MS Access 2000 and Oracle 8

Hello,
I need to provide access to a Oracle (v 8) table via MS Access 2000. I am doing so via Link Tables in MS Access.
But I am not able to see the new tables that I created, in the list of tables available for linking from the Oracle schema, in Access.
How can I rectify this?
Thank you.

I think you'd need to contact Oracle support to get access to older versions of the driver.
Since 8.0.5 isn't supported any longer, however, is it possible for you to update your Oracle client to one of the supported releases-- 8.1.7 or 9i?

  • Difference: Oracle Access Manager and Oracle Access Management

    Dear,
What is the difference between Oracle Access Manager and Oracle Access Management, both 11g
    thanks

Oracle Access Manager is the foundation(main product), of the new Oracle Access Management platform. Access Manager provides the core functionality of Web Single Sign On(SSO), authentication, authorization, centralized policy administration and agent management, real-time session management and auditing. Built as a 100% Java solution, Access Manager is extremely scalable to handle Internet scale deployments and works with existing heterogeneous environments in the enterprise with agents certified on hundreds of web servers and application servers. Access Manager provides rich functionality, extreme scalability and high availability thereby increasing security, improving user experience and productivity and enhancing compliance while reducing total cost of ownership.
Oracle Access management solution provides: Comprehensive Web Access Management, Web Single Sign-On, Identity Propagation, and Federation;Mobile and Social Sign-On;Real-time External Authorization;daptive Access and Fraud Detection
So basically one is a product and the other one is an entire solution.
    I hope this helps,

  • JDBC to access SQL server 2000 and Oracle.

    hi,
I have the following requirement. I have an oracle database which contain sql data including BLOB and CLOB. Firstly, I should migrate the data to a SQL server 2000 database. That is, i should be able to have two databases, one on oracle and the other on sql server 2000. the two databases should contain the same data, which includes BLOB data. I guess, sql server 2000 does not have a BLOB data type. What is the equivalent data type i can use to save the Oracle's BLOB data in SQL server?? Should it be image type?
After i migrate the data to the sql server 2000 database, i should be able to connect to the two databases, oracle and sql server 2000, using the same JDBC code to retrieve, insert, update and delete the data. What are the drivers that i should use. I guess, the MS JDBC driver does not support BLOB and CLOB. Is there a driver that can support BLOB for sql server 2000 and is also free???!
    Kindly help... Thanks.
    Arthi.

    Hi,
I am new to jdbc... so, pls forgive my ignorance...
I shall try to map a BLOB data column in oracle to an IMAGE data column in sql server 2000. I am using oracle jdbc driver and microsoft's jdbc driver for connecting to the databases.
My question is, can i use setBlob() method in the preparedstatement in jdbc code for setting data to the sql server 2000 image column?
rs.getBlob() and preparedstatement.setBlob()code works fine for oralce's BLOB column using oracle's jdbc driver.... Will the same jdbc code work for sql server 2000's image column using microsoft's jdbc driver??
    Kindly help.
    Arthi.

  • Hetrogenous join: ms access local and oracle on server

    Hello
I want to know if it is possible to join tables from a local client ms access db and an oracle db on a server. I have used the link feature in ms access and the hsodbc feature of oracle, but the ms access db is local and the oracle is not. Is there anyway that I can control the local access db from a link from the oracle db on the remote server?
    Thanx

There is no such facility as of now to acces Oracle table from DB2 database or anything.
You can spool the data into flat file for MS access table and import that data into
    Oracle table.

  • Windows 2000 and Oracle 8i (8.1.6) In stall problem

    Hi,
I have installed oracle 8i on a windows 2000 server. I have problem configuring a client machine to access the oracle database using service names.
I configured the service name using net8 assistant. When I try to access the database it gives me a TNS:Protocol Adapter error.(ORa 12560).
I spoke to some dba and they said its windows 2000 problem.
I did not have problems configuring a service name from the same client machine to a oracle database installed on windows NT(service pack 5).
I am able to access the database on windows 2000 through sql plus/other oracle application after I configured a service name using TCP/IP protocol.
I also able to access oracle databases installed on other windows nT machine from the Windows 2000 server client apps.
    any suggestions ?
    Thanks

I got problems in installing Oracle 7.3 or Oracle 7.4 in Windows 2000 platform.
When you spoke about "new version or another version of Oracle Installer", did you refer to an upgrade version of Oracle 7.x or

  • MS Access 2000 and 2002

i need to use java to access a MS Access database, locally and remotely. is the bridge better with 97, 2000, or 2002? or will i need to use something other than the bridge? also can i use PC Anywhere to access this database remotely? TIA.

There are plenty of MS Access drivers available. See
    http://industry.java.sun.com/products/jdbc/drivers
Or you can use an ODBC driver with the JDBC-ODBC bridge, if the database is local. Don't know what "better with 97, 2000, or 2002?" could mean.
You can use PC Anywhere to access another computer running your Java class. You can't use it in place of a JDBC driver, if that's what you meant.

Is there something to do with windows 2003 or corrupted oledb driver or windows service packs.
    Please advice

    Hi amy2ki
I had the same problem and solved it.
It seems that this issue is related to security settings on ORACLE_HOME folder.
You must force Read&Execute rights on ORACLE_HOME folder for "Authenticated Users" and propagate them below.
    Check this note on :
    http://www.google.com/notebook/public/01335025009615452606/BDRwbSwoQnIbT6rQh
    Shortly, the steps are:
Oracle Client software requires that you give the Authenticated User
privilege to the Oracle Home by following these steps:
    1. Log on to Windows as a user with Administrator privileges.
    2. Launch Windows Explorer from the Start Menu and and navigate to the
    ORACLE_HOME folder. This is typically...
    - the "Ora92" folder under the "Oracle" folder
    (i.e. D:\Oracle\Ora92) in Oracle9iR2
    or
    - the "Client_1" folder under the "Oracle\product\10.1.0" folder
    (i.e. D:\Oracle\product\10.1.0\Client_1) in Oracle10gR1
    or
    - the "Db_1" folder under the "Oracle\product\10.1.0" folder
    (i.e. D:\Oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1) in Oracle10gR1
    3. Right-click on the ORACLE_HOME folder and choose the "Properties" option
from the drop down list. A "Properties" window should appear.
    4. Click on the "Security" tab of the "Properties" window.
NOTE: If you are running Windows XP and do not have a "Security" tab
    please do the following:
    (a) Open "Folder Options" in your Control Panel.
    (b) Choose the "View" tab.
    (c) Under "Advanced Settings" uncheck the option "Use simple file
    sharing (Recommended)".
The "Security" tab should now be available.
    5. Click on "Authenticated Users" item in the "Name" list (on Windows XP
the "Name" list is called "Group or user names").
    6. Uncheck the "Read and Execute" box in the "Permissions" list under the
"Allow" column (on Windows XP the "Permissions" list is called
    "Permissions for Authenticated Users").
    7. Re-check the "Read and Execute" box under the "Allow" column (this is
    the box you just unchecked).
    8. Click the "Advanced" button and in the "Permission Entries" list make
sure you see the "Authenticated Users" listed there with:
    Permission = Read & Execute
Apply To = This folder, subfolders and files
If this is NOT the case, edit that line and make sure the "Apply onto"
drop-down box is set to "This folder, subfolders and files". This
should already be set properly but it is important that you verify this.
    9. Click the "Ok" button until you close out all of the security properties
windows. The cursor may present the hour glass for a few seconds as it
applies the permissions you just changed to all subfolders and files.
    10. You must REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER to assure that these changes have taken
effect. Failure to do this can prevent this procedure from working!
    11. Re-execute the application and it should now work.
NOTE: If the problem is still present after following steps 1-11 and
rebooting your computer in step 10 you should perform the following
two additional permissions settings at step 8 as described below.
This may be necessary due to permissions that have been configured
beyond the standard permissions setup when the OS was originally
    installed:
    12. If the problem is still present, go back through these same 11 steps
above, but when performing step 8 additionally check both boxes entitled
"Inherit from parent the permission entries that apply to child
objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here."
    AND
"Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown
here that apply to child objects"
AND be sure to reboot in step 10.
Hope it helps, it worked perfectly for me.

  • MS Access 2010 and Oracle SQL Developer Version 4.0.3.16 Error

    OS: Windows 7 Enterprise
    System Type: 64-bit Operating System
I can not get MS Access 2010 to work/open with SQL Developer version 4.0.3.16.
ERROR when testing connection to MS Access 2010
"Status : Failure -Test failed: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified"
I added the 32-bit ODBC data source for the MS Access I am trying to use with SQL Developer version 4.0.3.16 with the "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe" application, but I still get the same error.
I appears that SQL Developer version 4.0.3.16.is looking at the 64-bit driver (ODBC Data Source) and I have no idea to direct SQL Developer version 4.0.3.16 to use the 32-bit driver (ODBC Data Source) when opening MS Access 2010.
Thank you in advance for your advice.

I downloaded the SQL Developer version 4.0.3.16 "sqldeveloper-4.0.3.16.84-x64.zip" that included the jre.
How do I check which Java JDK I am running (32-bit versuns 64-bit)?
In the command prompt I use "java -version" and I get this message "java is not recognized as an internal or external command"

  • Connectivity between sql server 2000 and oracle 9i

    Hi friends....
i am developing application in which i require some data from sql server2000 tables...
tell me how i can establish connection in between these 2 database and how can i transfer specific rows to oracle....tell me how it is possible to writting stored procedures in sql....or procedures in oracle.....i used DTS (data transfer scheme) but it transfer whole database ot table...but i want to transfer only specific rows in table...
    help me out from it?
    thanx in advance...

There are a number of ways...
You can certainly use DTS to extract a subset of rows and move them to Oracle. You'll need to define the WHERE clause when defining your DTS steps.
You can use Oracle Heterogeneous Connectivity to create a database link to SQL Server from Oracle and pull the data over via straight SQL, i.e.
    INSERT INTO local_table
SELECT * FROM remote_table@sql_server_dblink WHERE extract_conditionYou can do a similar thing in SQL Server where you use linked servers to connect to Oracle from SQL Server and push the data
This list can go on, but these should get you started.
