MS 6533 & adding 256 DDR PC2100
Hi guys, can someone help me with this RAM problem. Whan I put together this machine I installed one Crucial 256 MB DDR PC2100 chip. Then I purchased a second chip a few months later. Ahen I added the second one in the remaining slot, the machine continues to detect only 256MB, one of the two slots does not seem to be seeing the chip, because when I use either of the 2 chips in the other slot, iit works fine. Any suggestions?
you can use this one

A few months ago i've posted a combination of ddr modules on a km2m, it was nice because the two modules were from known brands such as amd and kingston, but now the story is different:
actual configuration:
athlon xp 2000+ (oc'ed up to 1925mhz)
ddr 256 pc2100U kingston CL 2.5
ddr 128 pc2100U "unknown" CL 2.5 (the amd bank was pc2700 or 333 cl 2)
mobo km2m combo-L
psu 300W unknown brand
hdd maxtor 40Gb max diamond plus 8
cdrw optorite
1 side fan 12v 18amps
2 rear fans 12v 18 amps
Ok now my problem, with the same conf as before (when using the 128 amd module), i'm getting a lot of errors in memtest86. This is the second mem module i'm testing (previous one was returned) i know it isn't a defective module so this gotta be some bios configuration or maybe the new 128 module its not as good as the 256 kingston module, but what i find more bizzare is that i ran a test over the 128 module on a pcchips mobo with a p4 and it was ok with the same conf.
Some ideas? recomended bios configuration using 1t clk?
thanks in advanceSorry for the delay to answer, i have good news and bad news, i'll tel the good ones first, my actual configuration is working ok so far with no errors:
dram clock --- 133
dram timing --- manual
dram cas latency --- 2.5 (if i change it the system is still stable but no difference)
bank interleave --- 4bank
precharge to active --- 2t
active to precharge --- 5t
active to cmd --- 2t
dram command rate --- 2t
ok that is the configuration that is actually working but the bad and sad news is that the speed has decreased for about 200Mhz (from 709Mhz to 524Mhz) so now the oc i've made has gone to hell, and the only setting that i have to change to get the 700Mhz is dram command rate but every time i do this memtest86 drops a consecutive list of at least 1200 errors in test 5 and some more in 11.
Any suggestion, please be creative :P.
Thanks in advance -
History: I have just recently sold my old 2010 Mac book Pro and kept the SSD that came with it and and currently looking to buy the 27-inch iMac and befor i buy it i was wondering if my SSD i have would work as a second HD i can add to it once i get it. I would preffer to have my Mac boot up on the SSD (and other programs) and have all my personal file (like Pictures, movies, word doc...ext) on the standered 1T HD.
This is what i am looking to get:
3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
1TB Serial ATA Drive
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
Magic Trackpad
Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (English) & User's Guide
I know i can upgrade the Memery to 16G RAM and how to do it myself. I need to know if the SSD that i have (originaly installed by Apple on my Mac book pro) will work without having problems? Also will i be able to do this myself or will i need to go to apple to open up the iMac to do it for me. if so will apple install a SSD if i bring it in or must i buy a new one with them? You asked; " if so will apple install a SSD if i bring it in or must i buy a new one with them?"
You are are going to have to ask at the store. I know here in my local area that they is one store that will do just about anything while another is not so willing to do anything with the Macs. It appears to be pretty much dependen on the Apple Store and the personal they have to do the work.

Here you can see the whole post that I've made when I was having troubles installing XP on my KM4M-V, also check that my old PSU was only 16a in 12V rail: KM4M-V Can't install...

can anyone please explain to me why this board seems to work fine with win ME loaded but has this problem with XP.
I can't be shure, but I guess that XP try to load a lot of components in memory while installing, also this can make the installation crashes because of memory is not getting enough power... That's only my guess, and I know I can be totally wrong... Any other ideas guys?
Here is a very good reading for PSU : Power Supply Guide

I recently replaced my old mb ram and processor. with a msi k7t266 pro2-a with 256 ddr pc2100 ram and a athlon xp 1800. I am now experiencing stuttering or choppyness while playing the bf 1942 demo on the ea servers but it is ok ibn the single player. I have cable internet and am playing on a t-1 server. There should be no lag so i don't think that is it. I have dled all the latest drivers for the card and such even formatting my hd trying to figure this out. I have a 64 mb nvidea gforve2 mx400. The game played fine with my old board and have no idea what to do now. Please help me i desperately need this solved.

If turning down the video details doesnt fix it, then I recomend selecting 22k modem instead of cable/dsl in the network properties. :]

Sorry but i do not understand exactly what you are saying.
Does your system post, boot and is it loading your OS ?
Why are you gessing that Bios is dead ?
Why are you mentioning Corecenter ?
Please give us some more detailed information on what exactly is going on.

256 ddr pc2100 ramHi,
Read the manual that came with your motherboard, it tells you were to connect the power button. Or, if that doesn't help you, I think you're better out turning your computer in at a service shop and let a trained technician do the work for you. 8)

I've read a lot in the forum about weak power supplies causing a lot of problems. I honestly don't know too much about PSUs, but this is what I have:
AHEAD Model SH-350 Version 2.03
350W Max
3.3V @ 28A
5V @ 32A
Combined 220W
Can somebody tell me if this is sufficient or any good? If not, any suggestions on a new one?
BTW, I've also had problems with certain games (WC3, The Sims, etc) crashing to the desktop. At the time of the problems I was running this:
Asus A7A266 MoBo
1.4 Athlon
256MB DDR PC2100
5400RPM 30Gig
DVD-Rom
CD-RW
Sound Blaster Live! Value
Radeon VE 32MB (don't worry, my TI4200 will arrive tomorrow)
Win98 SE
Under those conditions, do you think my power supply was the problem?
I am currently doing some upgrades:
120GB Maxtor 7200 8MB HDD
additional 256 DDR PC2100
48X CD-RW
MSI GF4 TI-4200 TD8X-64
WinXP Pro
Hopefully these upgrades will solve my crashing problem. But does anyone see a potential problem with my PSU after those upgrades?
Thank you for all your help!I do not have a link to the maker. I purchased my computer from CyberPower Inc. with a 350W PSU...I did not have the option of choosing a brand.
But I take it that brand is important? -
AMD 2000+ TB core & PC2100 DDR mem
I just installed an AMD XP 2000+ processor with a T-Bred core. I also installed some DDR pc2100 memory. What should I set my bios to in order to make sure this thing is running as fast as possible? Do I set the CPU FSB to 266mhz and then is there anything I need to do to make sure the RAM is running at the same speed? Lastly, the retail box the proc came in says it runs at 1.667 Ghz. WHen I check it in the Core Center, it says it's running at like 1.2xx Ghz. What gives?
Dude... thanks... that fixed like almost all of my problems. Now the bios start up screen appears and now CoreCenter reports 1.667 Ghz! Thanks again.... is there anything I need to do to my RAM now?

Hi Guys I`m a complete newb, but would love some help.
I`m thinking of buying, a new pc,
Its a pentium 4, 3.06ghz, SIS 645 chipset on a MSI 6533 motherboard, 2700 DDR ram.
But when I downloaded the motherboard manual, it says
Supports 1.5GHz, 1.6GHz, 1.7GHz, 1.8GHz, 1.9GHz, 2GHz and up.
How do I know how far up, because when I check the cpu support I get
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.4G 400 14 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.5G 400 15 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.6G 400 16 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.7G 400 17 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.8G 400 18 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 1.9G 400 19 OK
Pentium 4 Willamette 2.0G 400 20 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 1.5G 400 15 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 1.6G 400 16 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 1.7G 400 17 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 1.8G 400 18 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 1.9G 400 19 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.0G 400 20 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.1G 400 21 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.2G 400 22 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.4G 400 24 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.5G 400 25 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.6G 400 26 OK
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.26G 533 17 NO
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.4G 533 18 NO
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.53G 533 19 NO
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.66G 533 20 NO
Pentium 4 Northwood 2.8G 533 21 NO
Pentium 4 Northwood 3.06G 533 23 NO
why does it say no for everything above 2.6ghz, and no for all the 533 speed chips, is this because its a northwood chip in the test, or would you assume its not meant to support a 3.06ghz/533 speed, pentium 4 chip?
The pc store selling them said they have sold heaps, so I`m wondering if
1: they are pushing the motherboard beyond its limits
2: there is a bios update that enables it
3: or the info in the MSI CPU support has not been updated?
would appreciate any suggestions.Hi Assaf, I have spent another couple of months looking and researching,(after your advice), for the best PC to get for my money.
I have come up with this system built by RK Datastore. Could you let me know what you think please.

Hi all i am experiencing this problem on all my mainboards as described in the title, here it is:
Bios recognizes only 128 Mb of Ram no matter if they are 1 or 2 (same kind of modules), i tried BIOS update too.
The weird thing it's that it's happening on all my mainboards of this kind but when i'm trying the same memory modules on MSI VIA chipset based mainboards it all works fine.
Thank you in advance for your repliesmotherboard is MS-65663 ver 2
