  • ODI + MS SQL SERVER 2005 + Inet Driver

    Hello,
    I have serious problem with my Inet Driver and SQL SERVER 2005.
    I use this driver for time but since we have migrated our SQL SERVER 2000 on 2005 no data are transmitted when source and target are on distinct server.
    In using the Microsoft JDBC driver all work fine but the performance are worst than before with the Inet one.
    One of the solution proposed is to upgrade the iNet driver but before paying the upgrade I would like to know if someone use an Inet driver with SQL SERVER 2005 succesfully.
    Thanks in advance
    BM

    Hello Cezar,
    Hope you're good, cause I am...
    For this driver I have download the trial version but the driver is limited to 3 connexions.
    So 1 for the Master, 1 for the Work and 1 for the Source or Target and I need one more so I wasn't able to test what I need ):
    The Inet one I'm using give me better performance than the microsoft one but I'm limited on working on the same physical server cause else I never retrieve data ):
    So once my other tests complete I will update this post to let you know (;
    Thanks again for your answer, you're the better (;

  • Can't Uninstall SQL Server 2005 Express Tools

    I am attempting to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Trial and receive the follow error during installation.
    "The SQL Server 2005 Express Tools are installed. To continue, remove the SQL Server 2005 Express Tools."
    I have used Add or Remove programs to remove all components of SQL Server 2005 Express.  I have even reinstalled the Workstation Tools of SQL Server 2005 just so I could indiviually remove those tools, and then completly removed the SQL 2005 installation.
    I have used regedit to search for any instance of SQL Server 2005, there is none.
    There is still an entry for SQL Server Mangement Express in my all programs listing.  However trying to launch that program fails with errors, so it is partial still installed.
    Can anyone tell me how to wipe out these last bits of SQL Server 2005 Express Tools?  I have tried everything I have found searching this forum to no avail.
    Bill

    Renaming or deleting the registry key was the only solution for me. It is not eough to rename a sub-key, I found you must rename or remove the key at the level of "\90"
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90
    I have not tried every permutation but these are the previous steps in order that were NOT helpful.
    Sometimes it is good to know what has been tried and does not work, so you do not spend time in dead ends.
    These do NOT work
    1. resolution at this link did not work for me although it worked for that person
    "rename registry key "
    http://jasonfollas.com/blog/archive/2008/06/19/sql-server-2008-rc0-install-sql2005ssmsexpressfacet.aspx
    rename key from: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\ShellSEM
    to: ShellSEM.old
    (If I had renamed \90 it might have succeeded)
    2. solution at this link did not work for me although it worked for that person
    "changing the Regional Settings of my computer"
    http://www.kodyaz.com/blogs/software_development_blog/archive/2008/02/22/840.aspx
    3. reset.cmd
    download and execute reset.cmd to reset many registry settings
    Nope, no luck
    4. download entire 2008 express package as an ISO file in the small chance any previous files were corrupted.
    The ISO image was 744 meg, which can only be burned onto a double-layer disk.
    Then I remembered I don't have a double-layer burner.
    Duh.
    5. removing 3rd party tools
    - Remove SQL Server 2005 Express Tools
    - Remove Red-Gate SQL Prompt if installed.
    http://blog.crowe.co.nz/archive/2008/08/14/quotThe-SQL-Server-2005-Express-Tools-are-installed.-To-continue.aspx
    mainly because neither were actually listed in add/remove programs, nor was Red Gate in the registry
    (or redgate, red-gate, red_gate)
    6. "Solving setup errors by using the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissions"
    http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/739820.aspx
    7. rename the instance of SQL Server 2008 when installing
    Nope.
    8. With Add/remove programs, remove
    - sql server 2005
    - anything else that had in the title "sql server 2005"
    - sql server system clr types (which sounded sort of like a 3-rd party tool and I had not used it in a year)
    - remove folder
    c:\program files\microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server90
    Nope, no luck
    10. With a Microsoft tool "Windows Install Clean Up" inspect any add/remove programs that were removed and absolutely remove their install logs
    Nope.  So it was not due to any residual information from SQL Server 2005
    11. With Add/remove programs, remove
    - anything that has the title sql server 2008
    and try to re-install, which did not work.
    Finally found this thread and deleted the key and the installation succeeded.
    It did not take 2 days, but almost.
    This is a test, right? We have to navigate all the half-good information and actually succeed installing SQL Server 2008 then we earn the privilege to use it?  Yay!

  • I plan to upgrade the SSRS 2005 SP2 enterprise edition in our internal web server to 2005 SP4, the Reporting server database is hosted in another sql server in sql server 2005 SP4. Do I need to do anything on the reporting server database side?

    My question is what the steps do I need to take to upgrade SSRS from 2005 SP2 to SP4.  The web server that host the SSRS is in 2005 SP2, and the OS is in window 2003.
    Our SSRS report server and report server database are in different servers.  The SSRS in the web server is in 2005 SP2 enterprise edition, the report server database is in sql server 2005 SP4 enterprise edition.
    To upgrade the SSRS in web server from 2005 sp2 to sp4, do I need to backup/restore the encryption key?  Nothing will be changed in the report server database.  We will still pointing to the same database in the current server, all
    I wanted to do is performing a inplace upgrade of SSRS from 2005 SP2 to SP4.
    Any response will be greate appreciated.  Thank you!
    Li-hui Chen

    Hi Lihui Chen,
    According to your description, you want to install the Services Pack 4 for SQL Server. Right?
    In SQL Server, Services Packs are used for fixing issues of current version product. It's not an Upgrade, you don't have to backup/restore your encryption key. You just need to download the Service Pack 4 on:
    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 RTM  . Please make sure you have administrative rights on the computer to install SQL Server 2005 SP4. For more information, see links below:

    Hi Gun77 !
    As i knew, ODBC Generic Connectivity Agent is an API which use for connect other RDBMS. Don't care cost because it's free.
    In other way, u can use Oracle Generic Connectivity Agent to any DB (SQL server, MySQL,…)
    Download the orajdbclink_o2a.zip (oracle-to-any) file:
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=205664
    u can see detail in this link:

    Hi Timo,
    My jdev version is 10.1.3.3.0, this is for R12. By PR i mean to say process request and PFR process form request in the controller.
    In the Process request of the controller, i am finding the checkbox bean and assigning the firepartialaction for it.
    Later in the process form request for the fired event, i am trying to handle the rendered property of the messagetextinput. Is this a right approach?
    my code below
    public void processRequest(OAPageContext oapagecontext, OAWebBean oawebbean)
    super.processRequest(oapagecontext, oawebbean);
    OAApplicationModule oaapplicationmodule = oapagecontext.getApplicationModule(oawebbean);
    OAMessageCheckBoxBean oamessagecheckboxbean = (OAMessageCheckBoxBean)oawebbean.findChildRecursive("X_FLAG");
    if(oamessagecheckboxbean != null)
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "Message check box Bean found:", 1);
    FirePartialAction firepartialaction = new FirePartialAction("change");
    oamessagecheckboxbean.setAttributeValue(PRIMARY_CLIENT_ACTION_ATTR, firepartialaction);
    oamessagecheckboxbean.setFireActionForSubmit("change", null, null, true);
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "setting fire event", 1);
    public void processFormRequest(OAPageContext oapagecontext, OAWebBean oawebbean)
    super.processFormRequest(oapagecontext, oawebbean);
    oapagecontext.writeDiagnostics(this, "Inside Process Form Request", 1);
    if("change".equals(oapagecontext.getParameter(OAWebBeanConstants.EVENT_PARAM)))
    OAMessageTextInputBean bean = (OAMessageTextInputBean)oawebbean.findChildRecursive("X_NUMBER");
    if(bean!=null){

  • Oracle provider Issue in SQL Server 2005

    Hi all,
    On the dev server, I'm using SSAS 2005 (32-bytes) + Oracle provider for OLE DB to access my Oracle Database and it works perfectly.
    On the production server, SSAS 2005 is running on a 64-bytes platform.
    The Oracle client 10.2.0.1.0 (64 bits) has been installed containing the Oracle provider for OLE DB but unfortunately the Oracle provider for OLE DB does not appear in the list in BIDS when trying to create a date source.
    Could someone help ?
    Regards,
    Juan

    After much grief I figured this out and this works for me going from x64 sql 05 on windows server 2003 to x86 oracle 10g on another windows server 2003 box...
    Software Prerequisites
    •     x64 Oracle Client:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201winx64soft.html
    •     x64 Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/64-bit/index.html
    •     x86 Oracle Client:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201winsoft.html
    •     SQL Server 2005 SP2 (x64):
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=D07219B2-1E23-49C8-8F0C-63FA18F26D3A&displaylang=en
    Patch Level Required (As of Thursday, July 31, 2008):
    •     Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio: 9.00.3042.00
    •     Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools: 2005.090.3042.00
    •     Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC): 2000.086.3959.00 (srv03_sp2_rtm.070216-1710)
    •     Microsoft MSXML: 2.6 3.0 4.0 6.0
    •     Microsoft Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.13
    •     Microsoft .NET Framework: 2.0.50727.42
    •     Operating System: 5.2.3790
    •     Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC): 10.2.0.3.00 (64-bit Oracle10g Release 2 ODAC for Windows x64)
    1. install the x64 and x86 oracle clients on the mssql box
    2. install the odac on the mssql
    3. Verify that the registry settings at
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSDTC\MTxOCI and
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MSDTC\MTxOCI
    are correct:
    a.     OracleOciLib = oci.dll
    b.     OracleSqlLib = orasql10.dll
    c.     OracleXaLib = oraclient10.dll
    4. Verify that your tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files have the correct info to connect to the source Oracle 10g (x86) 32 bit source. Note if there is a DNS or other name resolution problem in the environment you may need to change your host entry in your tnsnames file to be the actual I.P. address of the source Oracle box, until the network issue is resolved by the applicable environments network engineer. Additionally, note that if your client tnsnames.ora file is not configured to match the network topology in use, you will have issues… loopback configurations particularly cause grief.
    5. Update Machine.config Add the following binding policy:
    <runtime>
    <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
    <dependentAssembly>
    <assemblyIdentity name="Oracle.DataAccess" publicKeyToken="89b483f429c47342" />
    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="2.0.0.0-10.9.9.9" newVersion="2.102.3.2" />
    </dependentAssembly>
    </assemblyBinding>
    </runtime>
    6. Save the following as a *.reg file and run it...
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MSDTS\Setup\WizardPath]
    @="C:\\Progra~2\\Microsoft SQL Server\\90\\DTS\\Binn\\DTSWizard.exe"
    7. Save the following as a *.bat file...
    rem Progra~2 is short path name for "Program Files (x86)" and works around an Oracle client bug that doesn't like the ()'s in the path
    start /B "C:\Progra~2\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE" "C:\Progra~2\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe"
    8. Save the following as a *.bat file...
    start /B "C:\Progra~2\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE" "C:\Progra~2\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\SqlWb.exe"
    9. Create a shortcut that points to each of the batch files you just created and only launch BIDS or SSMS from those *.bat files...
    10. create your packages, etc., as normal, but you will not be able to fully test them from BIDS or SSMS because they are 32 bit running in 64 bit o/s...
    11. Create a job with a line similar to the following as a cmdexec type of job...
    "C:\Progra~2\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Binn\DTExec.exe" /FILE "C:\SomeWidget.dtsx" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF
    12. your done...

  • Reading BLOB from SQL Server 2005 using DB Link from Oracle 10g

    Hi All,
    I am trying to read a table's data from SQL Server 2005 using ODBC DB Link created in Oracle 10g (10.2.0.3/4) database. I am not using oracle gateway.
    I am able read all data except for the BLOB data from SQL server 2005. It gives error given below when I try to execute query SELECT * from T_TRANSACTION_DATA@sdeslink inside a stored procedure:
    ORA-22992: cannot use LOB locators selected from remote tables
    Kindly help how to read BLOB from SQL server 2005 inside Oracle 10g.
    Best Regards!
    Irfan

    Irfan,
    If you can read the blob data using 10.2 HSODBC then there should be no problem using the 11g gateway.
    I recommend you download the latest version which is 11.2.0.3 available from My oracle Support as -
    Patch 10404530: 11.2.0.3.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER
    This is a full version and does not need a previous version to have bene installed. When installing it needs to be in a completlely separate ORACLE_HOME from the existing 11.2 install.
    For the Ora-22992 problem have a look at this note in My Oracle Support -
    Ora-22992 has a workaround in 10gR2 (Doc ID 436707.1)

  • Changes required to switch from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005?

    I'm converting a legacy app from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005.  The app is written in VB6 and utilizes CR 8 OCX.  When I invoke a report from VB I'm getting Error# 20599 Cannot open SQL server.  I redefined the ODBC DSN specifying Windows Authentication, and the SQL Server instance supports mixed mode.
    Searching for the error, I found an article that suggests I need p2sodbc8.zip, but I can't find a link to it in the Downloads area.
    Would greatly appreciate any help at all - including a link to p2sodbc8.zip if that's the likely resolution.
    Thanks in advance,
    Pete

    Hi Peter,
    As you are having issue with SDK's.
    I would suggest you to post your question in
    Business Objects SDK Application Development » [Legacy Application Development SDKs|;
    That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there. Also, all  SDK queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
    Thank you for your understanding,

  • How do I install the jdbc driver for sql server 2005, in sql developer 4.0 ?

    Hallo together
    I need access to tables in a MS SQL Server 2005 database.
    One possibility is the JDBC driver.
    How do i install this driver ?
    Thank you very much for your postings.

    Hi,
      This is from the documentation -
    Database: Third Party JDBC Drivers
    The Third Party JDBC Drivers pane specifies drivers to be used for connections to third-party (non-Oracle) databases, such as IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase Adaptive Server. (You do not need to add a driver for connections to Microsoft Access databases.) To add a driver, click Add Entry and select the path for the driver:
    For Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server: jtds-1.2.jar, which is included in the jtds-1.2-dist.zip download
    To find a specific third-party JDBC driver, see the appropriate website (for example, http://www.mysql.com for the MySQL Connector/J JDBC driver for MySQL, http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ for the jTDS driver for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server, or search at http://www.teradata.com/ for the JDBC driver for Teradata). For MySQL, use the MySQL 5.0 driver, not 5.1 or later, with SQL Developer release 1.5.
    You must specify a third-party JDBC driver or install a driver using the Check for Updates feature before you can create a database connection to a third-party database of that associated type. (See the tabs for creating connections to third-party databases in the Create/Edit/Select Database Connection dialog box.)
    Alternative:
    As an alternative to using this preference, you can click Help, then Check for Updates to install the JTDS JDBC Driver for Microsoft SQL Server and the MySQL JDBE Driver as extensions.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • Error deploying JDBC driver for SQL Server 2005

    Hi all
    I'm trying to deploy a JDBC driver for MS SQL Server 2005 (downloaded [here|http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=C47053EB-3B64-4794-950D-81E1EC91C1BA&displaylang=en]). When I try to deploy it according to the instructions found [here|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/51/735d4217139041e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm] it fails.
    The error in the logs doesn't give any useful information though. It only says Error occurred while deploying component ".\temp\dbpool\MSSQL2005.sda".
    Has anyone else deployed a driver for SQL Server 2005, or perhaps have any suggestions of what else I could try?
    Thanks
    Stuart

    Hi Vladimir
    That's excellent news! Thanks for the effort you've put into this. I'm very impressed with how seriously these issues are dealt with, specifically within the Java EE aspects of SAP.
    May I make two suggestions on this topic:
    1. Given that NWA has such granular security permissions, please could the security error be shown when it is raised? This would help immediately identify that the problem isn't actually a product error, but rather a missing security permission (and thus save us time and reduce your support calls).
    2. Please could the role permissions be clearly documented (perhaps they already are, and I just couldn't find the docs?) so we know what is and isn't included in the role. The name is very misleading, as a "superadmin" is generally understood to have no limitation on their rights - so clear documentation on what is in-/excluded would be most helpful.
    On a related topic, I came across another issue like this that may warrant your attention (while you're already looking into NWA security issues). I logged a support query about it (ref: 0120025231 0000753421 2008) in case you can retrieve details there (screenshots, logs, etc.). It's basically a similar security constraint when trying to create a Destination. I'm not sure if this is something you would like to include as standard permissions within the NWA_SUPERADMIN role or not, but I think it's worth consideration.
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Upgrade to SQL Server 2005 media

    I am trying to find out if SAP provides a DVD with the SQL Server 2005 software for upgrade/installation as it did for 2000.  I have found references in notes to using the DVD provided by SAP and a SQL4SAP vb script to run to do the install.  And in other docs I see references to using the setup.exe provided on the media disk (I'm assuming here it is the MS media for SQL Server).
    Is there a SAP disk for upgrading SQL Server?  If so where can I find it.
    If I can't locate this are there any issues to be aware of if I use the MS provided install disks for SQL Server 2005 to perform an upgrade?
    Thanks
    Laurie

    Hi Laurie,
    DVD 51032641 is the SQL 2005 installation DVD for SAP.
    You cannot download it from service.sap.com, you have to order SAP standard software (SAP NetWeaver, SAP ERP, etc).
    Best regards,
    Victor
