I have all my files on my windows based computer and I am thinking about switching over to a mac. Will all my mp4 files play on the mac if I copy them over? I heard there is some kind of tag each system throws on the file. Any help would be great.

As long as you authorise your Mac the tracks will play. You can authorise up to 5 computers at any time to play purchased songs. Font problem Win to Mac?

I have been searching all day for an answer and have run out of things to try.
I am using D8 for my Windows app and D10 (projecter only) for Mac because the D8 projector will no longer work on Macs (but the D8 files will witht eh D10 projector). I have D11.5 but none of my Xtras work like POM and Resx, and budi.
I am using the Party font in my Windows app for signatures on documents and can install the font with my installer. I have no installer for Mac and so this time I tried embedding the Party font and finally got it to work.
Now, I have D8 files with the embedded font and they won't work with the Windows D8 or D10 projector. What do I do to get a cursive font on the Mac from Windows? I can't call a Mac font in Windows. I tried the fontmap.txt file in the app directory according to the documentation, but it does not work. I used Win: Party => Mac:"Lucida Handwrriting"
So embedding fonts according to the instructions does not work in Windows as it does in a Mac projector. Why not? WHat am I supposed to do? The fontmap.txt does not work according to the directions so I can't remove the embedded font in the MAc files. So what do I do?
How do I get a cursive font in the Mac for signatures without having to keep two sets of files? I cannot find a solution or anyone who resolved this problem. Please help, thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, that fontmap.txt file is for use with fonts that are NOT embedded in the Director cast. Also, there is something in the text file itself that explains how if you want to change the font mapping associated with a Director movie that has already been created (i.e. before you edited the fontmap file), then you have to "Load" that new fontmap in the movie properties (in the property inspector). But let's forget about that fontmap file for now. You're supposed to be able to embed a font into the Director cast, and then use that embedded font on either platform. I've seen people complaining about this feature in the lastest version(s) of Director, and in fact I too have had trouble sometimes getting Director to realize that a font is embedded, but this seems to be in Author mode. Once you do convince the program that the font is really embedded, and get it to use that embedded font, and create your projectors, the font seems to keep working OK in the projector. Here's an extremley simple example I made with "Lucida Handwriting" embedded in the cast, and one text member that uses that font in the middle of the stage. The font appeared correctly for me in both the PC exe and the Mac app created from this movie (both created on the Mac):

LR - Win to Mac license transfer

does anybody know if I will be able to install LR on Mac in case of switching from Win to Mac? I.e. I currently have a LR 1.0 win license and 2.0 win upgrade purchased and I wonder if thes keys will allow me to install LR on MAC if I opt for change of system (currently under consideration
If not, is there any option how to switch to MAC without complete purchase of a new license ?
+ Bonus question - How will a catalog (40k+ pics) and all the sidecar files created under WIN version of LR 2.2 (2.3) behave if imported under MAC version? Any real life experience witch such transfer?

You mentioned that: "...you get one free OS change, but you have to never use the other OS again..." which I read in the way that to switch I will need some assistance/key from Adobe, which will be provided for free in case of the first switch and that such switch it "either-or but not both at the same time". On the other hand in your previous post you mentioned that : "...you can use 2 copies of the program, on either platform ..." which suggesting (if I just do not misread it) that not only can I use both systems simultaneously (which would be sufficient for me and would enable me to use MAC and WIN versions simultaneously for some time and get back to WIN if necessary) but more that I can install and use two copies on each of them.
I'm pretty sure I read one of these posts wrong but please clarify which one if possible (sorry not a native speaker as you can clearly see).
I.e.:
1) Currently I run a single copy of LR on my WIN desktop - do I need a different key or perform some deactivation of such installation to install a second copy on MAC if I got it?
2) If I used two WIN copies currently (one on omy desktop and one on my notebook) - would it change something?
3) If I only wanted to give MAC a try and use it for several months to see if it persuades me (it looks like I will have a chance soon and I'm curious man :-), will I be able to come back to WIN installation If apples let's say "will not satisfy my tastes"?
+ shoud I expect cross-platform problems with a catalogue and library import?

Files panel - CS4 Win vs Mac

I'm a Mac user for a long time. Recently, I've done some website work on a PC using CS4. Irritatingly, on the PC, the Files panel [ungrouped] remains ontop of the files when opening them. I have to minimize the panel to see the open files. On Mac this was never a propblem in any version of CS or MX and prior for that matter.
Is there any way to get the same panel behavior on the PC (XP) as the Mac?

Can download MP4s only from Mac webspace

I can download MP4s from my Mac webspace but nowhere else. Also, I can download MOVs from anywhere just fine, even the places where I can't download MP4s.
When I try and download MP4s from normal spots on the web, I just get many pages of weird foreign-language-looking nonsense!

Mac App Store is an option, not required.
It's unwise and unethical to download pirated software.

Ein freundliches Hallo an die Mitarbeiter von Adobe,
vor etwa einem Jahr habe ich eine Win CS6 Studentenversion erworben und nutze sie täglich tatkräftig für meine Projekte. Inzwischen die Zeit reif für einen neuen Rechner. Dabei denke ich über einen Mac nach.
Daher möchte ich mich gern über zwei Themen erkundigen:
1. Ist ein Wechsel auf ein anderes Betriebssytem möglich? (Ich habe gehört einmalig ist ein Wechsel möglich)
2. Sollte ich mich für einen Mac entscheiden, und sollte ein Wechsel möglich sein, würde ich in der ersten Zeit sozusagen gern Probefahren (da ich mir mit der Entscheidung umzusteigen noch nicht sicher bin) und über einen Virtuellen Computer (VM Ware oder Parallels) Windows auf dem Mac betreiben. Da ich weiterhin Halbwissen besitze, das meint, der Rechner auf dem ich die Programme betreibe ist registriert, frage ich mich nun, wie das mit einem Virtuellen PC funktionieren könnte.
Über Hinweise und Anregungen würde ich mich sehr freuen!

Changing plat forms from Win to Mac, Can we move 6 x Win licensed versions of Acrobat Pro 9 to Mac?

We have 6 x Win Acrobat 9 Pro licenses - Any recommendations on how we could utilise these licensed versions on the new system and or is there an upgrade path?

There is no normal upgrade path, all usual purchases stay in the same platform. So you could upgrade to Acrobat Pro 11 for Windows.
However, there is such a thing as a "crossgrade" to cross platforms. If you had Acrobat Pro 11 for Windows, and contacted Adobe they MIGHT sell a crossgrade. Equally they MIGHT sell you a crossgrade from Acrobat Pro 9 Windows to Acrobat Pro 11 Mac. They will not sell, so far as we hear, a crossgrade from Acrobat Pro 9 Windows to Acrobat Pro 9 Mac; licenses for unsupported versions are never sold.
You might also want to look at volume licensing.

Cap7: Problems with Publishing .mp4 file on Mac

Hello,
Using Captivate 7 for the Mac, i imported a Power Point PPTX file, added audio tracks to the slides, and then tried to Publish it for YouTube. It did not work. After trying many different ways to publish, I realize that the published .mp4 file is zero bytes every time. I have tried all formats for you tube, as well as strait mp4. Those don't work. Publishing to html5 format works OK.

App: Captivate 7.0.0.118, I also updated Adobe Media Encoder 6.0.2.81
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Jeff,
Instead of re-recording the audio, you can try export/Import of audio files from Library.
You can perform it in two different ways.
1. Select all the audio files from library, Export it in some location, Import it back in the new project, and assign it to the slides accordingly
Or
You can try opening the old project's library in the new project through 'External library' option and can drag and drop audio files accordingly.

Animation play wrong in Safari on Win and Mac (with link to project)

Here: http://eliteart.pro/RFGC/presentation.html project (WIP) play well in Mozilla (FF) on Win 7 and Chrome on Win 7, but play wrong on Chrome on Linux, and play wrong on Safari in PC and Mac.

Certificates don't animate in Safari, unlike Mozilla (Firefox). Red arrow show truble place.

Table borders show up with Firefox or IE but not Safari (Win or MAC)

This very simple site (http://www.brandondean.net) has two table borders that show up under FF and IE but not Safari (either Win v4.0 or Safari for MAC, same result). I'm not an expert but I did the work using Dreamweaver 2004 MX as XHTML compliant, tested every page at W3C.org to make sure they comply with XHTML, and they do (except for my not putting in "alt" on images). I even downloaded Dreamweaver CS4 to run the "clean up the code" command and nothing is fixing the problem. I'm hoping someone out there has seen this before and can help us out. Thx.

It's probably just because the border widths you are specifying are too small (or WebKit is interpreting picas differently to Firefox/IE - I say WebKit as the same problem is visible in Google Chrome and that uses WebKit like Safari as well).
Try setting using this instead:

font-variant: normal;

border: 1px solid #888888;
That seems to do the trick for Firefox and Chrome on this Linux machine I'm using at the moment.
