MS Project 2007 files crash after converting to .PDF files

Need some help. Currently I create complex projects schedules (3-7 pages in length) and then convert to a .PDF thru Adobe Acrobat 8.1STD and although it takes a little bit, it does create the .PDF file. However when I open in Adobe Reader and try to scroll pages, it crashes and closes out Adobe completely without any error message after about 5-10 seconds. I run MS Office 2007 Small Business and all other conversions in Excel and Word are working just fine, it is only between these two software packages. Any Suggestions??
Thanks

Dear Tom Stangler
I have used Adobe Acrobat Distiller for printing MS text files, MS PPT files for conversion into PDF.
Excel files cannot be converted, as it looses its Cell Properties, no matter which convertor you use.
However, MS Excel files can be safely embedded in Adobe PDF format using Adobe Acrobat attachment tool, wherein you can edit it, and save also.
Adobe Distiller has options for ebook, print, screen functions. It hence requires to be edited for appropriate conversions.
Since these adjustments are rather cumbersome, I exclusively use
'Cute PDF writer 2.6' Freeware which comes along with Ghostscript convertor, does excellent job of easy convertions without any errors at all. It is very user friendly. Printing any number of pages for conversion int PDF is no problem at all.

Adobe Media Encoder will always crash after converting a few files, or even before starting to convert.
    I'm on a Windows 7 professional  SP1 (64bit), Intel Xeon w3550 3.07Ghz with an NVidia Quadro FX 3800.
The encoding profile is H264, multiplexing mp4, encoder: Video MainConcept H.264, tv standard: pal, bitrate encoding: cbr, key frames distance 72.
I'm using watch folders, since I have a backup of hundreds of video files stored in folders which have to be restored in the same folders once converted.
This is the crash entry in the event viewer (had to translate it, since it's in italian):

  • Error opening a Microsoft Project 2007 file

I am receiving an error when trying to open a Project 2007 file.  There is no error code.  The error says "The operation cannot be completed because the source file contains invalid project data or the total number of rows would exceed the limit
of 1,048,000 rows in a project."

    Here's one suggestion
If you can't even open the file you may be out of luck. With Project
active but no projects open, try turning off automatic calculation
(Tools/Options/Calculation tab). You may get lucky and then be able to
open the file. If you can, first look for links on summary lines since
they are the most prominent cause for circular relationships. Remove
links and summary lines and then turn calculation back on. If that
solves the problem, you might be OK. If that doesn't solve the problem,
follow the steps in FAQ 43 - File Bloat? Might be corruption, which you
can find on our MVP website at:
    http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm.
If none of the above works, you might try sorting by Unique ID.
Sometimes an inadvertent keystroke can create a rogue task that is way
out in left field. If there is a blank task name for the highest Unique
ID, then delete that task and see if that helps.
    =======
    And some more
First I suggest installing SP-1 if you have not already.
Then try method 4 from FAQ 43 at
    http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm. If
you cannot open the file, methods 1,2, and 3 are not available. Method
2 also only works with versions 2003 and earlier.
Neither are a guarantee of course.
You may need to resort to a backup copy of the file.
I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

  • Border became thicker after converting to pdf

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional. I converted an excel sheet which consist of text, number, colored border (thin border). After converting to pdf, I have found that all the borders in the pdf file which i just created become thicker. I would like to have everything same as i do the print preview in excel. Could you please advice what are the posible problems and how to get this fixed? I am using both excel 2007 and 2003.
Thanks you very much for your time.

I converted it to pdf so I could fly it into Photoshop and change the resolution to 350 (I wish i could just do this in pages...it is a print design program right?
Adobe Photoshop is a colour correction and colour composition tool for professional photographers. You edit the pixel values of your photographs in this tool.
When you are done editing the pixel values, you embed the ICC RGB working space into your image, and place your image e.g. in TIFF file format into a pagination tool.
Apple Pages is a pagination tool, whether you work in continuous colum mode (typewriter style) or in area composition mode (typesetter style).
You use a pagination tool in area composition mode to
    a. create frames for area composition,
    b. flow text into the frames,
    c. format the text with a typographic appearance.
You use a pagination tool in area separation mode to
    a. create frames for area separation,
    b. import ICC color managed raster images e.g. in TIFF format into the frames,
    c. import ICC colour managed vector formats e.g. PDF format into the frames.
You then either stream directly to a printing device in
    a. Adobe PostScript, or
    b. Hewlett-Packard Printer Command Language
Or you save to disk for offline or online distribution in
    a. Adobe Portable Document Format.
It has been possible to open PDF in Adobe Illustrator since version 6, if memory serves, and newer versions of Adobe Photoshop are also able to open PDF. There are a range of reasons for wanting to do this, one of which is to rasterise the PDF at a specified resolution. It is more difficult to open a PDF for the purpose of editing it, since in PostScript and in PDF the structure information in the form of blank spaces (kerning spaces, word spaces, spaces between columns) may be represented as move to commands.

  • Error opening Project 2007 file after using project 2010

This is the second time I'm experiencing this problem.
Created a file (say Rev 1) in Project 2007 at work and took it home and updated it using Project 2010. When I finished updating using Project 2010, I saved the file in Project 2007 format. Came to work the next day, opened the file using
Project 2007 and did a "Save As" so that I have another revision of the file (Rev 2).
After updating Rev 2 in Project 2007 I closed it but when I came to work the next day I couldn't open Rev 2 file again either in Project 2007 or 2010. This has happened to me with 2 different files.

  • Poor jpeg quality after converting from pdf.

I am trying to make a book video out of a collection of pdf files in Premiere Elements 11. Apparently Premiere does not take pdfs so I converted the pdfs to jpegs via Photoshop CS5. When I try to run the video the quality of the images is horrible - very pixalated and some of the text is unreadable. Even though Photoshop psd files are said to be useable I get the same results. Rendering did nothing. Help?

    ksreid
What are the pixel dimensions of your jpegs?
    For now, I will assume 1920 x 1080 pixels.
In Premiere Elements 11 Expert workspace, go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
In the Change Settings area, change the project preset to:
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR [email protected]
After OK'ing the above, you will see the New Project dialog displaying your project preset.
Make sure that there is a check mark next to the option "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project" in the New Project dialog, and
    then OK out of there.
Back in the Premiere Elements 11 Expert workspace, use Add Media/Files and Folders/ to get your source files
into Project Assets from where you drag the source files to the Timeline. Render the Timeline content and
determine if the quality of that content playback in the Edit area monitor is improved in comparison to your prior projects.
You might also explore applying fx Effects/Blur & Sharpen/Sharpen (just a little) to the Timeline content.
What is your intended export for your Timeline content?
Please review and consider and then let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • Crashed when converting to PDFs

I'm a library user .And we  have large numbers of TIFs & JPGs  to convert to PDFs by Acrobat X Pro.
But after I run the action to all these files. The Temp file is becoming larger and larger in disk C.At last it crashed because there is not enough space in my system disk. Do you have any solution to make it more efficient. Thank you very much.

You have to use the PDF Maker plugin in OFFICE 2003 to get the links embedded correctly. Otherwise, Acrobat is simply trying to estimate the link when it sees one.

  • Using Word doc after converting from PDF

I have just purchased Adobe Export PDF purely to complete a Job Aaplication form in Word rather than PDF but the Word document does not allow me to edit it properly - i.e. I cannot expand the text boxes to make them bigger and when I try to add in information like my name and the post I'm applying for, it moves existing text from the original PDF doc onto different lines. I assumed once I'd converted it I could use it like a normal Word doc but it seems not. Please advise what I'm doing wrong, thank you.

    Hi Disc9,
In order to help you. Let me know which application of Adobe you are using including the version.
Also let me know the complete workflow how you convert the PDF to docx/doc.

AA STD 8.1.2 Correction, I do not have Reader (Only other Adobe products are Adobe Flash Player ActiveX and Adobe Shockwave Player) on my PC but when I open the PDF it does open in AA STD 8.1.2. Also, have tried this on other PC;s and same problem occurs and we e-mail these PDF's to our consultants and they are having the same problem whereby they are unable to scroll view thru the document/PDF and unable to print it out on their end.

  • Safari crash after opening a PDF file

For the past week or so, everytime a link leads to a PDF file, Safari loads the file and then immediately crashes. I have checked my disk, verified and fixed any permissions, etc. but the problem persists. Although I checked the "report" button when I got the message from the OS, I have not heard back from anyone.
Has anyone else experienced such a behavior? I suspect that it is not related to Safari, but rather to Adobe Acrobat, since I always have a similar experience when Adobe tries to look for updates. The Adobe Update Manager crashes the minute it is launched. I have even tried to udate my Acrobat 7.0 for some new patches but I cannot get to them fo some reason or another, mostly because the Adobe system seems to be down for maintenance most of the time. I saw that one of the updates is marked "critical".
I have saved the "log file" after the last crash, about an hour ago (if that helps anyone).
    Thanks for any hints.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Apple does not respond to submitted crash reports. Rather, they are used for software development purposes. Best thing to do in this forum is to copy/paste a copy of the entire report to your reply in this thread.
If you see a relationship between the Adobe crashes and Safari opening a PDF file, then go to Adobe Acrobats preference file>Internet and designate Apple's "Preview" as your PDF reader. Then, go to the Finder and move to your desktop your Adobe Reader plug-in from your Internet Plug-ins folder either the main or user library). Restart Safari and try a PDF (it ought to now open within the browser). If Safari does not crash, then yes, the problem lies with Adobe. Something you can take up in one of Adobe's own forums.

  • Graphic graining after converting to pdf from Powerpoint 2007

I have a user, using Windows XP, Office 2007, Acrobat 8.1 Standard & Distiller 8. When she is in Powerpoint working on a slide her graphic looks fine. Once she hits Acrobat on her toolbar, then Create a PDF, it converts over to a pdf and her graphic looks grainy. Like some of the color is gone-not completely filled in like it was before in the lettering. Can someone please help with this, I've been researching for a while now and can't find a solution.

Sorry, all out of ideas. She may just have to live with it. The only think I can think of is a compatibility between the resolutions selected in the WORD doc and the storage to PDF. Generally PDFs do not change the resolution of a graphic unless you ask for the compression (that is part of the graphics management in the settings file with Std have a lot of compression). It may be that properly adjusting the resolution of the graphic in the PPT doc would change the issue. A lot of folks have a habit of just copying a graphic into PPT without changing the resolution to an appropriate dpi. You might try saving any graphics to a different format and insert in PPT again. Also, be aware that OFFICE 2007 does some conversions to imported images that may also be an issue (at least with DOCX and related files, not the DOC versions). I am not sure that might be an affect. You might going to a PPT 2003 compatible format and try the graphics again - I have gotten some differences (I have no clue why).
The only other thing that you might do would be to post the copies somewhere, both of a sample PPT or PPTX and a sample PDF. You may have to post a new topic since this one is so far back in the queue. I was just drifting back over old posts and noted your item. Bill

  • LiveCyle 8.2, WinXP SP2 - LC crashes after creating bloated pdf file

Last night, while cleaning up a form, and taking out code like debugging app.alerts, LiveCycle ballooned the form file size from 13MB to 52MB!
This morning, when I opened the file and made any modifications and then saved it, LC crashed with a Visual C runtime error, which wiped out the form file, leaving a 0 byte file. I'm hosed on all the work I did since as soon as I load the .bak file, rename and save it, as soon as I modify the newly named file, it crashes again.
I have the DRWatson dump files for the crash. How do I bring this to the attention of Adobe? The bloating of the form is problematic since it leaves the form too big to email, but the crash is scary.

Can you save the form as a PDF and send it to [email protected] ... I think I know what is happening.
