetooth, MS messenger, time machine, etc.) that are on the very top menu bar. I thought it would be a simple chore, but I've tried click-drag, control-drag, option-drag, and command-drag and nothing works. They just are stuck there as if glued. There MUST be a way to remove or reorder them, isn't there? In the few months I'm had my Macbook I've learned so much, but this silly little chore has defeated me!

You have PithHelmet installed or you have SIMBL installed. They are not compatible with 10.5.2. Perhaps uninstalling SIMBL and any utilities dependent upon it such as WiFind may fix your problem.
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:
AppZapper
CleanApp
Yank
SuperPop
Uninstaller
Spring Cleaning
Look for them at www.versiontracker.com or www.mackupdate.com.

  • How to remove menu bar for a single tcode

    Hi,
I created a Transaction iview with gui for html and now i  want to deactive menu bar for a single tcode.
I'am able to remove menubar by passing parameter in Webgui but it will remove menu bar for all.
    Can anybody provide me solution.
    With regards,
    Pradeep.B

    Hi,
It's really possible. You can define an ITS service on your R/3 and apply parameter ~WEBGUI_SIMPLE_TOOLBAR. With this parameter you can hide all bars, using different values (3 bits). You can use, for example, value 132.
After that, you define an IAC iview on your portal with your ITS service.
    Hope this helps,
    Iván.

  • Remove menu bar from second monitor maverick

Hi, Can i Remove menu bar from second monitor maverick ?
    Thanks

Apple has sort of screwed up the whole full-screen / multi-screen features of OSX. I get it's hard to achive it all in a "perfect way" for everyone but the so called "improved" multi-screen features of 10.9 add a number of issue on top of the "fixes".
    1. Switching between apps with CMD + TAB is bugged with using 10.9 screen-setup. The OS doesn't understand what screen I'm using and the CMD + TAB feature shows up on screen 1 or screen 2. The only way I've found to controll this is by activating the DOCK on either screen which is a very bad solution.
    2. Spotlight searching always follows the "active" screen. At least 10.9 understands what screen is my active one but in this case I never ever want screen 2 to have Spotlight on it. Very irriting.
    3. Remembering application positions. If I open an app from the dock on screen 1, place it on screen 2 close it and again open it from the dock on screen 1 the app will open on screen 1 and not screen 2. Some apps will remember certain windows on the correct display. A solution is to open the app from the dock on the display you want it on. Very irritiating.
    4. Swiching between apps is also bugged. Concider I have mail on screen 2 and a new mail window on screen 1. I CMD + TAB to Safari on screen 2 after starting to write the new mail on screen 1. No problems here. If I now howvever CMD + TAB back to mail, the last active window (new mail window on screen 1) won't be active. Very irritating.
As noted above, going back to what we had in 10.7 and 10.8 solves these issues but doesn't solve Apples horrible fullscreen app issues. I'd go as far as saying Apple hasn't really fixed anything in 10.9 - only cause more issues and confusing behavoir. Fullscreen apps are often very lacking in funktion, having safari or mail fullscreen renders them on a large screen very very limited compared to "maximized". It's also very confusion that you are required to travel between virtual desktops to use full-screen apps. I personally would prefer the option of "layered fullscreen apps". For example VLC allows me to work this way.

  • What happened to moving the menu bar to the icon in the upper left hand corner ?

Firefox used to do this really neat thing where you could relocate the menu bar to the Firefox icon in the upper left hand corner of the browser. The menu itself was changed and rearranged as well. All you had to do is click on the Firefox icon in the upper left hand corner of the browser and the menu bar would appear as a menu from that icon at the same time hiding the menu bar. What happened to that feature?

That has never been a built-in feature of Firefox 3.6.* or earlier versions. Firefox 4 will introduce a button that replaces the menu bar, if you had a similar feature in an earlier version of Firefox it would have been added by an extension.
Possible extensions that you may have used are [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4550/ Compact Menu 2] or [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1455/ Tiny Menu].

  • FileVolt removes Menu Bar Items

I am having a problm were after i enabled FileVault, the items in the menu bar disappear (bluetooth, iChat, Keychain access, and ClamXav) It seemed to occure when I restart the system, and it ask if I want to save space, due to FileVault using too much space, it goes thrugh whatever it does to save space, then shuts down. But then when I start back up, the menu bar items are gone and have to be restored. Any ideas?

    Hi, Alan.
    1. If you performed a hacked install of Front Row on your Mac, that has been know to cause this problem, particularly after recent Mac OS X updates. If that is the case, see my "Uninstalling the Front Row hack" FAQ.
    2. SystemUIServer crashes often indicate an incompatible third-party menu extras. Menu extras are the icons on the right side of the menu bar and managed by SystemUIServer. Many third-party menu extras are launched as either Startup or Login Items, usually Login Items. See my "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ for steps that might help you with this problem.
    3. As a general check, run the procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.
    4. With respect to the System Preferences crashes, immediately after one occurs, check Console for clues.
    Good luck!

  • Fullscreen on 2nd Display, remove menu bar?

This may seem picky, but it actually affects a lot of my day.
I have dual monitors, and often play video or use Parallels for work on my 2nd display, but then work natively in OS X on my 1st display. Regardless of what I'm working in, if I am trying to work in full screen on the 2nd monitor, I always see the faded menu at the top. If I click on to the fullscreen content of the 2nd monitor, the menu goes away, but if I am actively working in something on the 1st monitor, it reappears on the 2nd monitor.
This sounds small, but means that I can't fullscreen anything unless I stop working and click on to the 2nd monitor.
Any thoughts on how to remove that? It's incredibly annoying.
    Thanks,

A neat example, which works well on OS X is given here:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/extra/fullscreen/example-1dot4/DisplayModeTest.java
I also suggest this link for further explanations:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/extra/fullscreen/example.html
Finally, I'd like to mention that because of the nature of exclusive full screen mode and possibly an implementation error on Macintosh, contextual menus (Popup menus) may not work as expected. I observed two behaviors:
    - contextual menu are simply not drawn or not visible
    or
    - once a popup menu is closed, the screen turns black
I have devised a rather short pure-Java work-around which solves both problems, and is multi-platform friendly.

  • I have a VI with menu barattached i want to remove the menu bar.I am able to remove the menu bar in run continuously mode.but not in normal mode how do i do it in normal mode

I have a VI with menu bar.I am able to remove menu bar in continuous mode by setting window appearence. But i want the menu bar to be removed at normal mode also. How do i do it

You can trun off the menu while the VI is running by going into the VI properties (right click on the VI icon and select 'Properties). Then from the Catagory selestion box, select Window Appearance, click the Customize button, then uncheck the Show Menu Bar check box and hit OK twice. That shold do it.
Note that this will only turn off the menu while the VI is running. The standard menu will always be showing when the VI is not running.

Using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

  • Spry Menu Bar disappears absolute position

Hello all this is my first time posting on this site so bear with me. I have a semi-transperant spry menu bar that i inserted into the header div, over an image. I moved the menu bar -38px, when the position is set to relative the menu bar is visible, however the old position of the menu bar has a blank white space there. I think this is due to the relative position property. When i change it to absolute the whole menu bar disappears? http://www.brightlikethesun.com/index2.html (the position is back to relative to show the menu bar and also background for header is blue to show the space)

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

<p><img src="BLTS2.jpg" alt="BLTS" width="411" height="297" align="left" /><img src="BLTS font.jpg" width="340" /> is a Post-Rock band from San Antonio. They were born in early 2012 from the collective desire to make beautiful, thought provoking, and at times, chaotic music. Much like fellow Texan bands like Explosions in the Sky and This Will Destroy You, they are entirely instrumental, and known for creating progressively intricate waves of ambiance that grow with intensity and an unabashed wash of emotion. Attuned to their affinity for dynamics, seeing them live takes the listener from deafening walls of orchestrated sound, to melodies so subtle that one finds themselves acutely aware of their own breathing. <br />
Bright Like The Sun&rsquo;s debut album, Coda Fin, was engineered/mixed by Alex Bhore (of This Will Destroy You), and mastered by TW Walsh (of Pedro The Lion). The record, which was self released, was made available on April 12, 2013.<br /><br /><img src="BLTS3.jpg" width="330" height="245" align="right" /></p>

    What I see:
You need a width on the ul.MenuBarVertical style. Make it the same width as the ul.MenuBarVertical li selector.
Remove the float: none; from this style:
    ul.MenuBarVertical ul li
         width: 12em;
         float: none;
No such measurement as a half a pixel:
    ul.MenuBarVertical ul
         border: .5px solid #CCC;
If you want a border, 1px is minimum...you repeat this incorrect half-pixel in several places.

  • I have dual displays.  My dock is on the MBP bottom and the menu bar is on the extended monitors top.

I have a Dell 2408 acting as the main display and a 15" MBP.  For some reason, today the dock ended up on the MBP screen at the bottom and the menu bar is on the Dell at the top.  I can't seem to move the dock back to the Dell.  Can someone help?  I tried moving the menu bar to the MBP and then back, hoping the dock would follow but no luck.
    Thanks for your help.

When the dock is defined as on the bottom, it will appear on the screen of the extended desktop that is lowest.
Move the second monitor where the bottom edges are equal or the Dell is lower and the dock will move there.

  • Menu Bar items inactive in firefox after a while (firefox 8.0, mac OSX 10.6.8)

It happens a few minutes after starting firefox:menu bar items become inactive. The apple menu is inactive too. The menus of the other applications work properly (Apple menu is OK then). When switch back to firefox, menus are still inactive. Menus work again if all the firefox windows are closed (not systematically). When restarted, firefox is OK ...for a while.

try 1: disk permissions repaired : menu bar items still inactive from time to time
try 2: firefox.plist removed : menu bar items not active at all although a new plist has been created!
restoring the old plist : menu bar items OK, but I have to wait for a while, because menu bar items turn inactive only from time to time (generally, in less than 1 hour). Will keep you informed
    Thank for your help!

  • Menu bar accessibility severe issue

    Dear support team
I am a visually impair person (20/100) vision. I am working as software architect since 27 years in the Windows and Linux world. A year ago I bought an AirPort and I fall in love with Apple product best quality: "Always work like a charm"!
So 5 months ago I decide to make the jump and I bought an iMac 27", i7, 16GB, 2TB. As expected, everything works wonderfully until I realize the terrible mistake Apple techies made regarding accessibility that even Microsoft fixes years ago.
The menu bar has NO descent support at all for accessibility.
Let me explain the four fold problem:
    1) The font size cannot be adjusted, so I must memorize menu item position or stretch my neck to see what I am selecting.
    2) Being 50 years old, I am wearing progressive lens, so only the bottom part of the lens are adjusted for reading, this implies that I shall stretch my neck even more to be able to see something on the menu bar.
    3) I am from Quebec Canada, so I use both English and French languages. However, the "language icon" at the right end of the menu bar is so small that they look identical.
    4) When you change the size of the mouse pointer, its positioning becomes offseted.
I am using the mouse zooming functionality to work around these problems, but believe me, this is far from being appropriate. Changing the resolution is no a solution too.
You have to realize that visually impair people are buying large screens with the believing that they will be able to adjust font / icon size so everything will work well and they will have good screen real-estate. Also don't forget that your earlier Apple adaptors are now over 40's and they wear progressive lens too.
Now how to fix the problem:
    1) Use the same magnification effect on the menu bar as the one on the Dock.
    2) Allow user to change the language icon or at least its colour.
    3) Make the menu bar font size adjustable.
    4) Allow the user to move the menu bar at the bottom of the screen.
    5) Fix the mouse pointer offset issue, this is just a question of taking the mouse pointer size into account in the position calculation.
I perfectly understand that allowing the user to change the font size of the menu bar (which is the system font size) may have side effects, same for moving the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. However, there is NO excuse to not provide magnification effect on menu bar and language icon configuration.
Not providing these features are just like not providing access ramp to public buildings and saying: There is always someone passing by that will help the rare "cases" who have to deal with the situation. If it is not enough, in Quebec, it is forbidden to use very small fonts in legal documents!!!
This shall not be seen as a legal or business issue but rather an ethical issue exactly like the access ramp. You, Apple, shall do your best to give equal access to your products independently of physical conditions.
I am sure the people who create these wonderful products at Apple will see this as a very interesting challenge to make MAC much more accessible to roughly 30% of the population, people over 40s and visually impair people.
    Best regards
PS: If anybody knows which door to knock to get this issue fixed, let me know; the normal did not work at all.

If you wish to contact Apple, the only way to do so is via Apple's Feedback page. We are just other Apple customer like yourself. We can offer suggestions and workarounds, but be can't move the menu bar.

You are using Universal Access aren't you? There are a number of ways to zoom in on the screen (including the menu bar) or have it spoken to you. Plus, most commands have a ⌘ (command) key equivalent. If the built-in Universal Access features are insufficient, you could use Automator to create a whole suite of shortcuts to commonly-performed operations.
    3) I am from Quebec Canada, so I use both English and French languages. However, the "language icon" at the right end of the menu bar is so small that they look identical.
That is just for keyboard input. What is your keyboard's layout? If it is in English, I would say just use the shortcuts for French diacriticals. option e for accent aigu, option ` for accent grave, option i for circonflexe, option u for umlaut, and option c for cedille. If your keyboard in is French, the shortcuts should still work for circonflexe and umlaut. I do a fair amount of work in French and I would get really confused if I changed by keyboard.
    4) When you change the size of the mouse pointer, its positioning becomes offseted.
Are you doing this through Universal Access? I don't really understand what you mean. It seems to work fine. There is a "hot point" on the cursor and it seems to be at the same (relative) place regardless of the cursor size.
I am using the mouse zooming functionality to work around these problems, but believe me, this is far from being appropriate. Changing the resolution is no a solution too.
Have you tried this hint to enable Resolution Independence? It is supposed to be buggy, but it is what you are asking for.

  • Automate "relocate menu bar"

How can I automate the "relocate menu bar" functionality found in the display arrangment tag in system preferences. I want to be able to quickly move the menu bat to my Cintiq tablet display, either by clicking an icon or a keyboard shortcut.

Well, for one, this an Automator forum, so as for doing that with Automator there would have to be an action for it. Have a look at the actions included in Automator, you won't find an action for moving the menu bar from one display to another.
You also probably won't find an action created by a third-party developer (i.e. not Apple) that would do that, either. Though if you search for one and do find it, then you're is problem is solved.
I would say you really need to try the AppleScript forum. No guarantee they'll be able to help, but that is much more suited for your request. Automator is more oriented towards repetitive tasks on large batches of files, or a perhaps a group of tasks. Such a singular and non-file related request as yours is more likely to be solved with AppleScript. While an Automator workflow can have AppleScript in it, it's not worth it unless you're also doing other tasks that can be accomplished with Automator actions. Might as well stick with pure AppleScript for such a task, if it can be done at all.
    Good luck.

  • F-menu bar buttons partially visible. How to remove bar?

The system comes with a menu bar for the F-key functionalities. By moving mouse pointer to top of screen, it appears. I cannot seem to find out where I can uninstall og disable this annoying bar. It looks like a software error when it's not used. A small line of the buttons are visible and it irritates me. Help me how to remove, please?

    Hi
I think you mean the Toshiba Vista FlashCards.
The FlashCards controls the FN buttons and if you want to use the FN buttons I would not recommend removing it from the operating system.
If dont want to use this tool then you could disable it in:
Programs Toshiba - Utilities Toshiba FlashCard settings
    Hope this helps.
    A feedback would be appreciated
