Multi-language support

The web has truly made products world-wide the instant they
appear - but supporting the many, many languages and character sets
of the world takes a bit longer. Today, Buzzword is US English
based only.
Buzzword will support languages other than US English in the
future. There are a number of pieces involved in supporting a
language - including support for non-US keyboards, dictionaries for
spell check, localized user interface and terminology and more. We
have plans to support many languages - and will keep this forum up
to date on those plans.
In the meantime, for those of you who work in a non-US
language, we suggest turning off the spell check dictionary: from
the Buzzword menu, choose "Settings and Preferences", then uncheck
the "Flag mispelled words" checkbox. This will make performance
better as spell check will flag most words in a foreign language as
misspelled, i.e. not English. Many Western European keyboards will
work with Buzzword today.
Buzzword does not support languages that are RTL (right to
left) such as some Middle East languages. And Asian languages -
Chinese, Japanese and others - are also not supported at this time.

Although Buzzword has been created to support many languages,
there are a number of technical issues that need to be

Hoan - is your question what are the considerations when creating multiligual catalogs? If so, I can tell you that at other clients I have seen them use a single catalog for one or two languages. For the two langugages, such as Spanish/English, you can create a single catalog with both of them. Once you get to more than two languages, the catalog would get unweildy and is therefore not suggested.

Win 8.1. Core language and multi-language support.

I've used a US developed program with multi-language support for years in Win XT and Win 7. As the program now supports win 8.1. I've upgraded to 8.1. and the new release of the program. However it will not work properly and the reason given is
that my version of 8.1. has a different core language compared with what the program uses and this version is not multi-language supported. Now I wonder if there are various versions of the core language in 8.1. or is the core
language unique, supported by various language packets for menu's, guiding texts, etc. Why do I then need a multi-language supported program? Where can I put this question?

Multi language support by crystal reports..

Hi Experts,
Please throw some info or links about multi language support by Crystal Reports. How many languages it supports at present and what are they?
Should we create indivitual universes for every language which are required? if yes, is there any shortcut for the same.
Need to know about single sign on faclity also.

Multi Language Support Setup

Hi Gurus,
We have currently upgraded from 11i to R12.1.2 and we have decided to USE MLS & NLS(Multi Language Support) for the very 1st time.We have 4 Languages (American,Spanish,French,Portuguese) so when we query for data in tl tables(apterms_tl,ra_terms_tl,fnd_responsibility_tl) we get four records for a single term_id because we are using 4 languages so we need to keep a language join. What I am doing is
Select * from ap_terms_tl where agent_id = 5 and language = USERENV('LANG'); which returns only one row with US as the language. Here is a sceneario where I am struck I want to see data in a different language like Spanish or french or Portuguese so how can i achieve that. what i am trying to do is
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE = 'BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE'; and then querying for
Select * from ap_terms_tl where agent_id = 5 and language = USERENV('LANG'); i get data in Portuguese. How can we achieve this from user level perspective. like when we register a Canadian USER and he wants to see American and vice -verse.

Here is what we are trying to achieve When a user from Canada login into Oracle Applications and runs a request set or a concurrent Program he has to see the output in Canadian Language Responsibility this should be done dynamically(changing the Language). You have give me a scenario like changing the preferences and setting the session languages can we dot it dynamically like as soon as the user logs in from Canada his session Language should be set to Canada Language.
I am just waiting for some help from the gurus.
Help would be highly appreciated.

I able to see the languages in the tables and when i alter the session and I able to see the data in that particular Language.Even i log-in into oracle applications and click on Preferences and change the session Language Other than US i can see the screens in a different Language.Is there anything we can't do dynamically instead of user signing into Oracle Applications and change his session Language.
Like when the user logs-in from Canada then he can automatically see his country language.

Multi Language Support on UI

I want to store the multiple language descriptions in to Database and then want to display that specific language description (like Japanese or Arabic) on UI using JSPs.

Hi, Iam currently working in Oracle 9i database configured for multi-language support. Iam able to enter Chinese characters into the database and view it through i-Sql plus. No I am using VB (ADO, ORAOLEDB) to insert the data. In my VB code I know the data that I have is unicode. I cann see it by doing val(ascb(midb(Comments,2))) * 256 + val(ascb(midb(Comments,1)))
Also if I use sql plus editor to insert some data using insert into abc value nchr(64037), I can retrieve this data using my VB.
While inserting I am using a stored procedure command and am specifying the type as 202 (adVarWChar).
Does the client setting (NLS_LANG) need to be anything specific? I tried setting it to UTF8 as well

Is multi-language supported in 3.0.6?
I know it is supported in 3.0.7, but what about 3.0.6?
Furthermore, I heard there are knowns problems with 3.0.7 language support.
Is it worth waiting 3.0.8 or can we pretty safely use 3.0.7?

In 3.0.7 we have still problems with multi language support.
We are switching to 3.0.8 which seems to be solution of almost all our's problems. (Bugs and missing features)

Multi-language support for ABSL messages

Is there some best practice or feature for multi-language support of ABSL messages (as it exists for the UI since 3.5). Currently we are maintaining messages in several languages (one message entry in the BO per language) and depending on the current user language we raise the respective message. However, with an increasing number of supported languages this becomes quite tedious.

Hi Daniel,
unfortunately there is no other way than the one you described. One thing that may make your life abit easier: In a business object you can refer to messages from another business object. This means you can create one business object "messages" that holds all messages so that you have all messages in one .bo file and not spread across all your BOs. The translation process is easier, if you have all your messages in one file.

Multi Language support for lost password management in OAM

We are trying to implement lost password management with multi-language support. We have updated lpm_changepwd.xsl for UI changes. Some of the text on the password change screen come for the lpm_changepwd.xsl. How can we have the text on the password change screen in multiple language?

Was able to do it by adding new files to the shared folder and updating the style in the lang folder to point to the new files.

Hi, my App has multi-language support (localization). So people use different language in their iphone will see different user interface in my App. I am wondering if AppStore itself supports localization. My app description is in English, which means "English" fro all AppSotre in All countries. Can I write different language description for different country AppStore?

Which App Store (iTunes) do you log into? Which country are you working out of as far as Apple is concerned?
In any case, it is out of your control, similar to Apple's request that devs do not quote the price in the description.
I sell to all countries and I've never had one user ask for a description in their own language. Let Apple worry about the stores and do your best to continue to improve your apps

Multi Language Support in OBI

Hi all
I need to implement Multi Language Support in OBI Reporting(For Chinese Clients)
We are using Oracle Apps as Source with Single Sign-On, so there will be only one logon screen for all, and it will first redirect me to Apps and from there it will connect me to OBI and there wont be any Login Screen for Answers and I cant select the Language option.
I know the Externalizing Presentation Tables and Loading data through CSV file, but how to set the Language option from Apps Screen.
Plz dont advice "Implementing Multi Language Support in Normal OBI"

Hi Anand,
You should create an initialization block, in which you check the language of the logged in user. The user who logs into Oracle BI EE can be found in the fnd_user table. Then you should be able to verify the language of the logged in user.

Multi language support for Product Information Management

Does Product Information Management support mutiple langauges and to what extent? For example, an Item Description can be entered for several language but can the user-defined attributes be entered for several languages?
Where can I find more documentation of the multi-language support of PIM?
We are on Advanced Product Catalog version 12.0.0.

Disco Admin multi-language support ???

I am an Oracle University instructor. A student has asked whether the Discoverer Administrator client supports any language besides English. In researching, I found a few docs refering to multi-language support for Disco Viewer, but I have seen no mention of it for Plus, Desktop, or Admin. If you have any info on this, please advise.

As far as I know, Discoverer Admin and Desktop are only available in English, just like they only run on Windows.
However, both Plus and Viewer can be made to run in virtually any language in the world by selecting the appropriate language from the Locale box on the connection dialog.

Description of key figure for multi language support issue.

Custom key figure description multi for the language support issue
The key figure is created in English language and description also in English.
When I have logged in to English language and checked the report in Bex ,description of key figure is available.
But when I log in to other language(German, Spanish Portuguese and etc) environment the description in Bex rport of key figure is showing blank
In rsa1 in both English and other(German, Spanish Portuguese and etc) environments key figure description is okay and correctly displaying.
Please post me your inputs on the same.

This are the key figures XPRECIO: Transactional Price and XPRECLIST: Price list, its maintained in RSA1 tcode at info object level .
These two KF descriptions are maintained in English, its working fine when I login into SAP Bex analyzer with English language and its not showing the description for the languages (German, Spanish, Portuguese and etc).
Its need to be displayed in when login into SAP Bex analyzer with language German, Spanish, Portuguese and etc.
