Multiple Accounting Periods

Does Oracle Financials Support Multiple account periods ( Future Periods or 13th Periods as they are called)
basically we are dealing with a Multi - national company , they have different accounting periods for different countries they work in (Jan - Dec 31 in US, April 1 - March 31 for their Australia Ops)
ultimately they want to use oracle financials globally for all their accounting , the challenge we have right now is we can have only 1 "13th period" in which we can post adjusting entries, so we can either use it for the US or Australia.
any ideas ?

Hello.
You can define multiple calendars and assign a different calendar to each set of books. For example, you can use a monthly calendar for one set of books, and a quarterly calendar for another.
Each set of books has an associated period type. When you assign a calendar to a set of books, the set of books only accesses the periods with the appropriate period type. Thus, you can define an accounting calendar with periods of more than one period type; however, each set of books will only use periods of a single period type.
For example, you could define a Week period type and specify 52 periods per year. You can assign up to 366 accounting periods per fiscal year for any period type, and maintain actual balances for those periods. However, for budgets you can only use the first 60 periods.
For example, assume you have a July 1 to June 30 fiscal year and the current date is July 15, 1995. If you choose the Calendar year type, General Ledger appends the year 1995 to the period name (JUL-95) because July begins in 1995. If you choose the Fiscal year type, General Ledger appends 1996 to the period name (JUL-96) because the fiscal year ends in 1996.
Using the same July to June fiscal year example, if the current date is March 15, 1995 and you choose the Fiscal year type, General Ledger appends the year 1995 to the period name because the fiscal year ends in 1995.

  • FDM Fixed-Width Import Format & Multiple Accounts/Periods Issue

    Hi FDM experts,
I have an issue that I wanted to reach out to you on regarding fixed-width import formats and how to cater for my current scenario for export to Hyperion Planning.
    I am working with a flat file (.txt) I need to import to FDM with the current format;
    A
    B
    C
    D
    E
    F
    G
    Z
    Year
    Channel
    Product
    Jan-MTD-Account 1
    Jan-MTD-Account 2
    Jan-YTD-Account1
    Jan-YTD-Account2
    Dec-YTD-Account2
    2013
    Channel_1
    Product_1
    1000
    2000
    1000
    2000
    10000
These are all fixed in width so the field lengths will need to be defined in the import format. The requirement for loading to the system is only a speciifc Month YTD value for both Account1 and Account 2.
    If my chosen Month is 2013 Jan, I will only require columns F and G to be loaded. These are the issues I have identified;
Can a fixed width import format cater for loading to multiple accounts in the same file? Or would I need a separate import format per account?
Can a fixed width import format cater for loading to a variable Actual Month period? Or do I need 12 import formats/locations per month?
    Your help is much appreciated!
    Many thanks
    Aaron

    Hi Aaron,
the solution you are looking for needs pivoting your source file.
Think that FDM, by default, only accepts files with one single column for amount. You have to pivot your file based on your logic and import the pivoted file.
    For example:
    Year     Channel     Product     ... Jan-YTD-Acc1     Jan-YTD-Acc2 ...
    2013     CH1          PR1               1000                    2000
If your POV is Jan-2013, your data imported will look like:
    Year     Channel     Produc     Account     Amount
    2013     CH1          PR1          ACC1          1000
    2013     CH1          PR1          ACC2          2000
All this process can be automated by playing with Import Scripts.

  • I lost all of my music on my iPhone and must have separate iTunes account. How do I see if I have multiple accounts?

i lost all of my music on my iPhone and must have separate iTunes account. How do I see if I have multiple accounts?

It may be same computer but if a new, empty, library has been created then it is not the same library your device was synced with...
For general library squiffiness following an upgrade or crash the easiest thing is to restore your last backup, but I guess if it were that simple you wouldn't be here.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup! For example grab SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time. And if your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes regardless of drive letter or path.

  • Multiple Accounts in data file

    Hello Experts,
    I am using BPC NetWeaver 7.0 SP6
Has anyone discovered a way to import data form a delimited file where account data is stored in their own column?  Or are we stuck with the verticle approach?
For instance, I want to import data for multiple accounts from a file that looks like this:
    CATEGORY     DEPARTMENT     TIME     DATASRC     ACCOUNT1     ACCOUNT2     ACCOUNT3     ACCOUNT4     ACCOUNT5
    ACTUAL     123     2009.JAN     GLSYS     25     700          566
    ACTUAL     123     2009.JAN     GLSYS     97     568          544     9
    ACTUAL     123     2009.JAN     GLSYS     257          897     488     2
    ACTUAL     456     2009.FEB     GLSYS          958               6
    ACTUAL     456     2009.FEB     GLSYS
    ACTUAL     456     2009.FEB     GLSYS     365     12300          1200     14
I know you can use MVAL for the multiple time periods, but I do not think that will work for accounts.
Any assistance anyone can provide would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Mark Glowczewski

    Hello,
    Thank you for your response.
I understand I need to use a transformation file in order to point data into the right direction.  However, I want to run a single import and have it import multiple accounts rather than multiple imports, one for each account.
I do not think this is possible.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Multiple account assignment in invoicing plan

We are using Invoicing plan and activated multiple account assignment in the "account assignment category config". in ECC 6.0
Following are the scenarios and issues.
    1. An invoice is posted through MRIS (Invoicing Plan Settlement) with one account assignment only.--- the systems posts the invoices correctly.
    2. Change account assignment to multiple lines .e.g. two GL accounts with 60% and 40% -- Upon running MRIS, The system posts invoices 80% and 20%.
    3. Continue next period with MRIS, and the system posts correctly i.e 60% and 40% as per PO .
    4. If the account assignment is not changed there after, the system posts correctly.
We  found in the debug mode the system calculates the split by way of taking into account the values in the PO history, and the previous items in the invoicing plan.
Is there any way we can achive the desired split account after the first invoice is posted with single account assignmetn?
p.s. If we split the account assignment prior to the first invoice is posted, there is no issue.

    B.K.
I need the user exit in the SES no in the PO.
    Thanks,
    CD

  • GL balance/line item by multiple account grouping

I have around 200 expense accounts, I want to define GL account group or set,
for example, I want to define fourty such GL group
in FAGLB03 or FBL3N, we can only retrieve balance or line item by one account grouping and save as variants.
is there any report or ways we can list down multiple account group balance or line item in one go?
if I run FAGLB03  account group by group and list down period 1(Jan), period 2(Feb), period 3.....GL line item summarization figures it will take more than two weeks,

    Hi Siva,
If i understand your requirement correctly, I think you can select multiple account groups from 'GL account line item display (FBL3N)' dynamic selection screen as shown in below screen.

  • Multiple accounts on one computer

How to set up multiple accounts in itunes

This is from the link John Galt gave:
"If you share your computer with other people, you can maintain separate user accounts for each person who uses the computer. This is useful especially if each user has different tastes in music or other media; users can maintain separate, personalized iTunes libraries and can customize their devices' sync settings accordingly."
Which only works if all user accounts use the SAME iTunes account. This is not what the original question was. I have 2 iTunes accounts and 1 Mac. I have 2 user accounts setup and each account uses a seperate iTunes account. The problem is since they introduced this ridiculous 90 day rule when switching iTunes accounts this no longer works. I was happily using my current acount and when I switched to the older account to download my old movies I bought on it I got hit with the "you have to wait 90 days before switching iTunes accounts" when I tried to go back to my original account.
This has broken and ruined what used to be a great system. Let me explain:
Back in 2000 when you bought a DVD you could take this DVD with you to your friends house and pop it in their player and enjoy the movie.
Fast forward to future where no-one wants shiny disc or any other physical medium you go to your friends place and log into your account and watch the movie that way. Simple easy... till the 90 day rule.
I fully understand the logic behind it (protecting their IP), but it breaks the system for legit users. Copyright has always stood in the way of progress. There isn't a single copyright protection on shiny disc that has not been broken. All that engineering effort, time and money and you can download a free app to break it.
You cannot stop piracy, just like you cannot stop thieves. You can however try and catch them AFTER the act and punish them. This 90 day rule is like not allowing you to walk into the same store more than once in 3 months in case you might have stolen something the first time you where there. It's a stupid way to prevent something that is un-preventable.
There are many ways to get around the 90 day rule for people that do want to pirate someone elses library, but it does completely block someone who is just trying to use his own purchased media in a legit way. Stupid...
I am now forced to own 2 seperate computers just to access my 2 iTunes accounts.

  • Sharing one iTunes library across multiple accounts on the same Mac

Hello, I've poked around at some of the posts dealing with sharing one iTunes music library across multiple accounts on the same Mac but it seems like this can only be done if the libary is moved to a shared folder. I realize this can be done but I was trying to share it the way it is described in a post on Apple support (See link below.). That post seemed to imply that you don't have to move the library from its original location (owned by account A, e.g.), rather just make a couple preference changes in the accounts, use fast user switching and voila. That doesn't seem to work. So my question is this: Is the only way to share one iTunes music library across multiple accounts on the same Mac to move it to a shared folder? I'm running 10.4.8 on an Intel iMac. Thanks in advance!
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93195

After reading this and several other related threads, I am becoming thoroughly confused about all of this. I have a situation similar to the one that pokerpal described in the post dated January 7 at 8:06 pm, except that the music files on my system are located on an external hard drive. Everything else is pretty much the same though - I am the admin user (and the main iTunes user and maintainer) and my girlfriend is a standard user who has no music in her own iTunes library. She can see and listen to and make playlists from and sync her iPod with the music in this library from her account, and I can do the same thing, independent of her, from my account. And if I make a change to information within a song, she doesn't see it, and vice versa, and I understand that. What I don't understand is why when I add a song or an album to the music files by importing a CD or downloading something from the iTunes Music Store, she has no way of knowing that unless I tell her, and then she can add it to her library by using the "Add to Library" function. Is there no way of automatically updating her library files to add the new song(s)? We have almost 15,000 songs and videos in that library, and I don't even want to think about what might have to happen if the answer to my question is "no." Interestingly enough, if I put an update to a Word document in the same exact location (on the hard drive), we can update that and pass it back and forth all day - why is that such a difficult task for iTunes to accomplish?
Sorry I went on so long, but this has been building up for some time, and none of the solutions I've read about here have really been of any help, so I'm a bit frustrated and, as I said at the beginning, confused.

can there be multiple accounts on one id?

Unfortunately you can't do the logical and convenient thing of authorizing a computer with multiple Adobe IDs that are active simultaneously.
You can authorize accounts from different vendors; one account per vendor.
If you have multiple operating system users set up on the computer,  you can register different OS users as different Adobe Account users.

  • HIRE Employee prev to the retro accounting period in payroll record

    Hi All,
I have an issue when I try to hire an employee in the system. The system doesn't allow me to hire any employee before Nov 2009 as the retro accounting period for that payroll area is dated to 11 2009.
The retro accounting period changed from 10 2005 to 11 2009, when it did not change for any other payroll area.
Can anyone suggest a solution as how to hire an employee beyond this date?

in one case we can perform this activity why the user will forget to hire an employee who got hired for the previous months
U have to change the Retro date in the control record as per the isssue
ask the client to use the system accurately  other wise deleting the control record is not good practice  in some cases we can do and we have to do
but this above said shd not be the reason

  • GR and GR Non Val indicator in R/3 PO for multiple account assigned SC's

    Hi,
    We are on SRM 3.0(EBP 4.0) and R/3 4.7.
We have implemented the BBP_CREATE_PO_BACK badi for setting or clearing the GR and IR indicators under certian conditions.
But for Multiple account assigned SC's we get an error message "06181 With non-valuated GR, please also enter GR i ndicator ".
We have tried implementing note# 872000, but this has not solved the issue.
The PO's get created only if we force the GR indicator when transferring the data into R/3.
It seems clear that while creating the PO the system is encountering the GR Non Val indicator but not the GR indicator, so its throwing the error message (we get the same error message when we create the PO from R/3 with GRnon val indicator checked and GR ind unchecked).
The proposed solution is that in the same BADI, along with clearing the GR indicator, we will also clear the GR non val indicator.
This can solve the issue if the indicators are transferred as it is from EBP.
But can anyone tell me if these indicators are also checked/changed in any FM/program in R/3 before the PO is created?
Is there any customizing setting which is affecting this particular behaviour?
    Regards,
    Srivatsan

    Hi Srivatsan ?
In ECC, you have a configuration point :
Materials Management->Account Assignment->Maintain Account Assignment Categories
    Here you can untick the indicator you want by account assignment category;
    Kind regards,
    Yann
