Moving time and cost between projects

HI,
We have couple of projects that were classified incorrectly and are not getting capitalized, the client does not want to re enter the time by entering time to a new project and want us to transfer the time and cost to the correct project.
Is there any way that we can achive this?
Thanks

Hi,
You can transfer the cost and timecards from your current project to new project by using the following navigation
Expenditure Inquiry -> Query for expenditures -> Then go to Tools and select the Transfers option.
Enter the Project Number and Task number.
Transfer the expenditures to new project.
Run the Distribution process.
So cost will be distributed in new project and reversal entries will created against old project.
Thanks,
Sreenath

  • SQL tuning or a simple comprise between time and cost?

    Hi,
What I understand is that SQL tuning is a simple comprise between time and cost. Objectives of SQL tuning include:
    Reduce Cost
    Reduce Time
    Better Results
    Is it right and correct?
    Adith

    NO, WRONG.
reducing COST is meaningless, because COST is meaningless. It's used internally by the optimizer to weigh the cost/benefits of different execution plans (access methods) for a single query. cost CANNOT be compared across queries. and if you add a hint to a sql, then it becomes a different sql (proven by looking in v$sql) so you cannot compare costs. in fact, when you provide a hint, oracle artificially lowers the cost associated with the hinted action in order to make that action look better to the optimizer, helping it to be choosen.
reduce time. reduce io. reduce memory usage. that's it.

  • Using Clipmate to copy and paste between projects

Thanks to Robert Johnston for the inspiration (and perspiration) for this method for copying and pasting between PE projects. One residual side effect of the method is that the audio and video of the copied clips will be unlinked. The renaming folders business is a workaround to avoid the silent audio problem after a project has been saved and reloaded.
    1. Rename the folders of all audio files (including AVI files) used in the project to be copied.
    2. Start PE and load in the project to be copied.
    3. When asked, tell PE where the missing files are. (Check the box marked "Display Only Exact Name Matches".) Press Select.
    4. Highlight parts (or all) of the project to be copied, in the timeline.
    5. Copy the highlighted parts.
    6. Copy into Clipmate:
    6.1 Edit > Capture Special
6.2 Check both items in the list
    6.3 OK
    7. Close PE without saving.
    8. Rename the folders of the audio files back again.
    9. Open destination project in PE.
    10. Re-select the copied info in Clipmate (closing the project in PE caused the clipboard to be cleared):
10.1 Select anything in the Clipmate list except the wanted item.
10.2 Select the wanted item (selecting an item loads it onto the clipboard).
    11. Position the CTI to the wanted insertion point.
    12. Do Edit > Paste Insert.
    13. The pasted items will be highlighted in Media Panel. While still highlighted, select the Media Panel and do: Edit > Locate Media.
    14. Tell PE where the files are.
    15. Save project.

When combining projects, it is best to do your pruning of unwanted clips and other resources BEFORE you combine them, because once the Media Panel gets heavily loaded, PE is liable to crash.
Deleting the unused resources in Media Panel is quite easy in PE3 and PE4. Simply click on the "used" column heading, and the resources will be sorted into two groups of used and unused. Just click on the resource at one end of the unused range and shift click on the resource at the other end to select the whole range, then press delete. (Note that shift works normally in this panel, unlike in the timeline!) However, it is not strictly necessary to delete unused resources before copying and pasting because only resources selected on the timeline will be copied. PE will load and save a lot quicker if unwanted resources are deleted.
My feeling is that PE4 is somewhat more unstable than PE3, but I haven't done a proper direct comparison. For some reason after a crash the autosave often doesn't seem to have done its job properly, even though I set it to save every 10 mins. So make use of the Save button Adobe gave back to us in PE4 and save often, particularly before you use the titler or fiddle with the Media Panel.

  • Copy and paste between projects???

    Hello,
iMovie '09 allows users to copy and paste clips between projects, but it do so with affecting quality. I mean is it the same as dragging clips from Events?
NOTE: I won't be home to check this for a week and I'm trying to help a friend via e-mail. So any help would be great.
    Thank you.

It does not affect quality. When you copy a clip from a project, you are copying a reference to certain frames in an event.

  • Time stretching when copying and pasting between projects

I have had 18 separate instrument tracks of a live gig recorded in pro tools, so I simply imported the audio files into logic. I am also using the audio from a video camera to capture the reverb of the hall. The problem is that the audio files are 3 hours long and I would like to mix each song separately. To do this I would like to have a project for each song.
So I have cut the files up into their respective songs, the problem comes when I try and copy the tracks into a new project. The audio files get stretched making the tuning and tempo lower. I have tried copying and pasting as well as dragging the files over to the new project one at a time. I have also checked that the sample rates are the same, which they are.
Does anyone know why logic would be doing this? Are there any fixes you can recommend?
    Thanks,
    Dave

The sample rates of the files may be the same, while those of the projects may not.
Really, if it's slower and lower, by just about a semitone, then you're definitely playing a 48kHz file in a 44.1kHz project.

  • Copy and Paste between projects not keeping 16:9 ratio?

I wanted to combine two iMovie project files, and I have tried to do an import (gives a -43 Quicktime error), so then I just tried the Copy/Paste feature. It works (ie: brings in my video) with the transitions/effects (ken burns) still applied, but it will only display as a 4:3 video.
I have turned off the Automatic DV Pillarbox setting, but it still is doing it. Any ideas or am I just out of luck on this one?
    Eric
PS: I know I can just export the files to a full DV image, but I was hoping to keep it intact so I can edit all the Ken Burns/transitions later.

when I export to DV, it still doesn't look as good as when I go straight from iMovie6 to iDVD?
Doesn't look as good where? Remember that iMovie display is only a preview. Also QT Player defaults to low-res display of DV clips.
    I am using Expert Settings
iMovie's expert settings are buggy so use the Full Quality preset instead.

  • Copying tracks and content between projects

I have 4 different projects in Logic 8 and I want to combine them all together into one big project including the tracks and automation data. Is this possible?. I have tried OMF/AAF and all the imoprt options but with only limited success(ie vol automation is copied but not pan and stereo files are force split).
    thanks for looking
    Gareth

I had the same question awhile back and the answer I got .... of course in a round about way.... was no. Everyone was saying to bounce the file and then import that into the session. I mean that works but its not ideal. Its things like this that really split me on Pro Tools and Logic.

  • How do I share a compound clip between projects?...

    Hello everyone,
I have created a 10 second intro/title graphic clip in Motion and published it to FCPX. I have added this generator sequence to a project's timeline in FCPX. I then added a lower third title set. I have edited my text (font, style, etc) of my lower third text to where I want it. I then created a compound clip of the two parts (title generator and the lower third text element).
Now that it is dialed in, I need to be able to use it as a template for a series of videos I am working on. I can't seem to find a way to save it and make it availible to drop into other project sequences. I have tried to make a favourite out of the clip, I tried to copy and paste between projects (and into a new event)... nothing works fo rme.
    What am I missing?
Any help is appreciated, thank you,
    Shea A.J. Comfort

    Hi Andy
    Thank you for the advice.
I tried your method but there definitely seems to be a fault or glitch in my software.  If I highlight a number of connected clips and audio tracks the program will not copy and paste them into the newly created compound clip in my event library.
I therefore decided to do it the slow ay and copy each individual item.  This worked fine until I came to the final audio track.  No matter how many times I copy this track Final Cut refuses to do this.  It always comes up with the previous item I copied.  I have retried this and it will copy all the items except one.  As you would expect I have done a fair amount of work on this track in the form of equyalisation, a comnpression filter and numerous keyframes on the level to come out with a mix that I am happy with.  I cannot however move it from the original project.
I find this totally unacceptable and consider the software to be unfit for purpose as a result.  Unfortunately the apple terms and conditions state that all purchases are final and I have no recourse upon them for the fact that it does not work.
I cannot see how an update will fix a problem with my software that is not universal to all users.  I believe that I can reinstall it without being charged again but am hesitant to do this for fear of losing the large amount of work that I have put into the project.
My only hope now is to ring the premium rate number for customer support in the unlikely hope that it can be solved this way.
    Not Happy

  • Popping items back and over between two dropdowns

The problem I'm tryng to solve is where I have 2 String[]s and I want all the values in them to be displayed to the user in 2 seperate dropdowns. The user then can select one or more values in either dropdown and "send" these selected values over to the other list with a button click.
Currently I'm using 2 JLists with their models populated from the 2 String[]s and using actionPerformed to add/remove values from one to the other but I can't hepl but feel that there is a better way to do this as it's a fairly common GUI task that a user might want to do.
I've tried using comboBoxs but this seemed very complex.
Also performance is important and these dropdowns may contain upto 1000 items.
Does anyone have any example of an implementation of this type of functionality? ( They do not have to be dropdowns, Scrollpanes with JTables was another solution I thought about )
    Thanks ...James

+With no settings changes, can a Time Capsule be moved back and forth between houses and just get plugged in and continue working without any hiccups?+
The Time Capsule will connect to the internet fine and create a wireless network.
If your friend is planning to use Time Machine for backups to his MacBook Pro, he'll need to manually point backups to the Time Capsule each time a location change is made.
System Preferences > Time Machine > Select Disk > Use for Backups
In theory, it's possible to backup using Mobile Me, but you're talking about uploading a lot of data, and this is much slower than downloading on almost all ISPs. I haven't used Mobile Me, so can't offer much more about that.

  • Copying/pasting tracks between projects

    Hi guys,
I have three BIG projects, all called "Master Idea Session" 1 2 and 3, which have perhaps 50 tracks, each representing a different song idea.
I can't seem to copy/cut/paste tracks between projects.
Is there a workaround? Could I for example merge all three project files into one big copy, and then go through it and erase what's not needed? Or is there an obvious solution or a way to copy and paste between projects? Is there any way to have more than one project open simultaneously?
What I'm aiming to do is: go through all 150 ideas, find the ones that could actually be turned into songs, and copy 15 or so of the best ones to one project file. That file will be essentially 15 different songs on 15 different tracks that my bandmate(s) can intelligibly go through to see where I'm at. (To be annoyingly clear, they would probably keep all the tracks muted and unmute one to hear a single idea).
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

  • Why can't I cut and paste photos between project?

I recently made the transition from iPhoto to Aperture. One of the weird things is that I can't cut and paste photos between projects. In iPhoto this is an easy way to organize your projects if some photos are in the wrong place.
You also can't split projects, in iPhoto you can do this easily. Say, if two day's photos ending being in the same project, in iPhoto there's a button that you split them in the middle. Is there something like this in Aperture?

    Copy and Paste:
In iPhoto "copy and paste" was possible, because it was not possible in the early versions, to see both projects at the same time, the one you are moving from, and the one you are moving to.
In Aperture you simply drag from the source project to the destination project to move image versions around. Also, it is easy to see more than one project in the Browser at the same time, see: Aperture 3 User Manual: Working with Two or More Browsers Open
To drag to another project, select the images in the project, then drag to the other project in the source list, for example:
To split a project, select the images you want to have in the split part, then create a new project from these images: Enable the check mark "Move selected items to new project". This will split the original project.

  • In iMovie when I try to share a project to a file on an external hard drive it will work the first time but subsequently it says it is sharing but gives no time and file name and in fact just sits there not sharing the file.

I have iMovie 10.0.4.  I want to transfer some old DV tape videos to MPEG 4 files to be stored on a 4 TB external drive. I successfully imported the video to iMovie, created a project by moving all captured files into a project and the first time I shared the project to a file  it worked as expected.  Every subsequent try to transfer another video would fail to transfer.  When I clicked save it gives the warning that it is too big for iCloud, iso I click create on this computer.  The progress circle comes up with no indication of progress.  The show activity drop down just says sharing to "file" no file name as in the first one and indicates no time remaining.  In fact it just sits there apparently doing nothing.  I'v tried it a half dozen times, deleted everything and started over.  It transfers the first project to file and then nothing on additional tries.  What do I have wrong, am I missing something?

  • HELP! Project for school. What is Apples benefits and costs for consumers?

I have a project for school, and I'm focusing it around Apple. Ive done hours of research and cant find anything on the benefits and cost for Apples consumers. Help please?

Macs need almost no IT support, and sometimes none at all. One private educational institution (about 1500 students at all grade levels) with which I have been affiliated a couple years ago decided to equip its students, teachers, and administrators with iPads, iMacs, and MacBook Airs.
They have no IT staff. Zero.
Another, fairly large (Fortune 500 company) recently decided to replace all its Windows computers with iMacs and iPads. Less than a year later they laid off 90% of their IT staff, and reduced its associated infrastructure a commensurate amount. This was a benefit I knew would occur, but the C-level suite didn't believe it until seeing it for themselves.
(Edit to add... Blackberries were the only "supported" mobile device for a long time. iPhones were never supported, yet everyone eventually started using them anyway, even the IT staff. No one even seemed to notice this transition except in hindsight, after which it was already complete. Even today they're not "supported". Yet this business somehow not only managed to survive, it's been growing at a fairly healthy rate despite an awful economic climate.)
Another educational institution, this time a public one with which I've been more recently affiliated, equips all its students and teachers with MacBook Pros at taxpayer expense. Their reason for doing so was a study concluding that Apple hardware lasts longer, is more resistant to malware and its associated problems, and require less support than PCs.
Private institutions have always been sensitive to needless costs while institutions relying on public funding have traditionally been less sensitive to that need. That has been changing recently though. Taxpayers, teachers and students all win, of course IT staff has to find other employment for which they're qualified... whatever that may be.
Of course these amount to nothing more than personal anecdotes, but you can probably find thousands more just like it.

  • Cost VS Time S Curve in Project Systems

    Hello,
I have configured Project Systems Progress Analysis and I am able to see values in CNE5. In CNE5 I am able to extract graphs for each column (e.g BCWP,BCWS, SV, CI etc) through menu Goto -> Graphic -> Totals Curve, but the user requires a Cost Vs Time Earned Value Curve also known as the S-Curve. Is it possible to extract S-Curve,consisting of Schedule Var and Cost Var, in SAP Project Systems ?
If it is then kindly let me know the procedure
    Thankyou

    I have found two options
    Option 1 :
    Go to CNE5 report,
Then click on the description of WBS element or main WBS element. You will get Drill down report for Period Overview.
Go to graphics icons and choose Period D Down. There you will get display for S-Curve
    Option 2:
Go to CN41, select PD or WBSE...Goto>period breakdown...it will take u to new screen where u will have Periods in LHS and Plan cost, Actual costs, Budget etc., in RHS...then click on any column say Actual cost then goto>Graphic>Period Breakdown....U will see period in x-axis and Actual cost in Y-axis.

  • Moving events and projects from machine to machine

Copying the contents of iMovie Events and iMovie Projects to another machine doesn't make them available -- at best, you get their title with no content. Has anyone figured out how to do this?
Do not use the Finder to copy/move the "iMovie Events" folders. Instead, use one of the "Import" File menu options to create a new "Events" folder and assign it to a different hard drive. I suspect the project stores the locations of the various "Events" folders and manually moving them does not update the project's database. As to the "iMovie Projects" folder, don't think anyone has found an internal mechanism for moving them and it is likely they are subject to the same problem if moved manually.
However, once the "folders" are properly created/identified, their contents may possibly be moved without problem. Accidentally moved 2-3 "iMovie Projects" package files to the trash can and they disappeared from the iMovie '08 "listing" when I next opened it. Went searching for the missing files and when I located them, replaced them in the proper folders and the next time I opened iMovie '08 they re-appeared in the "Projects" list.
