MSxpsPCL6 filter failing on Win 8 with Binding and Punching

Hello,
We are currently developing a print driver for Windows 8+ based on v4 model. The development and basic testing process takes place on Win 8.1 Pro machine where everything works just fine. During testing on Windows 8 Enterprise, a serious problem occurred.
We are using JobBindAllDocuments and DocumentHolePunch features which seem not to be compatible with MSxpsPCL6 filter library on Windows 8. When we remove these two options, the job is created and converted correctly. When we remove the filter from our
filter pipeline config file, the XPS jobs are also created correctly.
When the document is printed using our driver and the filter library, the output file has a size of zero bytes and the only log information can be found in Event Log and it is very vague. See Event Log Record below. Our Windows 8 Enterprise virtual machine
is fully updated (we noticed even some update of the MSxpsPCL6 library).
I found the same issue report thread on public MSDN forum and the only solution provided was to contact MS Product Support.
I hope you can provide us with information on the way we can use these features even on Win 8 systems or at least you can inform us about all the known issues in the filter, so we do not have to continue only with guessing what could a could not work there.

'Filter' failed printing error with Quark and Xerox 7800 after upgrading to 10.9.2

After upgrading to MAC OS X 10.9.2 from 10.8 I can no longer print from Quark 9.5.4 to a networked Xerox 7800 printer.

You can always try using the generic postscript and Generic PCL drivers as possible options

Restart your computer
While your computer is restarting, clear all of the applications from the background on your iPhone. You can do this by pushing the home button twice and swiping the programs off the screen by pushing them upwards.
After you are done doing that, restart your phone.
Wait about 10 seconds or so and turn your phone back on. By the time you get your phone back on your computer should be completly restarted and ready to go.
When your phone is back on, plug it into your computer. This should automatically bring up your Itunes, you may get another pop up that says autoplay, you can close that out. That's it. I hope it helps and good luck

Help!!! Designer/Repository 6i install fails on Win with 8i

I get the following error when trying to install

Orainst.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows.
You will need to restart the program. An error log is being
created. Where do I find the error log? Is it oraninst.log?
There is no error in that file. What do I do?

Problems with Binding and DNS records

I haver an issue where a DNS A record is only created when binding machines to the top of the forest. If I bind a machine to any other domain within the forest an (A) record is not created. IN other words xyz.com works but if I put the machine in region.xyz.com an (A) record is never created. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The data is filled when the list source or target iterator is executed during bindingContainer.refreshControl() call.
The method that performs list population is 'JUCtrlListBinding.setupListItems'.

MacBook Air will not print on wireless Epson printer. It says 'filter failed'

MacBook Air all of a sudden will not print on wireless Epson printer. The error message is 'filter failed'. Shut down everything and rebooted, but still not printing.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Select
/var/log ▹ cups ▹ error_log
from the hierarchical list on the left side of the Console window. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last failed printing attempt. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

a recent update broke my ability to print to a lexmark e352dn printer. Every print led to the cups-status message "Filter failed".
Downgrading cups-filters and cups was not enough, poppler and Co had to be downgraded, too.
It works for me now with

I use a .ppd file for cups, don't know whether you can call that a “driver”...
At least, previous updates of cups, cups-filters and poppler didn't lead to that problem.

Error message "filter" failed

Hello, I am printing a custom sized program for my wedding. I have succesfully printed about 60. I need 40. My printer has been giving me many problems and I can't figure out what to do. It prints the header and sometimes almost half of the program and then stops and I get the error "filter" failed. I have removed the printer completely from my computer and reset the printing system. It doesnt work on my other printer HP Officejet 4620 because I don't believe you can do custom sizes in that one. Can you please help me so I can get these finished before my wedding. According to this post, Printing Custom Size Error, on the Apple Support website, this appears to be an Operating System specific error message. Filter failed, pdftopdf quit unexpectedly. Epson Artisan 700 on OSX 10.9.4.

When I try to print on my Epson Artisan 700, it says "filter failed" under the print job, and "pdftopdf quit unexpectedly" in the error message. I've tried resetting my printing system in System Preferences, it hasn't worked. I'm running OSX 10.9.4. Thanks in advance for any help, I'm at a complete loss!

What worked for me was downloading and installing this driver http://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/16158/
Then reboot printer and it should work! Good luck :-)

RESTful service and BLOB with bind variable

Hi,
Has anyone successfully created a RESTful service with bind variable to retrieve a BLOB field and render it in an Apex app? I can create RESTful web service and render BLOB field for a record with no bind variable (single row). As soon as I add bind variable my RESTful service fails -- I get 404 Error. Without bind variable it renders both in TEST tool of Workspace and direct URL. As soon as I add a bind variable it fails either way. I have reported this in an SR to Oracle support, but thought I would post here too.
I would also like to retrieve the photo into an Apex application. Any hints would be appreciated.

Hi Fateh -
Good question. You would identify the source type as a Media Resource, and use an SQL statement with the primary key and the BLOB column. When you use Media Resource, you are essentially telling your Database Cloud Service not to marshall the data, just to send it - which is exactly what you are looking for.
With this implementation, you would have to have a separate SQL call for each BLOB retrieval. However, you might be able to use a PL/SQL block as the end point for the RESTful Service and take care of multiple BLOB processing in the block.

Epson XP-200 failing on CUPS with a "Filter Failed" error

After this last update, my printer has stopped working completely, always with a "Filter failed" error.
Before the update it worked perfectly, never had an issue.
I've tried every combination of turning on and off, reinstalling the drivers, reinstalling cups, etc... nothing got any results.
None of the related issues I found googling got me anywhere closer to having it work either.
If anyone has some fix for this it would be very appreciated

You show the OS receiving an image from Photoshop, and the OS starting the Epson print driver and handing it part of the image, the driver connects to the printer, then the print driver fails. It looks like a bug in the Epson rasterizer, or the printer communication.
You really need to talk to Epson. Photoshop isn't involved in that error.

Canon Pixma MP610 fails to print and returns a " Stopped - 'Filter' failed" error message.

Hi, I have updated to latest OS and now my Canon Pixma MP610 fails to print and returns a " Stopped - 'Filter' failed" error message.
I am running OS X 10.9.3 (13D65) on a 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac with 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I've done a complete system re-install and also performed a targetted install of just the Canon Drivers - but all to no avail.
The printer is OK with regard ink-levels and is/was working fine. It will print out 'photocopies' independantly of the iMac. Additionally, from within the Print Queue I can view the ink-levels so there are comms between the iMac and the Canon - it's just that 'Print' seems to be off topic.
Can anyone help as I have to get a document out tonight

Is that device desSystem Preferences - Print & Scan - Right click the printer and select Reset Printing System. DO NOT use any Canon software.
You did not advise how it is connected (USB- Wi-Fi- etc..) so it's a little difficult to assist with so little information.

[SOLVED] Network printing stops with 'Filter failed'

I have a problem with printing over the network. What I want to do is printing from my wireless connected laptop with the usb-printer (HP PSC 1315 aio) that is connected to my computer (that functions as the cups-server). On the laptop, I added the printer with the address ipp://192.168.1.33:631/printers/hp_psc_1310_series. After printing a (test)page, the progress stops with ‘Stopped “Filter failed”’. The print task is send to the computer because I see it there, but I think on the computer is going something wrong.
- Printing from the computer is no problem!
- It isn’t the firewall, because I stopped iptables.
- I deinstalled cups, deleted all configuration files, installed cups and added the printer; no success.
- Avahi is active; I restarted it already (the wiki says that can help, but no success).
- I tried it with another laptop, but with the same result.
- I have the printer marked as ‘shared’ and the server as ‘Share printers connected to this system’.
Does someone know anything else to try to get it working?

This afternoon I tried printing over the network again, and it worked! I have no idea why it is functioning now, maybe there was an update of CUPS or another package that made it work. I did the same as last time, but now the printer was simply reacting as he should.

When I click on Firefox it opens with a box that says "Foxfire is installing your updates and will start in a few moments-. " then it says "Software Update Failed (in blue) with an exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle) The update could not be install

If I open another Firefox window with the previous one still running, it doesn't give me any of these messages, it just opens normally.

If you can't install on top of the current installation then you need to delete or rename the current Firefox program folder to do a clean install.
It is possible that your security software is using or locking files, so you can try to temporarily disable that software during the installation.

ADF Groovy Expression with bind variable and ResourceBundle

Now I have ViewObject which have WHERE clause with bind variable.
This bind variable is for language. Within bind variable I can change Value Type to Expression and into Value: I put +(ResourceBundle.getBundle("model.ModelBundle")).getString("language")+.
Now if I run Oracle Business Component Browser (on AppModule) this works. In my ModelBundle.properties there is language=1 name-value pair. And with different locale I have different language number.
Now if I put that ViewObject on one JSF, this bind variable expression does not work any more. Error:
*oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: java.util.MissingResourceException, msg=Can't find bundle for base name model.ModelBundle, locale my_locale*
Any ideas?

The most wierd thing is that, if I make ViewObjectImpl and insert this method

and call it in Bind Variable Expression Value: viewObject.getLanguage()
IT WORKS!
But why with groovy expression it does not work?
