MSI Z77A-G45 Boot Loop problem

Hi,
I recently built my computer 2-3 months ago. It worked fine until a couple days ago it started boot looping. It doesn't even get to BIOS. I think it's my motherboard gone bad. I switched CPU and memory with another computer and it works fine but when i put it in my computer it boot loops again. before i go through this whole warranty ordeal does anyone have any ideas i could try? Thanks!

what you have described is usually either a Bad Motherboard or a Inadequate/overstressed PSU! so the components list of what you used to build the system is Very important to determine what exactly has gone wrong.

MSI Z77A G45 boot loop

Hi everyone!
I just tried to flash my MSI Z77A G45 today from the bios version 2.1 to 2.A.
I had blackscreens all the time when i tried to flash it with the M-FLASH utility from my bios.
Then everything just started normaly (after each blackscreen), but there wasn't any update, i tried to force the update with LiveUpdate.
And now when i try to start the computer, i just get a blackscreen (no signal for the monitor) and a boot loop.
It just stops and reboot after 10s.
My hardware is working perfectly, i think this is from a corrupted bios issue.
Which things i tried:
- Doing a clear CMOS (nothing happens)
- Removing the CMOS battery for 10 minutes (the reboot loop stopped, but there was not any display, i restarted the PC then and the reboot loop started again)
- Cleaning my PC (from dust and things like that), it was not efficient at all
- Booting from a USB key with the bios in, and formated as FAT32, nothing happens too. It doesn't recognize the USB key and anything else (keypad etc.) so the blackscreen was there again.
My Hardware:
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570 3.4 Ghz
Motherboard: MSI Z77A G45
GPU: None (Intel graphics 4000)
RAM: 2x4Gb Corsair Vengeance
HDD: Crucial M4 SSD 64Gb
Power supply: Corsair 850W
Do you think that i need to send my mother board back to the RMA?

MSI Z77A - G45 - CPU multiplier problem

Hi,
I recently bought this PC:
Intel Core i5 3570 k
MSI Z77A - G45 - with BIOS V 2.5
Seasonic S12II-620 620W
Corsair Vengeance Low Profile White 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600
Amd HD 7850
My problem is following:
If I change CPU Ratio (multiplier), in standart mode to 40x and leave CPU core voltage auto, it cause instability, even if use Cpu core voltage 1.25 V for ratio 40x.
But that's not all problem. I could understand, why I cant OC my CPU, but this instability is even if I change multiplier to 30x from default 34x and this makes me uncertain.
Now I will describe you that instability...
OK so, when I change ratio to 40x or 30x it doesn't matter, it runs to windows successfully but after using windows something about 3-6 hours pc turns off.
I also discovered second problem by coincidence. If I hit F11 (Boot menu) , when I am starting pc and I have set ratio 40x or 30x, I can choose what I want to boot only for 10 secs and after that PC restarts by itself....
But if I set default 34x ratio I can choose what I want to boot forever and pc doesnt restart.
I know that boot menu is not some test of stability but it is very strange... Why If I change multiplier, it doesnt matter, if it is higher or lower then default settings it just cause instability ? :-/

Yeah iťs working now. As I said, I wanted flash older Bios 2.4, so for sure I click on restore defualts in bios (for sure before flashing) in that 2.64 Bios version...
PC restarts and my graphic card started working =)...
So now I am running on that the latest Bios as you refered mi (2.64 beta).
I am running some test of stability on @ 4 GHz with 1.070 V (IBT,Prime,memmaxx,linx,cinebench,occt,super pi, 3d mark) temps are 62 C max...
So I guess it's ok now =)
At the end I have one question :
My Cpu is now running on 40 x ratio all the time, there is no some underoverlocking ratio (16x etc.) when it's in idle. I was thinking the Ivy Bridge overclocking is overclocking of turbo only...
I know It's detail, because I have good temps even in idle with 40x ration (33-39 C) but i want to be assured if it is ok.

And btw I didnť have 2.4 bios flash on, I wanted put them on... But before flashing my 2.64 beta started working right with HD 7850 as is wrote upper.
I had Bios 2.5 before 2.64

MSI Z77a G43 boot loop

Hi,
I have read all issues about boot loop problems, but nothing fit mine.
I bought MB MS Z77A G43 and Core i5 3570K. After building it, the computer is restarting again again.
I clear the CMOS, boot and in the monitor it says, that setting was reset to default, it shows my CPU,RAM,HDD etc. and it gives me 2 choices:
1) Press F1 to run setup
2) Press F2 to continue.
I tries several times both option, but after pressing the button F1 or F2, the computer starts to boot loop again. I cant go to the bios. Dont know if the problem is CPU or MB. I tried another power supply, but it didnt solve it. Any ideas?

I have change CPU and MB for the new ones, but problem still occurs. I found an information on the web, that i5 3570k supports only RAM with power consumption max 1.5V. I have Zeppelin DDR3 4GB kit (2x2GB) 1600Mhz, but when I clear the CMOS and boot, the MB says that I have only 1333Mhz. That means the RAMS has more then 1.5V?
What do u think? The problem is RAM, which are not supported by CPU?

Urgent need of assistance, MSI Z77A-G45 Thunderbolt Unknown problems

Recently I have built my first computer, a desktop with the MSI Z77A-G45 Thunderbolt motherboard, an Intel core I5 CPU and a NVIDIA Ge-Force GTX 650 TI Video Card, and a 850W PSU (way more than what is needed). The computer worked perfectly fine for about a week, I did not initially order a Disc Drive because I figured I could install windows with a flash drive (which apparently does not work) so I installed ubuntu for a while (irrelevant to the problem) I ordered the Disc Drive and when it came in I plugged it in and the computer would not turn on, so I spent a while trying to figure out why it did not turn on when the day before it worked fine, eventually after basically disconnecting almost everything and putting it back together it worked. But it had no signal to the monitor. I have no means of telling if it is a UEFI/BIOS problem, a video card problem, or a CPU problem. All 4 LED's for the CPU phase are constantly on, when before when the computer worked fine it would only have the first phase LED blink, so I believe it might possibly be a CPU problem, though the video card is what controls the output for monitors so it equally could be the problem. For the motherboard I tried just about everything to reset it, everything, except flashing the BIOS (which I don't want to try unless it is the only solution left) I tried to clear the CMOS, took the BIOS battery out and put it back in again. Please help!

I do not yet have access to another desktop in which to put my graphics card. I just tried reseating everything and still no signal to the monitor. The VGA port on my motherboard does not work, it never has for some reason, I did not get intel integrated graphics with my CPU, I am not sure if that is why the VGA does not work.

Z77A-G45 boot loop

Today when I tried to turn on my 2 year old computer, the computer just went into a boot loop, meaning it boots on for 7-8 seconds, shuts off, and starts booting again. Nothing shows on the screen.
I've searched around, and it seems like a fairly common problem, but I have not been able to fix it.
What I have done so far, is
* CMOS reset
* Switching the RAM sticks around
* Removing my GPUs
* Removing just about everything not essential to the boot (extra hdds, cd-rom and so on)
Nothing seems to fix the problem.
My setup is
* Intel i7 3770K
* 16 GB Corsair ddr3 ram
* 2 x Nvidia gtx 580
* 120 GB ssd
* Corsair HX850 PSU
* And some additional hard drives
Does anyone have any suggestions?

i'm assuming you don't get no boot drive message. regardless, make certain you verify your boot drive is correct> mine resets at times and does that more or less. you can try any other boot drive to see whether that is the problem. ie try to boot from a dvd first to make sure your not totally in trouble. if you another machine ghost present boot drive to other drive and see whats up. actually you can just slap the boot drive into any other machine or use a sata to usb adapter and make sure you can read it. they do fail at times. i forget the key for msi boards for boot setup but f1 will get u there i believe. ps u have ssd too so thats likely it if u had a power outage recently.

ok then if you have tried other memory then its either the CPU (its not impossible and i have seen 5-6 dead CPU's recently) or Motherboard that has failed and both are possible! (unless you can test one of the 2 you have to blindly either get a RMA on ...

MSI z77a-G45 Infinite Reboot Loop

Here are my system specs:
Core i5 3570K
Hyper212 Plus
Intel 330 180 GB SSD (with OS on it)
WD 1TB Black (for data)
MSI z77a-G45 motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws 8 GB RAM
EVGA GTX 660 FTW Signature 2
Corsair TX650m PSU
Lite-on iHAS124-04 Optical DVD Drive
Corsair 200R case
I should mention the following up front: I don't know what is causing my problem, but my guess is it's either PSU or motherboard.
Nothing in my system is overclocked (except for the fact that my GTX 660 card comes factory OC'd). Here is my issue. Yesterday, I shut down my computer and everything was normal. I didn't change anything at all. Today in the evening, I tried to power on my computer, and it simply goes into an infinite reboot loop. I don't see anything on the monitor, nothing comes up. The computer powers on for about 10 seconds, and then powers off for about 5-6 seconds, and it keeps repeating this process. Actually getting this process to stop is a bit tricky (I think I have to hold down the power button for several seconds when the computer is off). Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried a few things, like checking to make sure the 8 pin and 24 pin cables are tight. I've tried resetting CMOS and taking out the CMOS battery. Ideas? Thank you.

Hi guys. I know this thread is 2 and a half months old but I need to find a solution to this problem. It may have been better to start a new thread, excuse me for not doing it as my problem is quite similar.
Well, my situation is a bit different and I will explain it shortly but first I'll give you my PC specs.
MSI Z77A-G45
Intel i5-3570
Corsair DDR3 8GB (2x4)Kit 1600MHz Vengeance
Nvidia GeForce 9800GT
So when I assembled my PC I put one RAM in DIMM2 and the other in DIMM4. This led to an infinite reboot loop. The fans and the leds were working but nothing was displayed on the screen. After doing some tests removing and inserting again the RAMs with different combinations I came to the conclusion that this infinite reboot loop is occurring when a RAM is inserted either in DIMM1 or DIMM2. My PC works fine if I connect the RAMs in DIMM3 and DIMM4 but not with the DIMM1-DIMM3, DIMM1-DIMM4, DIMM2-DIMM3, DIMM2-DIMM4 combinations.
At first I thought one of my RAMs might be corrupt but after the tests I see that both work fine and I'm starting to believe that the Motherboard has the problem.
Any ideas? This is really frustrating.

Msi z77a-g45 - BIOS not saving loop

Hi there, I picked up a msi z77a-g45 and an i5 3750k, 4x4GB Kingston RAM, etc etc.
I'm an experienced system builder, but this is my first build in i5 land, or actually on an MSI board. The issue I've got is when I first booted, it shows the "CPU or memory changed !!" and to press F1 for setup or F2 to load defaults and continue. Cool, expected on first boot. I enter setup, get the BIOS how I want it, save and reboot, it immediately shuts my box off and 2 seconds later, back on. All good so far.
But it again prompts the "CPU or memory changed !!" warning. Err...it showed my CPU properly in the BIOS, same with memory.
I've now gone through it quite a few times, and it always re-prompts me to go into the BIOS again or F2 to use defaults.
Doing the F2 deal will get me into Windows, but upon reboot I get the error again and have to F2 again just to boot.
I've tried using Click BIOS to make changes, it however doesn't show any memory in here (updated to latest Click BIOS version), but does show my CPU fine. Shows 0GB.
I've also updated my BIOS to release 25 this morning, no change.
Anyone else have this happen at all? I suppose my next steps will be to drop to a single stick of memory, see if that goes, or do a full 'remove battery' cmos clear. I've tried pushing the clear button on back of mobo but didn't seem to do anything.
Would really appreciate any ideas, thanks all!

Intel Core i5-3570K + MSI Z77A-G45 turbo OC @ 4.5GHZ Problem

Maybe you can help me out. I'm currently running turbo OC @ 4.4ghz stable. When I set the Turbo ratio to 45, i always fail the prime95 test or get bsod. Below is my hardware and bios settings:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
COOLER: Thermalright Venomous-X
MOBO: MSI Z77A-G45
RAM: G.Skill Sniper F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR (4GBx2) CL 9-9-9-24-2N 1.5V XMP

Can you please send me your stable 4.4GHz OC profile for your Z77a-g45 + 3570K CPU configuration? I find it VERY dificult to go beyond 4.2 GHz stable. Thanks!

MSI Z77A-G45 and Samsung 840 Series weirdness

Ok so here's the thing
about a week ago i decided that it was time to build a new computer with a Z77A-G45 motherboard
put it together, installed windows 7 64-bit and everything was working just fine - for about 5 days -
but then one morning when i turned on my computer it decided not to boot and just sat there with fans running with an A2 code at the bottom left of the screen
i tried taking out the ram leaving just 1 in and moving it to different slots and trying a different ram block boots thinking it might be faulty ram,
when that didn't work i tried removing the graphics card and boot with just the onboard VGA, reset the CMOS jumper, and even replaced that battery on the motherboard thinking the shop might have shipped an almost dead one, took everything apart and booted it outside the case on a glass surface to make sure it wasn't some sort of short
but the only time it actually wanted to get past the A2 code was when i booted with only 1 of my hard drives, so i started changing my drives around using various combinations of SATA cables and ports (luckily had an extra 5 SATA cables lying around)
eventually i narrowed it down to it wanting to boot with 2 of my 3 drives but the 3rd one (a Samsung 840 series 500 GB SSD, that has no system files or anything fancy other then music, movies and a few games at the moment) getting it stuck on the A2 code
so i set it up as an external USB drive with a SATA/USB converter i had sitting around but then it would get stuck on B4 instead if i booted with the drive connected
however everything would work just fine if i connected the drive after the system had booted up (or even just unplugging and replugging it when it got stuck on the B4)
once back in windows with the drive connected i ran all the diagnostics i could think of but nothing showed anything wrong with it
(and the only thing i had done with the drive before it stopped wanting to boot was to defrag it)
eventually i decided to copy all the files from the drive to a different drive and reformat it as sort of a hail-mary
and to my surprise that actually made it boot up just fine
so i moved it back inside the case as a normal drive just to make sure it would still work (which it did) and then moved all the files back to see if any of them were the culprit - that turned out not to be the case however
it booted up without complaint with all the original files on it
so now my question is why?
what the heck is going on?
did defragging cause some sort of data fault that caused the bios to not be able to read the drive properly or did i just buy a haunted computer?
like i said everything is back in the state it was the day before it didn't want to boot and bios and been defaulted so it's not really an issue at the moment but I'd still like to know what's going on so i can hopefully avoid it in the future
any answers or comments will be appreciated

This is strange
I have Z77A-G43, and have exactly the same problem with one 1GB sata drive, that works just fine in every other PC.
In my case PC run into restart loop, but with same code A2 as yours.
Strangest part was PC was restarting even if I put HDD into PCI Sata/Raid card !?
So I am guessing here its not a hardware problem, but a software (BIOS) problem.
Now whole pc with Z77A-G43 is at Service because of faulty DVI output (not working).
Will try reformating drive, but need first to buy >1gb hdd to backup that one
Drive is currently working just fine in this 10y old MSI PC =.=
It seams they have stopped making things as they used to, this old mb is one durrable dog.
which was the main reason I went to same company when in question was mb...

Msi z77a-g45

Hello,
I got a new build with a msi z77a-g45, Intel core i5 3570k and 8GB corsair 1666 DDR3 and a MSI 560GTX TI
this is not my first build so i went for it.
after i put it al together it did boot up and just kept running without giving me any form of beeps and my screen stayed black.
i went to troubleshoot some things and it all didn't help. after an hour i found out that when i push down on the (stock) cooler on the right corner it would boot up ( the phase leds all turn up) and when i let it go it just shuts down immediately. same goes for when i push down on the right corner of my gpu it would boot and when i let go it shuts down. i dont know what this is. i replaced the cpu for another one and this didn't help either. i also went for another cooler ( scythe mugen 3 ) still the same problem. i now fixed it with some tie wraps to pull it all down and it starts. do you guys have any idea what this is? i obviously want this fixed and I'm not sure if this is a rma problem or not. i also tried it out of the case ( on the desk ) to put down only the motherboard, CPU and gpu.

You have a damaged CPU socket, and the board should be RMA'd.

MSI Z77A G45 not detecting Sapphire HD 7950 , only integrated graphic works

First of all - sorry for my poor english,
I've build my setup today.
MSI Z77A G45
i5 3570k with Macho Hr 02
Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X
2x4 GB Corsair Low Profile 1600
XFX Core 550W
The problem is MOBO is not dectecting my HD7950 Sapphire when connect to HD7950 HDMI out (using SONY Bravia as display) It works only with integrated graphic on MOBO hdmi out. I've installed Win7 64-bit. System boots fine but only on i5 graphic.
I'm using nearest CPU PCIe port. Unfortunately can't try plug HD7950 in with other PCIe port, Radeon won't fit in case I own (Fractal Core 3000 usb 3.0)

Has the VGA been tested in another machine to verify it works? Do you have access to other VGA's you can test in the primary graphics PCI-E 16X33 slot? If nothing works, then it can be a troubleshooting extravaganza! First recommendation would be to test outside the case on a plain piece of cardboard or untreated wood surface, barebones configuration. Inspect the case for any errant standoffs that may be shorting/grounding the PCI-E slot. The primary graphics PCI-E slot not working can also be caused by a pin problem in the CPU socket. A bright light and magnifier will be needed for socket pin inspection.

MSI Z77A-G45 can't install window 7 by raid 0

Main: MSI Z77A-G45
Power supply: 700W
Ram: 32GB DDR3 1333 MHz

After configuring BIOS to setup RAID 0, I was trying to install Window 7 on my 1.8TB ( which was summed of two HDD )
But I got a problem about couldn't install the O.S on.
***And about the VGA, whenever I plug it in my mobo, my monitor shows black screen as it doesn't recognize the VGA card. What happen if I install window then add the VGA card later? Will it affect on my system later?
And what should I do to install RAID 0 with my stuff? I appreciate all supports.

The 660ti will require a bios update to use most likely.
Is the system stable enough to flash? The forum flash tool included memtest, run this an so long as no errors or crashes, go ahead a flash to the most recent bios.
