Moving Text and Objects Around on One Page

Hi All
I am Using Acrobat X
I have 36 pages from a pdf printed onto one (without borders) using Adobe PDF printer - Attached image, Sorry please advise if there is a way to attach the actual pdf, I couldnt find one.
These are notes for an exam and given we are only allowed to take in one A4 page, I need to squash these up. Ideaaly i want to be able to highlight certain bits and drag them to other areas.
Note
- The current size of the text is legible when printing
- Taking a screenshot using that tool will not suffice due to quality reduction as the text is so small. Everything is currently vector quality
- I don't have the word docs for these

I can't really think of a good way of doing this in Acrobat without a very round-about workflow.
I would suggest you download and install the trial of Adobe Illustrator. Place your PDF file into a new Illustrator document (Size A4). The PDF file will exceed the document size, but you should be able to see printable area and the PDF spilling over the artboard. Then use the tools in Illustrator to re-arrange the content within the confines of the printable area you need.

Moving text and objects

I have learned much from reading these discussions. This is my first post and I have had no previous experience with layouts or layers in any other application.
One of my students created this text box. How does she increase the borders around the text in the frame so the text does not bump up against the border? I am not sure how she created it. (Sorry, I thought I could put a picture of the text box in here but it won't import).
How do you make a text box increase horizontally without increasing it vertically?
I have had trouble moving objects after they were placed in the background but have learned how to do this from reading these discussions. (Drag from outside the layout to the object.) Thanks. However, I still have trouble doing this for text boxes made over a shape. Sometimes (and I don't know why) a small insertion image appears. It looks like a paragraph insert sign - has a small wavy line on top with two straight perpendicular lines attached to it going down. What are these? When this is an issue I still can't move text that is placed over an object.
Selecting text to move seems to be different than selecting objects to move.

this I don't understand. If the text would be the content of the shape, you should set every option of the wrap inspector by activating "Object causes wrap" and the tab inspector should be useable, too. If the textbox and the shape behind it would be grouped (you can check this in the menu "Arrange" at the bottom) than you couldn't be able to set the border color or anything else then the size. But maybe I am sitting on my brain.
Of course there are eight handles! Who has mentioned there should be nine? Oh, errr..., my fault
Have a look at the metrics inspector. There is a checkbox titled "Constrain proportions". Uncheck it and you can resize the object like you want.
The best to get a reason of this "thingamajiggys" (how do you speak such a word without enough beer?) is to make a screenshot with layout guides and invisibles shown. Can you send me one or a few screenshots (of the first issue, too) to my e-mail address? You will find it by clicking on my user name in the left column of one of my posts. Or perhaps someone other has an idea.

You can't expect Mail to support all the objects of Pages which can include anything up to charts generated from spreadsheet tables.
Even if Mail was a superset of Pages, what would the recipients who don't have either Mail or Pages, make of it?

let said the first text i type is Adobe but i want to change it to Microsoft.

You haven't said what version of Pages you are referring to.
Hold down the option key when you go to the File menu and Save As… appears.
It was Apple stiff necked response to users complaint about its removal. They couldn't just put it back.
Once you do do this it is pretty much what it was before.

You mean while creating a book in iPhoto? Click on the layout button while viewing a page and select the layout that includes both text and photos. Most themes will have those options.

Need to remove the header and footer regions on one page

Hi,
I have a requirement to remove the header and footer regions on one page only. The regions I'm referring to contain the following:
Header:
Company logo, Home link, Logout link, Preferences link
Footer:
Copyright info, Privacy Statement, Home link, Logout link, Preferences link
These are the standard Oracle header and footer regions/page items, so I am not specifying a particular page name, although it would be the create time cards page we want to modify.
Also, we only want to remove these regions/items from ONE page, not an entire responsibility.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Use this code in the processrequest of the controller on the page on which you want tohide these

page.setGlobalButtons((oracle.cabo.ui.UINode)null);
And for hiding the Copyright info, Privacy Statement:
Click on Personalise page link
then Click on Choose Context
Choose "OAFooter" as Scope
and click "Apply"
and then Personalise the Copyright and Privay Statememnt icon and set rendered as False.

I am copying and pasting into a new, Pages document (from the word processing menu), and I paste in text that is longer than one page, it doesn't continue onto the next page. I can't see the end. How do I get it to show everything I paste in?

I want to copy an extensive amount of text from a web page into a Pages word processing document, but it seems to chop it up into text boxes, some of which aren't long enough to show all of the lines of text. I can't get hold of a bottom edge of the boxes to drag them to make them longer. I tried several times starting over with a new, blank page (and I made sure to choose from the Word Processing part of the dropdown menu, since I read about a similar problem that said not to use the layout menu. It keeps doing the same thing. What do I have to do to get long text pasted to multiple pages, instead of it trying to be all on one page?
In the long run, what I want is to create this as an ePub book. Is there a better way to go about this?

Copying from web pages can include some weird formatting. Instead of Paste, use Paste and Match Style (Edit Menu).

Print texts in different formats on one page

Is it possible to print the texts on one page in different fonts and sizes? It seems like PrintTextBuffer prints all the texts onto one page at once and there is no chance to change the format. Thanks,

I must admit that I give you that suggestion but I have not used those functions in several years ; testing your function on my system now (CVI 2009SP1 on Win7 with HP LaserJet printer) I have the same results as you.
Due to the limitations of this printing method I moved rapidly to other ways of printing: there are numerous discussions that you can find in the forums about reporting, but basically you can:
Create a hidden "report" panel where to print your data on standard controls (strings, numerics, graphs, tables and so on) and use PrintPanel to print it
Use NIReports instrument
Use Office report printing (via Word or Excel)
Create a PDF
... (other methods I cannot think of at the moment)
The first one is probably the fastest one: you are already accustomed to create panels and after a short trial you can define the correct panel/control aspect to obtain a good report; it permits you also a limited preview if you want to.

Place object on only one page

Hi,
when I place an object onto a page, for example a Photo page, it shows up on both the main page and also on the second page of the template. How can I make it page specific? In other words, only show up on one of the two pages of the template.
To clarify ... the Photos template has placeholders for photos. When you click a photo, you are taken to another page, where the photos can be seen larger. An object that I place on one of these two pages, shows up on both and yet the template's own elements don't.
Any help, much appreciated.

This is the function of the "photos" template - to have a page of thumbnails and a page where you "view" the individual photos larger or in a slideshow.
If you don't want this feature drop your photos onto a "blank" page rather than a "photos" page.

Is it possible to flip text and tables 90º on a page?

Hi, I am working on a blank template word processing document that I imported from Word. It is in a US letter page layout. I am working with tables and text, and would like a few of the pages to be rotated into a horizontal format, so that the tables and text are formatted in a vertical direction.
I can do this in Word via the text direction option, I was wondering if and how I can do this in Pages. Sorry if I'm unclear, I am not sure what to call the format. If you imagine a standard table flipped 90º on a page, and with the text flipped 90º as well, that is what I am wishing to achieve.

Page orientation is set on a per-document basis & you cannot have both in the same document. However, you can create the same effect using text boxes & other floating objects rotated 90 or 270 degrees.

Muse bug, text and objects shifting after upload

Muse: when I add a text box with linked text to an existing page, the text box shifts and other elements on the page shift around randomly on the page after uploading. It looks fine when it opens in safari after uploading but not when opened in a fresh browser.

You can right click on the back or forward button and jump to your required page.

One advantage of the external facing portal solution (SP14) is that the framework page is displayed in a single frame. Perhaps this could be of use to you.

I would love to be able to drag and drop items from one page to another from the plan window. Is that possible?

In desiging my website, I would like to be able to move items from one page to another by dragging and dropping from the plan architecture screen. It might also help if the window could have a zoom in and out feature to facilitate that.

I just tried zooming in the plan window and discovered it works.
