Multiple copies of the same image in iPhoto iOS 4S

Very strange I've got images that have been duplicated 5, 6 times in the Photos section of iPhoto on my iPhone 4S iOS 5.1. Anyone got the same issue? It's like it pulls a copy of the image from every place the image appears, Camera roll, Album, Stream and Mac. Anyone else noticed this?

It's gone. But as a work-around, duplicate your photo (⌘D) to create as many versions as you want copies and select all at once. Then use the "Custom" print layout and set the photo size you want.
After printing, trash the added versions.

My question is a simple one. Do these many copies (which, as far as I can tell, are identical) of photos make the library take up far more space than it should?
I'm rather new to Mac, so I don't know how identical files are handled.

iPhoto always preserves your Original file. It's built-in to the app is a core feature of it. In this is coheres to the best principles of Digital Asset Management, where your original is treated the same way as a film photographer would treat his negative. Having an option to overwrite the original would make it a different app, and there are already loads of apps out there that will do that - any image editor for instance - so what would be the point of that.
If space is an issue you can run the Library from an external disk:
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
Or if you really don't want the feature, it's always possible to use another application for managing your photos.

Multiple copies of the same image in gallery on 58...

When I open my gallery one of the images is repeated many times. I haven't counted how many copies there are but it's over 20. I only have one copy of the actual file on the phone. Switching off/on doesn't help nor does refreshing the gallery. If I delete image itself another image is repeated.
Anyone know how to fix this?

p.s. in the past I've had to do a complete refresh of the phone (back to factory settings etc) and it did this gallery thing both before and after.

no - you simply have to select the option to print mucliples of a photo on a page
select the photo and go to the file menu ==> print - select the printer, paper size and print size and click customize - in the tool bar click on the settings icon (the gear looking thingy) and select "multiple of the same photo per page" and the preview will reflect this option showing a full page of the selected size photos

Try the following:
1 - put the photo in an album and duplicate it as many times as the number of prints you want on a given page. This is assuming the page is US Letter (borderless).
2 - select all the prints and type Command+P (Print).
3 - in the next window select Paper Size to be US Letter (borderless).
4 - also, at the bottom of the window, select the aspect ratio and a custom size that will allow you to get all of the photos on one page.
This screenshot is for a photo that has a size ratio of 4:3, was duplicated 3 times and then printed with a custom size of 4x3 selected to get four prints on the page. You can experiment the custom size until you get the largest possible size for the 4 photos on the page.

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.
You can only do it by duplicating the photos "n-1" times to make "n" prints and selecting all copies then print

What version of iPhoto?
The general process is to select the photo and print, select the printer, paper size and print size and click customize and under settings selec multiples copies of a photo (the preview will reflect this choice) and click print to print, make any printer specific selections and click print to print

Can I print a multiples copies of the same form using a counter. For example I like to print 200 copies and I have a variable or running toatl that can be incremeted by 1 trought the copies.

As above, Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library, however it is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve/merge ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

Anyone else having problems with iBooks, multiple copies of the same book have shown up downloaded in my bookshelf, iBook doesn't want to load jus spins and spins, HELP!

Have you tried to force quit iBooks?
Double tap the home button. You'll see the app icons adn a preview show up on the screen. Scroll sideways if needed to get the preview and icon for iBooks on the screen. Flick the preview window up and off the screen. Then single tap on the home page preview, or on the home button to exit the mode then try to open iBooks again

Why do I get multiple copies of the same podcast with different episodes in iTunes? Is there a way of merging them into a single
podcast? On my iMac, I may delete some episodes and add others. When syncing with my iPhone, a new podcast is created rather
than updating the existing podcast. At times, I've ended up with four different podcasts of the same program and finding a specific episode
means searching thru all four.

I have been experiencing the same problem, and unfortunately sanfranciscotx's suggestion doesn't address or resolve the issue.
iTunes is behaving inconsistently. There are podcasts for which I have selected the "Download All" option and it only downloads new podcasts that have been released since the last time it was checked, regardless of how many podcasts were released in that time, without downloading old podcasts.
In another case, the "Download All" option is selected, and it works as I would expect (the above scenario) for some time, but then one week it will start downloading a bunch of older podcasts as the original poster has mentioned.
I am running iTunes 10.5.3, so I'm lead to believe the issue lies with the server where the podcasts are stored or the podcast feed and not with iTunes.

How to manage multiple sizes of the same image?

I recently took up LightRoom for all the good things it does. One of the things I need to do, however, is to create and manage multiple sizes of the same image needed for different purposes. I always found this cumbersome. I totally expected that the LR library would offer a solution for this but I looked and I didn't see anything. Sure you can export and resize in the process but then you're on your own. Am I missing something? Isn't there a better way? What does Adobe have in mind for best practices and how do you handle this?

I can't speak for 99jon, but when I need multiple sizes, I export at the desired sizes, and then make use of the exported photos (upload, e-mail, whatever) and then delete the exports. Thus, there's really no need for me to keep track of the photo at this specific size, knowing that if I ever need it again -- unlikely -- I can regenerate it with the export pre-set, so I put no effort (zero!) into keeping track of photos at different sizes.
The idea of adding it back into the catalog doesn't get me excited, and I would advise against it. I don't need this, and I don't see the benefit of keeping this particular size export for the long-term. As I said, I can always recreate it — but maybe you have such a need to keep these exports long-term and recreating it at a later point in time doesn't meet your needs? Can you explain?
By the way, you can't resize a virtual copy, so that won't work here. The only time you can resize is on export.
